I requested a refill two months ago for my dogs arthritis condition, but I was denied because they required an annual health visit. As of writing this, it is May. I got his first exam done in August of 2017. Last I checked, a year is still 12 months, is it not? Good try, but really, if they wanted to show they really cared for my dog's health, maybe they should've got themselves organized first and understand how to count besides attempt to squeeze in an unecessary exam for extra cash. This hospital needs to work a little harder with their clients, especially if the client has to call every month to ask what went wrong on the hospitals end. It really shouldn't be rocket science... I have been coming to adobe for years. Recently felt like I was lied to by staff and doctor after declining extensive blood work for my dog when I was simply going in for a fecal sample & worm & parasite check. After the decline at that time they offered me a in house treatment for a fraction of the price. ( I don't like to make accusations But I do not think they even ran the test ) they call me first thing in the morning saying it came back negative funny thing is I was the very last patient in the office and staff and doctor was leaving and locking up as I was. To make a Long Story short I would definetly come to this place with caution. I HAVE REFERRED MANY PEOPLE TO THIS PLACE AND WILL LET EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM KNOW ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE. Read Less

Initially Dr. O'Neil took very good of our pet. However, as time went on she began to be overly preoccupied with controlling where the prescribed medications were purchased, which suggested that her interest in her bottom-line was more important than providing affordable quality petcare. When I explained that her prices for her medications were not competitive she became very defensive and resisted providing a written prescription so I could obtain the prescribed medications elsewhere. The office also blocked my on-line purchase of the medications she prescribed. This attitude and lack of service combined with the rudeness of the front office staff lead me to take our pet to another local vet. Read Less

The Fact that there is an affordable shot clinic on Saturdays and fair priced spay and neuter is AWSOME!!!But that is about it.The veterinarian seems took look down her nose if you can not afford the flea medication that they push there.Or if you have not yet spayed or neutered your pet.I believe that there is always a way to speak to and educate someone about the benefits and real need to spay and neuter without being rude or condescending.It makes it hard to want to go back when the vet can not or maybe simply does not want to take the time to be nice.But yet she has the time to judge and grimis.Also the front desk staff that assisted me and my fur baby were rude.I can not say that I felt treated as an individual person or case because as soon as the vet hears an answer she doesn't agree with you can tell that she places you into a category that she doesn't want to waste her time on. Not so great experiences here. We had one dog that was very sick and they were able to get him an appointment quickly. After extensive testing, including X-rays ($250) we were referred to another clinic where more experienced vets could review the X-rays. Unfortunately, the X-rays were of poor quality and had to be redone at the other clinic. Almost every visit here, we have had to wait a long time in spite of having an appointment. No consideration is extended when our time is wasted. However, when they feel their time has been wasted, they will charge you. For one of our other dogs, we forgot a follow up appointment. They sent a bill in the mail for $48 for the missed appointment. No warning. No previous statement of a missed appointment policy. This after spending well over $1,000 on our dogs there. That was it for me. They got their $48, but they will never get another dime from us. Read Less

