I worked with Animal Healing Center for several months after becoming discouraged with my traditional veterinarian. My 8 year old Puggle, Emma, had become suddenly afflicted with horrible skin rashes, itching, and ear/eye infections. Rounds of antibiotics hadn't helped. She developed tumors on her paws, and these were also treated as infections. AHC saw her several times (to the tune of hundreds and hundreds of dollars) and was prescribed a home made diet, fish oil, pro-biotics, a kelp supplement, and a few different Chinese medicine tinctures. She would have a vitamin B shot and an acupressure treatment which would help - for a few hours. Dr. Feely also thought she found lumps in Emma's chest and belly that were likely cancerous. This dog was miserable. AHC continued to take my money and Emma got progressively worse. She was bloated, sluggish, itchy, and in pain. She smelled terrible, in spite of twice weekly bathing with (expensive) medicated shampoo. She was taking 6-8 Benedryls a day, and still unable to stop the itching. When she started to tear her own skin off in agony, I knew we had gone far enough. I called an end of life vet and scheduled a home procedure. I called Dr. Feely and described the situation, and she validated my decision. When the end of life vet got to my house, she took one look at Emma and asked if she had ever been treated with Ketakonozole, for a yeast infection. I said no, no one who had ever seen her had suggested yeast. This new vet said she thought every one of Emma's symptoms could be related to yeast - even the lumps on her paws. She called in a prescription and we cancelled the euthanasia. Within 36 hours, Emma was a new dog. Her rash was healing, her eyes and ears cleared up, her appetite was back - and she didn't need Benedryl. She smelled like a healthy dog again. I had watched her suffer for months, and was ready to have her put to sleep - and a $30 prescription for a relatively common affliction is what cured her?! I was furious. To make matters worse, days later, I received a courtesy call from AHC reminding me of an upcoming appointment for Emma. I hadn't told Dr. Feely I had changed my mind; she thought I was going through with the euthanasia. For all she knew, Emma was already dead. Still, she apparently hadn't bothered to make a note in Emma's file about our decision, or to inform the office staff. If I had received that call AFTER I had let Emma go, I would have been devastated. I spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars here, and any regular vet should have been able to see what was really going on. This was handled so badly. Not impressed at all. Read Less
