I wish I was writing this review under different circumstances but sadly, my Cookie kitty passed away just this last Wednesday. The whole Paws & Claws team are caring and sympathetic. They treated me and my Cookie with utmost respect and compassion. This was a very traumatic experience for me...my Cookie was with me for 12 years and I was so lucky and blessed to have had her. Dr Garcia has been taking care of our dog for the past 10 years.  Unfortunately, our dog has had some problems that required several surgeries.  Dr Garcia has been wonderful in getting us through them and always available to answer our questions. Dr. Hoffman made a big mistake and put my 11 years maltese under the anesthesia to clean his teeth when he knew that my dog diagnosted heart murmuring by himselfe and can not handle such procedure. During the procedure, pasha (my little dog) got a lots of fluid  in his lung  and got breathing problem and lost his life 3 hours after in a emergency room of VSEC in the city of thousand oaks .this teeth cleaning of my dog cost me around $750 and plus extra $500 in the emergency room.at the end of the day i send his beautiful body for especial ceremony. Yesterday our beloved 19 year old cat suddenly began to fail and was in high distress. Our regular vet would not come to the house to assist us with letting him pass away in the comfort of our home. We had used Paws & Claws' terrific mobile bathing services many times and called to see if they could send someone. They said yes, but not until the end of the day. When I described our little cat's condition and age they sent Dr. Fabregas and her assist immediately. Both Dr. Fabregas and her assistant could not have been nicer, more gentle and caring towards our darling kitty and to the whole family. I cannot stress enough about how the wrong vet in this situation could have scarred our 13 year old son's memory of this sad moment. Dr. Garcia saved my cats life. He is one of the kindest vets I have ever encountered. And probably the most intelligent, educated, and talented. Oh and I will definitely not forget to mention compassionate. Most vets (COUGH COUGH VCA) only care about money. Dr. Garcia and his team truly care about animals, their well being, and the fact that their owners love them more than anything. They see animals not dollar signs and it is so refreshing. Another vet turned us down because we didn't have the whole payment up front and we had to transport out poor cat (she had dislocated her jaw on both sides and shattered it on the side and broke it down the middle of her bottom teeth) to a different vet with her jaw just hanging there. Dr. Garcia's main concern was my cat getting her surgery ASAP and was willing to work out payments with us so he could just go in and fix her. The whole team here is incredible. This is what taking your animal to a vet is supposed to be like. Mollie was so amazing the day I called in tears looking for someone to save my cats life. Gina was there the day we brought her in and she was so calming and reassuring. I have NEVER been to a vet where the front staff was so friendly or so caring. I know there are other girls, vet techs, and doctors that work there too and I assume they are just as wonderful at their jobs as Heather, Gina, and Mollie are. Heather even gives out her personal number and she always gets back to you quickly with responses. All the girls know mine and my boyfriends name and all of them know Lana's name and always say hi to her and play with her when we come in for checkups. It's just such a warm atmosphere. Not only did her surgery go flawlessly but her recovery and check ups have been so easy. If you're reading this to get an idea of what vet you should go to trust me when I say come here. I was pointed towards Rick for my dogs broken leg. Broken in three places and he did surgery the first time I took my pit bull in to him. It's been a year and some months now since the surgery. I came to Dr. Garcia's through a friend when my dog was very sick and near death. He pulled a 5 pound tumor out of my lab mix and saved his life three months ago. Arco is happy, eating well, and walking 3 miles a day. The follow-up care was unbelievable and the staff there is very friendly and good at what they do for our furry friends. I went back today to get a tick and flea treatment and I think my dog remembered that the last time he was here, he had major surgery so he didn't even want to get out of our car but that didn't phase them, they came outside and apply the flea and tick treatment while the dog was at the car.I still can't believe how wonderful these people are to me and my dog. thanks again for everything Dr Garcia and Heather. The doctor here is miserable, and treats my wife and I like were idiots. I cannot for the life of me understand why this place would have any more than 1 star. I have brought my dog here several times for skin issues and each time he has scolded us, spoke to us like we