I just realized when I "accidentally" uploaded the pics of the Woof hats I only gave this place one star. My mistake! I've brought my rescue kids (pups) here since they moved from Tupelo Dr. I currently have 2 boys & 1 little girl. They're almost exactly 4 years apart; 11, 7 & 3. I'm so happy I brought my pup here when she got a skin infection on her belly. Heidi, the manager, is literally as sweet as pie. She was the one who answered the phone when I made the appointment, and she greeted us both by name when we entered, even though it was our first visit to VCA. I was initially nervous, but just hearing Heidi happily chime, "So this must be Alissia and Cucumber!" really helped put me at ease. The patient that had the appointment before us was leaving just as we arrived, so we had the waiting room to ourselves. This was so nice because we were able to relax a bit before the appointment instead of getting all keyed up in a waiting room with a million other dogs and cats. Dr. Bill Faust was awesome. He is a chipper guy who is always smiling, which is so important in a vet, since dogs sense people's energy. His upbeat demeanor really helped my pup get comfortable with him right away. He was thorough in his examination, and lanced Cucumber's abscess so gently that she didn't even make a peep. As soon as she would get squirmy because of the pain, he'd give her a little break to calm down before getting back to work. He just had a great awareness of her pain threshold even though it was our first visit, for which I was BEYOND GRATEFUL. I just don't like to see my little girl suffer. Another thing I loved was how much time he took at the end of the consultation to answer my questions. He was not at all in a hurry, and seemed truly invested in getting Cue healthy. He prescribed her antibiotics that are working wonders, as her infection is almost completely cleared up six days later. If I could give 6 stars I would. Thanks VCA Highlands team for giving us such amazing care and for treating us like old friends. You are our new go-to vet in Sacramento! Read Less

Been there twice and I'm very satisfied. In my first visit I was very worried how my dog would react since she doesn't like strangers, but they were very professional and nice and it was just a great experience. I have been taking my dogs and cats to VCA Highlands for almost 30 years. They have always been friendly and compassionate. Dr. Anderson and the office staff are wonderful. He genuinely cares about his patients and their people. The cats know and trust him. He has always taken the time to help me understand what needs to be done to make the pets well when they come in sick or injured and is gentle and caring. With their help I have had cats live to 18 and 19 years of age. I currently have 3 cats 15, 12 and 2 and I wouldn't take them to anyone else! Dr. Andersen is the vet for both my cat and dog. Whenever we see him, I feel as though he is truly concerned about the well-being of our animals. Dr. Andersen seems to understand when cost becomes a problem, and he's able to help us decide which tests/treatments will provide the most benefit. Read Less

I took my dog there for a checkup and the vet (skinny white guy) was very rude. Did not help me at all. Seemed like he just wanted to get the checkup over with and was trying to get me to pay in advance for treatments I am or may not come back for. Simple questions I asked him, he would not provide answers to. I asked him if it was possible for them to show me how to do my dog's anal glands myself, he said sure, just bring him in next time he has a problem (so he can charge me for the next visit instead of doing it while I'm right there!).
