I have nothing but praise for Dr. Cal Cadmus and the staff at Oakdale Veterinary Group. Our three and a half year old Jack Russell Terrier Tia was diagnosed with a Medial Patellar Luxation (knee cap would slide off and cause her to go lame) by our veterinarian and referred us to Dr. Cadmus. Though it was a 110 mile round trip drive from home I would travel any distance to receive the service I did here! Dr. Cadmus evaluated Tia intently and thoroughly on our first visit. He confirmed that the diagnosis of the vet was correct and explained all of the possibilities for the luxation of the patella. During the consultation, he used physical models to demonstrate the problem, explained it in plain understandable language, provided us with time to ask all of our questions, and explained the recovery. At the outset, he provided us with a cost estimate which was VERY fair so we knew what we were getting into. We had dropped her off on a Monday, had surgery Tuesday, and we picked her up on Wednesday. Post-surgery, Dr. Cadmus called to let us know how it went immediately after completion, what the problem was, and provided us with the status that she was doing well. Upon pickup, Dr. Cadmus himself met with us again, explained (with models) exactly what had been done, provided us with all of the medications and instructions throughout the recovery process. The follow-up paperwork was clearly written and easy to understand and was just as Dr. Cadmus had explained. He made himself available for ANY follow-up questions or problems if they were to arise. In addition, I was told that on rare occasions, bone can grow back and cause a recurrence of the problem but the surgery is guaranteed, so there would be no charge if a second surgery was necessary. Once again, this is a rare occasion so I dont expect Ill have to take advantage of it, but it is nice to know they stand behind their work. At the time of this writing, which is 4 days after the surgery, Tia has recovered remarkably! She is already walking without a limp and actually pulls me on the leash. If it werent for Dr. Cadmus strict instructions regarding reduced activity for 6 weeks, Id say shes ready to run and resume her normal activities which involves chasing squirrels, rodents and anything that invades her turf. I plan to update this blog when Tia has been given the go for full throttle. If you love your pets, take them here! It is evident that Dr. Cadmus and the staff love animals as we do. They are not just a business.Read Less