If I could give them 0 starts I would I called like at 10am to see if I could schedule an appointment for my 9 month old puppy that has not been feeling good for the past few day when I call the young man that I spoke to was really nice and asked me some of the symptoms of my dog he told me that I could go in that day at 2pm I was glad that they schedule me in that day. I got to the clinic a little bit earlier just in case I had to fill out paperwork and when I got there I was not greeted  I had to catch someone attention and when I told her I had an appointment the girl looked at me in such a rude way and asked for my dogs name I let her know and she asked me if I had the records of my puppies vaccinations ? Hello how am I suppose to know you need them no told me to bring them so I told her nicely that I don't I told her that he had his puppy shots and his rabies shot and she said we're gonna have to investigate then . While she was "investigating" which clearing she wasn't she was just standing there gossiping to her coworker in front of my face I placed my dog on the floor to get something out of my bag and she literally yell across the room at me and told me I couldn't put my dog on the floor ! And when I thought things couldn't get worse the doctor that was suppose to look at my baby passed by the lady that was helping me told her my dogs symptoms she clearly said I can't do anything if we don't know which vaccines he has then they told me that I had to step out of the building and go to my car and wait because my dog could be contagious once she told me that I just told them to cancel the appointment! What the heck !! I will no longer be returning here I should of just went where I usually take all my dogs they clearly don't care about the well being of your animals I understand it's Monday or you might be having a rough day but that is no way to treat someone or a pet . We went to Adobe after our pup was hit by a car. He was facing a huge surgery ($$$) and we were uncertain what to do next.The staff at Adobe guided us through the process. Every single person at Adobe bent over backwards to help us and our pup through this hard time.Beyond giving wonderful care they also have connections with a board certified surgeon - Dr. Henry. Dr. Henry is kind and knowledgable. He completed the surgeries with expertise and was available to us 24/7. He even came in on a weekend (for a free check up) when I was worried about some post-surgery swelling (everything was fine). During the surgery the Adobe front desk kept in constant contact with us and even opened up after hours so we could pick up our pup. Basically - we love this place and are so grateful to the staff. I had an emergency with my cat, I walked into this vet with no appointment, had never been to this vet before! They took my cat immediately and were fabulous!! I can not tell you how wonderful this entire staff was!! My mom also has a cat which she has been taking to Banfield for years, her cat will now be going to Adobe Pet Hospital from this point forward. If you really love your pet like family, this IS the vet you need to take them to, they are the ABSOLUTE BEST you could possibly ask for in animal care!!!! I like Dr O'Neill but the front staff/Receptionist can be rude and incompetent!  I've been going to Adobe since I adopted my 1st dog from the Shelter 6 yrs ago and now have 4 fur babies.  I noticed they can be rude but discounted it since I really like Dr O'Neill.  After 6 years enduring the rudeness from time to time, I can no longer tolerate it!  CUSTOMER SERVICE/First Impression in any business is imperative.   And, it is pretty much a deal breaker for me.  My last straw was 1) I called in the morning and inquired out the cost to refill the medication my dogs had been taking.  Received a price and was told they would call me back once it was ready.  Waited and waited for a call.  I called and the office was closed for the rest of the day.  Never was I told they close early on Tuesdays.  Left a message.  2) Finally got a call back.  They did NOT apologize for not communicating with that they close early on Tuesdays.  AND, instead of paying the quoted amount for the refill I was charged more as the prices went up!!  I've worked long enough in retail/customer service to know that if quoted a price they should honor that price.  Instead they make excuses that their cost went up!  Apparently, they don't regard customers important enough than charging them more!  I'm taking my business else wear!!  Thank you Dr O'Neill for the years of taking care of my doggies. Dr. Oniel and her staff are the absolute BEST !!! They do not charge the ridiculous prices that most other places charge, AND they actually make a difference; healing and helping not only the animals, but are caring to the owners. This clinic really cares about the community and helping owners afford care when it is needed. If someone had a bad experience, those people might have had a bad day and under the stress of an animal in distress. I have been seeing Dr. O'Neil with my cats for years. The staff treat me like family. The prices are very fair. She has advanced education in dental work, and other specialties, which most veterinarians do not. And...I have learned, she can pretty much figure out anything or heal any issue. My first experience with her was bringing in a cat that had been given a death sentence by another vet, and Lori kept him alive and healthy for another four years. The service is pretty quick, but bear in mind that Adobe is also an emergency clinic, and on rare occasions an emergency might take precedence. I also recommend this emergency clinic as a huge money-saving option from going to Ventura, and you get the same doctor with the same experience. I use Adobe for boarding when I vacation. I seriously love this place. I am a librarian, I do my research, I've been to a lot of vets, and I can tell you, Adobe Animal and Dr. Lori O'Neil are far superior to any other clinic I have ever visited. Take my word for it, this place is awesome. There are negative reviews of this clinic from people who do things like continually blow off their appointments, or flip out because they have to pay a small boarding fee for an overnight stay, but consider the source. This is the best vet in Ventura county. I adopted a dog and immediately had a lot of problems with his health. After a long and hard fight, Adobe and the caring staff were with me and my best friend to the end. About two weeks after I had to say goodbye to my friend I get a letter in the mail from them. I thought it was just a normal reminder card but it wasn't. It was a card with a tuft of Harley's hair, his paw print and the entire staff took the time to write their condolences in the card. These people are truly saints. Their medical expertise along with truly caring for patients and their owners is what makes his place the best in Ventura county. Read Less

