This place is horrible. They took advantage of a struggling student who took her senior dog in for a urinalysis. She told them to do a culture and sensitivity test on her if her UA was abnormal, but it wasn't and they still did one and charged her an extra $125. You took advantage of my daughter. You also SOLD her a senior blood lab w/o telling her what it was and how much it would cost. The dog was not taken in there for that, but they insisted. She didn't know any better and thought her dog needed it because they suggested it. She took the dog in for incontinence, not to be taken advantage of. I'm surprised they didn't sell her a bunch of other crap. Shame on them. That visit should have costed her no more than $100 and it costed her over $300 and you did nothing for the dog. Midtown has been our veterinarian for our Alaskan Malamute Tallulah's care for all 8 years of her life. We couldn't dream of taking her anywhere else. The care she has received from shots to physical exams is always first rate and anytime we are going to midtown animal hospital she gets so excited, yes our dog can't wait to go to the vet. Small little vets office with amazing staff. From the front desk all the way to the vet. I just moved out here and wasn't sure where to take my pet. I was referred to this vet by a friend. I made an appointment to bring my dog in to be seen. I was told to show up 10 mins before schedule to fill out paperwork. When I got there I was told to be seated to wait to be called. The clerks called others that arrived after I did to the desk then they noticed I was still waiting so asked who I was and how long I was sitting. Very good service. My other half usually handles vet visits, and this was my first time there. Everything was explained at my knowledge level of pets and they did not sell me on anything I didn't already ask about. I had to take my cat to a vet. This one was close and had a good rating. We went, they were very sweet and kind. Gave me my options and was ok when I said no to some of them. Very sweet with the cat. If I need anything more will definitely got back. She had a sore on her back. They cut hair away and said it was healing.Read Less

They do great work here and helped save my cat when he was quite ill. The staff and doctors are kind, caring and gentle with the animals. They are good at what they do and as a result tend be quite busy so best not to try to get a same day or same week appointment. Read Less

Best animal hospital in the city. Staff is professional, courteous, and efficient. Yes, appointments sometimes have to be scheduled several days out, because they're usually booked. That's because they're such a good hospital. My cat and I generally see Dr. True, who is fantastic. She can be reserved at first -- she doesn't suffer fools gladly, and gods know she must have a lot of idiots and spoiled rich types coming in and giving her grief. But she's a hell of a good veterinarian, and once she gets to know you and your pet, she's awesome. Every time I bring my cat in, she remembers her, greets her, pets and skritches her, like she's an old friend. She's sensible, sensitive to my cat's history and needs (my cat's an ex-feral,) and doesn't tack on unnecessary tests, &c. just to pad the bill. That said, payment is due at the time of service. Don't expect to waltz in, get your pet seen to, and then blithely inform them you'll pay them sometime next week. Or next month. They're a business, and a dammed good one. They expect, quite reasonably, to get paid for their services. Once they know you well, and you have a history of paying on time, and in full, they may work with you on cost and payments, if necessary. But if you want to freeload or expect them to trust that you'll pay them some day...eventually, go somewhere else. But there's no comparison. Midtown's definitely the best vet in Sacramento. Now that I'm moving out of state, they're one of the things I'll miss most about the city.Read Less

I have three cats and have taken all of them to Midtown Animal Hospital now for more than 4 years. Dr. Dinger, Dr. Rose and all of the vet tech staff have been wonderful. Dr. Dinger in particular is very kind and has a great way with animals. It can be hard to get an appointment on Saturdays, but I have been able to get an appointment within a day or two when needed. They are fairly affordable, although any veterinary service is expensive. I have recommended them to friends and they have also been very happy with the way they treated their pets. Read Less

I have gone to Midtown for veterinary care since first moving to Sacramento in 2005. Both of my guide dogs have received excellent care. Both have been seen and treated by Dr.s Rose & DInger as well as owner Dr. Kate True. I have referred many friends and family members and all have been happy with the care they received. The receptionist staff and vet assistants have been courteous, helpful and showed great care to my dogs & their human. 5 stars!!! Read Less
