This is the best animal hospital in Santa Clarita, Ca. Dr. Bhupinder-Singh and his crew are amazing!!! Thank you very much Valley Lyon Pet Hospital for taking such a great care of my miniature Dachshund, dog Cachito during the last 8 years!! You guys have always been very professional, caring and compassionate no only to the pets but also to the pets owners (us). When this place changed ownership, I was concern about how the new administration would be, and I am very happy to... say that this place is even better than it was before! About two weeks ago, during a Sunday night, my dog Cachito was experiencing a lot pain and disconnected. Because this happened during after regular hours, I had to take him to another place open 24 hrs. At this other place they simply cleaned my dog's the anal glands and provided some medication/ointment; however, my dog continued experiencing pain and kept me up all night. As soon as Valley Lyons Pet Hospital open up on Monday morning, and took my dog to them for another assessment, and I leaned that the 24 Hrs. hospital not only gave my dog the wrong medication without an accurate prognostic, but they also gave me the wrong instructions to apply an ointment on my dog's anal area. Thankfully, at Valley Lyons Pet Hospital, Dr. Bhupinder-Singh, ordered a blood test and ex-rays that reveled that my dog had an enlarged heart, enlarged liver, and a severe inflammation/irritation on his anal glands. Dr. Bhupimder Singh also prescribed antibiotics, pain medication, and a special diet that almost immediately and significantly showed an improvement on my dog's health. Within 24 hours after Cachito been treated by Dr. Bhupinder-Singh, Cachito back to normal, happy and playful. Thank you very much Dr. Bhupimder Singh for your assertiveness and compassion to treat Cachito; you are amazing!! My dog, Mr Jenkins, is so lucky the staff and doctors at Valley Lyons Pet Hospital are all so amazing!!! He's been out of sorts and I've been freaking out over it (he's 12 now), and today they diagnosed his problem! Bladder stones. Poor fur baby must have had monster pain!! I'm so happy they found out what was wrong with him so quickly, I think we both already feel better!!! The doctors and staff are genuine, thorough and not pushy or trying to up sell procedures... Valley Lyons Pet Hospital is the best place I know to take our Dogs for all of their health care needs. We have had our dog spayed here all well as surgery when a fox tail we up her nose. They have a shot clinic on Tuesdays, Thursday's and Saturdays. We have been coming here for 20 plus years and wouldn't think of going anyplace else. One of our dogs is on a special diet and Valley Lyons Pet Hospital carries a good supply of Hills Prescription Diet, so we naturally purchase all her food here. We took our beautiful maine coon mix Sebastian here several times when he was having some trouble with his urinary tract. The doctor was very informative and helpful, they took great care of our boy. The receptionist that helped us buy his prescription diet was very warm and gave great advice! This is our favorite clinic in SCV, we trust them with our pets and you should too!  Recommended! DO NOT GO HERE!!! The staff is very rude and unprofessional. I was visiting from the east coast and needed an updated health certificate to fly with my puppy back home. I found an ad in a circular for a coupon for new patients and thought we would give it a try. When we got to the office on the day of the appointment, the receptionist was very rude and condescending and made comments when I brought her copies of my puppy's medical paperwork from our vet back on the east coast. She remarked that she didn't need to see a copy of my puppy's health certificate because she couldn't use it since she had to put her own signature. I explained that I brought it for her to see what his vet back home had written on it and she just gave me a dirty look. Next we went back into the examination room where the tech was very rough and impatient with my puppy, not giving him time to adjust to her. The poor guy screamed when she angrily called an assistant to come into the room to hold him while she shoved a thermometer in his bum. I was mortified and even more worried about what the vet would be like. To my surprise he was very nice and professional, commenting that my copy of my puppy's health records and travel certificates were very helpful and would make the paperwork process so much easier for him. He took the copy and told us to wait in the waiting room and would be good to go afterwards. When we were called to the front desk for the checkout process, the receptionist tried to have us pay for some other dog's medication and when I questioned why, she angrily told me that my puppy's information had been entered into someone else's chart (one that was not even close to my name, mind you), and needed a minute to fix it. Then when it came to checking out, she charged me a bill far more expensive than what the person whom I spoke with on the phone when I made the appointment with the coupon said, and then proceeded to argue with me about it. When I called her out on her unprofessional attitude, she blamed it on her co-worker who apparently messes things up all the time (also not very professional). She remarked that she was tired of getting yelled at for her co-worker's mistakes (also very unprofessional).Case in point, the vet is great, but the receptionist and other staff are rude, they clearly don't have their HIPAA information correct/ don't enter patient info correctly, are not gentle with your pets, and lie about their prices. I would not take any pet back here especially for a more complicated procedure where even more mistakes can happen that could lead to something fatal. Read Less