I came here from 2 different happy referrals and have literally ran into other friends bring their pets here, so far they are happy customers. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same. I come from the Banfield experience, and was looking for a better environment/care for my 8 yr old chocolate lab (Chula), so I was really excited to bring her here. The 1st visit was ok in terms of being greeted and getting my dog into a room. The vet tech (a nice young man) was incredible friendly with myself and the dog, so I thought this is going to be great. Unfortunately, the doctor walked in, without introducing herself, asked 'whats wrong with your dog' attitude, took my dog back for some exams. I patiently waited for the results, I was given a quote for $200 and some change, then the nice vet tech who was working with me, told me the dog was ready but their was some concerns and now the bill was about $500. Again, I have not spoken with the doctor after the results. So I was told to wait again for the doctor to come out and explain what was going on. I waited close to 30 minutes. I believe at this point I Was starting to get frustrated with her and the front desk staff's service skills. I then requested the doctor, she said maybe a full sentence to me about what meds would be required. I paid the bill. No explanation of what the meds were for, how often, and when I should expect to bring Chula back. This was visit #1. I left with a bad taste in my mouth. After the meds were all done (there was signs of getting better) Chula was still sick, so I attempted to see the vet again. Again, customer service is not awesome, but maybe thats just my luck who knows. Im a pretty patient person (by default, I am patient since I own a chocolate lab, right?!).  I checked Chula in and there was confusion amongst staff if I was dropping her off or sticking around (I was told it was a drop off)- so I leave to work and get a call 5 minutes later she is ready for pick up. I come back.....wait again. Chula comes out. I pay for my urine analysis and ask for a break down of my ($72) bill, which was kindly explained. The woman kindly tells me the doctor will call me once results are in...meanwhile from the next room over, the doctor semi peeps out to tell the girl (who then tells me) that my dog still has an issue. I then ask to speak with the doctor (because again this is visit #2), the nice lady can tell I am a bit frustrated, she goes to get the doctor for me, and tells me she cant see me and ill need to reschedule a visit. By many standards, I never send food back, I am polite with not polite folks...but this is my family member, and I could not tolerate that I was spending time and money at her business but she didnt make any time for me (or my dog I suppose). If I wasnt happy, in all likelihood my dog wasnt happy. I explained quietly to the lady that I Was disappointed that the doctor could not meet me or professionally introduce herself. Did I mention after she rang me up for services rendered she ( the kind office lady) told me there was a prescription Chula needed. If youre not going to talk to me atleast be organized. I have left to another vet and got a phone call from the doctor personally when Chula was ready for pick up and spent time with me explaining what was wrong with my dog and what steps were next. I have never written a long YELP review, but I guess since Im not a picky eater / or bad business experiences I dont have much to say, but when it comes to services rendered to my family- I have a bone to pick. Clearly some folks are happy here and that makes me happy knowing that(for both owner and pet), but for myself and Chula we will not be returning. *for the record the doctor did have her staff call to apologize to me and requested I set up time to speak with her. (I believe that what my 2 visits were for- these visits all took place between sept and october). Read Less

I used to take my pets to Adobe, until now, I called today to schedule an appt for my 15 yr old pit bull who was diagnosed with cancer about 2 yrs ago. He's not doing too great so I wanted to have the Dr. Examine him and tell me if its time to put him down cause I don't want him to suffer anymore than what he already is, well that didn't seem to matter to much to them, in fact, they were more concerned about a past balance they say I have which I was completely unaware of, when I asked why I had this balance of $180.00, they stated that the balance was due to a couple of missed appointments, one in 2014 and one in 2010, and that I would have to first pay this balance before my dog is seen , I still did not understand why so much for 2 missed appointments, they then stated that the fee adds up every month starting from the month that I missed my appointment. If you don't call to cancel, not only do they charge you a one time fee for missing your appt, they continuously charge you every month after that until you remember to call and specifically say that your cancelling your appt. I think that is completely ridiculous and crazy, and that is exactly what I told them before hanging up. I will never deal with them again, they were very cold hearted and very inconsiderate towards the feelings of the customer....and I DO NOT INTEND NOR WILL I PAY for that outrageous phony balance they say I have, that staff can "KISS MY A%# !!! This is the worst place ever to take your animal. Extremely long waits and terrible customer service.  I took my two dogs in as I was preparing to deploy. Wanted to make sure they were up to date with shots and so forth.  I was concerned about my older dog having a lot of wax in his ears and the doc recommended doing a flush of his ears. This dog is 10 yrs old and has never had any issues with his ears. Immediately the next day he was in pain. I called, they told me to give benedryl. The following day he was still in pain. I  called and they asked me to bring him in.  He had a severe ear infection and put silicon antibiotics. It's been 8 days and my dog cannot hear a thing. The doctor offered that she did not have any answers for me and basically said she had a deaf dog at home and he gets along just fine.  My point is my dog was not deaf when he got a cleaning and infection as a result of the cleaning.  I  will never return to this vet..I don't trust them at all,  a vet tech cleaned my dogs ears and I'm not sure how much training he had.  They deserve zero stars, unfortunately I was forced to select at least one. I highly recommend Dr. Mushkott, who has cared for my cat and my daughter's dog. Dr. Mushkott grasps the big picture and is an excellent communicator. He does not try to sell clients things their pets don't need. For example, my cat was very old and her health had been very poor for 2 years prior to coming to Dr. Mushkott. I tried two other vets before I came to him. By this time, I had spent perhaps a couple of thousand dollars on my cat, vets did not have any suggestions for how to make her better, given her age, but kept advising expensive tests that had already been done. According to the vets, these tests had shown nothing helpful, and even if they had, would not have led to anything that would have improved my cat's health. With his years of experience, Dr. Mushkott could explain from tests what was going on. It was easy to have the difficult conversation with him about options and how to know when it was time to put the cat down.  With Dr. Mushkott,  we used medication to treat the condition, but otherwise, just kept her comfortable with fluids until it was her time to go. Her demeanor actually improved quite a bit and she was able to enjoy life for quite a while before it was time to put her down. Read Less

