I saw Dr. Edginton today with my Old English Sheepdog. It was worth the trip from Woodland Hills to see her. Now we have a direction for treatment. Thank you, Dr. Edginton! The best.

I actually went in there a few months ago and didn't get around to writing a review, but I am now as a warning for other people. I first called the office and asked how much they charge for seeing the doctor and I was told a figure around $165. I specifically called ahead and asked because my dog had just gotten a $8,000 surgery and I didn't want to spend more than $200. When I the doctor saw my dog she said hmm, let me see if she has an ear infection. And carried on to do a test and then two more tests. She comes back and says that my dog does not have an ear infection, ring worm, fungus etc. She then proceeds to tell me that my bill is now almost $400. I was completely shocked because firstly I already knew my dog did not have any of those things because I had already taken her to my normal vet and they couldn't figure out what was wrong, thus me going to the dermatologist, secondly she did not tell me a head of time that what she was doing was an extra cost. Ever pet clinic, or any doctors I have ever gone to, always told me before doing a test that it cost additional money. And after looking at the receipt the initial "$165" didn't even cover anything. I was literally paying $165" for the vet to say hi to me. She then tells me that the test that will probably figure out what is wrong with my dog is an additional $400. Had I had that information in the first place I wouldn't have had her do any other tests and only do the last one. I left the place $400 short and received no help. This place is very unprofessional and seem more interested in money then actually helping your pet. That is my experience. Read Less

I don't hate this place, however, I felt hustled. First off there is a fee ($165) that is called the "initial examination fee". This is what you will pay when you walk in the door and before the actually examine your pet.  While in the exam room with my pet they looked at the overall condition of his skin and focused on the problem area... where he had been licking his paws. I was then asked by the Doctor "was it ok if she pulled some hair and perform a scrape"? I am not a doctor and have no expertise in pet dermatology so I simply communicated that you do what you need to do so that we can figure out what is going on. As the doctor left with hair samples and a scrape sample a different employee came in and went over the "quote" and said "so far we have the initial fee of $165 and the cytology/skin scrape is 82.50.  So your current invoice is 247.50 not including lab fees and taxes. I felt like I pulled into a jiffy lube expecting an oil change for the managers special but in the end they didn't have the right oil for my car and because of that it ending up costing 10x as much without an actual reason. As a business owner I understand processing fees and the cost of employees but I filled out everything online that, clerically speaking, was more than likely drag and dropped into a file with my name on it on their server. This probably took all of 60 seconds for any employee with knowledge of the system. The doctor then came back in the room to tell me that they think he has a fungus problem and that there are no guarantees but my 3 options are... A. Keep him on the same medication that worked. B. A CADI shot that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't but it's up to me whether I want to go that route. C. Get an allergy blood test done to specifically figure out what he is allergic to help his overall comfort. So in the end I left with no assurances that his condition would get any better unless I wanted to shell out over a $600 (which I did) dollars for a allergy test that may or may not work so that they could build a serum to help his body build up whatever it is that pets bodies build up that maybe might help elevate the problem but they're not sure if it will at all or for how long. They gave me the same prescriptions for his condition that his regular vet gave me two months previous and scheduled a visit to come back in 4 weeks to see if he's getting any better on medication that already made him better... for another initial examination fee of... your guess is as good as mine. I paid for everything they asked me to pay for but In the end I didn't received any new information that I didn't already have from the regular vet. Pet dermatology seems to be a big coin toss that costs a lot of money every time you flip the coin. Read Less

