Vca Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center

Sacramento, California
General Info
Families in Sacramento depend on VCA Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center to create systems that function as environments rather than mere examinations by employing sound, movement, and space for choices throughout California. During the initial few minutes, as an object is placed in front of them, they watch it but do not touch it. Staff members observe the pets as they explore the corners and investigate gentle sounds for improved motions around detected movements. The diagnostic flow continuously adjusts. In cases where pets hold their breath or flinch at the neck contact during eye exams, the staff must rearrange the sequence of the office visit. The owner’s input regarding how the pet responds to the wind, how often it changes sleeping positions, and initiates contact at home assists every medical decision. VCA Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center offers services such as diagnostics, pain modeling and stabilization, mobility screening, environmental allergy assessment, preventive planning, and long-term stabilization for patients with chronic illnesses. The services are divided into time slots for animals (or they can be combined with decompression) needing to heal from overstimulated brains and bodies. Time-of-day patterns and home social environments also determine how people talk about results and adjust pacing. Follow-ups are not date driven but rather pet recheck driven (pets need to re-check until stable or appropriately balanced). Owners are given instructions on how cats behave in the initial three days after hospital visits. These behaviors include reduced stretching and slowed vocalization. If the routine changes and something starts to happen with the dog, or symptoms appear, it is possible to adjust via multiple communication channels. The VCA Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center performs veterinary services throughout Sacramento and neighboring California territories by interpreting what pet owners witness in between heartbeats, gestures, and moments of silence. The team provides specialized services such as Allergy Testing, Avian (Bird) Care, Behavioral Counseling, Bloodwork, and Boarding. Clients consistently commend the practice for its unwavering dedication and personalized attention to pets’ needs. From routine checkups to complex surgeries, the clinic guarantees your pet will receive top-notch care in a serene and friendly setting.

And when the beautiful emergency room doctor helped him over the rainbow bridge we locked eyes and she had tears in hers too. It takes a special person to be able to do that day after day. I rushed here early this morning at about 1am desperately trying to keep my little Lando responsive. I lost him as I hit the door & Jason took him & rushed him back to the team so CPR could be started. He came out to check on me, explaining that at Lando’s age even if his heart started again results would be poor but they would be willing to continue CPR. He was honest with me & with the information given, I let my baby go. He cleaned Lando up, wrapped him in another towel along with his blankie & brought him out to me. Jason was so compassionate & tolerant of my crushed heart, tears & babbling about my baby boy. He hugged us & thanked me for taking in all the special needs fosters I do. He softened the blow of my unexpected loss with his extremely kind words, actions, & tears. I will not forget him. Every emergency vet should have a Jason as the compassionate face we are met with at that door when we are desperate not to lose a piece of our heart wrapped in a blankie. Thank you, Jason. I experienced heartlessness here. My sweet amazing cat became suddenly ill in the middle of the night. I called and explained our method of payment was our parent's credit card to see if we needed to call my kitty's grandmother so she could give them permission. He explained that she needed to be there, wasn't possible because she is too far away. He said he could give us some numbers of other emergency clinics to "see if they'll accept this from of payment." At his regular VCA, he had been under treatment for a month and we spent thousands, our savings are gone and we maxed out our cards, but they loved him there and were so amazing. They accepted the credit card we had. My cat died in my arms 5 hours later and I'll never know if he could have been saved, I blame this clinic for not even being willing to see him and I blame myself for being honest with them. He looked like he was in so much pain, I'll never get that image out of my head. He was worth millions to me, and I would have been willing to live in a cardboard box to keep him alive. Tue Carmichael clinic saved his life, the Loomis clinic saved his life 5 years ago, but you guaranteed his death over a name on a credit card. Heartless. Read Less

More concerned with making money than treating my cat. I brought my cat here due to shortness of breath and some sort of eye infection. They charged $140 for the visit, and another $50 for a 10 day round of antibiotics. That was all great! Then..giving my cat a pill was comparable to having a root canal. He was not having any part of it. So I waited to see if the infection would get better with the 3 pills I managed to get down his throat. It didnt. I called the vet back and asked for the same prescription in the liquid form. They denied it and said I would need to pay the $140 exam fee again. Unbelievable! I will never go back there. Read Less

