Most positive reviews are from years ago, or for boarding and grooming. I had a good experience last time here. Now in here with true emergency..my dog can hardly breathe, I called in on way in, and the ONLY staff member was on and extended phone call. Additionally, I paid about $600 for visit with an x-ray. I was told my dog had a lung disease by vet, after being chastised for using a collar not a harness, and given some antibiotics. I called the next day, Monday, to find out what the person that was reading the x-rays said; which was there was no significant findings on the x-ray of his lungs. No one from Muller called to tell me the results of the x-rays. So I spent 24 hours researching things I could do for lung disease to find out my dog does not have lung disease! I called for a refill for the antibiotic and 24 hours have passed with no response. If you have to go to one of these chain stores please go to the one on Winery Road. Read Less

Vets may be good, but if U have a pet THAT IS registered, examed, & in the system: Your pet gets very sick & u call to see ANY VET this may happen: NO VET AVIALBLE for 2-3 days, take to OUR emergency for $200 flat fee + upcharges. No more Mueller: Another very busy 5 Star Vet SAME DAY took my 2 year CDK cat in immediately!! Kudos for that, & this practice WILL BE my cats new place for QUALITY CARE. My kitty Gizmo just passed away from a thyroid condition. He had been on medication for it for just over a year and was under the care of Dr. Elliot at the Mueller Veterinary Hospital on Freeport. Unfortunately, Dr. Elliot has moved on since Mueller Vet Hospital has changed hands and I will miss him. I had a not so good experience when I took Gizmo in to Mueller’s to end his suffering. I’m sorry to say that I felt as though I was being fleeced by their policies. He was suffering horribly and close to death. Because they couldn’t “fit him in on the regular schedule” I had to come in through the “emergency entrance.” So instead of a regular office visit charge of $55.00 I was charged $105.00. I don’t see why they should do that. They didn’t behave as though it was an emergency. They knew there was nothing they could do for him. And even though Gizmo was in excruciating pain and yowling like crazy, they still made us wait for over a half hour to be seen. Then they charged me for the euthanasia for a small animal which was $107.89 and care of the deceased for $53.53. So I am crying my heart out because my baby is gone and I get slammed with a $266.42 bill. It would have been double if I had fallen for their sales pitch for Gizmo’s ashes in a box. What a racket. I wish there could have been a way to end his suffering without having to go into debt. Just wanted to spread the word in case you ever have a similar situation. You might want to “shop around” if you know your beloved pet is nearing his/her end and you don’t want him to suffer. And you don’t want to get fleeced. Read Less

Great vets and tech but as soon as you leave and need to get an Rx filled it is the biggest headache ever. I have experienced at least 3 separate occasions where I called in a prescription and been told it was sent over only to find upon arrival to pharmacy that I needed to have a Vet visit first before the refill or that no one called at all.... Seems a follow up from initial visit that led to Rx would be something brought up before assuring you the Rx was called over and you drive across town to pick it up. There is never anyone working in the Pharmacy department, it just goes to voicemail and they tell you that it will be 12 hours before you receive any response if any at all.... I am on my last leg with them all because they cannot seem to staff their pharmacy dept adequately. Its a shame because the vets and techs are awesome but as soon as you leave its another story... I want to remain a client with all 3 of our animals here but the Rx process is so painful. Read Less

Growing pains???? I had Mueller as a 5 stars for years. Since they have gone to 24 hours customer service is hurting. Been here twice in last month. Took me 3 phone calls over last four days to get a prescription refilled. Previously commitment was to refill within 12-hours. I learned prescription had been approved but ball was dropped between doctor approval, to pharmacy, to me. I'm still cheering for y'all. I see all the new staff and construction. I was told the symptoms my cat was having WERE an 'EMERGENCY' and to bring him in ASAP... a possible uterer blockage I was told- and tests must be run!! - but I'd have to wait until Monday for the results (this was a Saturday evening/night). Monday came and went... Tuesday... Wednesday... Thursday... Weeks passed and now about a month has gone by and NOBODY EVER CALLED ME WITH THE 'URGENT TEST' RESULTS - EVER! STILL, Tto this day, no call back, no follow-up, NOTHING. Luckily my cat 'recovered' on his own. I feel 'taken' by this place. Seems legit, right? - treat an animal for NOTHING (BUT was TOLD they: did a sterile, needle recovery of urine, gave subcutaneous saline, and performed a UA at an off-site lab as well as painkillers and an anti-spam medication) but charged me $500! And couldn't even call me and give a BS answer as to what the 'results' were!!!! I had called to ask if he was ready to be picked up after about 3 hours, since I had not yet heard anything. They said 'Oh, yes! He JUST got finished!' I get back to the office which is in South Sacramento (a bit of a drive). I told the woman at reception I was there to get my cat. She said it would be just a minute and she left to the back office. I continued to sit and wait alone in the waiting room for over 45 minutes! I FINALLY had to walk around the building until I was able to pick up the staff members laughing in a back room. I proceeded to knock on the door and told her I have been waiting for close to an hour for my cat to be brought out!! They finally brought him out to me (it was now after 12midnight). Lo and behold, by the next morning he was perfectly fine! Didn't matter what the test said, apparently. I suggest doing your research first before taking your pets to this vet.... learn about the symptoms that your pets are having and what they can possibly have because how could something so obvious not get notice as soon as they saw my husband's Dog dragging her leg and looking confused.... if you were sent home with any medications make sure you read about the reviews first before taking it home and putting your pet at risk of any side effects and worsen their conditions even more..after doing my research i came across something online about the medication that they gave me and came across this "Follow your vet's advice carefully and read all the accompanying information provided with the medication. This medication should always come with a Client Information Sheet provided by your vet. The next paragraphs will go over a few risks and issues this drug can pose." I was given any information about any risks ..my dog never had seizures until we gave her the medication prescribed to us so we decided to stop giving it to her because we don't know exactly how stable her lungs and kidneys are and decided not to risk putting her in anymore pain than she already is...but again...researching and reading about what's going on with my dog helped me figure out what she had was worser than what the vet can see.....by observing my dog's symptoms from crying in pain dazed and confused bumping into walls walking like she was drunk I was able to figure what she had first and for sure next time I will do my research before having a vet tell me what I don't know because if you don't know anything and trusting your vet is the first thing you do then you are not going to be happy with what little information you are sent home with...I DON'T! expect anything back from this place so good luck I hope everyone gets a better experience than I did and make sure you do your research before giving your pet anything!!! Came here with our 12 year old dog. Was told 6 months to live and they wanted to put him to sleep. We we're told so many things that were untrue. My dog is still alive one year later. They also told use we had to keep doing blood work for meds. Also untrue. They just want your money. They do not care about our fur babies!! Please do not take your baby here!! They were so quick to kill our dog because of the money.Read Less

