Wonderful experience! Dr.Moon and his staff are loving, caring professionals that pay allot of attention to detail! Totally affordable and got me in, last minute, on a Saturday! He explained everything to me in detail that he was doing and why he was doing it! Cannot recommend this place enough! I've found my new vet!!! (My old one didn't have time for me until Monday). Small, almost boutique-esque location. Staff is extreme friendly and nicely conversational. Prices are affordable ranging from exams to treatments to medication. I travel a good 30 minutes just to bring my little critters here. Read Less

Staff was very nice and knowledgeable. Other vets treated my energetic pit like a fighting dog, but the vet here was super good with all her energy. Instead of confining her to standing on a table the vet was throwing treats all over the place to distract her while checking vitals and getting a shot. Read Less

Unpleasant visit overall. It seems that Dr Moon can only work well with dogs. Do not take your cats here. We brought our cat in because he started drooling randomly (weird behavior for him) and this was the only place that we could find that could take us in on the same day. Dr Moon was afraid of our cat the entire time. He would jump back every time my cat raised his paw and at some point gave my cat a dirty look and acted angry at him. (He also broke a stick trying to open my cat's mouth, and did not care where the remains went) He seemed annoyed that we even cared enough to bring our cat in and pay him money to examine him when the symptoms had only been occurring for 24 hours. I read another review about how his solution was to amputate a cat's ear. He said we might need to pull one of our cat's teeth. Seems like he is quite extreme when it pertains to cats. Overall the staff wasn't anything extraordinary. The place seems empty and I now understand why. If you'd like compassionate, loving care for your animals do not come here. I have now wasted $39 and I still don't know if my baby is okay. Read Less

Called a couple of places, one closed at 1pm. (this is Saturday) , the other was to busy, Needed to take our cat in, Hillsdale Animal hospital took care of our cat.  The bill for a blood work and 2 meds, $297. But they took our cat right away. Will go again. Read Less

Dr. Moon made my poor cat worse when he amputated my cats ear. After spending about a $1000 and she is worse I had to take her to 2 other vets just to get her healthy again. The only good thing about this place is the girls are nice and for vaccinations they are fine, for surgery's go somewhere else. He is way overpriced and a horrible surgeon Read Less

The vet techs and Dr Moo are wonderful. They are very tender and patient with the animals and I love how they follow up the next day to see how things are going. They also give you a running total before they do anything else on the animal...not that I wouldn't pay whatever to make Mimi better. Read Less

Dealing with pet emergencies is such a stressful situation, and Hillsdale made what is ordinarily a nightmare so much easier for my family and I can't tell the staff thank you enough. My 14-year-old Pomeranian Gizmo is basically my child. His teeth had become extremely bad over the last few years as he's become a senior, and we were told after an emergency after hours visit at another pet hospital it would cost us thousands of dollars to have all of his teeth removed, which is what needed to be done ASAP before any infection in his mouth could spread to the rest of his body. Simply unable to afford the steeply high prices at the other clinic, we asked friends for recommendations and this was at the top of our list due to the compassion they had shown another friend who came here to unfortunately have her furry friend euthanized. She had nothing but positive things to say about them, so we went and our experience was not different at all.We first had an initial check-up, which was a very reasonable price. The clinic is in a rough-ish area, and it's very hard to miss if you're not paying attention. The girl at the check-in desk was extremely personable, sarcastic in a hilariously sweet way (which is nice to have someone upbeat yet not obnoxious around when dealing with a sick animal), knowledgable, and you could tell she was really good at her job. The clinic was clean, small, and your standard vet clinic, I suppose. The vet tech assistant was also very sweet and handled my old man with such care. We loved Dr. Moon from the get go. Both my husband and I immediately got a sense that he cared about animals and understood our needs, and was very gentle and thorough with Gizmo. He was very good at explaining what needed to be done for Gizmo's treatment plan, and we received a quote for a full dental extraction at less than half of what the other vet quoted us. Normally we are skeptical about prices if they are very much cheaper than someone else's, but this was obviously a situation where quality wasn't being compromised - we simply found an amazing, empathetic vet with great prices. It was just our luck.We scheduled surgery about two weeks later. Dr. Moon pulled all of Gizmo's teeth. It was the most nerve-wracking four hours of our lives, but we picked up a very bloody but very well-treated dog. The same girl who checked us in before was even super patient with me as I had to fight with my bank for 20 minutes on the phone to get them to authorize my payment to them, and both the girls and Dr. Moon were very articulate and clear in explaining to my husband Gizmo's med schedule while I was dealing with the whole thing. It's been a week now and Gizmo is acting like nothing ever happened. The one critique I do have which is really not a big deal but I thought would mention is they told us they would give us a follow-up phone call a day or two after his surgery, but we haven't received a call yet. That is okay, though - we know if we needed anything we could call them and they'd happily talk to us over the phone. He is out of pain and has healed up nicely and it is all thanks to the great work and kindness of Dr. Moon and the staff at Hillsdale. This was my first visit to Hillsdale Animal Hospital. I went for a wellness check up for a dog that I had just adopted.  The vet tech was very nice on the phone and got me an appointment the next business day!  The hospital is very clean and well kept and the vet techs were very friendly.  I felt the veterinarian did a very thorough check on my pup and even discovered an infection in her paw that I thought was just a swollen paw. The price was very fair in my opinion and the service was fantastic.  We will definitely be going back! Read Less

