It's hard to overstate how great it is to have Dena Eckerdt DVM and Prunedale Veterinary Services to take care of our animals. Dr. Eckerdt brings her considerable depth of experience and knowledge to bear on every issue your pet may present, from the least to the most challenging, without over-diagnosing, over-treating or over-charging. Her attitude of calm competence is carried through by her team of assistants (and if you don't get Larry the receptionist's sense of humor, you're missing out on a delightful personality). Though the clinic and staff are not large and they don't promise to be available 24-7-365, they communicate well and balance any limitations through their relationships with the local network of specialist resources. For example, recently Dena referred one of our 10-year-old greyhounds to a larger facility in Santa Cruz for more extensive imaging in order to get the most accurate pain diagnosis possible. With that information, she put together a treatment plan based on her hands-on traditional experience plus cutting edge laser therapy and had our boy walking like a 3-year-old again within two weeks, at a more than reasonable cost. There is absolutely no substitute for Dena's kind expertise and common sense. We are very lucky to have her and her crew in our neighborhood.

If your as crazy about you pets as I am, then this is the vet for you. Dr. Dena is the best, as is her staff. I know the vet cares for my dogs as much as I do, and everyone in this office is wonderful. Dr. Dena is very straight forward and explains everything too you so you know what shes doing. She never talks down to you. I came here from San Diego where I had the same vet for 23 years, now I will have Dr. Dena until she retires......in a very long time from now I hope.
