I've had them as a vet for my first ever cat and it has been a wonderful experience! They are friendly on staff and I feel like the prices are reasonable. They also trim my kitties claws once a month for me so it is a life saver. Even if we move out of the area we want to keep them as our vet. I just stopped in this morning because of difficulties I've had getting and giving a couple of medications to my cat. I have not been a patient...er, my cat hasn't been a patient, but the front desk staff we very helpful and knowledgeable and were generous in connecting me with a valuable resource. I did tell them how much I appreciated their help, but wanted to say it to the Yelp world as well! They wouldn't give me a prescription for flea medication for my dogs because we haven't come to the hospital for over a year. Are you kidding me? We are not talking about antibiotics or narcotics. This is a FLEA medication. I don't want to bring my dogs in if I don't need/want to. We didn't have such problems with our previous vet, but unfortunately his clinic is closed after his retirement. Worst vet ever please please don't go here. Got a stray kitten on a Friday had Alley Cat check him out said every think was good but a little constipated so if he doesn't go to bathroom bring back. Well he did poop and brought in stool sample. Now Sunday he still doesn't seem right looks constipated so i do what they recommend. Kitten up and crying all night so first thing Monday  back up to Alley Cat. Well Dr Salinas checks him out says he needs to be put down very dehydrated and has some kind of cat disease. I just spent 186$ on Friday and now Monday you said he needs to be put down. What did they do on Friday? Dr Salinas has to audacity to blame me for not bringing him in on Saturday really you said he was just constipated. Now they want another 250$ to put the Kitten down. Are F$&@ing kidding me. Took my dying kitten to another vet who said should have been put down on Friday. She only charged me 58$ and was very compassionate unlike Dr Salinas who is by far the worst vet ever zero compassion for people and their animals only wants money. Only if you can give negative stars Yelp. Trust me posted my experience on Facebook and it seems I'm not the only one who feels this way about Dr Salinas AKA Dr give me your money. New owners.  Will not cut our cat's nails.  They prefer organic solutions when it comes to trimming nails on kitties who don't like to have their nails done.  We took our cat their for years.  Maybe, the vet clinic is going thru growing pains.  They are making financial mistakes as well.  Good luck.  Napa is a small town with good vets.  We are taking our kitty else where.  The new owner could have announced change of ownership.  Disappointed after using this clinic for several years. I have been bringing my cats here for many years.  I went in recently to get my cat a routine check up and shots.  I was not aware the business had sold, but it was very different when I entered this time.  Staff in the past were very helpful, kind, and courteous. The reception gals were not very friendly and I had to finally ask them directly for my invoice, they were ignoring me as I stood there...  The vet was nice enough, but seemed new to her practice and was not very thorough about the exam.  It felt like she was afraid to take a closer look at my pets teeth, and she took my docile 9 pound female cat in the back room to have a tech hold her while she looked for ear mites with a scope, huh? I did not recognize any employees from the previous ownership, not a good sign.  It feels run down and tired inside.  I will probably take my cat elsewhere the next time, just not feeling the love I have in the past. Dear owner I don't know why I can't reply back to your comment you left in reposnse to my experience at the pet hospital you know it's very funny that Now Iam told all of all of these things now that my dog passed away it would of been helpful to know all of this when my dog was alive. when I was there I was told the dog was in time for treatment and that it was going to make it also I don't understand why my dog was left in the box her all her stay I was never told that she had to be isolated also no one was there to watch her when she needed her next dose of medicine or anything else I was never told that she had to go to an emergency room because supposubly you guys had everything to give her the right care I can tell you these dough I will never ever go back to this place also please train your staff the right way so no one has to ever go thru this horrible situation. Dr Salinas and his staff was great!! We are out of towners and woke us this morning to our dogs right eye swollen shut! We were scared and couldn't imagine going wine tasting knowing our little one might be hurt. So we called Alley Cat and they were able to see us right away. Dr Salinas was so caring and gentle with Papa even though he wasn't out normal vet. He said it wasn't anything to worry about and could be either Papa bumped into something or a sting... Nothing serious that needs medication. He asked about Papa's general health and we told him Papa takes glucosamine and without trying to sell us anything, he told us to look up information on essential fatty acids. We just felt like he really cared for Papa's overall health. If we lived in Napa, this would definite be our fur doctor. Thank you! Read Less

