If I could give zero stars I would. I have been going to this vet for over 20 years with various pets. The last two times I was in the receptionists were extremely rude to me. After this last check in I realized that they were not giving vaccinations or clipping my cat’s nails even though I paid for it. NOW my dogs teeth are falling out. I called the vet and said “that’s normal” and “ we always check them”. This place is awful. I watched the same receptionists treat a young couple absolutely horrific a few months ago. I have a kitten and an older cat that I bring here with my husband and we are a younger couple. Every time we’ve been in, the receptionist is extremely rude to us. Last time we were here we were running late so prior to our appointment time we called to let them know that we were going to be a few minutes late. When we arrived the lady told us that because we were two minutes late that we couldn’t have our appointment and we would need to wait. We waited two hours for a three minute appointment. Super happy with my first visit today. From check-in to exam to check-out, everything went smooth, quick, and all involved were extremely kind. My four legged friend was happy with everything as well. The only hiccup was due to a transfer of records from our old vet but that in no way soured our experience. The staff at Willow Rock are very nice. My only complaint is I had an appointment at 9am and wasn't seen until 9:35 which made me late to work. Upon recommendation, I took my pup to Willow Rock Pet Hospital for surgery.  I never got to see the doctor or any staff except Dawn at the front desk who told me she'd "been there for 19 years and knew it all."They charged me for an exam...and I said, I thought I'd get to see the doctor to talk about my pup...especially his diet and his lack of interest in food.  When I told Dawn what he'd been eating, she said, "that's YOUR problem."Cause she knows EVERYTHING, right?No follow-up call from the hospital after the surgery.  No calls to apologize for their rude and unprofessional behavior.Can't recommend this facility to anyone who genuinely cares about their pet! We've been coming here within the first couple of years, after they first opened for business (Approximately 18 yrs ago). He's taken care of our two golden retrievers over the years. The veterinarian, he's a really good Dr and easy to get answers from about your pet's health. The staff that works there are friendly and the office runs smoothly too!!! Love this vet.  Reasonable prices, friendly, clean.  Our cat needed to be declawed.  She was attacking our daughter and destroying our furniture. It came down to a choice of re-homing our kitty or having her claws removed.  I realize this is not a popular procedure and the local vets I called in Davis made that clear. They lectured me and prices ranged from $500-$700.  Willow Rock did the procedure for just over $100 without a lecture.  We are so grateful to have our pet back and a much more peaceful home! Oh and I asked why they were so reasonable in pricing and the tech said the vet just wants the animals to get the care they need.  We are thinking about getting a puppy soon and will definitely make the drive. I love this vet, but haven't gone here in a while due to an inability to get in quickly. I don't know if it's still the same. One of our cats had surgery at Willow Rock several years ago and it was insanely cheap. $85 and they kept our cat for 3 days to ensure he was recovering properly. When we went to pick him up he freaked out, the wound reopened, and he defecated on himself. They gave him pain meds, got him cleaned up, and kept him an extra half a day for no charge. Other vets quoted me well over $500 for the same procedure. We took the same cat back after he developed an upper respiratory infection. I was concerned that if it was contagious our new kitten might catch the same URI. I asked if we would have to bring the kitten in to be assessed and the vet said no, he'd just give us a prescription for the kitten. Unheard of! Everyone else wants you to bring the animal in so they can charge you for a useless office visit, then try to run a ton of unnecessary tests. I highly recommend Willow Rock. Read Less

I find this vet clinic to be pretty awesome. The staff is extremely helpful and Dr. Carson is top notch.  Yes you may have to wait a little because they are very busy.  Why are they busy?? They charge a fraction of the price of the other vets I've used in the past. My last Vet quoted  700.00 for a dental!!!! This office charged me a total of 297.oo. this included pre exam, meds, bloodwork, heart monitor and 2 extractions!!! They also addressed an issue the past vet did not!!  If I have to wait a little, it's worth it!! Read Less

