This was our first time coming here. We brought in our newly adopted dog for her first check up . Upon arriving the staff was very helpful and friendly. Dr Howard and her assistant were very helpful and took care of our dog. Dr Howard took the time to answer all my questions and was thorough with my dog's examination. Definitely recommend this place! This was the ABSOLUTE worst experience I ever had in my life . My dog was really sick so I brought him to this place . They weren't nice at all , and didn't care that my dog was really sick . Anyway , I guess they were really booked so the price for a walk in was going tic e $60 . I was kind of hesitant about the price , then that mean grumpy lady , I believe her name was Tiffany told me there was another place down the street that only charges $20 . I told her thank you and walk over to the other clinic . When I got there the place didn't open until 10am . My dog was in ALOT OF pain so I decided to walk back over and just pay the $60 . When I went back to this place the there was one person ahead of me and that Grumpy lady Tiffany was on the phone . When it was finally my turn another lady came up to ask a question and the other receptionist lady totally ignore the fact that I was already waiting there for like 10mins as she helped the other lady . So without telling me to hold on , she helps the lady and that takes about 5 mins . So I walk up to the desk waiting for her to say something to me . Nothing! She doesn't even look at me when she saids " your going to have to hold on I have someone to help before you " you can imagine how angry I was ! I was just there and they knew my dog was really sick . So she helps this other lady . Grumpy lady Tiffany finally gets off the phone . And she looks disappointed to see me , I honestly didn't want her to help me . So I went over to her and I announce that I'm going to just pay the $60 then o go on by saying that I didn't like her service and that I didn't like the fact that she didn't offer me other alternatives or sympathize with me . So this bitch tells me since I'm so unhappy she refuses to help me . I was stunned ! I told her but my dog was really sick how are you going to refuse him when you are an animal hospital . She was like I just refused to help you . And I told her I wanted to speak to her manger and she said " I am the manager"  and i argued with her about that because she clearly wasn't the manger . I called her something really disrespectful that I probably shouldn't have said . But I was livid and I walked out . This isn't right . She shouldn't be able to decide to deny me service she doesn't own the place . I literally cried when I left I was that upset . The vets down there don't seem to listen anymore. They listen for about the first half of the story then jump into some totally unrelated diagnosis. Then sell meds. for what they think the problem is. They sent me home with pills for a serious cough he never had. They were chocking him with a rope they had around his neck. LOVE this place! I can not say enough amazing things about Dr. Ontiveros, who is our dog's primary caretaker. I've been coming to SAH for close to 20 years, and have always been grateful for the vets and staff that have helped me. Dr. Ontiveros is by far the best vet I've ever seen. She's so meticulous when it comes to check ups and explaining conditions/treatment for your little one. I found this clinic under unfortunate circumstances. Our dog had kidney damage and he was starting to suffer.   We could not stand to watch him waste away.   We decided to put him to sleep.  This decision was  difficult to make.   Our family was heartbroken, but we knew it was in the best interest of our dog.  I have to say the staff were kind and professional. They made this whole experience a little better even though it was a hard time for our family.  Unfortunately our other dog died a month later unexpectedly.  We decided to use them to cremate our baby.  Again the clinic came through for us.   We will always use them for our living pets because I know they are in good hands. Got our dog insurance and had Sunnymead do a wellness check over in the past for our dogs insurance company. Our vet documented that my dog had a skin mass build up on its back. That's fine we knew it was there for a few years and knew if we ever got it removed in the future, our insurance will not cover it. A few weeks later our dog somehow scalped this mass on his back. We believe he scrapped it on the top of the doggie door as he runs out the door chasing a bird in our backyard. At times he bangs himself on the top or sides of the doggy door because of his excitement. It was pretty bad injury/scalping. The door just peeled it off his back. Ouch right? We took him to the vet as it was now a hole in his back and bleeding. We had to wait over a week if not two weeks for the surgery. He had an open wound during this entire time. Our dog was injured for over a week waiting to be stitched up.  