Horrible experience ..my dog went in for a skin rash on her back my dog is a small chi and my dog never snapped at the tech but since I said sometimes she does cause she is scared made tge doctor insists to put a muzzle on her a plastic head gear and had a tech plus I hold her down like she was a pitbull my poor baby was so scared she was foaming at the mouth and was breathing very heavy I really thought my dog was going to have a heart attack ..the doctor would not see her unless all this was done ..over a small rash... she told us she doesn't get paid enough to get bit by a dog ..and also told me my dog needed therapy for being so scared and gave me a card of prob a friend of hers to call to set up therapy sessions to teach my dog proper behavior ..I'm sorry but if your mouth was tied up with a head gear and had two people holding you down just to look at a rash I'm sure no one would be calm ..my poor chi was traumatized there and will never take her there again Read Less

We had a decent enough experience with this hospital until we decided to get our dog neutered here. We were not given an approximate time to pick the dog up, and were under the impression that he would be staying overnight. Later that day, I received a call from Adobe, but I was unable to answer the phone. I was called again later in the day, and when I answered I was told I needed to come pick my dog up, right that second. I told them it would be a little while before I would be able to pick him up, at which time I was informed that the clinic was closed and if I couldn't pick him up right then, that he would have to be boarded. I asked how much this would cost me, and was prepared to be angry because I wasn't given any warning about this (not given any warning about what time I would need to pick him up, and not given any warning that I would have to pay for boarding if I didn't pick him up at that time, not to mention they called me, but they did not leave a message, and they did not attempt to call my husband's phone which they should also have in their records as our entire account with them is under his name). I was then told not to worry about it, and that I would not be charged. They asked me to come pick him up before 10 the next morning and I agreed. Upon arriving the next day however, they did charge me for boarding. When I said that I was told there wouldn't be a charge, I was told "I never would have said that. I told you we MIGHT not charge you." The lady then proceeded to argue with me and my husband, basically calling me a clueless liar who didn't remember the phone call we had just had the day before. She was extremely rude, and cared more about winning the argument than keeping a customer. Because we didn't have any interest in appeasing her desire to be right at all costs, we paid the petty boarding cost and will never ever go back. Apparently, at this hospital, a 20$ boarding fee and winning an argument is more important than keeping a customer who has 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a steady paycheck to keep paying for their continued health. Go here only if you're prepared to be treated like crap. Also, if my dog's ravenous hunger upon arriving home is any indication, I would guess my dog wasn't fed at all the entire time he was there. I needed a vet for my cat and this vet met me at the office at midnight! My cat was very sick and needed euthanasia so she wouldn't suffer. The vet was caring and compassionate.I took my dog in to see this vet, and again found her very caring and compassionate. The staff were great, the fees were very reasonable and my dog received great care! How many vets will come in and see your cat or dog after office hours without charging the typical emergency fees? This one will! And she cares about the animals! Read Less

Our dog had enlarging tumors, one of which started bleeding one day from her chewing on it. Our regular vet couldn't get us in, and recommended that we try Adobe. We ended up having them remove two large tumors from her side. She's an old dog, and during the first surgery, she had a dangerous drop in her blood pressure. The vet kept us updated, had to stop the surgery before the second tumor was removed, and stayed with her until she stabilized, keeping her overnight. We took her back a couple weeks later to remove the other tumor, and they gave us a great discount because of having to do the surgery over two visits (and actually removed a third tumor, did her teeth, clipped her nails, and expressed her anal glands). I didn't get to make it to any of her appts (my husband took her), but I have been very impressed with the great care, very thorough notes and discharge instructions. Previously going to Banfield, I am used to the cookie cutter documentation and instructions. As a physician myself, I really appreciate the extra time Dr. Russi took to type out information about her surgery and condition, and specific instructions so that our dog could have the best chance of a quick recovery.A very satisfied doggie mama! Today, my daughter went to Adobe to pick up her dog's Trixfexis. Upon her arrival, at 12:45pm, the front doors were locked. An "hours of operation" sign, states closing time is 1:00pm. She called the office and was told they closed early! Since there was no sign on the door, saying Adobe closed before the posted 1:00pm closing time, the office staff should have been gracious enough to open the doors and sell the Trixfexis. Read Less

Wonderful, caring people! I got to know them well because my cat, Onyx, had a number of health problems and every single person there took great care of her. When I boarded her there I was able to leave town with no worries. They went above and beyond in care and thoughtfulness of both her and me. When she was hospitalized they did eveything they could to make her comfortable. I also had to bring her in twice a week for sub-cutaneous fluids and she was not very cooperative but they were very good sports about it. They were patient with my questions and answered after-hours calls promptly. I eventually had to put her to sleep but they were very sensitive to both her and me. Everyone there, from Dr. O'Neil and Dr. Lucie to everyone on the staff, is a quality, caring person! Read Less