I would not go back there our cat Jimmy is dead becuase of their neglect or lack of proper treatment. The vets there float to other clinics so if its something serious nobody is really responsible to follow the condition of the pet. They made $900 and the wont call you back very unorganized they pass the pet files like its a computer being repaired. After doing my own research they could have just put my cat on and IV to keep it hydrated. The owner has too many clinics and cant mange them properly much less the health of your animal. I would find a smaller clinic where the vets work there everyday and follow your pets condition. Also your pet ( cats mostly) need digestive enzymes on a regular basis because most pet foods don't have these in them . they would normally get them from eating birds and mice. First off to gauge where this review or who it comes from.  this is about the second review I have ever written. But... But ... I am realizing we do have a voice now through these reviews and social media. Rather than just complain to each other and let people get away with this Baloney lets' make it public...   In the past, we could only take people to court and nobody wins... And in most cases, nobody ever knew customers were fighting with the business owner if they felt they were miss treated or cheated so the business owner could do it again and again.  But now we can at least share our (customers) side of the story and business owners can't just go on handling their business anyway they choose because these reviews will catch up to them.    My review. Well it's about Jimmy our family cat.  My Dad passed away suddenly and my son will never meet his Grandpa now.  While visiting his farm, we rescued a little baby kitten whose entire family had been killed.   We brought I'm out here a few years ago, and named him Jimmy after my Dad.  Not being a big cat person and at the time against the idea I realized he was probably the coolest cat I had ever gotten to know. Most cats being scared and ski-dish you could pound a hammer on metal next to his head and he would just sit there and look at you, we called him inspector Jimmy. He was always around and guarded the yard like a dog against any other animal. Played with our French mastiff and 2-year-old son.    Jimmy's what I had left of a little piece of my Dad.  I knew cats can live up to 20 and thought well my son will have a piece of his grandpa for 10-15 more years.  Sounds silly but if that's all you have left of his grandparents it holds great value and meaning.  So, is this just about a cat? If vets looked at the meaning or value of a pet as opposed to how much they can make off them...     Jimmy stopped eating and drinking and looked very sick so we took him to Valley Lyons pet hospital.  They sent us home with an Est $400 bill and some medicine.  No diagnoses.  We are back as instructed a few days later and said nothing change many days now no change not eating or drinking or going to bathroom. And looking very, very weak and hardly moving.  They said oh let's try a blood test and of course more meds and another big bill.  While waiting in Lobby we met another client who's cat is having the same issues.   "Hey do you think they could have told us wow we have a couple cats with the same issues should we compare notes.  No then we can't keep having them come back every couple days and give them a new invoice. "So, Saturdays visit they take blood test and Monday we will have the results.  "Is there anything else we can do for you today" the red. headed vet said... who I thought by the way was an assistant or something.   I gulped and said ahh well wait yes, we well he hasn't eaten drank peed nothing for a week and Monday is 3 more days away what can we do will he make it?  Let me ask you what would you do if this were your cat...   He said well give him the pain meds and we will call you Monday.  Monday night after no calls and my wife calling they said oh Tuesday we will have the results sorry for the delay.  Monday night I tried again and again giving him food and liquid and nothing and he was so weak but stilled purred.  Tuesday morning I woke up to Jimmy letting out 7-8 loud harsh raspy breaths then he died right there while I was petting him. So, my wife called again Tuesday no results then later that day my wife called again and finally got a vet on the phone. She said well we don't have all the tests back but we should wait till tomorrow to get the rest.  She asked how is Jimmy doing.   My wife finally said Jimmy Died this morning and we are pretty upset how this has been handled or not handled...  the vet said oh my would you like to talk to the owner.  We of course said yes!!   But no call.  The next day my wife called again and got a vet on the phone and she said they got the results back and we should maybe do this or that... how is Jimmy doing.  