My mom's poodle, Reine was ill after hours so we found ourselves taking her 12 1/2 year old friend to the ER here last night. The staff was efficient, kind, and sensitive. They were busy but did not rush Mom into making a decision about the prognosis of Reine. Dr. Taro Cuetara was a wonderful veterinarian and his soft spoken manner was comforting to all parties involved. Reine had to be put to 'sleep' and the experience was one of respect, sympathy, and kindness. Thank you for your professional service and being there as Reine crossed over the "Rainbow Bridge". This is the best vet hospital I have taken my animals to. The prices can be a little higher than some other vets but the piece of mind I get is priceless in itself!! I love the staff and all the dotors my animals have seen but I do have to say my favorite doc is Dr. Taro Cuetara!!! Don't get me wrong....ALL the doctors there are AWESOME but I try to have all my animals seen by the same vet and Dr. Taro Cuetara is my number 1 go to animal guru!!!! Read Less

Took my #1 buddy here on a weekend because his stomach was bloated. I short, fat, sweaty lady, with grayish messy hair, with a slavic last name took my dog into the back to run some test. She called me into an office and the first thing said was bluntly said, "So, Tank is going to die, you just need to figure out if you want him to die now, or in 6mo". I was shocked!!! He was full of energy just the day before. I asked why, she put up his X-Ray while saying, oh he has cancer all over this area. She circled HALF his stomach! I have a decent background in the medical field, and the area she pointed at was obviously not "white" enough on the X-Ray sheet to be cancer. I sat there for about a minute completely shocked. she said "you can spend about $5k to give him another 6mo. or we just cut our loses and say goodbye, personally that's pretty expensive for 6mo." Who says that?!!!!!! I literally wanted to jump up and smack this rude person! I pointed out on the X-Ray that the area in question looked more like fluid based off of my experience. She disagreed, so I told her I want a second opinion. We kept him there over night after I spent about 30 minutes in the back laying in his cage with him. He was everything to me. The next morning I got a call that he had a tumor on or in his spline and it could be removed and he would live a normal life after......Which he did for another year, but only because he was a 13 year old American rednose pitbull. RIP Tank.....I will never take another animal to this vet again....Plus I pretty much paid just as much as a car to get that surgery done. Horrible service, but the facility is quite clean and nice....like that mattered at the time. Read Less

I absolutely love Dr. Katara and for that matter all the doctors; they will call you back and answer any questions you have. Dr.k in particular was my cats doctor and he was very sympathetic and informative as well as caring when it came to my cats treatment. Unfortunately my cat only had about a week left after a battle we had for a couple years. The 2 star rating is for how they acted on my cats final night/day. Unfortunately Dr.k wasnt working on call that evening and wouldnt be in for a day. The Dr. That evening on call was helpful and sympathetic to my feelings. My kitty was showing signs it was time. However the front desk lady was very rude; my questions about my cat seemed to annoy her, or that my questions seemed silly or stupid. I have never lost an animal friend and was trying to get any info I could ie signs of pain, concerns, urinating after death? I just wanted to know a little of what to expect. All she cared about was bringing him in at a 96$ fee to then give me the info I asked... They quoted me a price for euthanizing a week prior and wouldnt honor that price even though it was merely 1 hour 20 min till regular price time started. I get they need to make money, but honestly they have made quite a bit in all the times my kitty was there. I was just hoping for some compassion. Clearly the front desk only cares about bringing in the money. I called Vista specialty that evening as well after being treated rudely by the front desk. They were truly amazing, talked to me for 30 min answering any and every question I could think of, they were not bothered with my crying and were sweet and comforted me with my big decision. When it came down to the decision, we decided to let him be at peace peacefully. And it was not with Meuller, I decided to bring him to vista where the experience although very hard for me; was amazing and they treated me like I was a client and family member for the past 5 years.....unlike meuller whom I have been a client for sometime. My 2 star rating again has nothing to do with the Medical or doctor side of Mueller. They are fantastic in that area and my other pets will continue to go here, Dr. Katara is the best , just after the other day I have no respect for the front office attendant who was working that evening.Read Less