During that earlier visit we were told they will clean out the rest of the mass that was still in the wound and it would require him to be put under before they stitched him up. Made sense to me. So since he was going to be under we also had his teeth cleaning scheduled at the same time. Well, The vet documented her paperwork that the skin mass has ruptured and was not an injury so now our insurance will not cover the surgery claiming it to be part of the pre-existing condition to the skin mass. I have argued with the vet and my insurance that it was a injury not a rupture. The vet refuses to re-word this "Injury" for my insurance to cover the surgery. All the vet had to do was re-word the truth and she would have still have been paid by the insurance company versus loosing a long term customer that is out of pocket now and this not so great review. I really loved this place so much! I have been taking my dogs here since 2012, all of my dogs, to get their physical exam and I got them spayed or neutered here. Even though it was pricey and far away from my house I still went because I love Dr. Bennet, she answered all my questions, explained everything, and she even would talk to my pets and that's why they were so comfortable and willing to be checked. Even one of my dogs that is scared too death of vetenarians let himself get checked by her with no problem.Too bad Dr. Bennett has left this clinic and so I'm not going back. They also had Dr. Amaral and she was amazing too but she left as well. There prices for exam have gone up from $35 to $45 and I am not willing to pay that with another vetenarian at this place. The staff and service here are top notch. We take our two cats and dogs here all the time. Even the younger staff care for and engage with the animals. We had to let an important member of our family, almost 22 year old cat, go and they were so supportive. We have been taking our pets to Dr. Ontiveros for over seven years and I have never experienced any of the rudeness reported by other reviewers. She has always been kind, thorough and has taken care of our pets with gentle care. When our papillon became ill with cancer, she told us straight up that she was not an expert in this area and referred us to a veterinary oncologist. The oncologist stated our only option was to try radiation treatments that were very expensive with no guarantee her longevity would be extended by more than a year. When you love your pets, as we do, you often weigh the cost of treatment versus extending your pets life. We sought Dr. Ontiveros' opinion in our decision to end our pets pain and suffering and not extend her pain doing treatment that would not give her much more time. Dr. Ontiveros never pushed us to do unnecessary treatment, but sat and listened to us, and gave us the support we needed in following through with our decision to euthanize our beautiful little dog. We have had four dogs under her care and could not ask for a better veterinarian. In fact, we will only make our appointments with her. Her office stay is great as well. I love this place. Recently my dog started having problems with her hips and she was put on the standard medication. One of the meds was a pain med when she got back and really should not be used daily. That worked until she developed and leg injury and the pain meds was being used twice a day. I then talked to Dr. Hall who does acupuncture there and she said that she thought it would help my dog. After the first treatment I noticed a big difference and after a couple of treatments she is off all pain meds and back to her self. Running and playing. Read Less

They have always treated our furbabies with a lot of love and patience, and always follow up on anything that can't be answered or resolved right away. I rarely write reviews for one star. With that said, DO NOT USE THIS VET FOR HAWAII QUARANTINE CRITERIA!!!!!!! They are the most incompetent vet business when it comes to creating and adhering to a service that is TIME SENSITIVE. They ROBBED ME OF $400.00 at least!!!!!!!!!!!I came to this vet because of the positive reviews and the positive experience I have had in the past. I warned them that I was in a delicate situation and that I will barely make the 120 days rabies quarantine policy that Hawaii requires for all pets. I stressed that I needed a vet that was very familiar with Hawaii's pet entrance policy.Here is what Hawaii needs for pet entry:1) Two rabies shots.2) One rabies OPVN test 3) Health Certificate4) Flea and tick medication $55.005) 120 days quarantine from the day Kansas State University receives blood sample for rabies  test. ($500.00)6) MicrochippedI asked several times prior what the procedures were and these are the reasons they are INCOMPETENT and UNPROFESSIONAL:1) I had to give the Hawaii Checklist to the vet, the vet staff, have a physical copy, and present my personal copy every single time I visited to remind them of where my dog is in the process. They should know. The Hawaii Checklist is a list with check boxes....that they should check off as my pet finishes each criteria.........2) They quoted me the wrong price over the phone. For the rabies test it was supposed to be $430.00. The actual cost is $450.00 plus vet visit $50.00 totaling $480.00 (Straight robbed me). The Kansas State University Rabies test cost $98.00 (when confronted with the HUGE price range, they said the difference was needed for staff work.... that is what office visit fees are for)3) Did not tell me that they were using a third party lab to process the rabies test (THIS ADDS 14 DAYS TO MY PROCESS at least). At that point I had to leave for three months of training and had no time to switch vets. THEY ROBBED ME.4) They called to reschedule my last appointment on my one and only day in California.My dog did not make the 120 day quarantine. Therefore, he is stuck in the Animal Quarantine Facility for 20 days ($14.32 x 20 days= $286.40) plus there is a $100.00 fine.This all could have been solved if they just admitted that they left a detail out about using IDEXX as their third party lab and helped me problem solve or worked with me. I want my money back! Business that run on people's misfortune or are careless should be robbed of their license.Because of their mess up, my dog is in jail for 20 days, I am out $400.00 at least. Please use other vets. This is very very wrong. How can they be in business to help pets, but screw over owners and not care???!!!  