I am not happy with ADC Pasadena. I live in LA, but drove past all the other ADC's closer to home because this one had such good reviews. I wasted time, gas, and money. Food TrialThe first thing the doctor did was put my dog on a new diet (a six-week food trial) to rule out a food allergy. I was very concerned because he is a picky eater and had lost tons of before on food strikes because he didn't like the food. I asked the doctor if there was any other option or any other food. She said no, other than cooking for him. So I tried it. After about two weeks, he wouldn't eat the new food anymore. Lost weight and I realized I couldn't continue the food trial like that because he completely stopped eating. When I called and told the doctor what was happening, she gave me a different option of food to feed him for the food trial and told me to start the six weeks from the beginning. Ok, so when I initially asked if there was any other food option, I was told no, but when he stopped eating that food, there was suddenly another option? I didn't like that I had been lied to. Further, his allergic reaction became so much worse on the new food. He had red itchy bumps everywhere. Return VisitI came back to visit at the end of the six weeks and had to see a different doctor because the original doctor was no longer seeing large dogs. I wasn't able to get an unbiased opinion from this different doctor because rather than examine my dog for himself, he came in with a preconception of my dog's issue and the course of action based on notes from or discussions with his prior doctor. He was useless. When I expressed concerns that my dog's condition had gotten WORSE on the food trial, he basically told me that was ok, that his new condition was a new baseline and I needed to see if it gets even worse when I reintroduce his prior food. Really?!?!Allergy TestingI asked on multiple occasions about allergy testing and they put me through this food trial in which my dog lost weight and his allergies got worse...and they didn't give him any allergy tests. How can you diagnose an issue without tests? I presume the food trial was a test, by it was really a joke. A sick joke (pun intended). I don't know what this is, but I didn't need to see a specialist for that. I finally took him off the crappy food prescribed for the food trial (it's lots of soy and "meal" and all the bad stuff that everyone says not to feed your dog) and put him back on dog food with quality ingredients and his condition started clearing up immediately. TodaySo today, my dog still has allergies. They never completely went away, but they did get much better after I took him off the diet that ADC Pasadena put him on.  I didn't feel like ADC Pasadena did anything to make my dog better and only made him worse. That is in addition to them lying to me and not giving him any allergy tests. I am seeing another veterinarian now and just got an allergy test (blood) for environmental allergies. We are waiting for the results. ADC PasadenaAgain, a waste of time and money, and no solutions for my pet. They actually made him worse. Read Less

Let me be clear, ADC can be a valuable resource, but know that in the end you are on really on your own. The doctors here can be helpful and in some cases, I assume they will be able to solve your issue. However, for those of us with pets that have more complicated needs, this place will be one of the many resources needed to help your pet and to help you maintain your sanity. We have made great improvements with their help, but know that the expense of dealing with a allergy ridden pet is very costly. I think that ADC could be better about helping with follow up questions after your visit, but we find that we usually have to book a return visit in order to get any answers--an unfortunate added expense. I want to thank the entire staff at Animal Dermatology Clinic, especially Dr. Charli Dong DVM, the vet techs and assistants too. From the moment I stepped in their clinic with Macadamia I felt welcome. They took great care in testing and further diagnosing, educating me and creating the best treatment plan for Macadamia. He is now a happy, playful, lovable pup living a normal life. His hair has grown back, he's no longer in pain and he only itches a little bit. With their treatment plan including the care I put in his overpopulation of Demodex Mange and other infections went away. I am glad they took on his unique case. I am more than happy to recommend your services to other families who have pets in need of specialty care. Thank you all so much. Sarah and Macadamia. Read Less

We saw pretty dramatic results after the first week of treatment.Pricey?  Maybe, but for the level of care given and the amazing results, it's 100% worth every penny.  Every.  Penny.  My only regret is that we didn't bring him here sooner.  My Dog is happy and his hives are a thing of the past.  No more scratching himself raw.  No more steroids.  No more being miserable in his own skin. When I adopted/rescued my French Bulldog I didn't realize what I was getting myself into. As the lady was shoving him into my car all she said is "don't worry he's just allergic to grains!" And so began the process of spending spending spending with little relief for my dog. Finally we made it to see Dr. Dong at the Pasadena clinic and she is great!  Our frenchy's allergies are finally on a manageable path and hopefully won't cost nearly as much. The support staff is also amazing. My only complaint is that during my last visit they had me buy a $100 worth of medication only to call me a week later to tell me to suspend it and come get a shot instead which was another $100. I wish they would see the bigger picture, if they might want you to not use something don't prescribe it because you can't return it. I'd rather get a call to come in and get the script later. Sometimes it can be embarrassing to ask what the prices are before you make your appointment. We all care about our pets but I'd rather know what to prepare for. For those of you trying to figure out what it's going to cost I will give you a break down. Total for first visit was $500Initial visit: 160Skin Scraping: $80ish Apoquel (allergy medication) $100 for 45Shampoo: $40Prescription Anti-Histamines: $40 anti-spetic wipes: $20Second visit was around $650 Exam : $87Blood Work for allergy testing:  $500ishApoquel: $100 Third Visit: $618 At this visit they kept my dog for the whole day to adjust his body to his allergy medication that I will be injecting him with daily. The fee for this was $300 and I went back and forth about spending the money on it but in the end it was a good decision because if there are any adverse reactions they are there to take care of it. The other $318 was for the allergy medication, syringes and needle receptacle. The medication should last about eight months. Read Less

