We have two dogs and two cats, and have treated and eventually lost (after months of extra quality time) one kitty to advanced lymphoma. In every case, from the small things like annual exams to the big things like chemotherapy, Dr. Mintzer has been thorough, kind, and clear with us about our options, costs, and expectations of outcomes. I've had pets for 20 years, and this is the best small animal vet I've had. He's extremely thorough and excellent about diagnosis - has caught things other vets missed before I switched. The staff is caring and efficient. Appointments are on time. They're excellent. I will add, since people talk about the money - they will recommend the best care for your pet, but they are not about the money. They not only have better rates than some other (lower quality) vets I have tried, but they laid out all the options for me and expectations of outcomes when my cat had cancer. They didn't make me feel AT ALL that I should go the most expensive route to try for the most time possible. In fact, Dr. Mintzer was very clear about the risks involved, all the reasons we might have to stop chemo to maintain quality of life for my cat, and at every turn patiently explained our options and worked up detailed estimates on every option. The entire staff always assured me that whenever I decided I couldn't do more, I had done all I could, and given my cat the best life possible. When Tiggy eventually had to stop chemo because Dr. Mintzer saw that his tumor had returned and we should go to hospice care, he again gave me all the options, including referring me to a quality in-home hospice care vet to lower Tiggy's stress. After Tiggy died, the entire staff sent me a beautiful sympathy card with personalized messages. I've never felt anything there except that these people care a ton about animals. If you get to know the staff, you'll find that they are involved in feral cat rescue, they treat their own fur-children with the same care they offer yours, and if you ever (God forbid) are there as often as I am, you'll see them occasionally cry when a long-time elder pet or one who is a fighter loses their fight. You'll also see them cheer when an owner finds a new companion and their grieving is lessened. I'll be with them as long as they're in the area, because I know that they'll diagnose what the other vets miss, they'll give me realistic options and probable outcomes, and they'll honor how much we love our pets.
