After a visit with another vet I didn't think was very thorough, I took my rat to Dr. Jyl for her mammary tumor and URI. She not only determined that it probably wasn't a URI (after actually checking my girl out) but spent over an hour with me narrowing down what might be causing the sniffles and what to do about them. Plus, she had great advice about whether or not the tumor should be removed (and how to keep my rat comfortable) while the last vet simply said there was one and offered a quote for removal. Her examination fee was less expensive as well! Yes, the office smells -- like animals, because there are some. I recommended her to my mom and would to anyone else. Read Less

Caring, compassionate and knowledgeable. She has taken care of my beloved Bernese Mountain Dog since he was 2 months old. When he was 2 he was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma....cancer. She not only excised every bit she could at the time , she went above and beyond and cleaned and scrubbed the wound area EVERY day for 2 months as part of his care. Her love for animals is obvious. I find the review about her striking a dog as laughable. She would hit a person long before she would hit a dog ....If you take good care of your pets, feed them a proper diet and have routine check ups rather than just emergency treatment your expenses would be reasonable. I could probably get pet car less expensively, but why take the chance? Bernie loves Dr. Jyl Read Less

I had brought in my rabbit in November 2016 for a pulled nail. He received treatment and it healed up with just a scab that needed to fall off on it's own. Was told I wasn't to get my rabbit back because an Adult Protective Services guy said I was to not get the rabbit back. Surrendered him thinking treatment was going to be $6000+. Did get the rabbit back and paid less than what I was told it would be. Come January my rabbit chewed at his foot. The same foot with the pulled nail. I was questioned like it was my fault he chewed at his foot. I only did what I was told and that was to put a sock on his foot so he wouldn't chew at it. I asked if his leg could be amputated and for a printout of the estimate. I never received any printouts of estimates and my request for amputation was refused. I was told they'll be doing treatment instead and it could be $10,000. When I would call, or receive calls, I was never given the specific amount of what would be owed on my part. Amount was always rounded up. Instead, I would be reminded of how I have to give pets up because can't afford them and because Adult Protective Services required me to. Spoke to me like I was stupid. Claimed I didn't call in a few months one time they called. The only one who gave me exact amounts was the guy receptionist. The only document I ever received was a surrender form. After I surrendered my rabbit for the 2nd and final time is when I was pressured into paying the vet bill. Now I'm being sued. My advice to anyone who is in the same predicament as myself, lack of funds and dealing with agencies, don't go to this vet and tell the woman receptionist/vet tech or the vet about your financial hardships. You'll be reminded of them constantly and spoken to as though you're stupid. Also, insist on getting printouts of estimates. There are a couple of good people who work at the vet. I just hope that whoever adopted my Bugsy loves him as much as I do and knows he was my little rock for the almost 2 years I had him. Read Less

I was in need of a vet for my chicken. I googled and Dr. Jyl was the first to pop up for area chicken vets. I had an urgent situation that I was very upset about. I called and spoke to someone on the phone looking for advice or to be seen. The woman was incredibly rude and very dismissive of my feelings and situation. She said she couldn't see my chicken for 5 days (a holiday weekend) and had no interest in offering support or advise over the phone. I ended up calling the bird clinic in Roseville and they were BEYOND amazing in both my initial phone call + fitting my chicken in for a same day apt! I took my Border Collie, Buddy, to Dr. Jyl 3 years ago. He had constant and reoccurring ear infections. I went to a conventional vet for treatment. Antibiotics, ear wash and drops. The ear infection would return again in about 6 months. This repeated over and over. This went on for 2 years. I did not want to keep repeating the same thing over again. I heard about Dr. Jyl and wanted a holistic vet. She packed his ear with medicine and herbs. It was to be left in for 2 weeks. Whatever she put in his ear cleared up the infection and got to the root cause. It has been 3 years with no return of ear infection. She charged more than the conventional vet, but I only had to go once and the problem was fixed. It was well worth the extra money. So sad that people have left bad comments, she sure helped my dog and genuinely cares. Read Less

