This is an exceptionally professional and considerate clinic.  I am so grateful I found Dr. Canan.  His care and attentiveness are exemplary.  My older cat had been struggling with sleep and wreaking havoc throughout the night.  Dr. Canan was empathetic, dedicated and patient as we had to trial 5 different meds.  When I'd call after a sleepless night, he and his staff were highly responsive and Dr. Canan took fast action to research new options and work with a compounding pharmacy.  Though he is incredibly busy, Dr. Canan makes himself available after hours - he always returns calls the same day and sends Rxs to the pharmacy quickly.  It truly feels as if my cat is his only patient.  THANK YOU, DR. I have been very happy with everything about this vet! My dogs see Dr. glazer and she is an amazing vet and delivers amazing customer service. She always calls me promptly regarding tests or anything, I'm never having to chase her down, and she is thorough with her exams and answers all of my questions. NP Vet provides compassionate care for our dog and cats. Scheduling appointments is easy and affordable. My 10 year old dog had lost energy over the past 12 months which we chalked up to old age. Then she suddenly got very ill and stopped eating. They treated her symptoms and ran blood work, which showed hyperthyroidism. I'm sad to say that today was our last day visiting this vet clinic, because we are moving. My dog had a rough start of abuse and when we adopted him it was very hard for him to build trust with others. Dr. Glaser was absolutely amazing at bonding with my dog. I have to admit, I do worry a lot about his health and every concern I have ever had (no matter how ridiculous) she has treated me and my dog with so much respect and kindness. I have taken him to other vets before and they were unwilling to work with him because he was so scared. I have never met a more patient, mellow person than Dr. Glaser. She is the absolute best. Absolutely excellent customer service from Karen on the phone. I was inquiring about a couple test I needed to perform on my Chesapeake Bay Retriever. I had been calling around to different vet clinics in the Conejo valley. They were all asking very high prices for very simple test. Brucellosis test and progesterone test. Karen called me back and said Dr. Canen recommended I contact a specific vet in the valley because that vet would cost me less money and she specialized in Chesapeake Bay Retrievers and the tests I needed. I called the Veterinarian in the valley and her prices were a third of what everyone else was asking.This place clearly cares more about the well being of your pets than filling their own pocket book with money.Highly recommend this place.Thank you. I have a 17 year old cat, a ten year old Schnauzer and an 8 year old Lab - all in excellent health thanks to the wonderful care they receive at the NP Vet Clinic.  I would never take my pets anywhere else.  Dr. Canan performed two life-saving emergency surgeries on my Lab.  Dr. Glazer successfully removed a ginormous growth from the face of my 17 year old cat and my Schnauzer still looks and behaves like a puppy thanks to her excellent care.  Before any procedure they provide a treatment plan so there are no surprises or hidden costs. Most amazing vet clinic I've ever gone to, my dog was diagnosed with very advanced spleen cancer yesterday and we had to put him down, yesterday being one of the hardest days I've ever had to go through I can honestly say the entire staff made it all the more bearable. They were very accommodating they gave me 2 hours with my dog to say my goodbyes and have my family come and say their goodbyes, and they didn't even charge me for the X-rays they had to perform to see the tumors. The vet and the staff were in tears and their sympathy felt so genuine. I highly recommend taking your pet here because all though yesterday was horrible every visit prior has been a delight and they truly don't over charge and you can tell they really care about all animals. Thank you to Dr. Hyman, Dr. Canan and the rest of the staff for taking good care of my cats over the last 7 years. I appreciate their honesty and their willingness to answer my questions, even when I have a lot of them. They also are very reasonable with their treatment of all pets and they do what is best with both the patient and owner in mind. I recently had my cat in for a dental cleaning and was worried about the anesthesia. Cindy did a great job on the cleaning and I felt at ease after I dropped her off that she was in good hands. She ended up having four teeth extracted and Dr. Hyman worked hard to do this carefully, especially with the large teeth. My cat is doing well a week after the surgery and I trust that they did the best for my cat. They also helped me feel that this will help her in the long run. I also wanted to say that I think Justine is great and I always feel calmer when she is there. She handles my cats with the best care, e is very sweet and she listens to my concerns.Read Less