My wife said he died yesterday and I told your office this why don't you know this by looking at the file!  The vet said oh would you like to talk to the owner and we said yes, we do of course as our young healthy cat should not be dead.  No call from the owner. Just a note to all and SCV Valley. Valley Lyons vet is no longer the place to go. They have changed their management to a completely irresponsible and aggressive abusive Human being. We have gone there for years and had great service and now it is changed and is a place that you should not go. The doctor is a good guy and a very great veterinarian but he has chosen a manager that is not the standard that is expected in the veterinarian's office. This is a very sad situation because now we have to find a place for all of our animals to be taking care of when we were comfortable there 3 months ago. After two years, I went back Valley Lyons Pet Hospital. My dog has been doing fine since he was treated there over two years ago. Went back for a check up. I can't begin to express how wonderful it felt to walk in to this facility and see the staff I met two years ago. They were very welcoming and pet loving as ever! That was an awesome start. Then I was informed Dr.Kwon no longer owns this facility and I'd be meeting the new doctor. Dr. Ghar. I was a little concerned about seeing a new doctor. Dr. Ghar walks in and as soon as he opened that door and greeted me and my doggie, I immediately felt the great connection! Very very compassionate, informative, knowledgeable and loving to my doggie. I felt so comfortable the whole time he was there. I'm very thrilled to know my doggie will have a new primary doctor such as Dr. Ghar. Blood work was ordered and doggie was taken to the back while I waited in the lobby and all I could hear was the two staff members doing the blood work on my dog was babying him, praising him, complimenting him on his scarf., my oh my that just felt amazing! At that point I sat back and took a deep breath and relaxed, because I knew he was in great hands with loving caring people. I almost went to a different clinic due to financial reasons, but at the end I decided to go back to them and I'm very very glad I did. They will work with you. This is a great Animal Clinic. I've been taking my dogs here for many years and had nothing but good experiences from helpful staff. Most recently I had my dogs teeth cleaned and 3 extracted at a very reasonable price. For a VERY short time I tried another clinic on the advice of a beloved neighbor but wow, what a difference, not only in customer service but also in the high prices they charged me.. I will always go to Valley Lyons from now on! Dr. Kwon is thorough, knowledgable and doesn't do unnecessary procedures just to make more money! We switched from another vet in Saugus after doing research on price and our overall concern about quality. Valley Lyons has been great - Dr. Kwon and the staff are very friendly, helpful and clearly care about the 'patient' and customer service.They have been kind, explained costs upfront, and are more reasonably priced than other vets we've been to. Our dog is chronically ill (and the best dog we've ever had) and we have to monitor him closely with regular checkups. The checkups are better priced by about 25% and the prescription food needed is also 25-30% less than the vet we used to go to. Valley Lyons provides the level of care that we feel confident with, and we feel treated fairly.I have experienced what another reviewer mentioned of being charged for things I didn't explicitly approve of. I didn't feel like Dr. Kwon was trying to maximize his profits (since I know VLPC is more fairly priced than other vets in the SCV), but he definitely needs to work on being more clear about what care is chargeable before doing it.Thanks VLPC for the great job, overall. This review is for their Low Cost Vaccination Clinic only, not their full vet services. It is available on Thursday afternoon.I preferred it to some of the other LCVCs in town because:A) You don't have to pay for an exam, even if you are not already a patient of their full vet service. Several of the vets in town who offer LCVC tack on an exam fee if you are not a current patient. (You still have to fill out new patient forms here, of course.)B) They allow you to pay with credit card. At many of the LCVC it is cash only.C) It wasn't a zoo.  Of course, it could be sometimes, and my timing might have been just right, but all I know is what I saw, and it wasn't overly crowded and chaotic.D) You do get to go into a private exam room for the vaccination. Some LCVCs are super quick assembly line situations, which makes sense from a efficiency stand point, but adds to the chaos and can make it more difficult on nervous pets.Anyhow, it was my first time using the place for any service, and the experience was positive, and it was the best LCVC experience I've ever had. I have called to get a appt. and the gal that answers the phone is very rude and seemed like she rather be someone else then at work helping the animals. I was left on hold for 10min!!! I called in to get an emergency appt. for my dogs eye. when i adopted him from the pound he only has one eye, so saving his only eye saved is really important . after i explained this to the receptionist, was very rude and acted like she didnt even care. the first appointment was in two days! Finally found a Vet for my cats! Valley Lyons Pet Clinic took care of my cat and they're affordable (I'm a college student). I was so impress with how they fit me in when my cat had an emergency, they took care of my cat! The office called me the next day to see how my cat was doing and gave me some suggestions on how to make my cat feel comfortable. When I went back to have her rechecked they didn't charge me an office visit. I've been to a few Vets in the Santa Clarita area and I can finally call Valley Lyons Pet my Vet. Read Less

