Artaurus Equine Clinic

Petaluma, California
General Info
Veterinary care at Artaurus Equine Clinic in Petaluma monitors animals through the three main body responses (i.e., where they direct their attention, lean for comfort, and how long a specific body part remains tense). A lot of California pet owners know this rhythm. Nonverbal communication is usually the precursor to any interaction. Before any hands-on examination, the team observes tail placement, spatial hesitation, and micro-responses. Lighting and scent factors in each room can be adjusted to prevent the activation of the startle reflex. Appointments are scheduled according to the timeline dictated by each animal’s bodily functions. Orthopedic tests are usually where practitioners who use them start, while others simply scan the body based on the tension patterns they can see. Artaurus Equine Clinic provides services such as diagnostics, laboratory tests, disease treatment, orthopedic care, dermatology, and oral health for multiple species. Importantly, the examination may need to skip some steps or alter their sequence if the dog starts showing signs like lip licking, paw withdrawal, and gaze shifting. Pain indicators rely more on posture and breath than vocalization, which is essential for stoic and prey-species animals. The process of re-acclimation is promoted following treatment. Families are informed about the long-term behavioral effects and additional stress signs to watch for, as well as when decompression should be prioritized over routine pursuits. Home care programs are designed according to the patient’s sensory thresholds rather than independent physical parameters. Artaurus Equine Clinic provides a unique, conversationally engaging veterinary service to California’s families that goes beyond traditional clinical approaches by utilizing an intensely quiet method of perceiving the signals horses exhibit regarding comfort, confusion and calm. The team offers specialized services, including 24-Hour Emergency, Bloodwork, Boarding, Cardiology, and Dental Care. Clients highly praise the practice for its commitment to care and the attention it gives to pets’ needs. Whether it is regular checkups or complicated surgeries, this clinic will ensure your pet gets premium-level treatment in an anxiety-free and friendly environment.

I've had Dr Amber out to my training barn on just a few occasions. I really like that she will take the time to really explain things. After being in the horse industry for decades (giving away my age, yikes!) I'm probably going to ask more questions then some folks. She takes the time to explain and really listens. Also, it is a pleasure interacting with the office. Always friendly and courteous. We are fortunate to have Dr Amber in our area! Read Less

Artaurus has been handling my horses for the past two years - Carrie, one of the vets, has done on-site at our stable in Fairfax, and she is a wonderful, well-rounded vet who does both traditional and non-traditional practice (including chiropractic, and newer treatment methods for soundness issues).  At the clinic itself, I have used Robert for x-ray diagnosis of our racehorse's inflammatory issues, and he is incredibly sweet, patient, and knowledgable.  The staff at the clinic are always super sweet, accomodating, and all around great to work with.  A very down to earth, trustworthy group who know what they're doing.Five stars all the way.
