Dr Gordon is AMAZING! I was so excited when I took my dog in for a visit today and Dr. Gordon was her doctor. He actually did her knee surgery when we lived in Orange County a few years ago. We went to several vets and spent a lot of money before we found Dr Gordon and he was quickly able to recognize it was her knee that needed care. We had to find a new vet since we moved to Oceanside. I went here off the positive reviews, not realizing he worked here too. Well to my luck and great surprise, he happened to be her doctor again tonight and I almost cried with happiness. We have been bringing both Dutch and Stormie here for the last 5 or so years now and every time has always been great. Can't think of anything bad to say about any of their appts. I don't really have much to compare to for pricing but I believe it's absolutely fair what they charge. However money is not even close to the reason we keep coming back. They definitely treat your pets as if money isn't the reason they are doing it. I get a true sense that they all compassionately care about animals. This is our 4th vet with our special needs cat, Dr Burnell has been wonderful. She is very gentle and kind with him. Takes whatever time is necessary, and explains everything to us. Fees are on the low side. Office is slightly difficult to find, especially at night. Parking is awful but oh well! Highly recommend. Read Less

Been In oceanside for about five years now.  The first two years, we were in and out of vet's all around the area.  Once i got completly settled, one of my two fur babies (cats) got bad.  Oceanside Veterinary Hospital was the only vet to see her as a walk in.  Sure, i knew a walk in was going to be a bit of a wait, but the wait was well worth it.    After a few visits and proper care that was instructed by doctor Gordon, our babies are back to themselvs.  Doctor Gordon took the time to email and call to check on her and was genuinely concerned for her well being.  He did a great job and laid everything out perfectly for me to understand and the possiblities of what could go right and wrong.  Understanding that good and bad things could happen, I tried not to cry!  Doctor Gordon assured me he would do everything in he could to help Sabrina out.Now she's back to her sassy self and we are loving it.  I WILL NOT go anywhere else for care.  The staff and doctors are great there and i would't have it any other way.  Nor will the cats!  Keep up the great work!  And thanks again! Updated 2017: My dog Legend had a cancerous growth on his eye which Dr. Gordon had removed several years ago. My other dog died of spinal cancer. I take meticulous care of my pets, feed them a raw frozen diet, supplements and take them to the vet when they are sick. My pets are part of our family. On December 23, right before all the vets were shutting down before the XMAS holiday, I discovered a red bleeding growth on Legend's paw. I know all about bone cancer and was completely shook up. I found it at night and immediately emailed Dr. Gordon with photos. Knowing Legend's history and my love for him, he got back to us right away and by 8 am the next morning, Legend was in for surgery. The staff was wonderful and very caring. It turned out Legend's tumor was benign (which is a miracle) and Dr. Gordon had emailed us this fantastic news on Christmas day! It's hard to know whether to trust reviews but our family has been a patient of Dr. Gordon's for 12 years and have been to many veterinary hospitals. He is very concerned about making sure clients and their pets receive the best in customer service and veterinary care. If you ever have a concern, you can always just let him know. This is an exemplary practice and we drive 45 minutes to go to this veterinary hospital! 2013: I have been bringing my pets to Dr. David Gordon for many years. I can't say enough great things about him and Oceanside Veterinary Hospital. The most important issue for me with my pets is that I can really trust the advice that is given to me. My dogs are very sensitive and have a lot of health issues. They need a lot of TLC. Dr. Gordon is a WONDERFUL veterinarian---very caring, very smart and tells the facts the way they are. I have gone to a lot of of the veterinarians who weren't nearly as thorough. I will never forget how he contacted us via email at 5:30 in the morning to alert me about how my dog needed to go to emergency after he saw her test results. My husband and I came down as a walk in hoping that a vet clinic will take our 12 week old puppy to see what was going on with her. We adopted two adult cats from the humane society, and this place was on the complimentary vet exam list. I have to say, we'll be keeping them as our vet for any animal we have! I found Dr. Gordon via a google search and was impressed with his background; the office was able to fit me in quickly for a consultation for Theo. He was admitted for a day of IV fluids and acupuncture (his BUN and creatine levels were very high). When I picked him up - he was like a different dog - playful and had a bounce in his step. I could not thank Dr. Gordon enough for helping Theo feel better and now I was impressed based upon our personal experience Dr. Gordon is very knowledgeable about conventional veterinary care as well as holistic care and is able to blend the two together to help me understand and guide me through Theo's health concerns. Ihave been taking my dog, Shep, to Oceanside Veterinary Hospital for over a year-and-a-half. I initially started taking Shep there because I love the idea that Dr. Gordon practices holistic veterinary medicine. A few weeks ago, I took Shep in to get an acupuncture treatment to help alleviate his arthritic pain. Shep showed no signs of discomfort prior to bringing him in. The only thing I noticed was that it seemed his energy level wasn't what it typically was after our walks, so I attributed that to his arthritic pain. Dr. Gordon came in and gave him a check-up before the acupuncture treatment and during the examination, he found that Shep's stomach was distended. He took a couple x-rays and discovered that Shep's stomach had become detached. Dr. Gordon could have easily charged me thousands of dollars to do the much needed surgery that day but instead, told me to take him home for the weekend with clear instructions on what to do and to bring him back on Monday and that he would do the procedure then. The surgery was a huge