Our sweet old JRT required emergency care followed by a long surgery with Dr. O'Neil.Dr. Russi and Vet Tech Irene met us at the hospital at 9pm on a Sunday!We received the best care! After worrying for a while in regards to our Husky Female being in labor and was not progressing normally we got extremely worried. We tried calling other 24/7 Vet Clinics/Hospitals and they were just too far to drive to take a look at our Husky. So we ended up calling Adobe Animal Hospital of off Oxnard, CA close to 5 points reference from a great experience we had on our previous Dog. After calling them explaining our situation they were very friendly on the phone and in person. Not only that they have a 24/7 emergency care I would definitely recommend this fantastic environment including their fantastic friendly staff  to all who are need of there pets needs. I requested a refill two months ago for my dogs arthritis condition, but I was denied because they required an annual health visit. As of writing this, it is May. I got his first exam done in August of 2017. Last I checked, a year is still 12 months, is it not? Good try, but really, if they wanted to show they really cared for my dog's health, maybe they should've got themselves organized first and understand how to count besides attempt to squeeze in an unecessary exam for extra cash. This hospital needs to work a little harder with their clients, especially if the client has to call every month to ask what went wrong on the hospitals end. It really shouldn't be rocket science... I have been coming to adobe for years. Recently felt like I was lied to by staff and doctor after declining extensive blood work for my dog when I was simply going in for a fecal sample & worm & parasite check. After the decline at that time they offered me a in house treatment for a fraction of the price. ( I don't like to make accusations But I do not think they even ran the test ) they call me first thing in the morning saying it came back negative funny thing is I was the very last patient in the office and staff and doctor was leaving and locking up as I was. To make a Long Story short I would definetly come to this place with caution. I HAVE REFERRED MANY PEOPLE TO THIS PLACE AND WILL LET EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM KNOW ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE. Read Less

However, as time went on she began to be overly preoccupied with controlling where the prescribed medications were purchased, which suggested that her interest in her bottom-line was more important than providing affordable quality petcare. When I explained that her prices for her medications were not competitive she became very defensive and resisted providing a written prescription so I could obtain the prescribed medications elsewhere. The office also blocked my on-line purchase of the medications she prescribed. This attitude and lack of service combined with the rudeness of the front office staff lead me to take our pet to another local vet. Read Less

The Fact that there is an affordable shot clinic on Saturdays and fair priced spay and neuter is AWSOME!!!But that is about it.The veterinarian seems took look down her nose if you can not afford the flea medication that they push there.Or if you have not yet spayed or neutered your pet.I believe that there is always a way to speak to and educate someone about the benefits and real need to spay and neuter without being rude or condescending.It makes it hard to want to go back when the vet can not or maybe simply does not want to take the time to be nice.But yet she has the time to judge and grimis.Also the front desk staff that assisted me and my fur baby were rude.I can not say that I felt treated as an individual person or case because as soon as the vet hears an answer she doesn't agree with you can tell that she places you into a category that she doesn't want to waste her time on. Not so great experiences here. We had one dog that was very sick and they were able to get him an appointment quickly. After extensive testing, including X-rays ($250) we were referred to another clinic where more experienced vets could review the X-rays. Unfortunately, the X-rays were of poor quality and had to be redone at the other clinic. Almost every visit here, we have had to wait a long time in spite of having an appointment. No consideration is extended when our time is wasted. However, when they feel their time has been wasted, they will charge you. For one of our other dogs, we forgot a follow up appointment. They sent a bill in the mail for $48 for the missed appointment. No warning. No previous statement of a missed appointment policy. This after spending well over $1,000 on our dogs there. That was it for me. They got their $48, but they will never get another dime from us. Read Less

