I am currently online looking for a new vet and got excited when I saw a vet with so many reviews and 5 stars. To my dismay this is the vet that I am leaving. Why am I leaving? € Unknowledgable staff who take the easiest way for them not the best way for my dog. I had a 12 year old golden retriever with a tumor near his paw and they wanted to take his whole leg off! We got him in with another vet who was able to give him doggie chemo and remove just the tumor, leaving him foot in tact. Who the f tries to take a dog's leg off without exploring other options? Especially when it's a perfectly healthy 12 year old who's quality of life would've been lost. € Rude / insensitive staff. I have had the misfortune of bringing my two 14 year old boys in because it was their time. The first time I brought my border collie in the lady did nothing but harass my mother and I who were being made sick over this time coming for months. We took our dog with us and to an emergency vet who would let our family peacefully lay our baby to rest. The second time I brought in my 14 year old golden (same dog as the 12 year old prior) and was assured the wicked witch of the vet would be gone. I shouldn't be surprised but this experience was no better. It was emotionless, money-oriented, and disgusting. There was no apology, no love, just a cold needle and our being forced to step over our dead dogs body to leave. € Money-driven: Everything is money first, my pet second. So I am happily leaving. And if you are searching for a vet online like I am, don't be fooled. I have yet to meet a staff member who cares about my dogs or delivers professional service. I should've left day one. Read Less

My little dog Ruby was extremely sick after eating a large piece of pork fat. She was coughing, very lethargic, wouldn't eat or drink, and just shook.  After trying to get in with my regular vet, who couldn't see her, I called three other vets in the area, who also couldn't see her. After reading yelp reviews, I contacted Poway Animal Hospital and was pleased that the person (Dori) answering the phone was extremely nice and wanted to help me.  She got me an appointment right away and I was extremely lucky to see Dr. Shinzaki.  Dr. Shinzaki was very kind and thoroughly examined Ruby and took blood samples to rule out pancreatitis.  The next day Ruby was worse so I contacted Poway Animal Hospital again and was able to get an immediate appointment. Dr. Shinzaki x-rayed her and showed me that he believed she had a foreign object stuck in her esophagus. He referred me to VSH for a scope, called over there to get her in right away, she was scoped and the pork was removed. He even called the day after to check on Ruby. This place is amazing. I will transfer all vet care for both of my dogs to Poway Animal Hospital! Read Less

Dr. Shinzaki has been my dog's vet for 12 years.  He, his staff have provided excellent care to my dog from the first day we walked through the door when my little guy was about five months old.  They are caring, loving, and most of all they understand how important my dog is to me.  They always keep me completely informed on any procedure they are performing while it's happening with text updates.  I trust them completely.  On the rare occasion Dr. Shinzaki is not available, Dr. Smith has provided the same level of care.  I have referred friends and family to this veterinary office.  If you are looking for a vet, this is the place. So I just had my first visit with my 2nd pup. I really can't find anything to complain about. It's a small cozy clinic. I was able to get an appointment via email communication and pretty promptly. I found them via a list that the rescue center provided me. So my new pup had a free exam and with a clean bill of health! The people were all pretty nice. I had both dogs get their nails trimmed while there and they both came back with wagging tails! I plan on going there again, I just hope the next visit is just as good! This was our first visit to PAH.  We were referred both by a close friend and Helen Woodward. When we got our newest adoptee we decided it was an appropriate time to switch vetsWe were greeted immediately by staff and had a short wait to see the vet in a clean and light filled area. Dr George greeted my rather apprehensive dog with a gentle demeanor and dog biscuit.  He got down to William's level quietly performing his checks.  He made sure the pace was ok for our pup.  He discussed all his findings,making suggestions and answered all my questions. I have been taking my 5 year old doberman here to see Dr. Smith since he was a puppy.  I absolutely love Dr. Smith - he always takes the time to listen to and address all my concerns, no matter how minor.  I have also been able to email him pictures/video of my dog with my questions and he always calls back or responds reasonably quickly (obviously he  has to see other patients or may not be in the office that day). If it's more urgent, I would call the front office and they will usually advise you or put you in contact with one of the vets.I used to take my cat to a different vet simply because of distance. Everything was fine until she started sneezing a lot, oftentimes with a lot of colored discharge.  After multiple months and different antibiotic treatments, she was still getting worse, and I got the feeling that the other vet was just jerking me around, trying random stuff now.  So I called Dr. Smith for another opinion and gave him her full history.  We spoke on the phone for a long time and he said that he thought it could be some sort of tooth infection, which could affect the sinuses - something the other guy had never mentioned before. So I took her in the morning, and that same day, they put her under anesthesia and sure enough, she had two broken teeth that had gotten infected.  She has been doing great since! Another time, when my dog was young, he had gotten this weird growth on his abdomen.  All the vets were baffled as to what it could be and instead of taking shots in the dark, they actually referred me to a specialist.  Unfortunately, even the specialists never figured out what the heck was going on with my dog, it just slowly went away on its own.  But the point is, these vets won't just take your money and try random things until you get frustrated enough to leave or the problem goes away on its own. I have been going to this place for about 16 years and it has always been accommodating and special to my dogs and me. The staff is always friendly and very helpful at any time you might need to talk to them, either in person or on the phone. The doctors are fantastic also. Dr. Smith is my mini Aussie's, (Ozzie), doctor. He's got an amazing way of making him feel comfortable, due to his, (Dr. Smith), calming nature. They also have a great after hours system. At Poway Animal we have the exact same level of care (actually it's even better!) but without the steep charges. They are so reasonable and every staff member is so helpful and kind. This place will pinch you. After our first initial visit to this place with our cat. I told my wife i thought that their charges were unusually high. Well she took our cat in for a second shot. After they weighed the 10 Week kitty and weighed him they gave the shot. OK lets checkout. Uh that will be $80 and some change please. Uh say what? The shot was like 32 and even that was a bit high. But hey lets make it an office visit for the wieghing and the heartbeat? Tap on another 48 what the heck. Thats the last time they will see our business. Sorry their just out for your money! I would give a -10 but you are forced to give at least 1 star to warn people about this vet. This place is such a bad place to go. I know many who have been and will never return. Their office manager is a cold woman who is only interested in the money and don't even ask about cost or she will shame you for putting a price on your pet! ""Dr. Shinzaki"" can't even keep his record and memory straight when you try to go to another vet and get your records. When our new vet called to clarify a ""strange"" entry in the chart notes, he couldn't even recall the pet that he saw that morning nor could he read his own chart after he pulled it out to refer to. When they are reported to the vet board, they lie about you and try to make you out to be the bad guy. Also a common issue with them is they refuse to write a prescription so you can have it filled for less somewhere else. They force you to fill it there and pay their inflated prices. This place isn't even on the list of vets that are recommended by the local ER vet hospitals. That speaks volumes! Read Less

My Tv went out after 4 years of owning it. i called poway tv and had a tech come out on the weekend. he was able to give me a reasonable quote and repair my TV at the same time. he brought the correct aprts with him. i reccomend them to anyone in san diego. they come to you and do the repais in home. i live in san marcos and they came to my home. thank you Poway TV.A+++ Read Less