success and within a week, Shep was back to his old self; within two weeks, the incision had healed almost 100 percent and today, three weeks later, his incision looks amazing, his hair is almost grown back, and he's back to his normal, playful self! I cannot thank Dr. Gordon or his staff enough for not only saving me thousands of dollars but also giving Shep an opportunity to feel like his old self again and give me several more years with him. Dr. Gordon and the entire staff at Oceanside Veterinary Hospital take the time to listen to your concerns and provide different options for treatment; they definitely don't have a "one size fits all" mentality. I've never felt rushed during our appointment even though they are extremely busy. I live about 50 miles away and I won't take Shep any place else. I rushed my 16 week old doxie puppy into them hysterically crying when he got attacked by an unknown dog. The staff was calm and reassuring as they checked him over. Dr. Burnell went over the top on treatment to make sure he was very well taken care of and the manager in the front worked with me for payment. The entire experience was very pleasant and made me feel at ease. They really cared about my puppy and made us feel loved. Thank you so much for dealing with my crazy hormones over my hurt puppy and giving him the best care possible! I truly believe he healed as well as he did because of your amazing staff. Thanks for all of your great care with all of our pets, always!! Long Review (with backstory): We are so happy we found Oceanside Veterinary Hospital! We have received the best care for our pets here. In July of 2015, my dog Oswald (Chihuahua) collapsed while playing in our backyard. He then began to have increasingly labored breathing. The vet office we usually took him to did not seem concerned, and said they were all booked up, and wouldn't be able to see him for a few days. We began to feel desperate as he could barely breathe, and luckily we came across Oceanside Veterinary Hospital. They truly cared greatly here, took the situation very seriously, and got him in immediately. Dr. Hackett ended up saving his life by acting quickly, as his lungs were filling up with fluid. We do not believe he would have survived if we had waited any longer. Unfortunately Oswald was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure, and had to be on medications helping his heart and his breathing. We truly received the best care here. Dr. Hackett was always in communication any time we had any questions or concerns which was very comforting, and she also always made sure we understood everything which really helped in taking care of Oswald. The few times we had to get Oswald in quickly, and Dr. Hackett wasn't in the office, the other doctors (Dr. Burnell and Dr. Gordon) were fantastic and took great care of Oswald. The front desk staff was always so great and helpful. Any time we mentioned Oswald was having trouble breathing or any other problems they took it very seriously and would get him in right away. They were very kind with him, and made him feel welcomed and at ease when we walked through the door, in a place which is typically overwhelming for pets. The vet techs are also so friendly, helpful, and great, and take great care of our pets. All of the staff at Oceanside Veterinary Hospital is lovely, and so kind and caring. Unfortunately Oswald, passed away at the end of December 2015, but thanks to Oceanside Veterinary Hospital our family got five/six extra months with our Oswald. He really was the best dog, and I truly don't believe we would have had that extra time with him if it wasn't for Oceanside Veterinary Hopsital, and we are truly forever grateful to them for that. We have since adopted two more dogs, since our other dog Jack was left devastated by the loss of Oswald. We adopted Chester, who is 13 years old and was given up after his owner passed away, and had severe dental problems. Dr. Hackett and the staff got his mouth all cleaned up and he is feeling great. Our other pet, Todd, we adopted had previously been a stray and had a severe skin infection, lots of hair loss, and a bad allergy. Although it is not an overnight process in getting him back to normal, the change we have seen already is amazing. His terrible infection (his skin was oozing pus, he was always damp and sticky, and had severe flaking of skin) has cleared up, he's no longer itching constantly or flaking skin, and he has already gotten a lot of hair growth. He looks great now. Most of all, his personality has changed! He is so happy, and energetic now. There is no denying how good he feels. Dr. Hackett quickly found the right medicines for him, and he's doing so great now. Overall, we are just so happy with the service we have received here. We cannot say enough good things about Dr. Hackett and the rest of the staff here!! We really feel comforted in bringing our pets here, and trust they will be taken great care of here. After almost 10 very healthy years, our golden retriever developed a host of problems and was on various antibiotics and other meds for a number of months. I decided to search for a holistic veterinarian who would look at the big picture and help find the possible underlying cause to all of his issues. Dr. Gordon's name kept coming up in my searches. After reading a number of very positive reviews, I decided to approach him for an evaluation. He discovered a number of fatty tumors and several with more suspicious-looking cells that had to be surgically removed. Dr. Gordon and staff were genuinely concerned about my dog's welfare and my level of comfort with his surgical procedure. Dr. Gordon communicated with me throughout the day and evening to monitor his condition. I have never experienced this level of care and concern from any of my previous vets or human physicians. As always everyone at Oceanside Vet has been sweet, patient, and just a fabulous pleasure to deal with. After rescheduling a quick tech appointment FOUR times, I finally was able to go and was so proud of myself for being able to get it done..... when I realized I was supposed to go the day before. I called them up and apologized and in addition to being so understanding they got me in that same afternoon. Then when I got there, as my dog was being brought out to me, I remembered something extra I wanted to have done for her so they turned her around and took her right back in.
