I have had dogs for over 30 years and have never had such a terrible experience with a veterinarian. I drove 4 hours round trip to have Dr. Bleifer do a lap spay and gastropexy on my Malinois only to have my poor dog's belly burned. I never got to meet the Dr. Bleifer as they are still doing a COVID type protocol, which is ridiculous at this point, and after a phone call that surgery went well, I picked up Artemis and drove home. The next day I noticed some unusual black spots on her belly that were not anywhere near her surgery incisions. I promptly contacted the office via email, with photos, and they said nothing to worry about. Well those little spots grew and grew and my additional emails with photos, phone calls and texts went unanswered. I even called the office to verify that my emails and photos were received, and they were. I ended up speaking to my local vet about the spots and she said it appears that they burned Artemis sometime during the surgery or recovery process. My poor dog is having to recover not only from surgery but from vet inflicted burns and no one from the office has had the courtesy to answer any of my communications. I also asked for additional clarification for activity level after a gastropexy and that email was never answered either. Guess they just wanted my money and have little concern about the animals they are supposed to care for. I do not recommend this clinic. Read Less

I drive two hours to bring my dogs and cat to this place. This is an animal hospital that surpasses your typical mom and pop vet hospital. I have a Great Dane who I had neutered and a laparoscopic stomach tacking done by Dr bleifer (who is the best in my opinion) The procedure went smoothly and he recovered quickly. A few months after that visit my dog started limping I took him to my local vet and he couldn't find the issue. I went back to rose city and had a visit with the rehab doctor and she was amazing. Exercises, supplements we discussed it all. The staff is friendly and really try to help as much as possible. There is the occasional wait as they do see lots pregnant dogs and take in emergencies. Sitting in the waiting room is entertaining. They need their own tv show The cost is very reasonable especially when you know they handle your pet with care and compassion. I have been going to Rose City of years. Love them! From minor to major they have always been there for my dogs. My senior Dane at 10 suffered Cardio issue's. I brought him in for what I thought was bloat, told them what he was doing and they told me to come ASAP. They immediately started with EKG and further testing. Came back with a firm Diagnosis, I almost fainted. Started him on medication immediately and scheduled me for the Cardiologist. Squeezed me in for the appointment a couple of days later as it was very serious. He started feeling better and after the Cardiologist visit at Rose City, started him on treatment. Treatments for dogs with Cardio issues as in people take adjustments and monitoring. Which they dedicated themselves to. Always making room for Wyatt as needed. Once he was stable, he went on to live another year comfortable and happy. He quietly passed in his sleep. The entire time the staff was kind and sympathetic understanding to sometimes panicked calls. They were very, very, very kind to Wyatt. I will always be grateful for their dedication to Wyatt. This wasn't 1st time they have provided this excellent care. We begin with a puppy wellness through Senior Checkup's. For the life our dogs. Love Dr. B, from my visits of all smiles though the ones with tears in my eyes. Read Less