About 18 months ago our dog collapsed & couldn't get back up. We took her here because it was late night & no other vets were open. After many tests the conclusion was that she had cancer & probably only had 2 weeks to live or might not make it through the night. They wanted us to either rush her into surgery (which may have killed her because she was so weak), put her to sleep, or take her home to die. We choose to take her home, thank god. The first night was rough for her, but she progressively got healthier the next few days. Long story short, she is still with us today & I believe she got misdiagnosed. Read Less

In 2016 we had the sad experience of taking in 3 of our kitties to be put to sleep because they were old and their bodies were worn out. The kitties were a mom and her two kittens that we found in the bushes in 1998. They had good long lives and we found that this VCA facility being a 24 hour facility works best for us. When the time came for each kitty, we were able to take them in late in the evening when it was quiet and peaceful. We were allowed to take out time and the staff was respectful, as were the vets who administered the medication. We had each kitty cremated and they were returned in a beautiful wood box along with a colorful ceramic disc with their name and paw print. I hope to not have to repeat this experience for a long time, but will certainly return to this VCA facility. Thank you. Read Less

This review is long overdue and I apologize to the VCA. When my dog-son Moose was diagnosed with a life ending diagnosis abruptly at the age of 6 years old, the staff at VCA did an exceptional job of doing what they do. Every facet of their response was top notch, from a quick admission, taking nearly immediate action, helping me understand the decision I had to make, etc all the way through the follow up letter and plaster paw print. I cannot thank or recommend this organization enough - they made a horrible life experience as pleasant as possible for me and my family. Read Less

I have been going here for about the last 8-10 years, and I have always had great care for my pets -- and for me. One dog had complicated leg surgery. One dog had diabetes and an intestinal condition. One had respiratory problems. The cat had a cancerous mass on his ear. All have been treated well and compassionately. Even when we had to let a couple of them go, their final experience was loving and kind. A few of the general practice doctors have moved on, but I love Dr. Johnson and Dr. Wong who also steps in. The office staff and techs are so friendly and kind as well. My dog likes going there, gets excited to see Dr. Johnson, and has made friends with all the tech. Their services and specialty doctors are wonderful as well. I've often told them I wish I could come to them for treatment for myself.!! Read Less

VCA "Miracle"...extraordinary!!! As a dog owner / lover I can not thank the team at VCA enough! Everyone on staff here is truly remarkable- the folks at reception, super techs, and real life hero VETs ! The "doggie docs" at VCA referral are some of the most inspiring, caring and dedicated individuals I ( and my Labradors) have ever had the honor of knowing. I say this with great conviction as they have compassionately treated both of my dogs ...from puppyhood to senior days. The VCA vets saved my older dog's life ( twice) after a catastrophic spaying procedure gone wrong. After spending several months time in their gentle care my girl looked forward to seeing her VCA pals when we returned for follow up check ups! I am so grateful for all of the care and fine people that make VCA referral the miracle it is- They have saved my dog's life and cared for her and have been there to help, to cure, to support in the very worst of times: When my sweet dog, Chammie, had completed her spirited mission on earth - (a very happy long lived -love filled life ) the good souls at VCA referral, stepped up in every way - They did everything possible and more for my beautiful girl and then went beyond, on the human level, with great patience and sincere support...at the very worst of times. I will always feel grateful to Dr. Wong for his Incredible gift ...I felt as if he gave a small piece of his soul in effort to help my girl...which of course helped "Mom":). Talk about REAL human kindness... It does exist...At VCA referral. They are 110% committed to the well being and health of our beloved furry friends. Read Less

Read Less

These people gave my dog better care than any human ever receives in any hospital. They saved her life, twice, pulled for her, and not to mention how I observed them treat other animals whose owners weren't even around. Petting them and giving them love on top of the treatment they received. Dr. Chris Wong is a superstar and my personal hero.
