A bit pricey. The vet recommended my cat to have dental cleaning, but it's a lot of money out of pocket. So I decided to get pet insurance and do a wellness plan in Bandfield Animal Hospital to save money on vet visits and dental cleanings. However, I was very satisfied with how the vet assessed my cat. She was very thorough and really took her time answering my questions and assuring me. She treated my cat well and he seemed to like her. Services are amazing, just not a fan of the money I'll have to pay out of pocket if I bring my cat here every year. Read Less

Wonderful people at this hospital. I am afraid of dogs so going to other pet hospitals is really stressful for me. My cat was very sick and I didn't want to make it worse for him by having my stress picked up by him. I ended up having to put my best friend of 14 years down and it broke my heart. The doctor was very sweet and didn't rush me. The staff was also just as great.Just hearing the words " your doing the right thing" meant everything to me. What an absolutely wonderful hospital! Dr. Lumsden was incredible and very patient and kind.The hospital is small and has a very personal touch.The Dr. was able to take us back and actually show us the living parasite in the microscope and went to a lot of time and effort (on her day off) to figure out the best course of action for our cat and her treatment plan.All of our cats will come here from now on.The bill was exceedingly reasonable - like less than a third of what our bills have been from previous vet visits - and this was the only hospital to actually figure out what was wrong with her.Highly recommended!!! I had found a stray cat and thought that since this was a cat Veterinary Hospital that they might have some resources but when I called to ask a few questions the girl was acting very annoyed with my phone call and there was a lot of silence after I asked a question so I gave up and said goodbye she seemed happy to say goodbye though...I was new to Riverside at that time and was considering taking my cats there until this phone call...probably a blessing in disguise!Also, I am not sure why some people feel the negative reviews are funny when I can't see how anyone would interpret them as funny over people's hurt and hard times...seems strange to me...especially since you can't see who rates each post, it does makes you wonder who these people are and what is their relationship to this place Read Less

I can't say enough kind words about Riverside Cat Hospital. Our regular vet retired and we aren't happy with his replacement. Before we found a new place, one of our cats got sick. I called Riverside Cat Hospital yesterday, late afternoon, and they agreed to see her first thing this morning. In the interim, another one of our cats seemed to be getting as sick as she was. I called this morning and without hesitation they said bring him too. The staff was so warm and accommodating. The doctor was knowledgeable and nice, spending a good deal of time with us. Well what can I say.  Love, Love Love this place.  OMGOSH, I needed to find another place to take my Lil love bug Safari my 2 year old Calico who saved my  life.  She found me by sleeping in my planter when she was about 6mos old.  She is very skiddish to any other human except me and my husband.  From the moment we walked in with Safari I knew we were at the right place.  Vanessa back office was so gentle with her and put Safari at ease from the start.  Dawn at the front desk was soooooo understanding and wonderful.  Then when the Doc walked in my husband and I thought we had died and went to heaven.  She was just fabulous and knows her stuff.  We also got Safari a lion cut and they did it better then the groomer. I would have to say I look for a veterinarian that was all cat care and I found this place. When I first took my my cat Chako for a checkup he was diagnosed with kidney failure. So far I spent quite a bit of money with this Clinic, had his teeth pulled, had test done and so far right now I think he's doing okay.But their prices are definitely high with no discounts for seniors (or those on limited income). Dr. Gallegos has been kind, considerate and caring.  The staff also are kind and considerate. But the distance is a little to far and the office visit costs are too high for me. I love Riverside Cat Hospital and cannot say enough good about everyone there! They showed my kitty so much caring and compassion. They showed so much attention to detail that it really made me feel they cared. Everything from how they treated my cat, petting her as they talked to me, speaking softly to her as they examined her, wrapped her in a towel and cuddled her as they treated her and brought her to and from the room was just sweet. Both doctors were very positive but honest about treatment options and the reality of the situation with my cat. Although the health of my cat was my priority, I appreciated that they laid out all costs for my consent before treatment. They updated me regularly while she was with them, and called me to check on her while she was with me. All the staff and doctors were caring to my cat and also comforting to me. I had to put her to sleep but it was as good as it could be because of the compassion they showed, the caring manner that they treated her, and just the way they handled the entire process at the end. My husband and I have been taking our cats to Riverside Cat Hospital since approximately 2002.  Dr. Lumsden has always been the best.  Now she is semi-retired.  We really were quite hesitant about seeing the new owner, however, we have been extremely impressed.  Dr. Leigh is caring and patient.  We are currently undergoing a medical problem with our cat, Missy, and the doctor has put in extra time and research towards solving our situation.  We are thankful for the genuine caring of the doctors and the great staff.  We highly recommend Riverside Cat Hospital.  Your cats will be well-cared for. Best vet. I ever had. Cat was itching and scratching itself. Looked for fleas, none. Other vets claimed various other ailments. THIS Dr. Has a thing for fleas. Insisted it was fleas, and an allergy to them. Gave a steroid shot, and a 6 month flea collar. Cats hair grew back, stoped scratching, gained weight, Dr. Is Brilliant. An A + for their work. They are so unprofessional and it is sad. Dr. Lumsden is extremely experienced and a great vet but the staff is unbelievably rude. They lost our business once for being rude and Dr. Lumsden called us and asked why we were no longer coming in and we told her, she said she wished we had told her sooner. We noticed one of our male cats had some blood in his urine, they could not get him in, however we were told to call at 9:00 a.m. the next day and that they would work us in between surgeries. When I called the first thing I was met with an attitude and that they had an emergency and that the cat had probably been poisoned. I feel for that cat and its owners and really hope that it will be okay. That does not change the fact that I was told that my cat would be worked in today, he needs to be seen by a Vet. I was then told that my cat probably wouldn't be able to be seen.  I asked her if I should bring my cat in as an emergency and she told me very snottily that if I thought my cat had a real emergency I should take him to an emergency Vet. So much for giving them a second chance. My cat is not important enough to be seen. They cannot be trusted to keep their word that they will see your cat. Oh and by the way the day before I was told I could ALWAYS bring in my cat if there was an emergency. Read Less

