I give Sylvan Vet Hospital a 5 star rating. My 6 month old English Bulldog was hit by a car. He has a splint in back leg and surgery in back hip due to a fracture. I am so glad Modesto Emergency hospital mentioned Sylvan Vet hospital to us. We live in the foothills and it was hard for us to find a vet emergency place. I found Sylvan Veterinary Hospital through a friend (thank you Karen) after I almost lost my precious Sassy (previous vet negligence). I just needed to know that I had done everything possible for my baby. And after a few weeks of care, the Angels at Sylvan gave me two more years with Sassy. They took great care of both of us. They listened to me, and paid attention to what was going on with Sassy. Then last week, at almost 17, Sassy let me know that it was time for me ...to let her cross the Rainbow Bridge. With my heart breaking, we went to the hospital. They were awesome. They had a room ready for us, they kept me informed about everything that was being done, and basically treated both of us like we were their own. Their patience, understanding and compassion were unparalleled. I was told to take all the time I needed. And as I promised her I would, I held my precious baby as she crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. I sat with her for quite a while, and was told to stay as long as I wanted to. I am hoping that my heart will be ready for a new furbaby soon, and if so, Sylvan Veterinary Hospital will be our care provider from day one. Sylvan Veterinarian Hospital cares for both our dogs. I feel they are thorough, in that they provide text or email reminders as to when vaccinations or annual check ups are due. We have brought our older dog in as an emergency and they made room for her, cared for her over night, and referred us out when necessary. They call us with results in a timely manner (communication is key when concerned about your four legged family). UPDATE: turns out this vet is a master of manipulation and “misunderstanding”. Avoid at all costs. We switched to Crows Landing, price is half and they are much more helpful. After telling these people my animals needed health certificates to travel they scheduled exams, charged me for them, then when I needed the health certificates said they needed to see them again - for a fee. Additionally they wanted to charge $29 per pet for health certificates. Shame on you Sylvan, we ...were good customers and you KNEW we were moving and required these items. I love this vet. They truly love and advocate for animals while not making you feel like a jerk when you are trying to maintain a budget. They saved one of my cats lives, and kept the bill within my means. They gave me options like Care Credit with promotional financing AND they made sure my cat got the best care. I can’t say enough about how awesome the whole staff is. We all love our pets but there is the reality of income and I think the approach this organization takes to addressing the needs of the pet as well as the means of the family is refreshing. Yesterday was a routine visit as we prepare to transfer jobs out of state. I honestly have never had a vet practice I loved so much, felt so confident in, and trusted with my animals like Sylvan. This hospital is by far the BEST vet I've ever gone to. I would highly recommend this vet hospital to anyone who owns a pet. The entire staff from the front desk to the doctors are phenomenal. I recently had an emergency with my newborn puppies and they seen me the same day. Dr. Magnusson spent 45 minutes after the clinic closed answering all my questions and concerns. Had an emergency for my 3 year old American bulldog. We called ahead and they quoted us for the visit right there and said that we could come in immediately. We were greeted by happy, professional staff members. The nurse and doctor was able to reassure with a course of action and keep us informed about pricing the entire way. Dr Cardoza has taken care of our Sweet cocker Angel since she was 8 weeks old. We unfortunately last our sweet Angel after 10.5 years last week. We had noticed a change in her daily routine at which time we Took her in for an ultrasound and x-rays. After the x-rays it was determined that she had a mass inside her. Tiffany had taking the time on he...r day off and agreed to do surgery on angel to find out more about the location of the mass. After being in surgery a short time it was discovered that it was not going to be able to be removed and we would have to make the tough decision of having her euthanized. This vet sucks.took my dog Nala in for intestinal bleeding.they kept her for 12 hours and then called me to take her to a 24 hour vet hospital.charged me 699.50.and didn't cure her.a week later took her to Dr hagen because she was sill sick .Dr hagen diagnosed and cured her in one visit.sylvan is over priced and will rip you off. The staff here have always been patient and kind and sensitive. Thats why I knew I could take our little maltipoo puppy when he got attacked by a pit bull. Just yesterday this happened, and they took him in right away. They answered all my questions (I was that annoying customer all day), phone calls, and even let us come in later in the same day for a second check up after his pain progressed. Thankfully they have several people on staff, so when other places are too busy, you know you can come here. They have seen my 4 yr old cat twice in the last 3 months since my cat seems to enjoy going out and getting into scuffles lately. The staff has been super helpful and even when my kitty developed an abscess at 6:30 one evening they took him in and treated him even though they were busy! Why pay a hefty amount for decent vet care only for the staff to be disrespectful and blatantly lie to your face. I am horrified of the behavior of their staff and unfortunately for management this problem will not just go away. The staff there are RUDE and BLATANTLY MISREPRESENTED the facts . They lied to my face and tricked me into signing a contract, which makes the contract voidable. When I called to ask for a manager, they told me to call monday and they said " we cannot give out the managers email " . So basically if you have an issue which is serious enough to go to management , you have to go through the same incompetent staff. Go elsewhere where you will be treated with respect and dignity . Dr obrien at beckwith and the staff and vets at monte vista vet are excellent. I have also heard great things about river oak. Very Expensive! I took my dog in for a check up yesterday, she has some skin issues, they shaved a small area around the site. They shaved her so close she is bleeding and whimpers continuously from discomfort all night. Worst razor burn I have ever seen. There is absolutely no need for this sort of treatment. I still take my animals here, but have learned a lot about how to get my animals the best care. Just like a human, take the time to educate yourself on your animals symptoms and conditions. I had an ill dog and let them make appointments with different vets. Didn't get consistent care or the same diagnosis. Immunizations(on a sick dog) and medicine was prescribed to her that I believe led to her premature death at 5 years old. That being said, I now make appointments with only one vet for my animals so I can get consistent treatment. They are nice and caring people, but that doesn't bring my pet back. After her death, I researched the condition and would have taken a much more proactive approach with her care. I would recommend making appointments with Dr. Cardoza if your pet has an autoimmune condition.Read Less
