My original review said, "Wonderful and caring every time, no matter who sees our cats!" But 9 months later, I feel like this review does not do justice to how thankful I am for all of the staff at Cottage Vet. My husband and I have had our cat Lily for about 2.5 years, and she came with a bundle of health issues that were apparently completely unknown to previous owners despite her being 7 when we adopted her. Lily has always been an over-groomer. Past vets have usually written it off as psychogenic alopecia (not uncommon for her breed, so I can sort of understand). I was never 100% satisfied with that answer, but I'm not a vet so I trusted their word. When we first brought her to Cottage Vet, they said it sounded like it could be allergies. Their recommendation based on her symptoms was to put her on flea preventative because that's the most common allergy for cats. We did, and nothing seemed to change. When Lily developed a rash on her stomach and was scratching herself until she scabbed, I finally got to the point where I didn't care what it would cost, I just wanted to figure out what was going on so that she could finally be comfortable. Together we decided to put Lily on a round of steroids, continue monthly flea preventative, and switch her to a prescription diet. That was how I learned, after two years of owning her, that Lily has a big orange patch on her stomach! I was amazed how quickly she improved. I'm so happy that I found a Vet who listened to me when I said that something wasn't right. Thanks to Cottage Vet, after 9 years Lily can finally be comfortable! And now that she isn't grooming herself during every waking hour, she's no longer vomiting 4+ times per week! Additionally, when Lily's annual blood work indicated signs of pancreatitis I received a phone call that lasted ~20 minutes. I was told everything to watch for, what this could mean in the future, and any question I could think of was patiently answered. When I woke up to find that our other cat Ferdinand Magellan had vomited 6-7 times in the night and there was blood in some of it, they fit me in within an hour of opening. I was really nervous about the cost, because I didn't want to put him at serious risk but I also couldn't afford to do all of the scans and tests they needed to do to make sure he hadn't perforated anything. They printed an estimate of what all the recommended procedures would cost, and then we discussed what I could put off for 24 hours just in case the blood was just from his esophagus. I didn't feel like I was being judged for not immediately doing all of the expensive scans. I'm a worrywart. I take my cats the the vet whenever anything seems out of the ordinary. I think a lot of vets out there would take advantage of someone like me, but I have never felt pressured into expensive procedures and my cats have never undergone unnecessary treatment at the hands of Cottage Vet.Read Less