When confronted with how unprofessional they were and that they were robbing me, Stephanie (front desk manager) told me I can go to other vets if I didn't like their pricing. We have tried a few vets over the years where I live. My dogs were always scared of those vets and it seemed like those vets care more about money than my pet. Finally found this place (an hour approx from where I live). Saw Dr. Heather Ontiveros. Best vet ever. For the first time my dog wasnt scared of her. They were able to figure out what was wrong with my dog and told us exactly what i needed to do. The vet called me personally with results of my dogs tests even. Was able to get my dogs meds sent to a pharmacy closer to home with no problem (which is good because she will now be on it probably rest of her life). Staff was very nice too. I got to my appointment at least fifteen minutes early and ended up waiting over 45 minutes AFTER my appointment was scheduled for. I've been coming here for awhile and things have been okay (3 stars), but today's service was horrible and I won't be returning.  My dog ate a toothpick and I didn't know what to do.  I tried calling several times but no one answered the phone. After asking a friend who is a vet, I decided it was best just to drive over there and see what could be done.  I know they say they don't take walk-ins, but this seemed like an emergency and I've seen them do it before in such situations.I arrived and was received with looks of dumbfounded bewilderment about why I was there without an appointment.  I explained my situation and said that I thought it could be serious.  They responded with telling me their only doctor not in surgery had appointments. Then, they stated their no walk-ins policy but then proceeded to tell me they already had one walk-in today....  Their only attempt at help, albeit feeble and useless, was to refer me to a vet in Menifee - not even one of the other, much closer vets in town.I didn't expect them to drop everything for me when I got there but they really did less than nothing.  I won't be returning here.  I called around and found the Alessandro Animal Hospital, who also only had one doctor not in surgery but made time to see me anyway since they could tell I was worried.  Performing the exam and giving me care instructions took no more than 10 minutes of the doctor's time.  I wonder why the Sunnymead Animal Hospital, with whom I've been a long standing customer, couldn't manage this simple effort.I will be taking all of my future business to the Alessandro Animal Hospital instead of this place. Dr. Heather Ontieros DVM. After my dog vomited all her food twice the doctor continued with 4 blood glucose test and use the used the faulty result to adjusted her medicine dose. I pay for 92 dollar test and one test before she vomited. I for credit for the other four test in a couple weeks for a more accurate medicine adjustment but she refused. This doctor is always pushing all of kinds of test and fea poisons with not needed. She doe not listen to the customer and talks over the customer. Avoid this vet at all cost. We took my sweet dog here last weekend because he had mobility issues.  First, I called two days prior and requested the Saturday appointment.  (i love they have weekend appointments).  I arrived 15 minutes prior to appointment time, and we had to wait 30 minutes--overall not bad.  The office was clean, and had no funky odors.  The staff was super nice.  Christina was our tech, and Dr.Hall was the provider.  Christina seemed to be genuinely concerned for our four legged family member.  Dr. Hall did a thorough exam, and explained her findings in a way we would understand.  She showed us the x rays, and gave print outs for the diagnosis.  We were very pleased with the kindness our whole family received.  We will be back for our follow up soon and we will have our other pets receive care when needed.  The costs for the visit were very reasonable.  Xrays were also fair priced.  Even after pricing the medication at other locations, this animal hospital was only a fraction more.  By the time you drive around town getting the best deal on meds, you will likely lose the difference in gas.  Good value in my opinion. The people that work here are extremely helpful and understanding. Becky, who euthanized my dog Wowie comforted me SO much during the process. It was deeply appreciated, I really needed it! The process happens so fast & Becky didn't rush me away. She really understood the agony I was in. I've lived a lot of years, had many, many animals, and visited probably 20 different veterinary clinics in my life. NEVER have I been as impressed with a vet as I am with Dr. Ontiveros. From her level of comfort and ease in handling my animals, to the degree of her knowledge and compassion, this doctor, I think, exemplifies everything a family veterinarian should be. If she were to leave MoVal, I'd drive my animals anywhere in SoCal just to continue having her treat my pets. This hospital has been my mother's vet for 10 years and I have also taken my pets to them for the last 5 years. Dr. Bennett is, in my opinion, the best vet in the area. She is knowledgeable, caring, and highly professional. She is just a great vet and a great person. Dr. O is great as well. I haven't personally seen the other vets there but if they are anything like Dr. B and Dr. O they are phenomenal. The staff is excellent and the clinic itself is very clean. Anyone who claims they overcharge is nuts (seen this on Yelp...don't pay attention to those reviews). This