I have been going to this veterinary clinic since the late 80's when Dr. Rich owned it whom I adored. Dr. Hyman and Dr. Canan took over and they are also wonderful! I have used their services many, many times a year and have always felt welcome, that they truly cared about my dogs, and that seeing them was a priority. Three of my dogs has passed on in their office and they were very kind and understanding with all as well as helping me thru MANY emergencies with my current beagle who has had multiple illnesses and surgeries. I have 4 dogs right now that they are the primary care doctors for and I trust them implicitly, currently usually see Dr. Glaser who I find to be gentle, sweet, she listens well, she cares and she is willing to look outside the box when things are not going as planned. From making the appointment, to the truly caring staff, Dr. Hyman, Dr. Canon and Dr. Glaser, I can tell you that it doesn't get more professional than this! These are all caring people! My animals even like going to the clinic, and no, I'm not kidding! They too love the Doctor's and staff! This goes far beyond professionalism. I have had my dogs, cats, lizards and birds treated here over the years with great care and very fair prices. The point to be made here is that these are honest vets and have both the pet's and owners best interest in mind. I am very particular when it comes to cleanliness and organization of a doctors office. Two words-they care. They care about their pet patients and their clients that love them. Dr Hyman is an outstanding, knowledgeable, compassionate vet who properly diagnoses by comprehensively examining, working with the owner thus quickly figuring out the issue without wasting huge amounts of monies on guess work testing. I have had three beautiful dogs treated by this clinic  for 20+ years and I would absolutely not go elsewhere. This clinic has walked my three dogs from birth through to old age and sadly on to two elderly life's endings. I attribute much of their long healthy lives to his care. My middle aged,  wonderfully healthy Vizsla has been in his care for all her life and he insures her well being and longevity by his utmost pro active professional care and counsel. I cannot seem to find a reason to not praise this office.  The staff has always been friendly and eager to help.  The Dr's are knowledgeable and have always offered many options regarding treatment plans.  I've taken all my dogs there, and have been seen by all the vets there.  My main vet, Dr Glaser, has been great with sll of my dogs.  One dog in particular, that  dog had a seizure, and as a result had a sudden onset of aggression.  After some trial and error, we were able to find a treatment that helped both my dog and our family.  It is an ongoing treatment, that in the grand scheme of things was not really all that expensive. It's weird, my dogs actually LIKE going to the vet there.  That's gotta say something!  Is it pricey?,  maybe....  But any good vet is.  Remember, you get what you pay for.  I would rather shell out a few extra dollars ( not that I have a pile of cash laying around, who does these days) and know that my pets are getting quality care and attention. My advice: find a more professional vet.After moving to the area, I looked at several vet offices and went to Newbury Park due to a friend's recommendation.  I brought my dogs in with their vaccination histories from previous vets, so they could get all set up in this vet's system.  Somehow, the admins here couldn't seem to get their vaccination records aligned with the paper-copy forms I gave them.  I had to call back several times to get the errors corrected.You may wonder why paperwork and records errors are important.  In addition to paperwork being an easy indicator of how professional an office is overall, paperwork matters because of rabies vaccinations.  You see, if you miss your rabies vaccination due date, then you end up on a different schedule for future vaccinations.  Furthermore, if some sloppy vet's office has errant records, and you have to demonstrate that your dog is up to date on rabies vaccinations (lest your dog be quarantined), then the last thing you want is incorrect documentation floating around showing that vaccinations have expired when they have not.You may wonder if I am so negative just on paperwork.  No.  When I brought my dogs in in the first place, it was because I needed to renew their prescriptions for heartworm medication.  Part of the procedure for doing that is to take a stool sample, and yet somehow the vet forgot to take a sample for one of my dogs.  Remember, this was the entire reason I brought the dogs in to the office.  So, I had to bring my dog back to the office (thereby wasting more of my time) and pay their stupid fee again (thereby wasting my money).  Really, can we not maintain our attention span for 5 minutes?Unfortunately, my dogs can't tell me when something is wrong with their vets' competence, and their lack of language skills makes evaluating a vet a bit tough at times.  I feel fortunate to have had such clear experiences showing this office's lack of professionalism and lack of attention to detail well in advance of an acute need. I'm surprised to only see one other review! The Newbury Park Vet Clinic has always been an outstanding clinic. When I first adopted my puppy (6 years ago), I lucked out and chose this veterinary clinic out of convenience (I lived in Newbury Park). I still bring my baby here for planned appointments - even though I live in Santa Barbara! The staff has without fail been extremely friendly, upbeat, and give sweet attention to every animal that walks in the doors. I do not request a particular vet when I go, because I have seen all three (I guess there are only two now), and they all are fantastic - they listen, they aren't rushed, they get down on their hands and knees with the dog, and they are thorough.
