Read the reviews before I called and they are correct customer service there is horrible. The receptionist wouldn't let me finishing asking my questions she kept interrupting me. If you want to come here, you have to be ready to wait. It's not a big deal, you'd wait to take your kids to the doctor, same should apply to your pets.We were referred here by our doberman breeder. He recommended Dr Butchko for the ear crop and said he's the best. And he is. He did a great job with both our dobies' ears and I recommend him to everyone who asks about ear cropping.The staff has always been very friendly and helpful. They showed us how to hold our little guy so we could post his ears after the first time they did it, and it worked great.We live in Simi Valley so it's quite the drive for us but I wouldn't take my dogs anywhere else unless it was an emergency. We've had to bring our pups in a few times and we're always greeted with a smile. We wait a long time but with their prices and quality service, we don't mind.We've seen Dr Means for a corneal ulcer, she was great while treating my boy. And we recently saw Dr Stevens for some dry eyes and chin bumps for my girl. We came in for a follow up (free of charge) on Saturday and I had a simple question about some swelling. Dr Stevens explained everything so thoroughly, I was impressed! I had no idea what a false pregnancy was before.This is a great office, we drive almost 2 hours (and another 2 hours back home) to come to this office and will keep doing so. 5 stars for our awesome vet. 1 star for customer service. The people at the front will just stare at you countless times without saying hello or even acknowledging that you most likely need to be checked in. It took 15 mins for me to get checked in and I was the only person waiting to be checked in. I only put up with the awful customer service because I like the vets. Read Less

If I could give 0 stars i would. I didn't even habe to go in to see the rude customer service. I called to see about prices for going in and asked if i need an appointment and had a few more questions but the rude lady would NOT even let me finish talking before she continued to cut me off at everything thing I said. We had a little chihuahua that we rescued on Canal Blvd. in Rubidoux last year. She had a huge mass on her stomach, but she was not in pain, so we took care of her for a year or so. When she lost control of her bladder, we knew it was time. She did not even weigh 5 lbs. The mass was almost as big as her. Anyway, when they tried to euthanize her, they couldn't find the vein. They had three technicians in there. They just poked and poked. I felt sick to my stomach and had to leave the room, lest I throw up. I know she suffered. I am LIVID at this place. I have to say that the first visit I had here was great; I met quite a few clients that were waiting. The wait wasn't bad because they were about to close and wanted out of there. Every time after that has grown more and more irritating. I'm in the process of giving my dog her shots. I don't know how I could go in there and wait for over an hour just to watch EVERYONE after I get called in first. It does not take that long for a shot, so I have no idea why everyone is getting helped first. After over an hour and half of waiting each time, they call me in and give her a shot that takes literally two minutes. Then they make you wait another ten minutes or so to pay before you can leave. I figured I can last one more shot and then find a better vet. Like one person mentioned, they must have a secret handshake I don't know about.Now, this is where it gets bad.I came in because my puppy had diarrhea the last two days. It wasn't like terrible. She had it twice in between normal poops, but I wanted to make sure she was okay or that she didn't get any parasites. Not only that, she has one shot left.I told the woman with reddish brown hair about it. She gave me a disgusted look as I adjusted her in my arms and said, "Don't put her on the table she might be contagious." Well, first that wasn't what I was doing. Second, as a vet, you should be sanitary and clean your tables constantly with how many times you sit puppies on that counter. She then told me that I would have to "wait in the back" or go wait in my car. So I asked which and she told me to go wait in my car. She specifically asks me what my car looks like. I told her the color, the make, the model and the sticker I had on my window. She asked, "Are you paralleled park on the side?" I said yes and that you wouldn't miss me. All you would have to do is walk out and see my car right there.Mind you, last time I was here someone had a dog with the same problem while I waiting for a shot. That dog got to wait in the room openly and it was also seen before me when I was here first. It's a walk in clinic, so shouldn't first come first serve to apply?Literally, the moment I go in my car a car crashes into the pole at the opposite side of me. If it went the other direction, it would have hit my car. So thanks for that. I had to roll up my windows and turn up my air conditioner so she could stay cool. I watched the corner of my window seeing people pass by. I waited for an hour and a half before someone came up to my car and told me that they would see me now. FINALLY. I was literally about to leave, yet I had the courtesy to wait and give them space because they always take this long and they looked a little busy when I came in. Finally, I sit in the back for another fifteen minutes before two girls come out to tell me. "We looked for you everywhere earlier, you didn't answer so we assumed you left. All the doctors are gone so they can't see your dog." I was so livid and confused I didn't even know how to functionally process words.I told her, "I explained where I was parked. I explained what my car looked like and you're telling me you couldn't find me? I even told her she could call me." She was just