Vetco

Riverside, California
General Info
Vetco in Riverside implements veterinary services at a gradual pace that aligns with each pet's sensory processing and routine adjustments to accommodate California households. The beginning of the visit sees animals permitted to move into the space according to their individual timing. The staff meticulously observes their movement patterns through the space while recording settling times and identifying which sensory cues—touch, sound, scent—elicit the strongest responses. Examinations encompass comprehensive assessments of hydration levels, skin elasticity, limb range, dental condition, coat health, and weight balance while incorporating intricate discussions about recent sleep changes and feeding rhythms along with household energy shifts. Vetco delivers a range of services including vaccinations, bloodwork, mobility care, dental planning, preventive guidance, surgical support and long-term care discussions. The provision of services occurs either step-by-step or as a complete package depending on the sensory preferences of the pet. Certain families implement care through numerous brief visits whereas others opt for singular focused appointments complemented by post-care resources. Each plan develops based on the family's execution capacity which includes caregiver emotional load pet resilience transportation access and household scheduling patterns. Appointments include space for questions side notes and story-sharing especially helpful for new adopters or those managing chronic conditions. Vetco assists pet families throughout Riverside and nearby California regions to integrate care into their daily lives as a natural rhythm instead of a fearful obligation, thereby fostering connections and sustainable wellness practices.

Im not sure how dramatic this person is being with their comments about Dr Moraes, but I have only positive things to say about the Vetco staff and the doctor. My previous vet moved out of town, so I started doing research for my 13 year old terroir mix. He had problems with his teeth and I knew he needed attention (thought maybe an abscess). He seemed to be in pain.  He also had some bloating in his stomach, but I had no idea how serious that could be until doing some reading. I called at 8:00 am when they opened and they agreed to see my little guy at 11:00 (vet had a previously scheduled surgery). The receptionist was a little curt, but turned out to be very nice. They checked him out and at my request immediately gave him a shot to help alleviate some pain (we gad a rough night).  She checked his teeth of course but also did further examination. After listening to his heart and other areas, asked if I was aware that he had a heart murmur.  I noticed that morning while holding him that his heart seemed to be beating too fast.  She then explained that he had some pretty serious problems, such as atrial fibulation and some leakage from the heart valves. His bloating in the stomach was all fluid build up.  He had congestive heart failure.  I am currently going through some of the very same issues (& more) with a family member I care for.  As soon as she started explaining, I realized she was 100% correct, as I have recently spent a great deal of time consulting with cardiologist and cardio thoracic surgeons.  It all made sense and the other symptoms I failed to recognize all rushed through my mind.  She was dead on and my poor baby was probably suffering so much more than I even realized.  They are like humans in more ways than you can imagine. They just can't tell us what they feel. She offered to do more tests to confirm everything 100%, but I knew she was right and it would not be fair to him to even try and treat it at his age. He would suffer more and eventually die.  ALL three of the staff members were AWESOME.  The doctor and vet tech could not have shown more compassion and care for my pup, as well as myself and my two daughters that were of course crying our eyes out, knowing we needed to put him to sleep.  They put in a catheter and brought him right back to us, where he laid on his little blanket to go to sleep while we held him.  They gave him medicine so that he would start to relax and sleep.  They gave him the sodium pentathol only when he was almost completely asleep.  They let us stay with him until we were ready to go.  This was an extremely difficult situation and they were fantastic. I will be taking ALL of my dogs here from now on. Read Less

I would give this place a "zero" star rating if I could. I recently found a very pretty and sweet stray cat after coming back from thanksgiving holiday. The kitty seemed like a house cat (by her interaction with other human), so while I was waiting that she might go back home or her owner will take her...at the meantime I also started calling many no-kill shelters and other rescues to accept her. Luckily, after trying infinite calls, I found a rescue that would take her. So I took her to vetco to check if she is chipped, spayed, and other tests...the regular vet was off that day and there was this guy from San Daigo, he and the male nurse told me the kitty is very pregnant and she is about to have her babies in about two weeks. They want me to spay her (as well as to take away the babies) for $358!!!! Long story short, the kitty now is happily at the rescue. I also keep in touch with the rescue, and apparently the cat is absolutely NOT pregnant. I could have been ripped off that $358 if I did what they told me to....I feel sad since both my two cats comes here regularly for check ups...etc, now I have to find a new vet sine I totally lose my trust to this place Read Less

Not that fastest service around but the price is worth it. This place is a hospital opened by petco that offers the basic services that any hospital would. I only come here for vaccinations because its cheaper than going to my regular vet and having to pay for both seeing the doctor and vaccinations. Shots are expensive enough as it is especially when you have more than one canine to pay for. I don't think I would go here for anything else though, but I really can't say because I have never tried any other services. The place itself: a simple little hospital decorated with a busy fish tank and random posters and decorations here and there. Nothing too special. The staff: I believe the staff is all women, or that's so far that I've seen, who obviously love animals/pets because they couldn't stop gushing at both my new puppy and my 5 year old golden retriever. They were all super friendly and treated my pets with care. But sadly, there is a "but". I docked of one star for this place because the receptionist, though very friendly, seemed too lazy to get up from her seat to help with anything or thinks she runs the place so she can speak to a customer whenever she wanted. I'm not asking them to have vip treatment and a red carpet waiting for me but when a customer comes through the door and you are already in the middle of something (which was not a conversation) you should at least greet the customer with a smile and ask them to wait a few moments. I was actually questioning myself at one point if she even saw us come in at all. No eye contact with this receptionist until about 30 seconds standing at the desk. And not even a smile. Plus, when she asked for my dogs to be weighed on the scale, she saw me struggling with the two dogs and everything else i was holding. I got the feeling that she was just enjoying watching me suffer and embarrassed.  I'm really not asking for much but she just stared at me like I was some dimwit and didn't even bother to help with anything. And she took her sweet time to fill out the information. People have time schedules and a life you know. The service: excluding the receptionist, all the other nurses were really friendly, even though they spent every second on how cute the dogs were and instead of greeting the customers. The dogs were taken to the back for their shots and it was a quick and easy process. Now I'm starting to think they are working there because they want to see cute puppies everyday. Just say they're cute and a few baby noises and stop but don't do it for the entire ten minutes I was filling out paper work.I just come here for the shots because it's cheaper than an actual vet and its the closest and most convenient to where I go to school (ucr) oh and plus, they always have coupons for free rabies shots, 50% off doctor's exam/visit, and 25% off dental cleaning.