We have been clients of Alley Cats for 20 years. The practice was recently sold. Yesterday I took my poodle in for an ear infection. I was there 2 hours the doctor was nice. The service was extremely slow. Last night the dog cried all night. I waited until they opened at 8 am and called the answering service answered until 8:15. So I drive to Alley Cat the receptionist was there 8:20 answering phones and asked me to wait. I did I explained the problem and my frustration with the phones not being answered she didn't respond . She told me to take a seat. They would fit me in they were booked. I asked when does the doctor get in "oh 8:30 or 9;00." I left it's no way to run a business Read Less

This is the 1st time I went to see them. Excellent care for our 8 month old Lab/Beagle mix, who had a severe ear infection. Who knew those dangling big flaps would be  an impediment..Excellent care! Was a process to administer meds, but worked.Fast forward: 2 months later, my spry 10 , nothing escapes my curious and insatiable needs pup, chewed up a 50 pill bottle of Pro Biotic vits! Found this out 1/2 hour later...no destress on my puppy but  panicked. She apparently pulled her 3'-1/2" length body onto a desk and took opps to grab this seeming curious impenigible bottle. Destroyed the bottle and the pills were digested. Fortunately I called 8AM, spoke to the vet and took her in. 6 hours later...she was fine...again Excellent care! Read Less

I knew Dr. Salinas from a previous vet clinic so was confident wherever he was would be of good quality care.  Dr Lamp actually was the one who helped with my dogs orthopedic issues and was very kind and thorough and explained our options.  He will be having surgery soon there and I have full confidence that it will all go well.  Thank you Dr. Lamp for all of your care!  The staff is very kind and helpful as well and I am considering changing from one to the other clinics for his care. I took Enzo to Alley Cat based on referrals from others. It was a very thorough initial appointment with Dr. Salinas.  I was happy to hear him say that he prefers not to medicate animals unless absolutely necessary and gave me several other options for Enzo's itchy back. I got Enzo's shots all updated and he's good to go - healthy little guy. I thought the staff was very nice and worked with my dog very well. I would refer other animal lovers to this vet. Read Less

I had to make a very difficult decision yesterday for my 16 year old cat. The staff at Alley Cat was so understanding and kind during the process. They kept me informed of all options and any treatments available, including costs which were very reasonable. They got him in right away when I called. I took in a stray cat about a month ago....it was love at first sight.  I named him Hamilton and he is now out "outside" cat.  I noticed him tugging on his ear one day and itching and just not acting like himself. I looked inside and noticed he had ear mites and maybe an infection.  Alley Cat fit me in for a same day appointment and were absolutely wonderful.  It was very traumatic for Hamilton being in a crate for first time and even more traumatic for me.  He was very violent and stressed and I was in tears by the time we saw the vet.  Everyone was so sweet and patient and by the end of the visit, Hamilton was purring and lounging on the table with ease.  I got all his meds and some vaccinations and hopefully he will start feeling better soon.  Thank you to the staff and the Dr for helping me and my young one. Hi, we just went to Alley Cat and were treated amazing! Their visit is $49 and they are extremely reasonable with prices. We learned the other day that our dog likely had lung cancer at only 4 years of age. Thanks to them running tests that every other vet voted against, we learned he actually has a fungal infection. They spent a long time walking us through our options, educating us and even got on the phone to speak to other family members to discuss the case. That was the first time I had met the vet and she already felt like family. She even got tears in her eyes, got down on the floor with my big dog, and held him. I HIGHLY recommend them. Read Less

Very nice staff and Dr. Lamp was awesome! I am on a budget but my blue nose pitbull needed to get a suspicious lump checked out and sure enough it was skin cancer. I had no idea how much it would cost and they were very accommodating when I told them I didn't have all of the money upfont so they told me to sign up for Care Credit so I could spread out the payments and that helped me out a lot (I wanted to help my baby girl no matter what but I have a low salary and care credit made the surgery possible). The staff remembers my girl and she loves all of them, and Dr. Lamp did a beautiful surgery that is healing great! Dr. Miller and Dr. Lamp and staff were wonderful, caring, compassionate with our 9 year old Button Cat. Our poor cat was found after missing several days. We took him to our friends at Alley Cat. He was gravely ill and Dr. Miller and his vet techs saw us right away and explained treatment options. We were able to visit him during his one week hospitalization and received daily calls and updates in his progress. I started going to Alley Cat when one of my four dogs had an issue that needed immediate attention. I called the vet that I was going to for my babies, and they couldn't squeeze him in but told me that I should be concerned. So I called the first vet in the phone book(which was alley cat) and they told me to bring him in. I got there and everyone was so friendly and helpful.
