Dr. Welsh is an incredibly talented, caring and invested veterinarian. She actually treats your pet instead of just sending you home with meds. She is also an extraordinarily gifted surgeon. My long haired dachshund had a melanoma tumor between his toes, and she removed it all without sacrificing his toes. We live in Gilroy now, but drive our 18 year old back to San Jose to see her. Dr. Welsh worth the drive, and the old boy- 18 now- deserves nothing but the best, and she is the best. Read Less

Dr. Tina Peak and staff are the most wonderful people on earth. They care and monitor your pet and they are extremely resourceful. I first called for urgent care and they told me Dr. Peak is only seeing guinea pigs here on Mondays and Fridays because Dr. Sanders doesn't see guinea pigs as he has allergies. (I do relate to that as my parents are allergic to guinea pigs) I had her for only two appointments for my beloved late guinea pig Pumpkin. The clinic is very quiet and relaxed. Normally Pumpkin was very uptight in other clinics as phones are ringing, dogs are barking, and cats meowing. It's nice that it's a small clinic. I'd rather take any pet here rather than City vet clinics. Unfortunately Pumpkin was put down today. Dr. Peak and staff know how much humans are attached to guinea pig owners. Plus they are inexpensive compared to city vet clinics. Thank you Dr. Peak and the whole staff for your care and compassion. To my family, you were guardian angels for Pumpkin as well as us. We would come back in the future when we have future guinea pigs. :) Read Less

I just lost my bearded dragon, Scutero, after having him for almost 4 years.  I raised him from a baby.  The day after I got him, I took him to Dr. Chris.  His first years were hard because of bacteria that some carry that are bred here in the US.  Scooter had a great few years and eventually succumbed to a virus.  Everyone at WVH were great through the years and I just received a thoughtful sympathy card from them that everyone signed.  What a great caring group of people.  Your birds or reptiles would be in great hands with everyone there. I brought my Diamondback turtle to Wildwood after he was not eating for weeks and was getting progressively worse into a state in which seemed he would not getting better even with many attempts with different antibiotic shots as prescribed by Wildwood. It was a very long road and lot of bumps in the road, a lot of money as well but in the end it all worked out. Some of the staff is great and some not so great through the process. I appreciate the fact Dr. Sanders was willing to listen to my concerns about which antibiotic would work best after doing my own research after my turtle was not getting better after many different attempts using different antibiotics. 5 star rating because at the end of the day all I wanted was my turtle to get better and that is the end result. I recommend Wildwood. Read Less

Hi all, I would for sure recommend Wildwood Vet Hospital, especially if you have a bird!! When I had my sweet Budgie, Olie, I had a cage that unbeknownst to me was toxic. I had come home for lunch one day to find my baby at the bottom of her cage.  Also saw paint chips as she apparently chewed on the bars of the cage (which most birds do.) I immediately started calling vet's! Most did not specialize in bird care, and the others were away at some convention that was going on. This one place whose Vet was at the convention, their receptionist referred me to Wildwood Vet Hospital. I called and they had me come in right away! I had the good fortune of meeting Dr. Chris! He specializes in birds! He took in my baby for treatments. I was able to come and visit with her. He saved her life!! Later she had gotten sick with Cancer by her tail region. Chris to the rescue. He was able to prolong her life by amputating her tail. She did end up passing in 2008. But I would not want anyone working with her other than Dr. Chris! After allowing my heartbreak heal to the point of looking into getting another bird... As of December 2014, I now have another sweet baby. I have a baby Yellow Sided Green Cheek Conure. I'm so blessed as I requested Dr. Chris to be his Doctor. Dr. Chris was so kind, and is his Doctor! The staff is wonderful as they all truly have a sincere love of birds as they all have several! Some of the staff also have reptiles. Again, Yes!! I would whole heartedly recommend Wildwood Vet Hospital!! They are now located in Redwood City, and is much easier to get to. By the way... Make sure to get a Powder Coated Cage for your bird(s). I went with the Powder Coated Avian Adventure Flight Cage. Read Less

I had gotten a ball python on Black Friday last year and searched all over to find a reptile vet near me. I was lucky enough to have Wildwood only 10 minutes away from my house! My ball python, Zmeya, was the first reptile if ever gotten and despite my weeks of research before actually getting a snake, I still had a lot to learn from Dr. Peak. She was very informative and I was super grateful for all of her wonderful advice! The receptionist was also super nice and right away offered to put my snake on a heating pad while we waited(it was rainy outside and it made the waiting area pretty chilly). I simply cannot state just how wonderful Wildwood is! It's THE BEST place for exotics in N. CA! For 20 years I've been bringing birds and now my precious Mooshy, my guinea pig. Dr. Welsh and Dr. Sanders spend the time with you and really know about exotics! While I feel bad when my babies are not feeling good, I do look forward to seeing Dr. Welsh and having wonderful conversations about birds and guinea pigs (what I know best in the pet world). Many vets claim they see exotics or what they call small animals but seeing a handful a year is NOT experience. The information I've heard from such vets makes me both laugh and cry! Thank God for Dr. Welsh & Dr. Sanders. Finding an experienced, knowledgeable caring, loving EXOTIC vet is like finding a needle in the haystack. There is a reason why I've taken all my exotics to Wildwood for 20 years.... :)Read Less