We took our dog to Willow Rock to have his teeth extracted. The price was so affordable we wondered if everything would be ok. Everything went well. The surgery was prompt. We were called with the results quickly. The staff was very kind and gentle with our dog. We have been back for shots and check ups. Dr. Carsten and his staff are absolutely wonderful, kind, and compassionate. I have taken my animals to many different vets over the years, and none compare Dr. Carsten. I could go on and on about what he's done for my animals and for my family but I'll just say that he is wonderful and the only person I trust with the well being of my animals. I hate to do this because they seemed to be a good place, but the experience that I had today ruined the pleasant experiences that I've had.I had to temporarily relocate for work for 3 months and my dog needed a refill on his medication.  While they mentioned I could come in and pick up the prescription without needing to see the Dr., they refused to allow 1-800-Pet-Meds to fill my prescription.  All that they needed to do was sign a fax and my dog would have his medicine the next day...they refused even though I will be back in Roseville in less than 3 months.  The alternative solution was to have someone else pick up the prescription and mail it to me.  Come on...this is 2015.Now, instead have getting the medication that my dog needs, I need to take my dog to a vet in the area that I am staying in...get a physical and blood work...THEN I can get the prescription filled.  I called 6 vets in the area and they all said they would gladly work with 1-800-Pet-Meds..."why wouldn't we?" was the typical response.  I learned that this vet is not as concerned with my dog's well being as they are with the profit they get from selling the medication...very disappointing.  My solution is to spend the money and get the blood work done at a new vet where I am staying...then find a new vet when I get back to Roseville.  I have several friends who also use this vet and they were astonished and appalled at their lack of empathy or compassion.  I know it is a business and profit is what keeps them around, but repeat customers generate more profit than a single prescription...and from me and my friends, they will get neither. Great customer service, friendly, and genuinely cares for your pet. However, we had to find another vet after they unethically disclosed our personal information to another person without speaking to us. With regrets we could not continue to use this vet office, despite how wonderful we thought this vet clinic was. In August 2015, we had to find another vet clinic because this clinic did something very unethical. I say August, because this clinic keeps flagging my review for removal. It would have been nice to have received an apology when we tried to call and speak to the vet before this review, but no apology has been given.A puppy was out wandering by my work at 5pm, I work in another area outside of Placer County. Nothing was open and no agency was willing to assist until the next day. I took the puppy home and asked my husband to take the puppy to our vet office, Willow rock, to see if she was chipped and if so, find the owner. This vet clinic put my husband in contact with the owner and after talking to the owner it was clear they were unfit to take care of this puppy. We had two choices, return the puppy to the owner or bring the puppy to an agency. We brought the puppy to the agency it was adopted from. We found out that Willow Rock Pet Hospital gave these people our phone number against their own policy. We received threats and were harassed by the puppy owners. The doctor didn't even care and stated he does not want to be in the middle. Yet, put himself in the middle by giving out our number without even finding out what was going on. He didn't even apologize or contact the agency before giving out our number. This is just so annoying and very disappointing that the vet did this. In the end the agency gave the owners some puppy 101 training, and after several home visits from the agency, the puppy was removed from the owners and re-homed because the were unfit. Update: CA Law Prohibits disclosure of records unless client consent, court order or subpoena or compliance with state or federal law. Sharing medical information between veterinarians or facilities is allowed for treatment or diagnosis. Disclosure of records is also allowed when a client files a civil or criminal complaint that places the veterinarian's care at issue. There are criminal penalties for an unauthorized release of records. The section states that it shall not interfere with the sharing of veterinary medical information between veterinarians, peace officers, and humane society officers. Read Less

Dr. Carstens and staff are always friendly and helpful. I had stopped taking my dogs to a vet because i could not get out for less than $350!!!! Willow Rock Pet Hospital has changed that for me! I make the drive from Citrus heights because they are the most reasonable, kind and caring pet hospital i have ever had contact with. Recently, one of my dogs had developed skin tags on his eyelids (one was the size of a small cauliflower!) Dr. Carstens removed them from both eyelids AND cleaned out his ears as there was a bit of yeast infection for an unbelievably reasonable price!!! I highly recommend Willow Rock Pet Hospital! As a first time dog owner, I was very nervous about my first appointment with my new Corgi Puppy Rhino. First off let me start by saying I love the location it super easy to get to and park. The waiting room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was very welcoming even offering to hold him while I could finish my paperwork as I think they could see I was a little overwhelmed. Dr. Carstens was very patient with my teething puppy and took the time to answer all my questions (and I had a whole list). These folks really care about your pets and as should be especially Dr. Carston. When my dog was diagnosed with cancer and had a short time to live he was nothing but compassionate and kind. He did everything he could to make her comfortable, told me what to expect, and told me to call anytime with any questions or concerns. Recently I got a new puppy Who had an issue with her tummy. I was very concerned that it was purple. When I called the staff was going to get me in the next day. They were so booked. I pushed and the gal asked me to hold and told me she would go talk to the doctor. She told me to come in so that they could just run her in the back and have someone run a test. I would to see the doctor as he was booked to the gills. When I got there the waiting room was full.I waited close to 35 to 40 mins.finally they called her back and when the test results came in I was called into a little room to speak to Dr. Kersten. I did not expect this. He came in talk to me I shirred me that my puppy was fine she did not have Parvo, She had another issue that he would treat with antibiotics. He did not have to see me or consult with me. He could've had one of his staff to do that. But he did. I have a brother who is a veterinarian out of town and I know what it's like to run that very busy business. We pet owners regarding our pets as family. And denying us any time for our pets care is like denying us care for our human children. People get very upset.what these veterinarian doctors have to deal with in terms of clients displeasures and not being able to be seen right away is really very stressful. I have nothing but good things to say about this office in terms of their care and their compassion. My only complaint is that they are so well-known and successful it is very hard to get in when you need to, they are as cordial and kind as they can be but boy those front desk women have to rush you through everything because they have such a heavy patient load. you may be frustrated by the Availability, the small waiting room and sometimes the manner in which you are rushed. However their prices are quite reasonable And they are very careful to tell you about the charges in advance. And have even worked with me in the past to make sure I don't go over a certain amount. Or have anything done that I couldn't afford.and lastly you will never find a group of people who cares more about animals then these folks. Just tried out willow rock in the search for a new vet. I brought my pit mix in for 2 shots that she needed. Her last experience at a different vet was terrible so we were both nervous. The old vet muzzled her while two ppl held her in front me most likely because she's a pit mix. She was t showing aggression, she was just scared and hiding. Very unnecessary. I brought her to Willow Rock and the Dr. Was awesome! He was calm and patient with her, he could tell she was nervous. The whole process was smooth and painless. We adopted him from an older family who no longer could keep Isbo unfortunately. i wanted to make sure his shots and everything was up to date.