If I could give them 0 starts I would I called like at 10am to see if I could schedule an appointment for my 9 month old puppy that has not been feeling good for the past few day when I call the young man that I spoke to was really nice and asked me some of the symptoms of my dog he told me that I could go in that day at 2pm I was glad that they schedule me in that day. I got to the clinic a little bit earlier just in case I had to fill out paperwork and when I got there I was not greeted  I had to catch someone attention and when I told her I had an appointment the girl looked at me in such a rude way and asked for my dogs name I let her know and she asked me if I had the records of my puppies vaccinations ? Hello how am I suppose to know you need them no told me to bring them so I told her nicely that I don't I told her that he had his puppy shots and his rabies shot and she said we're gonna have to investigate then . While she was "investigating" which clearing she wasn't she was just standing there gossiping to her coworker in front of my face I placed my dog on the floor to get something out of my bag and she literally yell across the room at me and told me I couldn't put my dog on the floor ! And when I thought things couldn't get worse the doctor that was suppose to look at my baby passed by the lady that was helping me told her my dogs symptoms she clearly said I can't do anything if we don't know which vaccines he has then they told me that I had to step out of the building and go to my car and wait because my dog could be contagious once she told me that I just told them to cancel the appointment! What the heck !! I will no longer be returning here I should of just went where I usually take all my dogs they clearly don't care about the well being of your animals I understand it's Monday or you might be having a rough day but that is no way to treat someone or a pet . We went to Adobe after our pup was hit by a car. He was facing a huge surgery ($$$) and we were uncertain what to do next.The staff at Adobe guided us through the process. Every single person at Adobe bent over backwards to help us and our pup through this hard time.Beyond giving wonderful care they also have connections with a board certified surgeon - Dr. Henry. Dr. Henry is kind and knowledgable. He completed the surgeries with expertise and was available to us 24/7. He even came in on a weekend (for a free check up) when I was worried about some post-surgery swelling (everything was fine). During the surgery the Adobe front desk kept in constant contact with us and even opened up after hours so we could pick up our pup. Basically - we love this place and are so grateful to the staff. My mom also has a cat which she has been taking to Banfield for years, her cat will now be going to Adobe Pet Hospital from this point forward. I like Dr O'Neill but the front staff/Receptionist can be rude and incompetent!  I've been going to Adobe since I adopted my 1st dog from the Shelter 6 yrs ago and now have 4 fur babies.  I noticed they can be rude but discounted it since I really like Dr O'Neill.  After 6 years enduring the rudeness from time to time, I can no longer tolerate it!  CUSTOMER SERVICE/First Impression in any business is imperative.   And, it is pretty much a deal breaker for me.  My last straw was 1) I called in the morning and inquired out the cost to refill the medication my dogs had been taking.  Received a price and was told they would call me back once it was ready.  Waited and waited for a call.  I called and the office was closed for the rest of the day.  Never was I told they close early on Tuesdays.  Left a message.  2) Finally got a call back.  They did NOT apologize for not communicating with that they close early on Tuesdays.  AND, instead of paying the quoted amount for the refill I was charged more as the prices went up!!  I've worked long enough in retail/customer service to know that if quoted a price they should honor that price.  Instead they make excuses that their cost went up!  Apparently, they don't regard customers important enough than charging them more!  I'm taking my business else wear!!  Thank you Dr O'Neill for the years of taking care of my doggies. Dr. Oniel and her staff are the absolute BEST !!! They do not charge the ridiculous prices that most other places charge, AND they actually make a difference; healing and helping not only the animals, but are caring to the owners. This clinic really cares about the community and helping owners afford care when it is needed. If someone had a bad experience, those people might have had a bad day and under the stress of an animal in distress. I have been seeing Dr. O'Neil with my cats for years. The staff treat me like family. The prices are very fair. She has advanced education in dental work, and other specialties, which most veterinarians do not. And...I have learned, she can pretty much figure out anything or heal any issue. My first experience with her was bringing in a cat that had been given a death sentence by another vet, and Lori kept him alive and healthy for another four years. The service is pretty quick, but bear in mind that Adobe is also an emergency clinic, and on rare occasions an emergency might take precedence. I also recommend this emergency clinic as a huge money-saving option from going to Ventura, and you get the same doctor with the same experience. I use Adobe for boarding when I vacation. I seriously love this place. I am a librarian, I do my research, I've been to a lot of vets, and I can tell you, Adobe Animal and Dr. Lori O'Neil are far superior to any other clinic I have ever visited. Take my word for it, this place is awesome. There are negative reviews of this clinic from people who do things like continually blow off their appointments, or flip out because they have to pay a small boarding fee for an overnight stay, but consider the source. This is the best vet in Ventura county. I adopted a dog and immediately had a lot of problems with his health. After a long and hard fight, Adobe and the caring staff were with me and my best friend to the end. About two weeks after I had to say goodbye to my friend I get a letter in the mail from them. I thought it was just a normal reminder card but it wasn't. It was a card with a tuft of Harley's hair, his paw print and the entire staff took the time to write their condolences in the card. These people are truly saints. Their medical expertise along with truly caring for patients and their owners is what makes his place the best in Ventura county. Read Less

I came here from 2 different happy referrals and have literally ran into other friends bring their pets here, so far they are happy customers. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same. I come from the Banfield experience, and was looking for a better environment/care for my 8 yr old chocolate lab (Chula), so I was really excited to bring her here. The 1st visit was ok in terms of being greeted and getting my dog into a room. The vet tech (a nice young man) was incredible friendly with myself and the dog, so I thought this is going to be great. Unfortunately, the doctor walked in, without introducing herself, asked 'whats wrong with your dog' attitude, took my dog back for some exams. I patiently waited for the results, I was given a quote for $200 and some change, then the nice vet tech who was working with me, told me the dog was ready but their was some concerns and now the bill was about $500. Again, I have not spoken with the doctor after the results. So I was told to wait again for the doctor to come out and explain what was going on. I waited close to 30 minutes. I believe at this point I Was starting to get frustrated with her and the front desk staff's service skills. I then requested the doctor, she said maybe a full sentence to me about what meds would be required. I paid the bill. No explanation of what the meds were for, how often, and when I should expect to bring Chula back. This was visit #1. I left with a bad taste in my mouth. After the meds were all done (there was signs of getting better) Chula was still sick, so I attempted to see the vet again. Again, customer service is not awesome, but maybe thats just my luck who knows. Im a pretty patient person (by default, I am patient since I own a chocolate lab, right?!).  I checked Chula in and there was confusion amongst staff if I was dropping her off or sticking around (I was told it was a drop off)- so I leave to work and get a call 5 minutes later she is ready for pick up. I come back.....wait again. Chula comes out. I pay for my urine analysis and ask for a break down of my ($72) bill, which was kindly explained. The woman kindly tells me the doctor will call me once results are in...meanwhile from the next room over, the doctor semi peeps out to tell the girl (who then tells me) that my dog still has an issue. I then ask to speak with the doctor (because again this is visit #2), the nice lady can tell I am a bit frustrated, she goes to get the doctor for me, and tells me she cant see me and ill need to reschedule a visit. By many standards, I never send food back, I am polite with not polite folks...but this is my family member, and I could not tolerate that I was spending time and money at her business but she didnt make any time for me (or my dog I suppose). If I wasnt happy, in all likelihood my dog wasnt happy. I explained quietly to the lady that I Was disappointed that the doctor could not meet me or professionally introduce herself. Did I mention after she rang me up for services rendered she ( the kind office lady) told me there was a prescription Chula needed. If youre not going to talk to me atleast be organized. I have left to another vet and got a phone call from the doctor personally when Chula was ready for pick up and spent time with me explaining what was wrong with my dog and what steps were next. I have never written a long YELP review, but I guess since Im not a picky eater / or bad business experiences I dont have much to say, but when it comes to services rendered to my family- I have a bone to pick. Clearly some folks are happy here and that makes me happy knowing that(for both owner and pet), but for myself and Chula we will not be returning. *for the record the doctor did have her staff call to apologize to me and requested I set up time to speak with her. (I believe that what my 2 visits were for- these visits all took place between sept and october). Read Less