Bulldog owners, you will love this place! When our french bulldog developed allergies it was an extremely emotional and financial roller coaster. We were constantly making emergency visits to vets without concrete answers on what was causing his skin breakouts. We've been working with Animal Dermatology Clinic on his condition, and have noticed a vast improvement in his day-to-day life. While the medical costs are high, it was a big relief to work with doctors who were confident that they could help us and were knowledgeable on allergies typical with the bulldog breed. On a side note, our dog also had a wart near his eye for about half a year that was also a constant issue we were dealing with. Every vet we were talking to said it would go away on it's own and if it didn't we would have to look into having it removed via surgery. Not an ideal option for a brachycephalic dog with a wart in the corner of his eye. Our derm prescribed him a medication and within a month the wart gradually went away with no surgery required. I love this place. They've been a great help to us. Read Less

I think quite highly of this place. Though it's pricey (as all forms of petcare are) -- I sense that instead of just throwing guesses and taking stabs at your pet's health, they REALLY know what they're doing here. My experience with my dog Wakame is that both times, they've successfully figured out what was wrong with her skin issues. It comes at a hefty pricetag but it's certainly more reliable than a regular vet.I got lucky getting Dr. Rosenberg. He is beyond intelligent, and he seems to really care about pets and I hit the jackpot when getting a consultation through him.Would come here again as I trust them exponentially more than my vet. I took my kitten here after doing some research online. A couple months after getting the required vaccinations done Norbert's skin was eating itself. On his nose, his paws, his back. It took some time and tests to figure out exactly what was going on and what could have caused it. Come to find out the vaccine had caused my kitten to have a lifelong skin disease. I even went to a holistic vet during this time to explore all my options. They were very understanding of my concerns of long term medicine and accepting that I was seeing another vet. Norbert is currently back to normal and we are working to decrease his dosage. We see Dr. Dong, but every vet we have seen there is very knowledgable. It can get pricey but they are upfront about costs and accept carecredit, which is a lifesaver. If your pet is having skin issues this is the place to go! Read Less

Dr Angus and the staff at Pasadena are very attentive and well trained.  My Scottie spent the first year of his life extremely itchy.  Nothing was helping so the Vet recommended Animal Dermatology.  After 4 months of Antigen shots, Apoquel and Hypoallergenic Diet he was doing very well. Itching was down from a 10 to 3.It's still not a perfect science though and as we re-introduce regular food it is trial and error.  He has gone 4 weeks on part hypo /  part regular food and until this weekend he seemed to be ok.  Now he's about a 7 on the itchiness.  Is it the food or is something blooming now that wasn't the past couple months.Hopefully science will find a way to accurately test food allergies so there's more to go on. It's a very expensive, frustrating and long process that hopefully results in a set plan for life with little to no itchy. Read Less

