I have been going to this vet for many years, to include when their primary location was on Maze Blvd. For the past several years I have grown increasingly dissatisfied with their service. They don't keep appointment times.... EVER. Even if you show up early, expect to wait 15-30 minutes after your appointment time to be seen. The final nail in the coffin was my most recent visit. I received a courtesy notice advising me one of my pets needed vaccinations. After arriving 15 minutes prior to my appointment and waiting 20 minutes after my appointment time, I learned the vaccination notice was sent in error. I expect more from a vet of Beckwith's caliber. I will no longer be using Beckwith from now on. Read Less

We have had many vets over the years with our 2 dogs and cat. Beckwith is by far the best place and the only place we will take our animals now. We actually travel all the way from Sacramento because Dr Chad is the best. They truly care about your animals and they extremely reasonably priced. You never leave feeling broke and bamboozled. Beckwith Animal Hospital far exceeded my expectations. Shout out to DR. PAM she is so awesome. She told us more in one 15 minute visit then our other vet told us ever. The staff was so caring. I really expected to come out of there having payed a lot also and that is not the case. They were very fair and reasonable. Family client for over 20 years. It didn't matter that we were longtime clients when a pet actually was dying...not just needing routine care. Apparently when you go in for emergency care you are stuck with that doctor instead of the normal vet you want for the duration of the sickness. Understanding when it's an emergency the pet gets who is available but We were told we were stuck with that vet the whole sickness, however long that was for surgery etc. Vet office also made sick vomiting dog wait in the car for about 4 hours before even allowing dog to come into the office...while it was on standby. The vet we were stuck with did not explain things well. Simply ran expensive tests and treatments.  Went to another local vet after this experience that explained things well and observed my dog while giving him loving care and effective medicine and saved his life. We were using another vet and everytime were dissatisfied with their service. We decided to give Beckwith Veterinary Hospital a call. They helped me set up our information and scheduled an apppintment the next day. The staff was very excited when greeting our French bulldog (granted most people are, he's adorable). But what really impressed me was the vets knowledge and actual willingness to give me information. Something I have never received at our previous vet. Even though the nurse kept telling him he has another appointment set up in the other room, he stayed back and answered all my questions. Very professional. This place was amazing today from the second we checked in, he looked at our chart and was like I'm so sorry this day is rough we will get you into a private room asap. Then they made it very easy and explained very detailed of what we were doing to our dog, it was comforting knowing we had people that genially seemed to care about us and our bubba. It was so sad leaving without our dog today but knowing he's in good hands until we return for his ashes made me feel better. I would recommend this place for sure. The last few years, I have moved around a lot causing my pup to see different vets. She's always been "snippy" at office visits. We first came to Beckwith Vet 3months ago based on a friend's recommendation. It was just a general check up and to update her shots...she was so well behaved I was shocked. We had to go today for a cut on her foot. Again she was perfect in the exam room. It's because of the doctors and staff that genuinely love and care for the animals. We've seen Dr Pamela and I believe it was Bennett (sorry, I didn't catch your name!) both times. Such calm personalities and just a good vibe in the office environment. Dr. Mike O'Brien is not only an exceptional Doctor, but is also a wonderful kind hearted and compassionate human being. We've shed many a tear together over the passing of some of my fur babies, who thanks to Dr. O'Brien and his amazing staff, lived long joyful lives. I do love the doctors here but if you ever took your pets to maze animal hospital you will see a difference. At Beckwith, they are so impersonal. You don't get to know any of the vet techs, the dr's don't walk out with you, They just talk to you about the  facts. It makes me sad. Dr. Jenny is still my favorite . But At Maze, Dr. Jenny knew all my pets names and she would let my pit follow her around the office. She also took time to show my daughter around the back area.  I was recently at Maze and dr. I stumbled across this vet office when I was searching for a vet to operate on my girl Pebble rear leg. I've had a primary vet for all my furbabies so I was hesitant about this office. Needless to say I think this practice is awesome. Pebbles loves Dr Chad. He plays with her and when she hears his voice she knows who's coming in to see her. I just brought Shelby in and met Dr Ann. Take our dogs and cats to Beckwith Vet They are always so helpful and take their time with a full exam of the issue Comparable in Vet prices We have 11 German Shepherd puppies that went for a heath check and shots They spent almost 2 hours and did a full exam in each puppy! Today, I took my two kittens over for their first vet appointment.   One needed tests and a microchip and the other needed a shot.  The vet, Dr Pam and vet tech Stephanie treated my cats like royalty.  They both provided knowledge, listened to my concerns and most importantly are true animal lovers, which unfortunately isn't always the case with animal care providers  They were both fantastic.  One kitty was very scared at first but they were able to put him at ease.The facility is comfortable and the appointment process is easy.Several months ago, I brought my beloved, 14 year old very sick, cat here to be put down.  They treated both cat and I with care, dignity and respect. I have brought my dog here since it opened. Sometimes I think things in Modesto are second rate, so I recently took my dog to Bay Area for a surgery. It cost me literally 3x as much as doing it here and the results were likely the same. Now my dog faces a new challenge and the O'Briens (both) have taken a lot of time for me and my dog. I'm very grateful. One downside of the hospital is there is no night staff, so your pet has to go to the emergency vet on Prescott if it requires night care. ( and that's expensive!) Read Less

We had kind of defaulted into caring for 2 pups with terminal "conditions." Not exactly diseases, but few pups with that particular condition ever make it past 5 or 6 months. With the help of BVH, and a LOT of TLC, we were able to enjoy the loving company of these pups until just over 2 years old. But the time we have with -any- dog is all too short, and when it came time to take them over the Rainbow Bridge, Dr. Jenny Chatfield was there to help both them and us. I've had A LOT of dogs over the past 30+ years, and I have :never: had a vet that was as compassionate and understanding of both the animal's needs and ours. How do you show that much love to strangers of both Canid & Hominid? Dr. Jenny knows. The entire staff (that we have worked with) do truly seem to have our pets' best interest in heart. Truly "from Cradle to Grave." If it ever in my power to do so, I come to BVH for ALL my veterinary needs, be they Serious, Maintenance or Reproductive. We are a Beckwith Family. Read Less

I have lived in several states in several cities (Chicago, Las Vegas, etc.) and I've also lived in different countries, so I feel very confident in saying that finding a veterinarian who is as caring and competent is a rare find. Not only is Dr. Chad (both father and son), caring and competent, but their hospital is run very professionally. I really appreciate how they strive to make you feel that your animal is very important. My daughter, who lives in Chicago, does everything she can to bring her dog to see him. The 2 Dr. O'Briens did  ACL reconstructive surgery  on our dog 2 years ago.  At this point no one could tell he ever had surgery.  He runs and plays totally unaffected by it.  They were great to work with, kept you informed, took good care of our dog while he was there.  I know as the dog ages he will probably develop arthritis in that knee but for right now that knee is as good as new.  If he ever needs the other knee done I would not hesitate one moment before taking him there again.A Rossetti Read Less

We love this veterinary hospital. Our first visit was yesterday. We went in with our very sick rat terrier Bones.The staff at Beckwith Veterinary treated us with the utmost compassion and professionalism. Doctor Jenny Chatfield and her nurse Lori immediately understood that our dog was in dire need of treatment. They promptly identified his issues and treated him accordingly. They explained all his issues and came up with a treatment plan. Lori showed us how to administer his medication and fed him since he had not eaten in two days. We can't thank them enough.
