This is my go to hospital. I first found this about ten years ago when my dog had a lump on her leg. They were so kind and helpful. It's somewhat expensive, but they try to work with you. They have discounted shots on Saturday, but you have to sign up and wait a long time. Once I didn't want to wait, so asked to see the doctor, they gave my dog the shot at the discounted price. Also, we had some dogs pass away and they were so comforting. They have a candle in the waiting room for that occasion so everyone can be respectful of the situation. I feel they put the pets health first. I mean, I ask for testing when it's not necessary. They explain why not to and if I feel I still want to, they go over the price and do it. Not good at all, they killed my dog, she wasn't that bad when I brought her in and a few day's later she got worse had to put her down, I blame the doctor's there. They don't inform you that they don't have 24 hr care but yet they tell once your pet is in there that they need 24 hr care and that they are not able to provide that, so you are taking a chance in leaving your dog or cat there. The doctors are a bunch of liars too, they reassured me that my dog would be in good hands and that they would handle everything and not to worry and by the time I got back to work the Doctor left and was no where to be found, I was in the hands of 2 other doctors that didn't know what they were doing. Meanwhile, by dog is staring at me gasping for air, it was horrible and yes, I blame them!! I cant stand going by there, I avoid driving by there. I still miss my baby she was only 4 years old and shouldn't have died! I should've listen to everyone who told me not to take her there. Excellent services. Doctors have been great with my two furry babies. All of the staff is great, super helpful, and very patient with the tons of questions I bombard them with. This is one of the most overpriced and negligent places I have ever been to. One of my puppies had his ears cropped. On the second wrapping session, his ears were wrapped too tight. Thus was cutting the circulation and caused infection to the point of almost mutilating the ear. All they could say was sorry and no medication was given. My second puppies had his ears cropped as well, and 5 days later she was diagnosed with parvo when I took her back. The vet didn't even want to touch her.  However they quickly made an overpriced diagnostic for hospitalization. I noticed they don't clean the tables after laying all animals for consultation. This place misdiagnosed my cat a couple weeks ago...Dr George was too concerned with flirting with me that he decided to say that my cat had an allergy...and prescribed antibiotics? Everyone knows you don't give antibiotics for an allergy...my cat has fleas, he is an indoor cat. No idea how they got there, but there is no allergy. They don't care about your pet they only care about your money.  I took 3 puppies that were close to dead because their mom were not able to feed them. I just wanted to ask the doctor what could be an alternative way of feed them as they were born about 24 hours ago. I got there 20 minutes before they closed and the bad attitude front desk lady told me that they were about to closed i explain her the situation and she refuse to do anything about it. I asked her if she could ask the doctor for a quick advise she went to the back she came back in about 2 minutes and her answer was " the vet says to come back tomorrow if the puppies still alive as he is going home soon and has no time to see them"  i was like whatt, really . This place is a scam. They literally gave me the option of either putting my cat down or paying almost 1000$ and it wasn't even guaranteed he'd live  so I said damn I have a son and 1000$ is a lot to pay right now. But getting bad vibes off them I left and took my cat judo with me. As I was leaving, the nurse said just prepare he isn't going to make it. My wife and myself being animal lovers said , he's living. They have a quote on their site for $300 and after I got here they said it is going to be $532.32 and they will not do it unless I paid that amount. Bad experience, I will not be returning. One of the vets was very rough with my little pup and I could hear my dog whimpering when I brought him to have his nails trimmed - I was not allowed to go with him for that. I felt like this place just wanted my money and cared very little about my pup. I also heard that most puppies only need 3 rounds of immunizations but they had me go and pay for 4 rounds. I called to see how much would it cost to get my dog's ears cropped they told me it it cause 300 to 400 okay sounds fair got there about 8:20 I get to the room wait about few minutes then I meet the doctor's assistant was really nice and he tells me what the procedure includes it only includes ear cropping anesthesia and the ear wraps  that's$ 300 I was like damn that's a good price then he pops out with your dog needs pain medication that is $32 he's going to need the the cone the collar that's $12 he's going to need antibiotics that's $20 and some other medication like some chewables for $15 to the point that it add up to $541 I think when you call somewhere and they tell you that is going to cost you about $300 to $400 they should tell you about the other medications that you're going to need for your puppy to the point that at the end I just needed to pay like $426 so when you call and make an appointment for your puppy make sure to ask him what other stuff if you're going to need because you're going to be stuck with a bill of $500 and something. They did a horrible job cropping my great Danes ears. Thanks for ruining my dog. Do not take it here to crop your dog's ears. Their bandaging was done wrong so the ears got infected, and the tips feel of because of the bad stitching. Don't waste your money here!! Read Less

Went here for the 1st time to get my cat vaccinated on a Saturday since they have discounted prices from 12-4pm. I did get there 15mins early and already there were 4 people in front of me so definitely get there early. However the wait time was not too long. All staff was very nice and knowledgeable. Anyone who owns a pet understand that a visit to a vet's office isn't going to be cheap. My little peanut was a victim of a hit and run and was rushed immediately to Pico Rivera Animal Hospital. The office was empty when my dog was taken in however it was still treated as an emergency and I was charged for an "ER" fee - $85 (or so). My sister and I weren't opposed to it because we were so concerned and agreed with checking for internal bleeding as soon as possible. Miraculously , my peanut had 0 broken bones and was only bruised and had a displaced hip. Luckily, he wasn't required to spend overnight at the hospital and he was able to come home that same day. However, he needed to return the following day when a surgeon was present to try and place his hip back in naturally (without surgery) While I was at work, my sister received the invoice for the final bill (for Day 1) and it was a high amount of $600 (& something dollars) and the receptionist (or assistant) upfront just told