I used to take my pets to Adobe, until now, I called today to schedule an appt for my 15 yr old pit bull who was diagnosed with cancer about 2 yrs ago. He's not doing too great so I wanted to have the Dr. Examine him and tell me if its time to put him down cause I don't want him to suffer anymore than what he already is, well that didn't seem to matter to much to them, in fact, they were more concerned about a past balance they say I have which I was completely unaware of, when I asked why I had this balance of $180.00, they stated that the balance was due to a couple of missed appointments, one in 2014 and one in 2010, and that I would have to first pay this balance before my dog is seen , I still did not understand why so much for 2 missed appointments, they then stated that the fee adds up every month starting from the month that I missed my appointment. If you don't call to cancel, not only do they charge you a one time fee for missing your appt, they continuously charge you every month after that until you remember to call and specifically say that your cancelling your appt. I think that is completely ridiculous and crazy, and that is exactly what I told them before hanging up. I will never deal with them again, they were very cold hearted and very inconsiderate towards the feelings of the customer....and I DO NOT INTEND NOR WILL I PAY for that outrageous phony balance they say I have, that staff can "KISS MY A%# !!! This is the worst place ever to take your animal. Extremely long waits and terrible customer service.  I took my two dogs in as I was preparing to deploy. Wanted to make sure they were up to date with shots and so forth.  I was concerned about my older dog having a lot of wax in his ears and the doc recommended doing a flush of his ears. This dog is 10 yrs old and has never had any issues with his ears. Immediately the next day he was in pain. I called, they told me to give benedryl. The following day he was still in pain. I  called and they asked me to bring him in.  He had a severe ear infection and put silicon antibiotics. It's been 8 days and my dog cannot hear a thing. The doctor offered that she did not have any answers for me and basically said she had a deaf dog at home and he gets along just fine.  My point is my dog was not deaf when he got a cleaning and infection as a result of the cleaning.  I  will never return to this vet..I don't trust them at all,  a vet tech cleaned my dogs ears and I'm not sure how much training he had.  They deserve zero stars, unfortunately I was forced to select at least one. I highly recommend Dr. Mushkott, who has cared for my cat and my daughter's dog. Dr. Mushkott grasps the big picture and is an excellent communicator. He does not try to sell clients things their pets don't need. For example, my cat was very old and her health had been very poor for 2 years prior to coming to Dr. Mushkott. I tried two other vets before I came to him. By this time, I had spent perhaps a couple of thousand dollars on my cat, vets did not have any suggestions for how to make her better, given her age, but kept advising expensive tests that had already been done. According to the vets, these tests had shown nothing helpful, and even if they had, would not have led to anything that would have improved my cat's health. With his years of experience, Dr. Mushkott could explain from tests what was going on. It was easy to have the difficult conversation with him about options and how to know when it was time to put the cat down.  With Dr. Mushkott,  we used medication to treat the condition, but otherwise, just kept her comfortable with fluids until it was her time to go. Her demeanor actually improved quite a bit and she was able to enjoy life for quite a while before it was time to put her down. Read Less

Horrible experience ..my dog went in for a skin rash on her back my dog is a small chi and my dog never snapped at the tech but since I said sometimes she does cause she is scared made tge doctor insists to put a muzzle on her a plastic head gear and had a tech plus I hold her down like she was a pitbull my poor baby was so scared she was foaming at the mouth and was breathing very heavy I really thought my dog was going to have a heart attack ..the doctor would not see her unless all this was done ..over a small rash... she told us she doesn't get paid enough to get bit by a dog ..and also told me my dog needed therapy for being so scared and gave me a card of prob a friend of hers to call to set up therapy sessions to teach my dog proper behavior ..I'm sorry but if your mouth was tied up with a head gear and had two people holding you down just to look at a rash I'm sure no one would be calm ..my poor chi was traumatized there and will never take her there again Read Less