like, "We sent two guys out there to find you, call your name and nothing. We don't call people on the phone. And there is nothing we can do because there are no doctors, but you can come back tomorrow morning at 8am." I asked for copies of my pup's records and all she had to say was, "Sorry about that." I could have made a scene, but I have no more energy to waste on this place. There are better vets than this and any positive recommendation I got on this place is now down the shithole. To even blame me and then say you sent people out? You must have sent them the wrong way because I hadn't moved. That one guy was able to find me with ease, so why send him then if you couldn't see me?I had class I had to miss for this. Like, is this how you treat your clients? Be thankful you have loyal customers, it's probably just a matter of time before you shit on them too. I can't say anything about the Doctors, but the staff is unprofessional -- the nurses know nothing and are "AWKWARD" -- and this place is dirty. They have poorly written signs to bring your own newspaper for your dog and blankets.  I had to take her to the Arlington 24 hr hospital where they treated her better than this and not like some fungus. Took my Cane Corso pup to get her ears cropped and they look awesome. Just one taping and they are already standing up nicely. After her second taping she should be done and ready to go.  Yes the place is old and extremely busy, but all these reviews of people complaining that it's a total nightmare and to not waste your time didn't deter me. I called other vets closer to me and they were twice as high as the $395 Dr. Butchko charged. The other vet was going to charge almost $800.  The first 3 taping sessions are free and if they need more than that it's $35 afterwards. Or you can buy the tape and powder they use and a free sample of the foam so you can do it yourself at home.  People need to realize this is a walk-in facility only. No appointments are taken at all.  People were coming from Arizona and Texas to have their bulldogs and other breeds worked on by Dr. Butchko. Just go in with the mindset that yes, you probably will spend a majority of your day here.  Not sure what some of these other reviewers expect to get when it's walk-in only and it's an extremely popular vet. If you feel like spending your whole day at the Vet, then definitely come here. Spent 4 hours here today! 4 hours for an eye infection!!! I will never step foot in this very unclean, disgusting, understaffed, unclean bathroom, so called Vet!! It reminds me of one big WELFARE office!! Yuck!! If you're on welfare and food stamps, then you probably don't mind wasting a whole day here! Me, I work hard for a living and have way too much to do in a day than spend my time at this effed up, unorganized entity! I'm so upset I'm not even going to proofread this. Beware! My son's dog needed stitches and they had to put her to sleep to stitch the cut. After the treatment Butchko staff brought the dog back full of poop!!! What happen? They wouldn't clean the dog. The dog was sent home full of poop all over her body, in her ears and even on the stitches. They were so unprofessional and could careless. I have been going to Dr. Butchko now for 13 years.  Today we used their kind and understanding services to put my basset down.  So many times they have exceeded my expectations by the way they care for any of my animals. This was my 2nd time having one of my animals laid to rest.  They will always and forever be my vet of choice. I live in Long Beach and that does not make me think I need to find somewhere closer. I love Dr. Butchko. I've owned 4 English Bulldogs and I always come to him for anything medically related for my dogs. Cherry eye, neutered, hip dysplasia, shots. He and his staff give the most honest straight-forward answers and opinions and not to mention HALF the price any other vet had quoted me. You won't be sorry. He just built a brand new SUPER nice very large building next door to the older one they own and will be moving in soon. Check them out. I have to mention that they are first come, first serve. Drove a few hours because Butchko has many years experience with the breed so I trusted him. I brought reference picture of my previous dog and we went off of that crop style. My pup stayed overnight and I picked him up in the morning. The crop and all after care were covered in the amazing price and I would use him all over again. Plan to get there 40+ minutes before they open as it's first come first served even if you have an appointment date, you still wait, if you don't mind the wait (2+ hours) it's all worth it. I live in Downtown LA but come here because of the long list of people who I know that have been going here for years. Last night (Friday) my beautiful Doberman, my best friend Red was cut (2inch cut on the top of paw). I called numerous Vets in Los Angeles including the first 4 top rated Vets on yelp. They all quoted me $550-600 or $650-700, not only was the price out of my range but they had no time to fit me in till Monday due to him needing stitches and anesthesia. I called Dr. Butcko's office and they told me to come Saturday morning at 8am. They didn't quote me a price prior to coming but I knew from what I had heard that it would be not affordable than the quotes I had got. So we woke up at 5:30am and drove over an hour. Waited 3 hours prior to being seen (the worst part of the visit) but finally got to the Dr and it was so worth it. They were so kind, caring and took such good care of my best friend!! I wouldn't go anywhere else but to the Doctors Butchko for my bulldogs. They provide the expertise and special caring required for this breed, they love my dogs, and my dogs love them. They are great people. Because of the way they triage their animal patients, they are able to charge more reasonable fees than anywhere else I've been. Best care and price I've ever been for vets.
