Dr. Gordon is the best! All of the staff at HVVH are friendly and helpful. Let's face it, vet visits aren't cheap, but neither are doctors appointments for us and our pets are part of our families and deserve to be cared for the same as any other family member. The office and clinic is small, but it's always clean and there's a really nice outdoor area if you'd prefer to wait outside. I've gone here for about 20 years now and always recommend them if you are looking for a compassionate, helpful and knowledgeable team to make your primary physician for your pet! Read Less

Best vet I've ever taken my dog Dozer to. They are honest, compassionate and truly care about the well being of my dog. He had to have oral surgery to extract 3 teeth and they took excellent care of him. Other vets have made me feel uneasy about leaving my dog in their care & have needlessly inflated estimates while suggesting painful and unnecessary treatments for things that eventually my dog got over on his own. I absolutely love this place! They are always friendly and professional. They are amazing. I'm very careful when choosing vets as They will have my fur babies and it's important to me that they are reasonably price. This place not only has reasonable pricing but they take good care of my dogs. I took my pup in when she got a gash on her leg, they stitched her up and sent us home with some meds, she healed perfectly, and acts like nothing ever happened. This vet is OK sometimes. Some of the staff are nice but I have definitely experienced staff here who are less than compassionate. They totally butchered one of my dogs nails and made him bleed. This was a 2-3 years ago and he still won't let us touch his paws anymore. I get that it happens but they were rude about it (blaming my dog) and still charged full price. I will only take my dogs here for super simple things like shots if I have to. I will no longer get anything invasive done here because I found a way better vet in Sorrento Valley. High Valley also charges way more than anywhere I've ever seen while providing sub-par service. You go in for one thing and all of a sudden they're recommending tons of unnecessary, unrelated tests at a high price. They always take us late every time (like almost an hour late). The facility isn't that great either. I think there's only one or two exam rooms and the whole place is very small and outdated. It can get uncomfortable when there are a lot of people waiting with their pets because this place is tiny. My dogs are always very uncomfortable here. Obviously all dogs hate the vet but I have found that they are much more comfortable at other facilities. We had a senior dog put down here years ago and they charge extra for you to go in the room and be with your dog. Seriously?? That's absurd. I thought maybe that was the norm but it's not. Other places don't do that. They will charge you for absolutely everything they can here. 2 stars is extremely generous and it's only because there are some very caring staff members here. I was new to Ramona, looking for a vet to do my 11 year old dog's monthly anal gland expression as well as periodic nail trims. I had come in twice, but on the third time she also had her nails trimmed. When they brought my small dog out to me, they had a lead around her neck, pulling her (she doesn't know how to walk properly with something around her neck) and her eyes were completely bloodshot and she was panting.  I asked the tech why they did this, clearly she was in distress, couldn't you loop the lead through the harness? I was told it's just the way things are done, so no. Today I brought my dog to her vet that I gave had since she was a puppy, about 30 miles away from Ramona. I asked her to do the usual and also nail, blood work, exam.  She told me when she took her in back, she freaked out which was never normal for her. She peed and pooped as well, that never happened before. I do believe High Valley was really rough on my dog, possibly abusive and I won't be taking her here again. My gut was right when I left there last time, there are really some bad vet techs there. BEWARE! Read Less

Had to take my cat Aslan in found High Valley Vet on line (family has not been in Ramona long) I must say I am very pleased with the Vets and staff here. The Dr did everything they could to save my cat. Unfortunately they were unable to. Every staff there was very compassionate. This is my new favorite place to bring my fur babies. Read Less

Great front desk service, and thorough and professional care for my pup. My older lab wasn't feeling well, and they were able to fit me into a last-minute appointment on a Saturday. Unfortunately, the news was not good for my furry best friend, but the folks here were great in a tough circumstance. The office seems to run smoothly and professionally, and everything was explained well, up front - including an accurate estimate for the charges to run some X-rays and laboratory tests.Oh, and its very convenient that they also take Apple Pay. :) Read Less