Valley Lions is the only vet I would recommend to anyone in the SCV. Dr Braunstein and her staff is extemely honest and caring. I brought my cat Chimi in because he was sick. The staff was honest from the beginning with his prognossis and did all that they could to save him for two days. When he took a turn for the worse, they contacted me and ensured that my last moments with him were special. Needless to say they showed compassion all the way to the end and even days later. The staff is ruder, all they care about is raising there prices. There hours change all the time like there staff. I don't know how may times i have left messages for the doctor to call me back, and he never dose. I went there and had my dogs teeth cleaned, and the added all this other stuff on that i did not ask for. The next day when i called because i was having problems with my baby..... i was ether left on hold, or told he will call me back. What happened next well i had to go to a emergency place and it cost me $5,000.00 to try and save my baby from everything they did. Sadly my baby passes away and still never heard back from them. Very dissatisfied with the care of our 15 year old cat.  The staff seems friendly and helpful, but Dr Kwon was a disappointment.  He was afraid to examine our cat for fear he would get bit - she's the equivalent of an 86 year old and was weak at the time - he was in no danger! My wife had to threaten not to pay the 50$ fee to get him to move forward. He ended up putting a muzzle on her to examine her completely missing an issue with her eye. After doing blood work he left a near unintelligible message on the answering machine.   After calling him back we were more confused with the lab results - he didn't seem to care to talk through what was discovered in any detail.  When we questioned him on one of the findings he got flustered quickly and stated he needed to recheck with the lab.  $250 later we're no closer to understanding how to best treat our pet.  Needless to say we're taking her somewhere else. I had to take my pet here not too long ago, and I have to say from the moment you walk in the door , until you leave you can tell that these people love animals. The girls at the front desk are wonderful... they are so nice and helpful, they make you feel welcome and comfortable. The entire staff is experienced and knowledgable. The doctors are gentle and compassionate. A very well-kept and clean facility. Estimates are important here, you know exactly what you are getting for affordable prices. I took my dog in for an annual checkup. The place was clean, spacious, and the staff helpful. I called in beforehand to find out what they charge for the checkup and booster shots and it came out to $42, $48 respectively. I ended up getting just the checkup because Santa Clarita Animal Hospital has weekly vaccination clinic on Wednesdays for $25 for everything. Well, the examination went well. He checked for fleas, eye, ears, teeth, heart health and everything came out fine. Then he goes "I'm now going to cut some hairs in his ears" and goes into another room with my dog and comes back a minute later. He then tells me "bring a stool sample and I'll check for parasites," as if it's part of the check up and I tell him okay. He then goes on about neutering my dog and tells me that he'll clean his teeth while he's asleep and clean more deeply into his ears. Well, when it came time to pay, it turned out he charged me $15 to cut the inside of his ears, which literally took him a minute to do, and did without even getting authorization from me. I didn't want to make that big of a deal out of it so I ended up paying. Then the worker asks "do you want to pre-pay for the stool anaylsis?" and I told her no, but hey I'll buy a bridge in Kentucky later on yeah? They then write up a neutering estimate, which turns out to be TBD because he may or may not need certain things but was very persistent that he gets neutered right away. Vet. Kwon was a pretty gentle fellow, but he's incorporated some very shady tactics in order to maximize profit. He charged me for a service that he didn't ask if I wanted to be done, and he acts like he's doing you a favor but in reality charges for everything. The estimate for the neutering ended up having more prices tacked on for the teeth cleaning and ear cleaning, things that he played off as if he was doing me a favor. AND his estimates are not even real estimates because he says that some of the things he won't know if he'll charge or not until during the surgery... then what's the point of even getting the estimate?
