I am not someone that leaves a lot of negative reviews. Today I find it very important to do so. Dr. Heather Baker has unfortunately never been a nice vet, but this last experience with her was beyond horrible. Our horse was dying and she was extremely insensitive, unprofessional, and plain rude from the moment we called her asking for help. She literally doubled her emergency fee from our last visit just because she knew we had no other options and were in a time crunch to save our horse. When we asked her if she could breakdown the extra costs for us she actually started shouting and ranting that she did not have to explain herself because no one else will drive to Big Sur. We could not believe it. The yelling lasted so long we had to hang up the phone instead of being able to have a normal conversation with her. This is just the latest example of bad encounters we have had, but I don't have time to write a novel. Simply put, I cannot think of another time where I have experienced so much unprofessional behavior in my life. And always during times of dire need. After telling our story a couple times, I was mad to discover we are one of many families to be burnt by Dr. Baker. I wish someone had told us a long time ago, so now I am telling you. Do not call this woman if you want a vet that actually cares about her patients or if you want to be spoken to kindly/in a respectable manner. I cannot believe we waited so long to reach out to a new vet. Now we have an arrangement with this WONDERFUL and kind vet named Kate Brown that agreed to start making emergency calls to our remote area. She actually expresses concern for our animals and takes the time to answer questions. We feel safe, at ease, and genuinely cared about now that Dr. Brown is on our team whereas we were always afraid to approach Dr. Baker. Read Less