my sister "just sign here" without even going over what the fees were exactly for.Luckily, my sister works at a vet's office and knew what to cross off that "fee list" Listen, I also work in the medical field and so I'm aware that pretty much any trip you take to the doc's office , the doc will recommend many things that aren't necessarily required at THAT given moment. I'm not saying the doctor's suggestions aren't important, I'm only saying that not everybody can afford unnecessary fees during hard times. The recep. upfront included on that list many things that weren't as urgent at that time ultimately increasing our bill. That's fine , I get she's doing her job however what frustrated me, is the fact that she didn't even bother to provide my sister with a breakdown of what we would be paying but she certainly was so quick to say "sign here" . After looking over the list, (on her own) my sister brought our bill down to $433. My complaint is on the receptionist/assistants at the front desk. They lack good customer service which I also witnessed for myself when I picked up my peanut. Actually, allow me to be fair- There are two girls in particular that I encountered myself with (which is probably the same one my sister dealt w/ based off description) who I didn't appreciate the way she "assisted" us.  I didn't catch her name but she along with her buddy is the reason for the less than stellar review. Regarding Dr. Puneet Goraya , thank you for being friendly and kindly showing me the x-rays performed on my peanut.  I also respect and thank the surgeons (didn't get a chance to meet) who managed to pop his hip back in. I have a baby German shepherd who needs his shots and I'm hesitant about coming back here. As much as I appreciate the doctor who assisted me, I am not sure I can stand unwelcoming service from the front desk staff. This establishment appears cozy inside and there is a parking area in the back but I always believe customer service is very major and important especially because the majority of the times, direct conversation and first contact is with the staff upfront.  Many times, they play a HUGE role on returning customers, first customers, referrals etc. Welcoming service is a major key for me. Paying a high medical bill is NO fun (but def. worth it if it means saving or helping your pet's health) - so let's make it a bit better and worthwhile w/ kind service for the worrying parents in the waiting room. Can I pick my vet next time? Brought my cat in and paid 500.00 to be sent home with a dehydrated cat and a it might be this with no instructions on what to do. He wasn't eating or drinking water and slept for hours. I forced Pedialyte in him for 4 days and some food and woke up him every now and then make sure he was alive. Sad service this time around. My wife forgot an appointment we had this morning because of a family emergency and I was unaware that she rescheduled an appointment to today for our dog. I get a call at 9:46am from the hospital saying if I was still bring my dog in for his appointment. I told her that I'm not aware of any appointment and did we have one today? She replies, "uh ya!" My response was don't give attitude for any reason but especially something I'm unaware of. I told her your a business, where is your professionalism? The administration at that front desk do not know how to conduct themselves in a professional and business setting. I have never in all of my years of owning and caring for pets experienced anything like I did this morning at this place. My dog needs multiple orthopedic surgeries and I accidentally left the house without my wallet and these people took my dog away from me to the back and held her hostage until I could pay refusing to take payment over the phone! I had two people on the phone willing to pay with credit cards one of which was my credit card and could send a copy of my ID but I was treated horribly by the staff and the director Lizette. My dog was physically taken away from me and held from me over $178 I was willing to pay 5 times over to get my her back. This was terrifying for me and my dog and we will not be back. The owners were aware of the situation and made the decision to not accept payment over the phone. A family member was willing to email copies of their credit card and ID much further compromising their security than processing the transaction over the phone which was their excuse. And I finally got my dog back...I also observed the front desk staff refuse a long time patient the senior discount for her mothers (very expensive) cat food because her mom hadnt written a check and sent her ID with her daughter. Her daughter had noticed the animal needed more food, is ALWAYS the one who picks up the food for the pet just happened to be there with her own pet and wanted to pick up food for her senior parents pet and they still would NOT honor a senior discount. SHAME ON YOU!!! This is the worst experience Ive ever had in a veterinary office and Ive had pets and been the sole provider of their care for more than 30 years.Read Less

Wow, so I take my old friend, to get his nails trimmed, he's a mid sized, 8year old chihuahua, so they take him in, and come back after a bit, "sir, as we where trimming his nails, one broke, and it's bleeding, we could have the doc look at it to see, what can be done." Ok I say.The come back and tell me that my $17 nail trim is now $171.00 including the $30 something consultation, and medical procedures. I'm like he had no broken nail when he got here! She walked away. And then I was told just to pay the trim bill.Now I'm on my way to a second vet to see if they can make him feel better.What a crock of sh*t. I am an animal rescuer and I also show dogs. Therefore, it is very important to me to have a very skilled vet and staff who know what they're doing and are willing to work with me (I have enough knowledge to be a pain at times with all my questions and all the animal's needs). I have brought hundreds of animals to Pico Rivera Animal Hospital over the years, both those I've rescued as well as show dogs, and each animal is given the same loving care, no matter what their origins are. I have also referred more people than I can count to him, and all of them have been thrilled with the treatment their pets got from this hospital. I have been going to Pico Rivera Animal Hospital now for about 40 years, starting when Dr. Clark was still the owner. When Dr. Goraya purchased the practice, things got even better. He is an incredible diagnostician, and a master surgeon, I believe he is probably one of most expert vets on the west coast when it comes to orthopedic surgery, which he specializes in. The prices are very reasonable and his staff is also very caring and professional. Everyone there truly cares about the animals and take a personal interest in properly caring for each and every patient. I don't usually write any reviews on line, but after searching for 5 years, trying to find a good vet, and finally discovering Pico Rivera Animal Hospital, I cannot recommend them enough, they are truly one in a million and will always do their best to help your pet.