Nothing bad can be said about this office.  If the staff is not able to accommodate, they attempt to assist where they can.  My fur baby has been a patient since our union and though he doesn't enjoy visiting the office, he doesn't give a fight as I'm sure he understands that Dr. Moon will take care of him.  We have been in the office for everything from a fox tail in the ear to a bladder stone.  Dr. Moon has taken great care of him without raping my pockets.  I recommend to ALL in the area. I called this morning to make an appointment for my cat as his paw had swollen up. I was very pleased to get a same day appointment and the lady on the phone was very nice. We arrived to our appointment and were seen very promptly. The vet assistant was super sweet and great with our cat. Dr. Moon was wonderful as well- very calm, kind and knowledgeable. I was surprised how calm my cat was during his exam! In the end my cat got a pain shot, antibiotics and the staff was even kind enough to work with me on the bill. Diamond in the Rough!!!Service was awesome from the initial phone call! Made the appointment with Emily who got me and the puppies in right away!!!The surrounding area is well-lived. The plaza looks down-trodden, but the hospital inside is clean and open and well-light!We were greeted by Darni and Emily who are vet techs. They were so friendly, playful, and I could tell immediately that they loved animals! Right away my little dogs were calmed down by their kind demeanor and professionalism. They took the time to explain everything to me and to make me feel comfortable!!!!Emily weighed the pups and took their vitals. She was so great with both dogs!!!Then Dr. Moon did a complete physical in both of the doggies before giving them their vaccinations. The hospital was so affordable! Only $166 For both dogs: Complete physical, all vaccinations, rabies shot, and deworming medicine. This was waaaay less than everywhere else I called for a quote. My fur baby had his first visit at Hillsdale today. Overall, our experience here was pleasant. The staff was friendly and helpful. The place was clean and smelled nice. The Dr did a good job handling my dog considering he does not usually do well with people he does not know. The only negative I would say is that the Dr did not know exactly what was wrong with my dog. He was unsure if my dog had kennel cough or allergies. My dog was prescribed two different medications, one for kennel cough and one for allergies. I just hope I am not giving my dog any unnecessary medication. The price was decent because my first initial check up was free. I paid $41 for 2 medications. I will be using Hillsdale for my veterinary needs. Read Less

Love this vet :] I trust my pups here. I've been a client for over 6 years now & they always take care of my doggies. The puppy package is great when you first get a puppy; a very reasonable price. Dr. Hill is no longer the veterinarian, but when I came in recently for my dachshund's ear infection, I was a greeted with very friendly staff. Dr. Moon introduced himself & quickly took care of my dog. I love my dogs like family, so it's great to know when the veterinarian treats you and your furry baby as such. I definitely recommend bringing your pups (or if you prefer the kitties) here, they'll be very well taken care of. Read Less

This place is amazing. I have two cats and both of them are taken care of perfectly. I've also got a good deal for all the shots and vaccinations - cheaper than all the other places.The service is also very nice, a little clumsy and absent-minded at times (it took them a long time to find my pet's documents), but in the end everything is done right and any problem/error is corrected immediately. They often check things twice to make sure they got it right and I love that about them. I've been there for many visits already and I can certainly say that I trust that my cats are in good hands and I don't blame them for being a little absent-minded once in a while. With so many pets visiting them, I'm surprised they can remember all their names. Just amazing! Read Less

How you view certain things in life explains a lot about you. Such as, I seem to be the only person posting about this shopping plaza that didn't find it to be: ghetto, scary, ran-down. To me, this is the equivalent to an old retail-shopping plaza in the non-nuevo-riche part of Elk Grove, except without the quintessential crap sushi joint. I come from a neighborhood with far worse shopping plazas, complete with dollar trees, liquor stores and a combined check cashing/loan for your car/pawn shop. But, sometimes you just have to go to places you're scared of to get good deals.After a five-minute drive from school (American River), I was 20 minutes early for my appointment. After a five-minute wait, Dr. Hill saw Beau and I. Beau got examined, diagnosed, a shot and prescribed antibiotics. I was out in around 30-minutes. What I like most about Dr. Hill is he's cordial, nice, but not flowery. He was all business, and that's what I like the most. I don't need bells, whistles and product pushing. I need "nice enough" to my dog, the business and a decent rate. And with only $35 for an exam/consultation and a few extra bucks for Beau's antibiotics for the bum dragging, I couldn't have been more comfortable. These are prices I wouldnt have been quoted in a "better" neighborhood.I'm just sorry that Dr. Hill made an enemy for life with Beau. Beau had to get his bum examined for the arse dragging and was violated like a mule attempting to smuggle drugs across the border in all kinds of hidden areas. I don't think I need to say more. I have worked for 10 years as a veterinary technician and needed to find a veternarian closer to my home. I tried Hillsdale Animal Hospital and was very appreciative of their professional nature and willingness to work with me to find a solution for my pet. She has a condition called stomatitis, and will stop eating when her mouth hurts. I used to get injections for her but they seemed to not be working all that well. I tried this new hospital and found that depomedral would be a better choice for my cat. Within days, she was a new cat. Eating once again and enjoying life. It is amazing how a doctor who knows what he is doing can affect your pet is such a positive way. Thank you. Read Less
