I absolutely love this vet office. Everyone there is so kind and helpful, and they really do their best to help you save money. They don't care about racking up a large vet bill, all they care about is making sure my dogs are healthy and happy! Their shot clinics every Saturday are a great deal too, especially if you just got a puppy that needs all their vaccinations! If your dog needs a shot, bring them in and all you pay for is the shot and not the appointment fee! Dr Mason has been our vet for many years. We have German Shepherds. Last night she saved our 12 year old German Shepherd dog's life. We are on the road and Gwen got sick. I called Dr Mason and she told me what the symptoms sounded like and told me to get to a vet immediately. 1 emergency surgery later and lots of calls with Dr Mason and our big girl is resting comfortably. If you live in the general Moorpark area, forget about the other 3 or 4 vets in the city and just take your animal(s) to Mandy at the Family Mason clinic.  I've taken my pets to the other ones and no one has been more down to earth, no nonsense, take care of business, get me in and out of each visit quickly and on time (mostly because she's got a full waiting room of other patients that she needs to keep on schedule) and charges a very reasonable price than this vet clinic.  She gets to the root of the problem quickly and does her best to minimize additional costs.  I came from another very popular vet in Moorpark who had me on a 6 month check up reminder schedule for all my animals, pulling blood work, taking samples and doing full workups each time I went in (to the tune of about $400/pet/visit).  Mandy quickly told me to "forget that foolishness", told me she'd give me a ring when it was time for vaccinations to get up to date and, aside from that, watch my pets carefully and bring them in when/if I noticed any behavioral or physical changes.  My vet bill went from about $1,500/year down to about $80/year and my pups are doing just fine under her care.  Save yourself time, money and trouble, and still keep your pet perfectly healthy by taking them here.Thanks Family Mason!  Excellent job! The first couple of times we went for our cat the vet staff were very nice. But then after a miscommunication with the doctor and the secretary about our cat's treatment, the secretary became very rude and showed attitude over the phone. And it was not the first time either. When I called them back after a vet visit asking if we could come back in because our cat needed a urine test, the secretary got defensive and short, saying they hadn't known our cat needed a urine test in the first place. I told her it was fine, and I wasn't blaming them at all but she was still very rude and short with me. We called back today to set up another appointment and as soon as we stated our name and our cats name the secretary once again gave us an attitude, giving us short and clipped answers. And that was it for us! We'll be going to another vet from now on. The doctor is nice but with all of the missed communication and high expenses for everything, and being treated so rudely by the secretary it's not worth it anymore.Read Less

My dog has a hard time at the vets office and ALWAYS has to be muzzled. We've been banned from some grooming places because he's just too aggressive. After taking my dog to Banfield, having the vet yell at me because she couldn't handle my dog, paying a extremely high bill, and his allergies were still not getting better, I was ready to give up. My Aunt suggested I go see Dr. Mason and told me how wonderful she was. I didn't think this vet would be any different but I decided to give her a try. As soon as you walk in you'll notice the entire staff is very friendly and professional. They were very understanding of my dogs needs and even put us in a private room to help my dog with his anxiety. As soon as Dr. Mason walked in the room you could feel her good energy and so could my dog. Throughout the whole exam he didn't growl once and he even let her pick him up and give him a shot. He even didn't need a muzzle! I was so amazed. Dr. Mason genuinely cares for her patients and will take the time to answer any questions you have and give you advice. When it came time to pay we asked the font desk if the bill was right, we couldn't believe how cheap it was. We recently switched to Dr Mason and we regret not doing it sooner. She genuinely cares about your pets and gives you treatment options depending on how aggressive you want to be with treatment. We've been to other vets where you feel like they only cared about how much money they could get you to spend and not what's best for your pet and your family. I really wish I could give Dr. Mason more then five stars. Not just as a veterinarian, but as a human, she is a gold. Her and her staff are thoughtful, friendly, kind, knowledgeable, and patient. She's very informative and makes sure you know exactly what to expect. When you bring in your animal to her you never feel like a number. It's personal for her as if she were caring for her own pet. There are never unnecessary tests, blood work, or procedures. You feel like you are visiting one of you lifelong friends. My only complaint is that I wish I would have met her sooner. I am new to Dr Mason...on my 4th visit.  I love her...she is so caring for the animals.I was referred by many people, and due to so many referrals I decider to check it out, and I am glad I did...Dr  Mason takes her time, and I never feel I am a dollar sign to her....my pups are completely comfortable,  and that's a pleasure.  And I am completely comfortable that my pups are getting the best care.Do not go expecting to see a modern,  high tech office...she is clearly a country doc,  who prefers to keep it simple.   My first thought when I walked in the office was...do not judge a book by its cover....and I guarantee that phrase stands so true....Thank you Dr Mason....Rusty is a happy little guy and feels so much better!!!! Kind, caring and affordable. As good as it gets for a vet.Dr. Mason truly cares about the animals she treats and it's obvious. She won't try to up-sell you things you don't need. My dog wasn't even afraid to be treated by her, and that says a lot. My groomer recommended her to me after leaving an unscrupulous vet who just tried to milk me for money and didn't care about my animals. Doctor Mason is truly a blessing!! She treats my Fur Babies as if they were her own. She gives you the reality of the situation but breaks things down for u to relate on a human level. Her concern is to treat your animal the best way possible for their needs and your budget. Sad to say some people won't treat their animals because they can't afford it and it's not a human.... She wants what's best for all and this is greatly appreciated!!! Vets can be outrageous with their add ons, recommendations, etc and she's down to Earth and honest. Went to FMAC for the first time today, had an INCREDIBLE experience. I went in today to get my dog a rabies vaccine. I figured I would be waiting a while to see the vet and then they would hurry me out. I was so pleasantly surprised at how wrong I was! I was greeted warmly when I walked in by the very welcoming front desk staff, and within minutes the vet came out and personally introduced herself to me and brought us back. She even brought out some toys for my son to play with! I didn't feel rushed at all and I was very pleased with the personal attention we received. My dog didn't even flinch with the shot either! I thought I was going to have to put the cat down. After taking the cat here, it was determined my cat was allergic to fleas! This clinic is what a vet should be, loving, caring and friendly. Dr Mason is a wonderful doctor who obviously loves animals and does what she does for the love of them and not to be some uppity Dr. I went to a vet in Simi Valley and they wanted to charge me $242.00 to check a spot on my rabbit for fur mites and give him medication. Dr Mason charged me a hair over a quarter of that for the exact same treatment plus better treatment. I will never take my animals to another vet while living in this area. Excellent care for your pet. This is not a fancy vet office - but it is excellent! Dr. Philips gives the best care to the pets and the cost is extremely affordable. My dog had a very bad ear infection and had to have his ears irrigated, 3 visits, 2 shots, antibiotics and 2 tubes of ear medicine and the total cost was around.$250. I have recommended her to several friends who have been extremely pleased with her. If you are tired of being ripped off by vets who charge a fortune because they have fancy offices and 10 assistants and 3 people at the desk and give you a cute card with your dog's picture on it - then you should try this vet.