About 5 years I had a beautiful cat.  Took him to Riverside Cat Hospital, they pulled his baby teeth before it was necessary.  He had food allergies, he ended up passing away anyway.  They took , $1500.00 of my money over a series of visits.  The passed about 4 years ago, I was happy not to deal with these people again.  Now I am getting e-mails from them wanting to set up an appointment with the "Dr" for dental work and other things.  It will not allow me to cancel the e-mail subscription.   I haven't received any e-mails for 4 years and all of a sudden they want to offer appointments.Stupid people, bad vets, and overcharging the public. This was our first time taking our black maine coon kitty. The doctors were very nice and cared for our little Ghost kitty. He got clip and clean, the fabulous doctors did it in just a few minutes. I took in my cat today, Dr. Gallegos is the best Vet I have ever met. The staff and assistant were awesome. After thoroughly examining my cat together we came up with the best care options. Never was I pressured to pay or order test. Unfortunatly we are not 100% sure what is wrong with my baby but they worked with me and my situation. You would think that people who work in their field would actually care about animals. So much for that assumption. I've brought my cat here before and had decent experiences, but one time I was walking my dog and it was pretty hot outside, he'd already gone through a 16 ounce water bottle and was thirsty again. I walked by here, thinking "well, they can fill his cup for him." (Note: I did not bring my dog inside or around the cats.) It wasn't busy at all, and I explained that my dog and I had been walking for quite some time and he was very thirsty and asked if one of the ladies could fill his cup from the bathroom faucet. She responds "No, sorry." With no explaination.Really? Shows how much you care about animals...Will never bring my cat here again. Read Less

Dr Lewis and her team are great. They truly care about my cats well being. Both of my cats over the six years I have lived in the area have needed life saving treatment that Dr. Lewis provided. They took such good care of both of my fur kids. I am so thankful to have a cat only hospital to bring my cats to. You can tell they have educated themselves on how to make the visit to the vet easier for your cat. My first cat was diagnosed with allergies to food after scratching all his fur off of areas of his body, and later required a blood transfusion, which we were referred to MSU to have done, because he developed hemolytic anemia. My other cat was diagnosed with urolithiasis and a complete urethral blockage. They were able to care for him and make him comfortable while trying different treatments. I just had an appt. here & had to write about it. I never get excited about going to the vet. does anyone? but I took my cat who has been suffering big time with itchy skin. Her ears have been bloody from her own scratching and even has developed a bald spot on her back. Something was bothering her badly. I took her to Riverside today, first time there. The Dr. knew right away what it was, gave us an antibiotic in case of infection, recommeded some food which the cat loves already, and cleaned up the itchy spots. The best place for cats! It is certified cat friendly. I didn't even know such a certification existed but of course any true cat lover would want that for their cats. They have saved my cats many times, prices are reasonable, and the vets are so knowledgable. My cat had a foxtail stuck in her eye that I just couldn't get out. I was really concerned that it could lead to an infection. They got it out no problem and the whole ugly incident has been forgotten by all. Thank you!! Read Less

My daughter found a very sick kitten on her way home from school last year. She was in love with the tiny thing. There was no way my husband or I could convince her to give it up. Well, it was in a sad state--fleas, dirty, scratched up, and its eyes weren't even open yet. My husband took the kitty to Riverside and the vets were amazing. They got the kitten cleaned up, examined, and on a special diet. I'm amazed she survived...and even more amazed that we are now living with this huge, fluffy cat. This is a wonderful place to take your cat. It is cats only, so you don't have to worry about smells or noises from dogs adding to your cat's stress when you take them there. The clinic is adorable-- there are cat books and decorations everywhere. It is my understanding they are mostly gifts from grateful clients. The staff are so caring and gentle.