GREAT CHIROPRACTOR & REHAB. Our 7 y.o. Rottweiler (Fritz) sees Dr. Bill Strickland regularly for chiropractic. It has made a huge difference in keeping him mobile. He has hindquarter weakness, due to a neurological condition, and some arthritis. He compensates for his weak back end, trips a lot, and gets pretty twisty when he walks. Eventually it becomes hard/painful for him to get up by himself. We tried another chiropractor before, but a growling Rottweiler can be intimidating and uncooperative. Dr. Strickland's approach experience have worked wonders. He has worked with all sizes of dogs (and horses, etc.) so he handles Fritz well. And Fritz is pretty tolerant of the adjustments, and clearly feels better after his visit. We see significant improvement in his walking after each appointment. He is more square/even in his pelvis. He looks straight, not twisty (for lack of better word). I can tell right away when it's time to go back in. At first, we went once or twice a month. Now Fritz goes for weekly visits - his condition is progressive so there's no 'cure.' However, his quality of life has been much improved by the treatments.  We also did hydrotherapy for awhile, until Fritz just couldn't, and that was excellent there too. Danielle is fantastic. I took my doberman here after doing asking around for an experienced doberman vet. Even though they were almost an hour and a half away I wanted him seen by the most knowledgeable and one that has a cardiologist that comes in the office. My doberman was a week shy of two and has suffered from Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy since he was 5 months old. I took the day off work and took him in on Friday 3/24/17 because I noticed his pain coming back. They were able to squeeze me in only waiting an hour with no appointment. When I walked him back to the exam room the tech made a comment about him limping, I said yes and gave a brief explanation. When the vet came into see us, Dr. Winters, I provided her with Nixon's entire health history from the previous vet along with xrays of his progression. I also showed her videos of him reacting in pain from the night before and his progression from 5 months. She then examined him and said he is in noticeable pain he wouldn't even put weight on his left leg. Dr. Winter said, yes it is definitely HODS. She then said she could treat him with out xrays but they would be interesting to see. I said the cost is not issue, I just want him out of pain and since it was a year prior I would like to see how his bones are now. She then started going over all this treatment and listed these two things she would give him. Also, detailed about how she wanted him back in a week or two for acupuncture and how she wanted he fill his "lantern" up and heal him from the inside. I said that is fine, also I said since he is coming up on two in a week and this is his annual should he have blood work down? After all he has been on Tramadol off and on since he was 5 months old. She said it wasn't needed and that a tech would come back with my estimate. I believe it was $335 or around there. After the x ray, she came into explain them I said no I would rather look at them while you are explaining so she brought me in the back. It was then I took photos with my phone of all the xrays and she said that a radiologist should look at them for $150 to make sure. I said no problem, I completely agree. Checking out the bill was almost or over $700, I'd have to look back to double check that. But whatever I was just happy that he was getting something to feel better. That evening he was in excruciating pain. I'm talking HOURS of barking, whining and focus on his limbs. So much so at 10:30 that night I went to the store and got Benedryl to try and take the edge off along with heating pads on him. That morning. I called at 10:36 am on Saturday I called explaining to Francesca what was going on and that he is in significant pain. She assured me the vet would call me back but she was the only on there. I called again at 2 because I knew they were getting ready to close at 4, she put me on hold while she went and talked to the vet. While on hold I hear they offer cold laser therapy for pain, strange I never got offered that. She finally came back and said yes, what the vet prescribed you you will not be able to see relief for at least TWO WEEKS! I said well, what are we supposed to do in the mean time? She said that the vet suggested Gabapentin in the mean time and if I could get there in time to pick it up. I explained several times how far I was and at this point in the day it is not possible, I would have rushed over if they had responded to my concerns in the morning. I then suggested they call a pharmacy near here or a vets office by my house that does ER care and is always open. Francesca said that she was going to call Costco Pharmacy and Yorba Linda Regional Hospital, the one by my house. She then calls me past 4, their closing time and says that none of those Pharmacies carried that drug. She said they vet said her hands are tied and basically he is out of luck. Took him to an ER vet after an they prescribed me the same stuff Francesca said she called about. This office is neglectful and the manger will not respond to concerns about the staff. They also will not let you speak with the owner of the practice. Read Less

I live in Orange County and have a vet that I love, but went to Rose City for our Standard Schnauzer puppy's ear cropping. I am so impressed by everything about this place: the contact with front desk staff by phone and email prior to the appointment; the staff when we came in for the appointment; everyone involved in the process, especially Bridget for her aftercare instructions. Dr. Bleifer was just wonderful, spending plenty of time with me deciding on the perfect crop for my dog. Had only one experience here (more than enough) that lasted less than one minute. My dog had injured her left rear paw on a nail, so I brought her in at 4:45pm last Saturday after checking Rose City's hours. One woman was behind the desk, another was mopping the floors. I walked in to check in and was told by the mopper that they were closed. I looked at my watch and said they were open for another 15 minutes. She then said, apparently to make it clearer to my thick brain, that the doctor was not seeing anymore clients. I looked at her and decided she wasn't worth another ounce of my energy. So I took Tillie to Pasadena Vet. Hospital and they took her right in. Rose City, in spite of the name, is nothing but thorns. Read Less

