DO NOT COME HERE! This place used to be awesome when Dr. Lung and his staff were here. We brought our dog in for a foxtail removal and after spending the entire day there...they failed to remiove it even though they said they did from his left nostril. They heavily sedated my dog...he couldn’t even walk or keep his eyes open and had to be carried at 5:30pm despite having the supposed procedure in the morning. They didn’t show us the foxtail on a gauze they claimed they removed when we picked him up. He started sneezing again that night and next day which led us to believe that he still had the foxtail in his left nostril because it was still secreting a lot of mucus. We took him in the next day and asked for antibiotics which is standard after foxtail removal and they only gave us an anti-inflammatory and said that it is normal for dogs to keep sneezing after foxtail removal...wait a few more days and if he doesn’t stop bring him back in for a more expensive endoscopy procedure. After another day and night of heavy sneezing and mucus, we took him to another vet to get a second opinion and sure enough they found a foxtail in his left nostril which they showed us on a gauze! They didn’t even have to dig deep in there, it was close to the surface and were done within an hour. My dog came out alert and walking! My husband went back to California Pet Hospital to talk to the Clinical Director about our experience and how dissatisfied we were but she was so rude and talked over him the whole time. They only care about money and not about you or your pet. They could’ve killed my dog! This second review is to correct the lies that were written from the owners response...When we took our dog back on Tuesday, 6/19. Dr. Louis Roussille noticed that he did have mucus discharge from his left nostril and drew a diagram of our dog’s nostril and showed us that he went up as far as he could go and was certain he removed the foxtail. He never mentioned the possibility of a second foxtail. Also, the “courtesy” recheck was not really a courtesy recheck that you wanted to grant us...you were going to charge us for the recheck but when my husband talked to your staff about why we shouldn’t be charged for a 5 min consultation...you agreed not to charge us. After talking to different Vets and checking various websites, antibiotics are recommended after foxtail removal because foxtails carry bacteria and there is a chance of infection. Read Less

This review is long overdue. I can not say enough good things about Dr. Lung and his staff. We have going to them for years with multiple animals for a variety of reasons. We have both cats and dogs, and find ourselves only going to CA Small Animal Hospital because of the top notch care, from puppies shots to a sad day when we had to bid a final farewell to our decades old cat. The front desk staff is always kind and accommodating, and Dr. Lung himself is fantastic. He takes great care to do the very best for each individual animal, never orders extraneous tests or anything like that, we are consulted in everything every step of the way. I feel safe and secure leaving our very special family members in their care, a truly wonderfully run establishment. Read Less

My cat was having urinary problems for an entire year and each time we brought him in Dr. O'Connell said she thought it was behavioral and the entire time I continued to say I really thought something was wrong with him. Two weeks agao he began yowling and urinating all over the house again and I had my husband bring him to be tested for UTI (the third time tested) and Dr. O'Connell said there was no infection and she said it could be stones, but more than likely just behavioral. One week later you could not pick him up without it hurting and he was still urinating all over the place. I made my husband take him in again and this time Dr. Lung saw him and felt his bladder and knew something was definately wrong. He took and xray; Jello had over 30 stones in his Urethra and they needed to operate. we were told it would be about $1500 and on Thursday, Dr. Lung called and said the cost was up to $2500 and would be more but that we could possibly work out with some sort of payment plan and in the meantime Jello was looking good and they were probably going to take out the catheter since the new xray indicated no stones left in the urethra. This morning (Sat) Dr. O'Connell called and she said she took out the catherter yesterday and came in this mor ning and realized Jello was all backed up and had not urintaed, so she took an xray and their was one stone remaining. She said to come pick up the cat and take him to ermergency surgery sin ce she did not have the time (What's wrong with this picture???) and their office closed at 2:00 p.m. and they do not have time to work on him (how extremely rude and unprofessional is that???). My husband called Silverado Vet Hospital and they said they would take him and put the catherter back in until the doctor who will perform the second surgery on him to keep him alive. When my husband went to pick our cat up at California Pet Hospital the receptionist stopped him and said we needed to pay the bill ($3,960). Well, we do not have the money for this and they did not comepletely fix our cat, nor did they take the proactive attempt today to try to put the catheter back in because Dr. O'Connell was too busy!! What is wrong with this picture here and where is Dr. O'Connell compassion? In my eyes it does not exist and she made the mistake in the first place. Read Less

After much research online we decided to bring our rescue puppy to Dr. Lung. He was a nice Dr. really took the time to talk to us and aswer any questions that we had. What prevents me from giving this Pet Hospital 5 stars was the front desk staff. Very impersonal. I'm surprised that I did not get a reminder call. They were not friendly. Did not explain my bill. They just seemed to hate their job. I work for a dental office (6 years) so I'm not new to customer service in a medical office. Patients want to know what they have to pay for and why. Answer questions and to be greeted when they are new to the practice. The staff did not match the Dr. who was so friendly and personable. Haven't decided if we will continue to go here. Read Less

I still consider him one of the nicest and best people I know.

Read Less

Dr. Lung is one of those individuals who makes you want to be a better person! His compassion in dealing with our dog's disease and ultimately, his passing, makes me come from Vallejo to have him see our animals. He has treated Pato, Chloe and now Oso, and I will never go anywhere else. I hope that you take your animals to him. You won't be sorry. Read Less
