Everyone, from the moment I walk in the door with my girls (elderly dogs), is absolutely spectacular & lovely. I deeply appreciate that everyone remembers my dogs' names and treats them as though they were their own dogs. I normally come here for scheduled visits. This last time, though, was for an actual emergency. We were seen very quickly and with great empathy. Both Dr. Herrmann and Chris the tech took lots of time to examine my Moritz as gently and thoroughly as possible--and they were so understanding of the special needs of my semi-feral boy. It turned out that he had not injured himself as badly as I feared, which was a big relief. It was almost as much of a relief that the bill was not outrageous. I took Yo in cause my big dog Tana bit him (he's little). Yo is a bit of a pain, he bites and snarls at everyone. The crew and Doc at MPV were absolutely fantastic. They took him while snarling and were able to calm him down enough to shave the site and check the bite. Didn't need stitches and they assured me he would be fine. They were right! Gave me some antibiotics to give him and he healed up just fine. My 2 visits also didn't cost me a fortune like vet visits have cost at other places. I would definitely recommend MPV. Read Less

I went in here because my dog had a cough. I had suggested that he might have kennel cough because I have had dogs that have had that before. They continued to sedate him to check his throat to see if he had something stuck in his throat. After they did that, then they said he probably had kennel cough. It cost us about $600 and I am pretty sure the actual vet doesn't even like dogs. The other staff besides the vet are so friendly and nice, but I am pretty sure this place just wants to rip you off. I have 3 dogs and have used Monterey Peninsula Vet on more than one occasion. My petsitter was able to easily take one of my dogs when we were out of town, she had to use the medical boarding they offer. My dog had to stay quiet due to her injury so being with our other dogs was out of the question. The staff is very caring and knowledgable and very timely with exams and diagnosis. Read Less

My kitty, Bear, experienced urinary retention after surgery. Dr. Harris was gracious in easing my mind that Bear would receive the care he needed when he was admitted. Bear was at the hospital for 2 days and 2 nights. All the staff were caring, professional and friendly. Adrian and Erika were 2 staff members that I dealt with the most. Not only are they caring and knowledgeable, but they are personable as well and are open to trying different methods to help their clients. We love that they are connected with our primary vet and the follow through with the notes and updates that are sent to our Vet is a relief to know that everyone is on the same page. fabulous care when we needed it. Emergency care for our dog that had Gastric Dilation - Volvulus and needed surgery immediately. The concern and care for our dog was evident. Libby, our 14 year old Labrador had osteosarcoma and we needed a very high quality place for her to stay while we were away on a short trip. This is the second time this place has saved our pooches life. He under went an extremely complicated abdominal surgery. What should have been an routine surgery turned into ruptured small intestines, requiring close to 30 inches of intestines being removed. Dr Parnell has excellent bedside manners and truly cares about her patients. I can't say enough good things about her. She definitely exceeded our expectations. My baby, Oscar, was attacked by the neighborhood bully, and came home limping and crying with a bloody foot Friday night. I rushed him to Ryan Ranch. They took care of him immediately, and then sent us home with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory meds. A day later, Oscar is back to his usual self, begging to be let outside. Our Clumber had an allergic reaction to what we assume was a spider bite, as usual late night. We were taken care of right away and after a shot the tech sat on the floor with him giving goodies and tummy rubs) to make sure he had no more reactions. The care given to your pets is obviously outstanding. I wasn't visiting while they were ill because I literally couldn't handle my emotions. I've had them since pups and was actually quite surprised when I picked them up that they weren't as excited to see me as our usual morning routine. They kissed me and let me love them up but I realized I missed and hurt for them more than they did. It looked like they wanted to stay!! They had been their almost two weeks and were very happy and cared for. It took a couple of days for them to be the same fun loving puppies happy to be home!! This place ONLY cares about money! We came in with our 2 year old Min Pin that ate some poison and they would not treat our baby without us paying $989.00! We asked if we could pay them half of that and they gave us back our girl and said NO. We frantically called other pet hospitals and found Pet Specialists of Monterey on Canyon Del Rey who charged us $350 for the same care. The Dr. at this place in Ryan Ranch was a blonde that was rude and smelled like cigarettes! This place and it's staff does not care about animals, they only want your money. I have been taking my dogs there for years, for routine care and when they are sick. They treat my animals like their own. They have done surgery on one of my dogs and cleaned both of their teeth. They do an excellent job. I have never had a real 911 emergency but if I do they already are familiar with my babies and I know I can trust them.Read Less

I took my Foxy after she was attacked by another dog , around 4am, I was crying and very upset never been in that office before, the nurse was so caring compassionate and knowledgeable she took her back to the doctor kept me informed of what was going on then when I was able to see her and started crying again Dr Nick was so compassionate and caring that I knew my Foxy was in the best hands possible. After my mom was attacked and my two small dogs were mauled by several large dogs (unleashed) Dr. Wasseff performed emergency surgery on one of them and saved her life.