It has been 3 months since we first contacted Dr. Jyl's Mobile Vet Connection looking for chiropractic care for our small dog, Jack.  Jack had been having back and front leg pain for 3-4 months.  We'd had to take him in to emergency vets twice in the middle of the night for morphine injections.  Though we had xrays and tests done, no one could figure out what was wrong.  Dr. Jyl performed weekly chiropractic adjustments, 10 weeks of Adequan injections and put Jack on a grain free diet.  Gradually Jack improved, and now he is an active, pain-free dog.  He got his youthful spunk back!  We are SO pleased!!  We were also very happy with the kind and helpful staff who kept in touch and made sure Jack was doing well.  I would highly recommend Dr. Jyl's Vet Connection. Wow... I can't believe some of these haters on their one star reviews. There is no way that Dr. Jyl is even remotely those things the haters said. I've been taking my pets to Dr. Jyl since 2004. At that time I had recently moved in with my boyfriend who had 2 dogs (2 & 14 year old) and I had one cat (10 yrs old) from the Bay Area. We rescued a 3rd dog that summer from a neighbor (who just couldn't handle him). Since I needed a Vet I asked them who they used. They referred me to Dr. Jyl. Now you have to understand, my cat was very special to me. I am epileptic and my cat had the ability to warn me within seconds of me having a seizure. Needless to say I took my bestfriend to the best of the best Vets - from L.A. to San Francisco when she had medical issues. Not only did my cat live a healthy 20 years, but Dr. Jyl had saved her life twice. Her & her staff went the extra mile to research and correctly diagnose a very rare condition that is basically unheard of in the US. I refer everyone to her, because she believes in & practices Western/Eastern philosophy of medicine, which is not Gypsy Oil (as a hater stated). She is a well rounded, diverse, highly intelligent, educated knowledgeable Veterinarian. Who is always bettering herself, by expanding (going outside the box) her approach to veterinary medicine, As far as her not caring... that is so far from the truth. Point in case: I had an appointment with her around 4pm. When I arrived the staff informed me that Dr. Jyl is running behind due to complications she had in surgery w/another pet. I said thats okay I'll wait, because if it were my animal in there, I would want her to give them her full attention. Anyway, come to find out, it was a dog giving birth to 10 puppies or so she thought (x-rays showed 10), but there were 3 more and the dog was too tired to deliver and complications sat in. Long story short, those 3 puppies came out stillborns. I witnessed Dr. Jyl & her staff for 20 min. giving nonstop CPR to these little guys in hope to see them breathe. It was amazing. Two began to breathe on their own, but sadly to say, one did not make it. They tried for another 20 min to get it to breathe, but it never did. Dr. Jyl and her staff care about each and every animal as if it where their own. She was so saddened that she couldn't save the 13 puppy. Haters will always be haters. If it wasn't the Vet, it would of been the bagger at the grocery store or the teller at the bank. I recommend Dr. Jyl to everyone. She is an excellent Vet. who actually gets it! .Read Less

Took my dog to Dr. Jyl to have anethesia free teeth cleaning. My dogs teeth were in desparate need of being cleaned, she had gingivitis, bad breath and lots of tartar. My dog doesnt like to chew bones or toys that would help clean her teeth and although I brush her teeth, couldnt get them clean enough. My dog is not friendly with other dogs. She has always been nervous at the vet and so i was concerned she might need a sedative to get through the teeth cleaning. i called when i was out front of the office. The staff made sure all dogs were out of sight, i brought my dog in, she trembled for a few minutes while we got her weight and then she settled down. Her teeth were cleaned by the expert technician, no sedatives needed. My dog was returned to me calmer than I handed her off to the technician. Her teeth were gleaming white! She looked like she had gone to my dentist, had her teeth cleaned and whitened! A fabulous job! One of the techs also talked to me about healthy food and why dry food only is not a good option. We added a small amount of wet food back into her diet and a teaspoon of coconut oil once a day. My dog no longer rolls and scratches her back everytime we go to the park! We solved two problems for the price of one. Great people, friendly and definitely care about you and your pet! Highly recommend the Mobile Vet Connection. Read Less

This review site and many others like it point out why I don't like these. They offer one side of the story and some of the people who post here are crackpots who wouldn't be happy with ANY vet. They neglect their animals for years and feed them the cheapest food they can find, then blame the vet when the animal dies. There is no opportunity for the person being reviewed to respond to the comments and certainly no details are provided by the person doing the review. Blaming a vet for your animal dying is like blaming the mechanic for your car breaking down. Dr. Jyl is a great vet, she offers options that most others don't and has many satisfied happy customers whose animals are alive and walking around today because of her work. It's unfortunate we don't hear from more of those people on the review sites. Don't be misled by the bitter customers who expected miracles after neglecting their animals for years. They will always look for someone else to blame. I had been to other vets with my dogs before coming to Mobile Vet Connection. None of them spent the amount of time with me that Dr. Jyl does. That's not to say they were wrong but she really digs in to the problem and looks for the root of the problem instead of just treating the symptoms. If you want cookbook medicine and and the cheapest prices go to the vet at your local chain pet store, you'll get what you pay for.Read Less

I'd like to reply to the ""Snake Oil"" review. I have been a client of this vet for years and while she does sometimes get behind schedule it's because she sometimes ends up spending more time with other clients than is allotted. She never short changes anyone on time and if more time is needed with a client she spends it, I know because I've been on the receiving end of that and I know it made her late for others that had appointments. Still I appreciated the extra time she spent with me. As for the snake oil claims, she only recommends things for a dog if she thinks they are necessary. Just because you only brought the dog in for vaccines doesn't mean there weren't other issues. You're not the vet she is. She went to school to be the expert and you have to either trust that judgment or not, you obviously don't. Then you should go elsewhere. Personally she's healed my animals when others couldn't and I've seen her do the same with other animals. She doesn't just prescribe pills but has many other forms of treatment and I appreciate the natural forms she sometimes recommends. If I can make my dog better without more drugs I'm all for it. I HIGHLY recommend this vet but please be understanding that it's a different kind of place and you need to be patient. Read Less

Read Less

Read Less