I was referred to Rose city Vet from my local Vet because my dog was making a gurgling sound and having difficulty breathing when breathing. When I took my dog there they found out that she had an elongated soft palate, and that she will need surgery. They gave us the price for the surgery. We ask for her to be spayed while she is under anesthesia. After the surgery we picked her up and she still had the same gurgling sound and still having difficulty breathing. We called and the dr. said that its normal after surgery. A week went by and it seemed like nothing changed, so we took her to get checked and the dr. said she has stitches in the throat (I thought it was weird sense the surgery was done with laser). She advised us to come back in about 2 months when her throat its fully healed. Two months passed by and we come back and the Dr. told me she needs to put her under anesthesia to check her throat (weird since she didnt have to do that last time I brought her in). I leave my dog there they call me back while my dog is under anesthesia and they tell me that she had tissue that needs to be removed from her throat and if want them to go ahead and preform a second surgery since she is already under the anesthesia. I came back to pick up my dog and they charged me the full amount for the same surgery again. I asked why I am being charged for the same surgery again! Shouldnt you fix whatever problem I came here to get fixed in the first place? Well apparently thats not how it works at this vet office. I was even willing to pay for half but the full amount is just ridiculous. They refused to release my dog until I paid the full amount again. Im advising to whoever goes to his vet to keep in mind that they do not care about your pet what they care about is getting paid.Read Less

I have been going to Rose City for many years. The doctors are wonderful and care about my pets. The techs and staff are just fabulous and courteous and I am always greeted with a smile. My big boy, Max, went to hydrotherapy there for several years and he looked forward to going there and loved his time in the tank. He passed away there (not in the tank) at 10 1/2. I noticed that he was having trouble breathing and drove him there, they met me in the parking lot and took him right away. He died shortly thereafter and I have never seen such compassion from everyone there. They all knew our Max (as well as our other dogs and kitties) and I wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend them! We were referred by a friend to Dr. La Bounty. When we called his office number it was forwarded to Rose City. We were informed that Dr. La Bounty had retired and that they were now seeing his patients and or taking his calls. We were calling to set-up an appointment to have our pit-bull's ears clipped who was 5 months old in April. We were told by the Rose City receptionist that their schedule was full and she did not yet have the schedule for May and not to worry, pit-bulls could have their ears clipped within the first year. She then took our information and told us she would call us in May and let us know what the schedule was so that we could make our appointment. May came and went and we did not hear back, but we were not concerned because the receptionist said we could do it within the first year. We called again in June, now our pit is 7 months old, and scheduled an appointment for July and paid a $100 deposit. At our appointment on July 3rd we were informed by the vet that our dog was not a good candidate because she was more than 7 months old and that her soft cartilage had already started to form. So, our pit did not get her ears clipped and we were only returned $50 out of our $100 deposit. Our experience with this office obviously was not a good one. Unfortunately, we can't turn back time so make sure you do your research and double check the information given if it is anyone other than the vet! Read Less

I cannot wait to write a full review. LEAVING after over 20 years with these people due to their endless turn around of vets and rude staff and the blood sucking vampires that they are wanting to squeeze any dime they can out of you because they don't know your pets history. And when I say every dime I am not kidding. GET A SECOND OPINION and keep in mind that the staff will never get better. Just a bunch of rude arrogant jerks with no empathy when you are having an issue with a pet, like they've heard all that before... should have left when Dr. Kacey left and Dr. Wu. Read Less

She did a wonderful job, and I know when everything is all done, my girl Regina will have beautiful ears! If I lived in Pasadena, I would definetly come here for my regular veterinary care. Read Less

Read Less

I recently had to put my beloved Maya to sleep. I chose at home euthanasia and Dr. Casey (and Mya, I believe she's a tech) came to my home. Both were very kind and professional and allowed me all the time I needed to prepare for the saddest moment in my life. It is not easy to lose a pet, but having compassionate people like the ones at Rose City Vet Hospital, made it less complicated and put me at ease. As for price, it was actually the lowest priced at-home service I found and I didn't know they performed this service (at home). I will be taking my other kitty to them as well for all his medical needs. Thank you to all. Read Less
