I will never take my two fur babies to any Veterinarian other than Dr. Fahmy! He took excellent care of our wonderful family member-Bichon, "Charlie" who lived to be almost 16 years old. He is now caring for our two "girls"-our 2 rescued Bichons, Abbey and Lilley. Dr. Fahmy is so very knowledgeable, professional and above all else compassionate! It is so evident that he cares tremendously about the animals he treats and does an excellent job providing explanations about our pets' health and wellbeing if there is an acute issue as well as ensuring we are educated about preventative care to keep them healthy and happy! The Dr. is very knowledgeable and appears to keep up on the most recent research. He was very friendly and didn't "upsell" like all of these other people said he does. He said our dog didn't need anything done, but said that we could get a anti inflammatory for our dog, but said he didn't think we needed it. And if you try and purchase you're pets RX meds online "cheaper" they will make every effort to make it as hard as possible for you to get a prescription. Once they take you and you're pet back to sit and wait for 30mins. The Vet will do a bunch of test without ever giving you an estimate. Don't be surprised if they hit you with a $500 bill for urine and blood test.. Bad Practice wont keep patients around the way they do business.Read Less

I have never posted a review of anything on Yelp before. I must do it now. Dr. Fahmy and his staff were our vet for our dog's entire life. He was never anything less than honest, compassionate, and caring. Never did he recommend something that he felt she didn't honestly need, whether it was shots or treatment. When the end came he was completely honest and open, and never tried to give us false hope. We appreciated that so much. The staff is top notch, and we always felt their concern for our girl was genuine. I can't recommend Marina Animal Hospital and Dr. Fahmy highly enough. We are extremely grateful to have had them take care of our sweet puppy. Read Less

When we just to moved to our house in the collection area, our beautiful 6 lbs dog was playing near my husband in the drive way and was bitten by a pit bull mixed. It took almost 10 minutes to separate my dog from the other dog's mouth - we rushed our dog to the emergency hospital and spent 3.5 hrs waiting and praying. We were told our baby dog was okay but she had a 1 to 1.5" open wound between her thigh and the lower abdomen and it was deep so they recommended surgery just to make sure her intestine was not punctured. The surgery would be approximately $3500 or higher depending what else needed to be done. We asked for a 2nd option and were told that we can bring our dog to her vet on Monday - She was not in danger for her health or in pain. When we brought our dog to Dr. Fahmy, he was so glad that we opted not to have the surgery because she would have not made it due to the yanking and shaking during the biting and trauma that she was through, the surgery would be too much for her. He cleansed her would and spray it with antibiotics. He prescribed oral antibiotics and pain medication. The whole visit cost $80 and he was so compassionate. We returned for a follow up and our dog was healed and well. Dr. Fahmy has been the vet of our 7 dogs. And a few years later when she was pregnant, he cared for her and her puppies. When we boarded the dogs, they were so well taken care and the staff treated them like family members: played with them and walked them. We could tell our dogs love going here. We moved away but if we move back to Oxnard area, Dr. Fahmy definitely will be our vet again. Read Less

Took my Rhodesian Ridgeback in to see Dr. Fahmy. She was extremely lethargic, had no  appetite and was passing blood in her stool.  This was the third day.  Dr. Fahmy gave her an exam, administered an IV of fluids and prescribed some medicines for her. He NEVER once, tried to upsell me, or push for additional lab work.  I fact, he suggested no lab work because I did not have a stool specimen!  Great office, great Doc and I have found a good Vet almost right around the corner from me! Dr. Fahmy's office is over 60 miles from where I live, but I wouldn't trust my best friend under anyone else's care.I came to Dr. Fahmy because my maltipoo needed about 10 teeth pulled out as he had severe tooth decay. I did my research on the procedure and the required expenses and knew that quality/ expertise was way more important than shopping around for the lowest price. Not wanting to drive to Oxnard, I almost made the mistake of having the procedure done by a doctor who was suggesting skipping bloodwork on my mature dog who was about to have a serious operation!!When I decided to go to Dr. Fahmy, he was so kind and you could tell he actually cares! All the tests and medications he suggested were essential (I did my research to know what common practice was for my dog's procedure) and he never tried to nickel and dime me.  I was also shocked when Dr. Fahmy's prices were actually LESS than what I expected to pay based on all the work he did!Dr. Fahmy gave my dog the best medical treatment and my dog experienced zero of the side effects that can be expected. My dog was back to acting his usual self that same day and his mouth has never been better. What surprised me the most was that the next day I received a personal call from the doctor himself to see how my dog was doing and to tell me the results of his bloodwork.I suggest Dr. Fahmy to every one with a fur baby and my aunt even had the same procedure done for her tiny  5 pound chihuahua with equal success!!! Front Desk Staff and Techs were always great and friendly....BUT the vet would always try to up sell you and push to sell products and get extra "lab work" and procedures done that my pet never needed. I felt like I was going to buy a car and the pushy salesmen were there in the form of a vet. Not a good impression. I felt like my dog never even got thorough medical care. Way overpriced. I was hoping to find a good vet on this side of town but it seems like they are only going for the upsell. Took our pup in for kennel cough and got pushed for other test and and shots that have already been done. I understand and dont mind them asking but is business that bad where you start feeling like your at a used car lot? Just be like they do at fast food joints, "would you like to add on this for an extra $1" Geesh this place really turned me off.  I even went to best buy the other day and declined all the extras. Salesperson said ok and have a nice day. These people really need to go to a training/customer service seminar. Read Less