I had my doubts coming here, because I had been dealing with my cat Molly's skin issues for years now with few answers. I've been to many vets (out of state where I used to live) and paid a lot of money for tests only to be told "its allergies" and "not much we can do".She had a flare up and subsequent infection of her foot so I had to take her into a new vet (VCA Arden) who referred me to this clinic. I ended up being seen by Dr. Muse.First, the initial consultation was pricey $160 but let me tell you, it was well worth it. Dr. Muse spent an hour-that's right-talking to me about Molly and her history and doing a thorough exam. He was really good with her, and you can tell he has cats of his own. After this hour he recommended testing and treatment. He laid out a lot of options for me, so I could choose what I could afford and what I felt was best.I ended up picking his recommended course of treatment which included a skin biopsy. I'd like to clear up a previous review...the biopy itself was about $300 not $1000. It's really more than I wanted to pay but I thought for a second...how much have I paid already in vet bills to get no solution? And how much more would I pay for temporary solutions that wouldn't treat the real problem? So for me, I bit the bullet and paid for the testing. I'm really glad I did. I'm happy to report that now as a result of her treatments only 3 weeks later she is seeing REAL results! She hasn't had fur on her tail due to excessive itchiness/grooming for over a year and it's already starting to grow back. I also notice her itchiness and coat are improving daily. Her foot infection and inflammation is cured. If you have a pet with chronic skin problems and you haven't seen a dermatologist I couldn't recommend it more. I'm so happy I went, and I know Molly is! I'd also like to say I really appreciate the veterinary technicians and all of their help, especially Lindsey who reviewed my lab results with me and Molly's new medications. Everyone was friendly and professional. I couldn't be happier with my experience here. Read Less

I was referred by our vet to Animal Dermatology Clinic by our regular vet because our dog was having some skin problems. I was hesitant to make the initial appointment because our dog is a very complicated case (she has valley fever and lupus) and I assumed that her neurological issue would supersede the dermatological one, but I made the appointment anyway and I am so happy I did!Upon entering, I let the staff know that my dog can get feisty at the vet so they quickly ushered her to a room. I really appreciated the attention to that detail because I typically stress with her in waiting rooms because I'm not sure how she will react to the other dogs. I waited no longer than five minutes before Dr. Rosenberg came in the room and greeted both of us. He had already read the long medical history of our dog and asked many good questions. At the end of the assessment and after looking out the dog, he let me know that he could perform another expensive exam, but he was fairly certain of what was wrong with the dog. I appreciated his honesty. Dr. Rosenberg had us there for over an hour and I mean that in the best possible way. He explained everything very thoroughly to me and even went so far as to contact our dog's neurologist so they could coordinate medicine. AMAZING!!!! Our vet suggested that we take our little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel to a specialist for a skin and ear condition.  We have several dogs and help out with our national parent club's rescue program.  We have been to many vets and clinics.  I don't know if I've ever met a more competent staff in my life.  These people are amazing.  Dr. Rosenberg is one of the best doctors -- not just of animals -- I've ever met in my life.  From his initial feelings about our little guy to his prognosis and recommended treatment were superb even though our little guy has an issue, which could be pretty serious.  Without hesitation I would recommend this office and in particular Dr. Rosenberg should your dog (or cat) need specialist treatment in the context of dermatology.  Thank you so so so much for taking care of someone who is so important to my family and I.  I'm pretty blown away by the treatment we've received from everyone from the front office, to the tech ... to the absolutely brilliant doctor. How this clinic has only four stars baffles me.  You deserve six.I only wish we would have gone to you guys sooner than let our primary care vet futz around with guesses. My cat had a skin condition that was causing him to itch a lot around his neck. I decided to give the Pasadena Animal Dermatology Clinic a try after my vet referred me and when I got there everyone in the office was very unfriendly. After about a 30 minute wait I finally got into see the doctor. I will say, she was very friendly and seemed knowledgeable, but she only gave me the option of doing a biopsy that would cost over $1,000. I love my cat, but that seemed a little steep for a procedure that may or may not determine the cause of his itching.I decided to sleep on it and call back with a decision the next day. When I called back to ask a few additional questions about the procedure and process the people at the front desk had no clue about any of the details, even after getting my chart! When I asked if there were any additional options for resolving the issue they said no and laughed!I did some more research and found Dr. Werner over at the Studio City Animal Dermatology Center and decided to get a 2nd opinion. I had a completely different experience there! He gave me several options, including a biopsy that would only cost $375! I went with him and now my cat is all better and happier than ever! Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

Had our first appt. with Dr. Angus, who I liked. Sparky likes his new food, Just Food For Dogs. I thought he was going to eat the bowl. Looking forward to the journey.

AMAZING!!!! The bill was not cheap, but it also wasn't excessive. I know we got what we paid for and then some!! Read Less

Read Less