were children, and gave my dog a cheap spray and told us to give him Benadryl. Really? my dog is in constant pain and this man has no solution? it's a skin issue for Christ sake, not cancer!! He has no sympathy, and I can say with honesty that this man does not care about animals, he cares about your money. I don't even know where to begin... Dr Garcia isn't our regular vet, but when our 3 year old Weimaraner tore her ACL we were referred to him as the best choice. After checking reviews and speaking with Paws & Claws we chose him to perform her surgery. We expected a long but uneventful recovery... but that just wasn't in the cards. About 9 weeks after her surgery, X-rays revealed that she had over flexed her knee and in the process, broke off a piece of bone toward the top of the repaired area. A second surgery was required to reattach the bone with pins and this time they chose to immobilize her leg in a soft cast to prevent another incident. With weekly bandage changes it became clear she was still able to move her leg more than desired and after a quick X-ray we got even more bad news... she'd done it again! Surgery #3 removed all the previous hardware and confirmed that the other areas of surgery had healed well and were in good shape. This allowed Dr. Garcia to drill through the tibia to better secure the fracture and he also fixed her with an external "cage" pinned through the bone to completely immobilize her leg. Her surgery was Wed and by the next day we noticed a nut had loosened and fallen off the external fixture. After some tightening over the next day or two, it was determined that it was probably a faulty piece of hardware, which they swapped out and now we're hopeful it will hold. Dr. Garcia, Heather, Jaime, Stormy and all the staff at Paws & Claws have been so wonderful through this entire ordeal! Even making a special trip to our house on a Saturday to replace the hardware so we wouldn't have to transport our poor girl. They are so caring, knowledgable, compassionate and accommodating it has made a negative experience as positive as possible. We have been able to call on them at any time and get a response, advice and quick decisive action to help us and our girl. It would be very easy for most people to try to blame the vet in a situation like this, but we know our dog is very high energy and hard to keep still and they did everything right, went above and beyond and truly care about getting our baby back to her old self again. I can not recommend them highly enough!! Whether you need a mobile surgeon or not, you can feel confident that Paws & Claws will take the best care possible of your pets. Our dog was sick for 8 days and our vet could not figure out what was wrong with him. He had x-rays, blood tests, an ultrasound - no answers. We saw a specialist at an emergency vet who gave us some totally inaccurate information and we left there feeling helpless and discouraged. The girl who works the front desk at our vet told us about Dr. Garcia and got us an appointment with him for that evening. We went to his mobile office and he examined our dog, re-read the vet's x-rays and blood tests and pretty much determined immediately he had an obstruction in his stomach.  He recommended we do surgery and a few hours later, he called to say he found a stuffed animal and a piece of plastic inside his stomach! We met Dr. Garcia and his staff for an hour and they found the problem and got to the bottom of it, more than anyone else did for us in 8 days.I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Garcia and his staff - they are knowledgeable warm and caring and make you feel so at ease. Dr Garcia,  Lisette, and Heather are fantastic people who obviously care about you and your dog.  Dr Garcia is a family man with roots in the community.   We have a large 163 pound Newfoundland who at times is very difficult to transport.   It is also difficult to find a vet who is extremely knowledgeable on giant breed dogs.   Dr Garcia is an expert with these dogs, as he owns large breeds himself.Our dog has a at times a painful neck condition which has shown itself a few times in his 5 years of life.  We have even taken him to a neurologist at Access who couldn't positively identify the pain as a neck problem.A couple of months ago, the condition arose again an our baby Chaz was crying in pain.   We called Dr Garcia who responded to our home.  He new exactly what to do and managed to exactly diagnose the neck condition.   With multiple pain drugsvia I.V. and other medications,  Chaz was extremely better the following morning.  Dr Garcia is a great Vet and his staff is fantastic.   I have had dogs all my life and have dealt with many vets.  