We had a decent enough experience with this hospital until we decided to get our dog neutered here. We were not given an approximate time to pick the dog up, and were under the impression that he would be staying overnight. Later that day, I received a call from Adobe, but I was unable to answer the phone. I was called again later in the day, and when I answered I was told I needed to come pick my dog up, right that second. I told them it would be a little while before I would be able to pick him up, at which time I was informed that the clinic was closed and if I couldn't pick him up right then, that he would have to be boarded. I asked how much this would cost me, and was prepared to be angry because I wasn't given any warning about this (not given any warning about what time I would need to pick him up, and not given any warning that I would have to pay for boarding if I didn't pick him up at that time, not to mention they called me, but they did not leave a message, and they did not attempt to call my husband's phone which they should also have in their records as our entire account with them is under his name). I was then told not to worry about it, and that I would not be charged. They asked me to come pick him up before 10 the next morning and I agreed. Upon arriving the next day however, they did charge me for boarding. When I said that I was told there wouldn't be a charge, I was told "I never would have said that. I told you we MIGHT not charge you." The lady then proceeded to argue with me and my husband, basically calling me a clueless liar who didn't remember the phone call we had just had the day before. She was extremely rude, and cared more about winning the argument than keeping a customer. Because we didn't have any interest in appeasing her desire to be right at all costs, we paid the petty boarding cost and will never ever go back. Apparently, at this hospital, a 20$ boarding fee and winning an argument is more important than keeping a customer who has 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a steady paycheck to keep paying for their continued health. Go here only if you're prepared to be treated like crap. Also, if my dog's ravenous hunger upon arriving home is any indication, I would guess my dog wasn't fed at all the entire time he was there. I needed a vet for my cat and this vet met me at the office at midnight! My cat was very sick and needed euthanasia so she wouldn't suffer. The vet was caring and compassionate.I took my dog in to see this vet, and again found her very caring and compassionate. The staff were great, the fees were very reasonable and my dog received great care! How many vets will come in and see your cat or dog after office hours without charging the typical emergency fees? Our dog had enlarging tumors, one of which started bleeding one day from her chewing on it. Our regular vet couldn't get us in, and recommended that we try Adobe. We ended up having them remove two large tumors from her side. She's an old dog, and during the first surgery, she had a dangerous drop in her blood pressure. The vet kept us updated, had to stop the surgery before the second tumor was removed, and stayed with her until she stabilized, keeping her overnight. We took her back a couple weeks later to remove the other tumor, and they gave us a great discount because of having to do the surgery over two visits (and actually removed a third tumor, did her teeth, clipped her nails, and expressed her anal glands). I didn't get to make it to any of her appts (my husband took her), but I have been very impressed with the great care, very thorough notes and discharge instructions. Previously going to Banfield, I am used to the cookie cutter documentation and instructions. As a physician myself, I really appreciate the extra time Dr. Russi took to type out information about her surgery and condition, and specific instructions so that our dog could have the best chance of a quick recovery.A very satisfied doggie mama! Today, my daughter went to Adobe to pick up her dog's Trixfexis. Upon her arrival, at 12:45pm, the front doors were locked. An "hours of operation" sign, states closing time is 1:00pm. She called the office and was told they closed early! Since there was no sign on the door, saying Adobe closed before the posted 1:00pm closing time, the office staff should have been gracious enough to open the doors and sell the Trixfexis. Read Less

Wonderful, caring people! I got to know them well because my cat, Onyx, had a number of health problems and every single person there took great care of her. When I boarded her there I was able to leave town with no worries. They went above and beyond in care and thoughtfulness of both her and me. When she was hospitalized they did eveything they could to make her comfortable. I also had to bring her in twice a week for sub-cutaneous fluids and she was not very cooperative but they were very good sports about it. They were patient with my questions and answered after-hours calls promptly. I eventually had to put her to sleep but they were very sensitive to both her and me. Everyone there, from Dr. O'Neil and Dr. Lucie to everyone on the staff, is a quality, caring person! Read Less

Our sweet old JRT required emergency care followed by a long surgery with Dr. O'Neil.Dr. Russi and Vet Tech Irene met us at the hospital at 9pm on a Sunday!We received the best care! After worrying for a while in regards to our Husky Female being in labor and was not progressing normally we got extremely worried. We tried calling other 24/7 Vet Clinics/Hospitals and they were just too far to drive to take a look at our Husky. So we ended up calling Adobe Animal Hospital of off Oxnard, CA close to 5 points reference from a great experience we had on our previous Dog. After calling them explaining our situation they were very friendly on the phone and in person. Not only that they have a 24/7 emergency care I would definitely recommend this fantastic environment including their fantastic friendly staff  to all who are need of there pets needs.
