I recently adopted 2 stray kittens, and they were pretty young. I figured maybe 3-4 weeks old when I got them, 3 weeks ago. But as it turns out Dr. Travis estimates they are 5 weeks old now. So, they're little adorable babies. I started with formula and bottle feeding, but they need to eat several times a day, so I transitioned them to eating out of a small dish, and I've been adding the mashed up soft food, all is well.Except on Thursday, one of my kittens, Fernando, was acting funny, was not interested in food, was sneezing and had puked a couple of times. Cats puke, my 2 year old cat gets so excited about food sometimes that she overdoes it and pukes it up after she eats...I chalked it up to that. But then sitting and sadly staring at his food, whilst his sister was mowing down on food in the bowl right next to his, and sneezing, I knew something was wrong. I called the vet I have normally gone to, which is right down the street from Pacific Animal, but they're short a Dr. right now and could not see me on the same day, had to make an appt for the next day, but their first available was at 9am when I have to be at work....I didn't want to risk Fernando's life overnight in case something was actually wrong. So I Yelped vets and called here, they took me in 30 minutes from the time I called. I drove my baby kitten over there and he was checked out by Melissa, and then Dr. Travis.***Side Note*** Dr. Travis is a HOTTIE. If I didn't already have a good-looking tattooed boyfriend at home, I'd have asked if Dr. Travis could make a housecall to care for my sick kitten. I'm just sayin'. And he loves kittens. Double Whammy. So Dr. Travis checked Fernando out and come to the conclusion that he may have pneumonia. He recommended a chest X-Ray ($215) which I did, plus the office visit ($58). They're expensive. But I could not just leave...I mean what if this 5 week old kitten I adopted died overnight? I had to know what was wrong with him. And yes, he does have pneumonia. Dr. Travis gave him a shot of something, which he only charged me 25% for since it was just like a drop...then I got one medication from them, had to pick up another from CVS. All in, $400 in medical expenses for Fernando, my FREE stray kitten. I do feel this vet is pricey, but also they were able to see my kitten in what turned out to be an emergency situation, even though I didn't know it was going to be an emergency. Thanks Dr. Travis!
