We were referred to this clinic and it was our first time. The place feels very inviting and clean too. Our wait time was about 5 minutes or less, it was quick, so that's a plus. The staff were nice! And i love their veterinarian Dr. Daniel because he is so friendly, his personality is very friendly and easy-going. He shows compassion for his furry patients and he would really spend time with you and your pet and really take his time to physically check them out,not like other vets they seem like always in a hurry... but not Dr. DANIEL. He will explain everything to you so you would understand everything what is going on. And before they do any type of treatment or procedure, he will show you first the full details of what has to be done including estimates, so you know what to expect on the costs. Without a doubt the most thorough, informative and caring vet visit I have ever experienced. The doctor spent a considerable amount of time with me and my dog. She took every step to make sure my dog was comfortable and relaxed. There is even a “patients bill of rights” posted in the examining room. Took my dog to this vet for the first time yesterday to see Dr. Foster. My dog was recently diagnosed with diabetes so he spent a few nights in the hospital last week and two follow up visits at the hospital as well, so he was scared and shaking when i brought him into the office. When we got there, the front staff was so friendly. One of the gals brought me a scented towel to wrap my dog in and help relax him. Since my dogs diagnosis I've been doing so much research that I've confused and stressed myself out. Dr Foster took time to listen to and address all of my concerns and questions. I left feeling the best I've felt since this all started. He also followed up with a call to me later that day to follow up on the visit and to follow up on some of the things we discussed that he needed to look into further. We just love the staff at Douglas Blvd!! My husband and I are retired pet sitters and we also care for 6 "feral" cats in the greenbelt behind our house that people have moved away and left. So, Needless to say, our working knowledge of veterinary care makes us "tough customers" when it comes to our own animals care and choosing a veterinarian. That being said, from our first visit with Dr. Nickens, we knew we'd found a wonderful place to take our fur babies. Vets are awesome and really check your pets but they definitely do sneak in charges. Our dog went in with a limp and he gave us some choices so we decided to get her foot wrapped. The said they could do it and would do it and we are like "awesome something we don't have to spend an hour figuring out". Went to check out and pay. We see the physical price and the charge of wrapping her foot. 17$ to wrap her foot! The vet didn't even tell us they'd charge for it. Nothing until we got our receipt and saw why it was a little more than expected. Did not like that at all. But they do a good job other than that. Read Less

I should have gone with my first instinct and not gone in. First, there was dog feces on the sidewalk going into the clinic. Upon entering the location, there was no greeting from the several staff members walking around seemingly doing nothing. So, I waited what I thought was an appropriate amount of time (10 minutes) and still did not get any type of assistance, before I had to speak up. The staff is rude, unprofessional and snide. Thanks for care and compassion you shared on our day of sadness. To a stranger she was just a dog, but to us she was family, a fur baby. When the discussion turned to quality of life the staff gave sound medical advice along with heart felt concern for our loved one. Love and compassion cannot cure all things and sadly we had to say farewell to our Roxi. Each time during the following weeks when a call was needed for the other fur baby the vet clinic was always supportive and concerned for how we as a family (humans and canine alike) were doing. I'm a fairly new client here and I've been there a few times and I think I am confident enough to say, we are here to stay. My kitten saw Dr. Bittaker for an eye infection and most recently, my dog developed a mystery lump and a limp and I saw Dr. Hynie. I knew going in that my dog would need lots of diagnostics and I would be in for an expensive visit, and it most certainly was. However, they were very, very clear with what I would be charged before anything was done, complete with printed estimates. I have had pets for a very long time and looking at all the prices for vaccines, xrays, labwork, etc. They are not unreasonable. They're not cheap, but it is not outrageous either. But you know what? You get what you pay for and veterinary medicine is not an area where I'd like to bargain shop. Everyone I came into contact with was friendly, helpful and very sweet with my dog. Dr. Hynie took her time, answered our questions and explained how we would proceed with my dog's issues and I really felt at ease with her and that she really cared and was truly pulling for a good outcome for him as much as we were.Being new to the area, one of my biggest anxieties was finding a veterinary hospital I am comfortable with and I look forward to a long and happy relationship with the folks at DBVC...but hopefully we have more routine visits going forward! :) Read Less

I bought a "well kitten plan" for a kitten that I rescued. The kitten got sick and I had to have it put to sleep. When I finally got another kitten I called the office and was told that it has been too long and they would not let me use the "well kitten plan" could not be used for a different kitten, even though I paid cash in advance! I never received any medical treatment for my kitten they refuse to allow me to use the plan I paid for! This is terrible business who will take advantage of their customers. I paid nearly $200.00 and never received any care??!! My money did not expire when you put it in your bank but for some reason your "well kitten plan" does expire or can't be used on another kitten, if not you should at least refund their money??!! I have brought my cat here a few times and just had to bring my dog here last week.The employees are always super friendly and always compliment my animals and are really nice and sweet to them. They really make me feel at home!The building and inside is nicely updated and always clean. They are also on time for their appointments and when I call the day of to make an appointment they can always fit me in on the same day which is nice and convenient!Sure it can get expensive when you take your animal here, but isn't it expensive too when you go to the doctor with no insurance? I just normally pick and choose what to do and what I think is necessary.Make sure to check in on Yelp and get 10% off your bill!Anyways, I definitely recommend bringing your animals here, you will get A+ service and feel very welcome and confident in the doctors. This is an expensive place! The staff was knowledgeable and friendly but took forever. They didn't seem "too busy" at the time either.  2 hours after arriving our dog finally had his kennel cough medicine and we could finally go home to work to pay off the bill we just racked up. They gave our dogs a physical without telling us which costs $50 each dog. Would have liked to have known that before looking at the bill.
