Had to have an annual exams done for my dog in order to have a heart worm test done. That’s fine but the vet came in the room and really did nothing as far as an exam. She helped hold my dog down while she got her test. The vet did kind of look at her teeth before leaving the room only because I asked her if my dogs teeth needed cleaning. I held her lips up and the vet looked from where she was standing and said she could stand to have them cleaned. After that I said what about the exam, the vet said. “I don’t want to take her temperature since she is so nervous.” My last vet, who unfortunately moved, did a very detailed exam. He felt for lumps, checked range of motion in her joints. Listen to her heart. He also asked me lots of questions about diet. If drinking excessive amounts of water. About her appetite also about any chance in activity level. None of these things where done at Campus Commons. The cost of the “ non exam” was $53:00. I have heard good thing about this place. I had been there once before a year ago but saw the Orthopedic. I will not be going back. Very disappointing. Read Less

This place is a joke. I made an appointment for my dog to get heartworm medicine and they ran the test wrong which caused weeks of agony. I waited for 30 minutes to get the result after the blood sample, then the vet told me that is was positive. After that, she basically kicked me out of the office and told me to make another appointment, no explanation, or anything. I came back two weeks later and the receptionist had scheduled the wrong day for a re-test. I took off an entire day of work so I could be with my dog and they wouldn't even do the re-test even though they had messed up on the scheduling. I made an appointment with Sacramento Animal Hospital down the street and have been with them happily for the past year. They performed another test and told me it was negative and that this vet probably ran the test too long. I'm not promoting SAH, but there is better service in the area instead of going to this place. Read Less

Not recommended. Where is the no star option. I had previously posted a 5 star review about 5 years ago. At that time I had been going there for 13 years and through 2 generations of pets. I had even moved to another area of town and preferred to drive past several closer Pet Hospitals to continue to have my pets care for by the staff at Campus Commons Pet Hospital. I have two cats and two dogs, so plenty of experience with this business and ongoing pet care. Now, a few years... later, it's time to move on. It's been under new management/owners for several years and all the exceptional staff have long since moved on, the new front desk staff lacks customer service skills and the Veterinarian technicians are either still in Veterinary school or recent graduates, as their knowledge and skills are lacking. The Veterinarian Doctor's are lacking in their diagnostic and follow through skills See More Read Less

My Vet's name is Dr. Christelle Follette, she was extremely helpful and knowledge. She answered all of my millions of questions that I had! My dog usually is very nervous at the vet, but I really felt like Christelle was very gentle with her which put her at ease. She was genuinely concerned with my baby and explained everything to me so there was no surprises which I definitely appreciate. On a walk back from a late lunch at Piatti my dog somehow broke her nail partially off. It scared me, since she was lightly bleeding. Since I was so close to this office and it was nearing 5 pm I called and asked if they could fit us in just to fix her nail without further damage. I assumed they would make time since it would only be a 5minute process if that, but they chose not to. I was on hold for 10 minutes only to be told that they couldn't make the time for us. She is so thorough and really goes out of her way to make sure that every pet she sees has the highest level of care.We have been coming here for years with all 3 of our Goldens. Our youngest, Bosley, had to have surgery after a mysterious bump showed up about 6 months ago. Dr. Patton knew right away what was going on and tried the least invasive thing first, but we had to end up doing surgery. She did a great job and Bosley was fine and had us coming in often for the next few weeks for follow up appointments just to make sure his wound as healing correctly. I appreciate her being overly cautious and making sure he had the best care possible. I moved to Sacramento very recently and was at a loss as to where to take my beautiful little miniature dachshund, Lily, when she had a little health scare. I was actually referred to Campus Commons by another pet hospital who couldn't fit me in for the day. From the initial call to see if they could fit me in (they close at 6 I believe and I called at 2. They still got me in for the day) and all the way through the appointment, the staff was phenomenal. They were kind, very helpful, and very sweet to my terrified dog. Dr. Patton looked very briefly at my girl, and immediately referred me to the UC Davis emergency services. She said she could run some initial tests at her facility, but that it would be costly and most likely Lily would need to go to UC Davis anyway. She was very serious, but gentle in her delivery of this not so wonderful news. She also waived any cost for my visit here. I did take Lily to UC Davis, and with their help Lily is now happy at home! I have Dr. Patton and Campus Commons to thank for that! I would absolutely recommend taking your pet to their facility! P.S. Dr. Patton also called the next day, a saturday, to follow up and see how UC Davis had worked out! Read Less

Campus Commons is hands-down the only vet I'll ever trust. I visit regularly for routine doggie checkups, but a few months ago my long-backed boy was whining and trembling with pain. CC was closed so I went to an "emergency" vet I had used in the past. The emergency vet told me my dog would immediately need $8,000 worth of tests and surgery, and that if I didn't comply I was an irresponsible dog owner and the best thing to do would be to put him to sleep. The price was simply not an option and I was not  ready to say goodbye to such a sweet animal--an animal that literally changed the way I view the world. I pressed and was given painkillers for my dog instead. Campus Commons opened on Monday and saw my boy right away. I had been in for so many routine visits and did not know the vet has been a dog spinal care specialist since the late 1970s! He looked at the X-rays I had brought in and immediately deduced that my pup would recover with significant bed rest. Further, if the problem ever did reappear, his surgery costs would be half what the other vet offered. I am grateful for the expertise within Campus Commons, and every time I look at my dog I'm thankful I got a second opinion. Read Less

I have been taking my animals to Campus Commons for the past seven years and was nervous when the long standing vet left the practice last year. This coincided with a move from East Sacramento to North Natomas and so I decided that we would just change vets and have our animals go to a vet closer to home. I was reading the reviews from the three main vets in the area and there was cause for concern with each vet- one had ridiculously high prices, the other had unethical practices, and the other would perform unnecessary costly procedures. While these were mentioned in a couple of reviews, their presence alone made me not want to go to any of their practices. My dog was recently attacked and after her stay in the pet ER, we needed to establish care with a vet. I knew that our old vet had moved on but I trusted Campus Commons and so we took our little pup to get checked out. Dr. Throne saw my peanut and he did a full exam on her- checking her range of motion and reflexes. He looked over the faxed report from the pet ER and said that she was looking good despite what happened and that we should stick with the care plan outline at the ER. He was very nice and personable although he seemed a bit nervous but from what I know, he is relatively new to the practice. A couple of days later, we had questions about my pup and called. The receptionist said that she would check and when she came back to the line, she said that Dr. Throne would call us back. Nice! Ten minutes later, he called back and answered our long list of questions! Ten minutes later- that must be some kind of record! Based on his knowledge and how he treated my little peanut, we will definitely be returning to Campus Commons despite the 20 minute drive from home. Read Less

Read Less

Read Less