office has one of the BEST deals around! Go to a vet in Temecula or Murrieta...you get charged $100 just for a office visit at some clinics down there. This vet is the BEST bang for your buck and offers superior care. This place is amazing. Of course when you go to the vet, it's rarely for a good reason. Our cat suddenly became very ill, and they took care of him as best as they could. We also took Loki there to be put down, and they were so understanding and sympathetic. Dr. Bennett and Dr. O are so wonderful and sweet. Dr. O cried with us when she gave us Loki's prognosis. Dr. Bennett hugged us and reassured us after Loki had officially passed. I unfortunately didn't catch any of the techs' names, but they were all wonderful and kind. They even sent us a condolence card afterwards. The office is wonderful and clean. My fiancé even said it feels very intimate and homey. The prices are great as well. Seriously, please go here. For one thing, If you can't afford to care for your animal you have no business having one! Animals are very much like children (only cheaper) in many ways! They require maintenance! I have no doubt anything less than four stars is this facility being confused with the Sunnymead Veterinary CLINIC across the street, that facility shares the same name and the doctor across the street Dr.Park is in no way any comparison to Dr Huang, or ANY of the doctors at the SUNNYMEAD ANIMAL HOSPITAL! Two things any smart consumer should know.1) Hospital and CLINIC- Is like the difference between using a power tool and a screwdriver!?2) DO YOUR RESEARCH-Before researching the Inland Empire magazine for the top ratings! I made the mistake of going across the street to the Sunnymead Animal CLINIC to see Dr.Park, what I witnessed was nothing short of barbaric! Its a visual I had hoped to forget! Sure the prices might be better!? I didn't stay long enough to find out! but how sterile is it? I sat with my husband and witnessed thirteen dogs "THIRTEEN" All laid out on the floor, and all pointed in the same direction with an industrial fan on them, as I peeked out to see where this Doctor (If you could call him that) was, I peered around the corner and witnessed a technician handing a puppy to the vet in mid air, legs wide open and the effects of the anesthesia just kicking in! I couldn't watch past the the scalpel and just couldn't believe what I had just witnessed, I went back in the room and sat with my husband, as we sat there waiting some of those puppies laid out on that floor started waking up, crying and confused, not one staff member reached down to comfort them! they had no problems stepping over them though to get a quick vaccine loaded though!So if it's high cost that bother you and you don't care how your animal is treated,,,,,,,by all means go to The SUNNYMEAD ANIMAL CLINIC across the street in that little mini building, nothing like introducing your new puppy/child to nothing but pain and horror!!! SUNNYMEAD ANIMAL HOSPITAL- Is hands down the best I've seen! From Orange County to Riverside County!!! The vets are what any true animal lover seeks in finding Top Notch! And the staff is simply like a breath of fresh air! They each have such Wonderful people skills in making sure your every need is tended to, if the doctors not available they will make sure they contact you at their earliest convince, They are knowledgable, educated and a pleasure doing business with.I do my research on everything,I'm the definition of consumer reports putting it lightly, weather it's buying the best power tool or looking for the best Dentist! I USE COMMON SENSE and find the best there is out there, That's how I found my family physician of over twenty plus years,my outstanding Dentist, etc... I took my beloved dog there for a routine teeth cleaning and he was killed. They overdosed him on anesthesia and Dr. Ontiveros treated me with such disrespect it was devastating. She told me she did not know how he died. He was healthy and happy the morning I took him there. Frankly, I think Ontiveros killed him on purpose because he was 10 years old and she was always unfriendly to me. I think she did it on purpose. I have no proof but its what I truly believe. Do not take your pet there under any circumstances. My dog was completely healthy and was killed by negligence and/or was murdered. I never saw my pet again. We alway used this vet for our annuals and checkups. The one time I have an emergency, I am told that they can not see my dog and that I could make an appointment for two days later. When I asked them to recommend a local vet they would not do that (afraid of competition). They would only recommend a vet in Murretta (35 miles away). We ended up going to Riverside without my dogs records. She passed that day at 6 year old. When choosing a vet, pick one that will be there when you need them!!!! This vet was not there for us!!!!! I have a very strong feeling the technicians are not experienced because of the shotty work and obvious failed attempts to pull blood samples and place IV catheters. Was on hold forever. Have been going for many years Dr Eaton retired and sold business to new dr. Took my special needs dog to her and was treated very rudely actually asked to take my business elsewhere. After checking price of medication my dog has to have every month realized dr eaton was giving at cost guess new owner didn't want to continue to be as helpful. It costs 90.00 per month for medication for this dog I which rescued 5 years ago Dr Eaton will be missed by the community.Haven't found new vet yet but will keep looking as far as Sunnymead animal hospital all friends and relatives are going elsewhere also.