Dr Garcia is a "keeper." I foster dogs thru a few rescues, which means every new dog gets a full exam/health check. This means I see a lot of vets. I moved to conejo valley a year ago, and I'd been going to different vets with each new foster  as I hadn't found one I liked (tried vets in Camarillo, Moorpark and Thousand Oaks). I have finally found a vet I'll go back to! The physical exam was thorough, and very attentive to the dog. He really cared about making sure myFoster dog was comfortable. You can tell he really loves animals and is very compassionate. His advice was sensible - he gave me educated information without trying to push unneeded prescriptions or testing. Everyone in the office was helpful and caring, which was much appreciated as I was there with my two year old son and had my hands full. When my son had to use the potty we got to go all the way to the back of the facility - everything is very clean, organized, and the animals were well taken care of. I cant even put into words how much I love this vet. Dr. Hoffman is amazing he has tremendous compassion for animals. I have had him as a vet for my animals for over ten years. During that time I have never had any experience that was less than perfect with him and his staff. He looks out for my animals and I know I can trust him with my furry little ones. He is so sweet and patient with my animals, no matter how nervous or scared they are. You can tell he genuinely cares about each and every one of the animals that comes through the door. He also has tremendous patience with the owners, listening to all of my questions which can sometimes be a lot!!! The staff is also amazing, they are so sweet, caring and helpful. Recently one of my cats had kidney failure he was so caring and kind when giving me the results. He referred me to a hospital that has been amazing and without his referral, I am not sure my cat would be doing as well as she is. He also follows up with them directly as well as me, to see how she is progressing. When I went in to the vet a few days later, all of the staff were asking about my cat and how she was doing. They are all beyond amazing and I am so thankful I found them. A nightmare. I went to put my cat down and they showed no compassion for me -- they had me fill out a form and I was already in their computer, then they said they couldn't read it and made me fill out a SECOND FORM while my cat was yelping in pain. Did they care? No. Then, because I'd been up all night with my dying cat and was upset, I put down the wrong address because I'd just moved here within the last week. The vet was hostile and began examining my cat for no reason since she was dying, but if that's protocol okay but for HALF AN HOUR while I'm waiting to put her to sleep. The clinic is small, there wasn't even a chair for me to sit in in the operator. The vet kept trying to sell me on blood tests, etc and when I said I just wanted to put her to sleep he threw me out. I went to Moorpark Animal Hospital and received the OPPOSITE treatment...kind, caring, up to date facilities and a wonderful vet who gently discussed the procedure with me. Dr. Hoffman at Town Veterinary should have his license revoked...cruel, uncaring and in need of therapy. I'm embarrassed to admit it, but the guy had me crying in his little clinic that forces you to be surrounded by other patients adding to the uncomfortable, embarrassing feeling. AVOID THIS IDIOT AT ALL COSTS! PS. Moorpark Animal Hospital was even forty dollars cheaper! Read Less

Dr. Ralph Hoffman (TOWN VETERINARY MEDICAL CENTER) is located at the Ralphs & CVS Pharmacy Town Center Shopping Center in central Moorpark. I have been going there for over four years now and am always amazed and happy at the way he has dealt with routine visits AND also some extraordinary & difficult medical conditions /emergencies with my dogs.  I find that Dr. Hoffman is an extraordinarily compassionate and competent Vet. He is easily the best Vet I have *ever* had the good luck of finding ANYWHERE in the past forty years, and I have lived all over the country (from the East coast all the way to southern California) throughout the years and owned many dogs (and known many Vets).He is thorough, honest, and super-skilled. I have never seen any other vet administer such an intensive, thorough physical check-up. His prices are very fair, especially when you realize that he always seems to take ALL the extra time necessary when you need it.Dr. Hoffman and his staff have always been there when I needed them, and always managed to work us into their schedule, even at the last minute whenever we had a serious problem or concern. He listens when you talk... asks a lot of questions... and ALWAYS calls you back when you need him!  In all our visits, he's always shown patience and a kind, gentle touch with our beloved dogs.  He has a rare & genuine love for all his four-legged patients and respect for their owners. In my experience, this is rare in a Vet.I love this Vet and love his friendly, accommodating assistants and office staff. I'm blessed and LUCKY enough to live close by, but I would drive many miles out of my way to continue using Dr, Hoffman's services. I highly recommended to all! Read Less