Wonder people. They have been my vet for 10 years. Dr.s Beth Gordon & Lynn Savage and their staff have been there when my animals needed them. My Beau recently passed at home of old age and they made a donation "Companion Animal Memorial Fund" in his name. I can't imagine using anyone else. I never have had any problem getting an appointment and their prices are reasonable. My dogs' insurance covered all of the procedures on a recent eyelid and foxtail episode. So! 2/25/16 I got a phone call from my dad that my dog of 14 years, was unable to get up & walk using his back legs... I knew what I needed to do. I didn't go to work but headed straight to Ramona. I assessed my dog, as I was his for 14 years, I knew if he would be ok or not... But he wasn't gonna be ok. So, at 4:30 that afternoon me, my ENTIRE family & my beautiful dog, piled into High Valley for the last few moments with my WillieG. I was a mess. Trainwreck. Disaster. But every girl in that office treated me, my family & MOST IMPORTANTLY my dog, with respect & compassion. The Vet, Dr M., came in, she explained everything to me with patience and grace. I still, was a mess. By 5:05 that afternoon my baby boy was in heavens way. THANK YOU ALL AT HIGH VALLEY FOR THE EXCELLENT CARE, COMPASSION & RESPECT YOU SHOWED US ON THAT THURSDAY. I have been here multiple times for my dog Shadow and each time it has been a fantastic experience. Recently I had my dogs teeth cleaned for the first time and I am amazed at the results. Not only are my pups teeth as clean as they were as a puppy, they called me during the procedure to give me updates. High Valley Veterinarian Hospital is the only place I will take my pets too. We had used other vets up here in the past and nothing compares to Dr. Gordon and the staff at High Valley. Once we took our pups there we've never been anywhere else. They are very knowledgeable and truly care about all the animals brought into their office. They don't try to sell you on unnecessary things, they just give your pet the most excellent care possible. Their prices are affordable. Let me say first that This is the first bad review I've written on anything, I don't like taking the time to write negative things but I felt compelled with this place. Now the story: I'll try to keep it short.I got a new puppy from a family friend and decided to buy into pet insurance to be on the safe side. I took my puppy here in order to have a general exam done along with her puppy shots to send off to the insurance company. In the notes on the general exam the vet wrote that she was a pure bred (which she is very clearly not) and not a crossbreed or mix thus when the insurance saw this they gave me a month to have it corrected by just sending them some sort of document from the vet stating she was not pure bred, or my rates would increase. After I and my parents (who's dogs also WENT here) went in circles with the vet trying to get this corrected, they in the end refused to do anything about it. According to them she looked like a pure bred. So I decided to get her files and have another exam done at a different clinic to help resolve this issue. When going over her files the new clinic pointed out they didn't have any paper work on her second set of shots. So I went back to this place to get them and they had no record of them in their computer, I than requested them to check her file and there it was. They only had a hand written paper of her second shots that were not entered into their system. So this is why I will never take another animal here. Not only are they terrible unorganized but they also won't help with any matters involving your pet out side their clinic even if they created them. I wish I could have written a nice thing like the rest of these reviews but I simply can't say anything good about them. I haven't had to take my dogs to the Vet in several years, but went back to High Valley the first week of March 2014 with my 2 dogs for routine shots and exams. I felt pressured into extra service and left with estimates. I got a call several days later by someone in the office urging me to get the teeth cleaning done on one of my dogs. I told her I thought the estimate was high for a 17lb dog ($517-$750, including x-rays) as I already paid the $139 for the necessary blood work. I called another Vet in Ramona and one in Escondido and got their charges on each individual charge line by line that I had on my estimate. High Valley was over a third higher in price than both of them, so I will be switching Vets since they  have really good ratings too. As far as the care and the staff at High Valley, I was very happy with them . I remember several years ago that they were priced more reasonably. Read Less

Our experience at High Valley Vet Hospital made a bad situation a lot more comfortable. We had our small dog Troy who had been seeing a heart specialist in north county. Troy had a bad turn during the evening and was in distress in the morning and the specialist didn't open till 10am. I had never been to High Valley Vet as I was new to Ramona but called them and said I thought I might have to put our little Troy to sleep as he was elderly and the heart condition was chronic and progressive. Despite the fact I didn't have an appointment, they said to come right in. We didn't sit in the waiting room more than 5 minutes and the vet's assistant Stacy was so wonderful, compassionate and kind. The vet we saw, Dr. Wendy Lipman, was equally compassionate and was very patient and spent time with us as we struggled with the horrible decision of whether to put our beloved pet to sleep. She answered all our questions and guided us to make a decision so we weren't left feeling guilt and regret afterwards. Despite the pain, we knew Troy would be spared future pain and struggle. Both Stacy and Dr. Lipman helped make a terrible event feel warm and caring. Troy was given time, attention and love from them and his last little breath was witnessed by us and staff who cared. Grate place!!! We've only been liven in Ramona for 2 years and our old vet was in the college area . We where very reluctant to use a new vet . Our pats are our children . They mean the world to us . So when we took one of our dogs to here we where concerned . But after meeting the staff and dealing with them we felt better and at ease . And when we called to check in on how our dog was doin the doctor actually got on the phone with us and was very open and attentive to us . I have been using High Valley Vet almost since moving to Ramona in 2003.  Not only do I have several dogs, but I also run the Southern California Vizsla Rescue.  Dr. Gordon is honest, caring, and gives you options considering the costs.  In Rescue, the costs are critical to being able to help the next rescue that comes along.  Most of us have run into those vets where you feel like you just opened your checkbook.  I have NEVER felt that way here.  She and her staff really care about the animals they are serving.  I have been in there for everything from a neutering, to a foxtail up the nose, to a rescue that had severe mental issues (the best way I can describe her) and was unpredictable and biting.  She has always been compassionate about the care of the dogs, and even when we had to put down an animal.I trust Dr. Gordon with the health and well being of my own dogs.  Anyone who knows me, knows that my dogs are family to me.  They get the best and Dr. Gordon is the best vet I have found (even down the hill!) Absolutely totally inept Dr. and staff at this clinic. We have requested x-rays for the last week and they cant seem to figure out "that whole email" thing. I would never, ever recommend visiting this clinic. After talking to other neighbors they too had the same experience. "They did not seem to know what they were doing'. After charging us for x-rays, for a Dr. to actually read the x-rays, etc. I had to tell the Dr. to send my wife home with antibiotics. The Dr's response "i was trying to save you money". The antibiotics were $13/ and the lowest thing on our bill by far. Skip these guys and head down the hill. Horrible experience Read Less