I am very disappointed by the way I was treated by Dr. Fahmmy. He is more interested in running up your expenses than what is best for your pet. We have been going there for 5 years and I noticed that he spends a lot of time trying to sell the products on his shelves as if they are the best.  I tolerated this behavior because I know how to push through and ignore the sales pitch but now I needed him to help my sick dog. It didn't matter because he still tried pushing for tests that had no bearing on my dogs health. When he didn't have the answers, he told me he would talk to a specialist (4 days and $76 later for no answers). No one wants to wait that long for a diagnosis that I believe was very simple to see in the X-rays. I don't think he even spoke to anyone. I know a lot of vets try to sell you for more tests and products they carry but have some compassion. Most people care more for their pets than they do for anything else and I think they are just taking advantage of the situation. That is sad. I will never return to this place. Read Less

I have been bringing my cats here for many, many years.  Dr. Fahmy has treated them, cured them and even helped let them go when the time was here.  He is a doctor that will be 100% honest with you and has your pet's best interest at heart.  When it's time to let them go, he will tell you honestly.  When there is hope, he will do his best.  After examining my 18 yr old cat a few months ago, he told me that her mouth needed attention and her teeth should be cleaned.  I made the mistake of dismissing it, afraid of the anesthesia, etc on a cat at that age.  Last week, I ended up, late one night, at an emergency ER where she was treated (at a very high cost) for her mouth infection.  The next day, Dr Fahmy saw her, continued antibiotics and added another.  Within a few days, she was better.  He also recommended the dental treatment, assuring me that she could tolerate it and I agreed, with reservations.  I turned my trust over to the Doc.She had her surgery today and she is doing fine and I blame myself for the emergency because I didn't follow his advice.  She handled the anesthesia well, under his close supervision.  She is minus several teeth now but able to eat and we all hope for a full recovery.Dr. Fahmy has an amazing education, compassion and common sense to help you and your beloved pets. His staff is equally amazing.  From the office staff to the techs, they know how much our pets mean to us. Dr Fahmy saved my Dog's Life... My Golden Retriever had a Cancerous growth on her side that I had ask my first Vet about many times.. and he said it was nothing... Thank God I found Dr. Fahmy because he told me he thought it was Cancer and after taking a sample of the growth it was bad news.... I thought I was going to lose my best friend but Dr. Fahmy operated and removed all the Cancer that would have killed my dog if I had listen to the other Vets in the Ventura Area...  My Golden is now 12 years old and Cancer Free....I found Dr. Fahmy through a friend of mine whos dog had been poisoned by a neighbor... Dr. Fahmy stay  with my friends dog all night long and saved it life..  How many Vets in this day and age would do that... Only Dr. Fahmy... Read Less

Had surgery done on our 9 year old Jack/Chi mix Patches. They removed stones from his bladder, it has been 4 months and our dog is more active than before the surgery. Dr. Fahmy and his staff are fantastic.  I have been going to Marina animal hospital for years, and doctor Fahmy's staff have helped with everything from routine medical diagnosis and well doggie visits, to helping with a new litter of puppies and some scary illnesses as well.  I  can't believe anyone has had a bad experience  here.  Dr. Fahmy, his lab techs and his office staff are all terrific.  Believe me I would NEVER put any of my dogs' health in jeopardy if I thought the quality of care was in any way substandard. The vet is excellent with my dog who has anxiety issuses but he has no fear with this vet. They can be pricey on the meds in which you can get cheaper at a pharmacy. The only problem I have is the staff returning my phone calls. My dog needs to be on anxiety medication, they won't call me back with a prescription so I can order the medication online.. Overall, my dog has been treated great and has no fear when it's "vet" time. Read Less

Dr Fahmy has been my vet for the last 10 years and has bailed us out and helped out animals more times than I can count. Never once has he ordered unnessecary testing, and has always helped us make the best choices possible with the strain of veterinary expenses. He is extremely caring and gentle with the animals. Veterinary work is expensive, so naturally at times I would call other vets for comparative pricing. That only proved to show how much he was helping us financially as well. All in all, veterinary visits often involve heartbreaking decisions with members of the family, I am glad to have Dr Fahmy on my side to help get through these decisions and my happy healthy pet still with me. So, if you are new in town or looking for a new vet, you will get excellent and caring service at a fair price and possibly the excellent long term relationship I have had here at Marina. Read Less

When I found a little stray in need of care, I took it here and they wanted to do preventative care for everything and even charged me $10 for a flea comb. I keep hearing from other pet owners that this vet cares more about his boat than about animals. Read Less
