I started going here 4 years ago when we first moved to Sacramento and we really enjoyed having them as our vet. However, their service has declined. Recently, getting a prescription has been difficult. A couple months ago, I called and left a message to get a written prescription. Whoever listened to the voicemail didn't actually listen and thought I asked for the prescription to get filled. I had to call 4 times to get it straightened out and to finally get an update on my request. Every time I called, it was like I had to start all over. It seems like their staff don't communicate. Recently, I orders some meds online and one person told me they never received the faxed prescription request and when I called an hour later someone else told me the request was approved, signed by the vet and sent back. Also, it seems like Dr. Rana herself doesn't listen. When I asked her for a quote for a tooth extraction, she came back with a quote over $1,000 for a whole teeth cleaning! We have a 13 year old dog and she has health problems. At this point, we just want to keep her comfortable and don't want to move forward with diagnosis because at this point, there is no point. She has arthritis, three lumps and a bad liver. Every time we get her blood work done, Dr. Rana wants to immediately schedule us for an ultrasound to diagnose her liver problems when we have repeatedly told her we are not moving forward with diagnosis. Time to look for another vet. Read Less

This clinic sold me an EMPTY bottle of very expensive hormone medication that I give to my dog monthly. When I called to tell them so, they doubted my story, questioned my integrity, and basically did all but call me a liar. They told me that it was their policy that I would have to pay for another refill. I explained to them that the refill I paid over $190.00 for in early July (and which I hadn't ever opened until last night) was totally empty and had the words "in house" written on the bottle, they still told me that I would have to pay for a new refill, casting doubt on my story. I had to drive to the clinic with the empty bottle and prove it to them before the manager acquiesced and refilled my prescription at no cost. There was never any kind of explanation or apology, and initially they told me that there was no way it could have been a mistake on their parts because of their double-checking of prescriptions that go out. I told them that I would not be doing business with them again, and even at that comment, I got no response from the manager besides a nasty look. It's sad because I've been doing business with this vet for over 30 years. I will not go back there. Read Less

My girlfriend and I have taken our pets here (1 dog, 3 cats, several of our different pet rats) to be seen for various ailments and finally had enough of the crappy service from the staff. The doctor we usually see, Dr. Pazzi, has always been very nice to us and our pets but she has unfortunately hired a bunch of pricks as assistants. One woman in particular, an older woman who seems like a burned-out R.E.O. Speedwagon groupie, is particularly rude to us and is not the least bit helpful. Our dog gets a rash on inner thighs occasionally. We took her there and they did a skin culture and gave us antibiotics to help heal her thighs. The antibiotics ran out before the rash had disappeared. We paid for a second dose, which seemed to do the trick. A few weeks later, her rash reappeared. When we called to get a third dose, they told us we would have to pay for another office visit, culture and more antibiotics. After a little debate, they gave us more of the antibiotics. Recently, we hoped to get a prescription through this vet hospital for more heartworm medicine so that we could send it in to an online site that would fill it for us. Our dog was adopted from the SPCA, was given a heartworm test there, and it came back negative. We've had her on Sentinel since then. Long story short, they vet wouldn't fill the Rx, even after showing them proof, and they were incredibly rude about it. This was after different staff members told us that it wouldn't be a problem to give us the Rx. DO NOT GO TO THIS VET HOSPITAL. THEY ONLY SEEM TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT MONEY!!! Read Less

This place was terrible! The doctor was condescending and didn't take my dog's condition seriously at all and make a bigger deal out of the fact that she's a few pounds overweight than that she could hardly breath and her heart beats a mile a minute and could hardly sleep. I took her to another vet a couple weeks later and it turns out that my dog has a serious heart problem and needs a lot of help, medication, and maybe surgery. Waiting this long hasn't helped because the moron doctor's cavalier attitude to my dog's condition put me more at ease. I thought "Well, god, if she's more concerned about my dog's weight than her heart then it can't be as bad as I'm thinking it is." She had no idea what she was talking about! The other vet took one listen to her heart and was quite concerned. The woman at La Riviera was like "Yeah, she's got a bit of a murmur, bit of an arrythmia, you might want an ECG sometime." Avoid this place and go somewhere that actually care more about your pet and don't treat you like you're getting a tune up on your car rather than treating a member of your family. The doctor is a total moron. Read Less
