I used this clinic because they were on the humane society list and the proximity to my office. The folks that work here are great, very thorough, explain things every step of the way. I took our rescue dog Frankie here, they did a full exam, neutered him, shots, 6mo flea treatment and extracted a couple teeth that were causing trouble for him.Considering everything that was done  cost was reasonable to be sure our new addition was healthy and ready to be with other dogs. The vet explained everything that was done and handed us a card with a cell number available til 9pm in the event of any problems. That was great! Never had a vet make himself available that late-- that's awesome, fortunately, we didn't need to call =) I highly recommend this clinic for your veterinary needs. Read Less

Dr. Bigelow and his team are dedicated to the health of all pets. There's pics of tarantulas in the clean and airy waiting area, I didn't know tarantulas needed vets. I was wrong. The staff is incredibly friendly, calm, patient, and organized. Our 7-y.o. Boston Terrier had a large skin tag on his abdomen that, while benign, was unsightly and was obviously starting to bother him. Dr. Bigelow arranged for surgery to remove it 2 days after the exam. Other than the the disorientation that Miles felt due to the anesthesia (I've been under the knife several times - I know how it feels coming out of sedation), he was fine. He got his stitches out yesterday in about 5 minutes, and I can tell he's visibly happier and more at ease. If you live anywhere in or near the Mira Mesa area, take your family member to see these folks, and rest easy that you came to the right place. From helping my stray-to-stay cat recover from a vicious attack from another cat, to check-ups and calling him overweight (which he is), this place has been great to my fur-baby. Pros: - Very thorough with their assessments, screenings, and check-ups. - Staff is very personable and seems to genuinely love all pets. - Very punctual with their appointments and returning phone calls. Cons: - Parking area is sometimes hectic, especially on the weekends. BUT, they do have a couple of designated spaces for those that are going to the clinic. - Cost is high... but that is most likely a very common thing with almost all veterinary clinics... and what is the real cost of keeping your fur-baby healthy?My experience with the staff at the Center Veterinary Clinic in Mira Mesa have always been nothing but positive. My first time with this clinic was when I had to bring in our now fur-baby, Mr. Kitty, in to be treated for his wounds he got from another cat (we named him that because we didn't think that we were going to keep him or that he would actually stay with us). The staff was quick with being able to schedule him in, and the doctor and the staff was very attentive. Fast-forward, he was able to recover quickly, he was able to get all his vaccinations, and we were able to micro-chip him. Yup, he now OUR kitty. No more being an outdoor cat. =)Anyways, the other times we have brought him in for check-ups, the quality of services have not faltered. They continue to be genuine, sincere, and detailed with their work. The venue is small, waiting room has a few chairs, but it has more open space to cater to dogs/cats that come into the waiting room. The parking area is generally hectic in the weekends. This plaza is being shared with Seafood City, a coin-op laundry mat, a liquor store, and a few places to eat. Parking gets crowded. The bright side to parking in this area is that if you are going to check into the veterinary clinic, they have 2 designated parking spots for their patrons... There are times when someone would park there because they are dropping off people for the nearby shops or the laundry mat, BUT this is a rare occurrence because the spots is VERY obvious that it is specifically for the clinic. And that security/the clinic are very punctual on who parks there and are able to get vehicles towed away quick. Obviously, finances to keep up with visits and treatments is always going to be expensive. They do their best to keep cost down while maintaining a good reputation with their patrons by online deals and frequent visit rewards programs. Would I go back to this clinic for future check-ups for Mr. Kitty? Of course. Other than this place is close by, they have been great to my fur-baby. If I had more expandable income (man, I need to get into that next level tax-bracket), I would definitely go to them to have them brush Mr. Kitty's teeth. You know how hard it is to brush a cat's teeth? Let alone trying to give them a bath? Not all cats are like those Instagram cats that are all chill with water. Read Less

WOW Mckenzie I just cant thank you enough, and Dr. Bigelow as well! In my eyes you saved my sons life and he'll be able to be normal again in a few months. My boxer dog Manny had torn his ACL. I was so worried him and I wouldn't be able to run together anymore and be active. Manny is my right hand man everywhere I go. This torn ACL was gonna change both of our lives if it didn't get fixed. Manny has pet insurance and they refused to cover it. Mckenzie did everything she absolutely could to get the insurance to change their mind. After two days of being denied, the third day they finally said yes, YES!! Surgery was expensive and because of Mckenzie, Manny was able to get his leg taken care of. Manny had surgery Wednesday 04/05 and so far he is doing great. Few more months and hes gonna feel like a new man. Probably take him to the dog beach since hes such a ladies man lol!I have been to 6 different Veterinary Clinics throughout Manny's lifetime and we all know finding one to trust is the hardest. You just always feel like they are trying to get more from your wallet. The staff here is absolutely amazing. Every single one of them is so genuine and kind. For the first time I'm comfortable with leaving my son with them if need be. I feel as if he is loved and not only him but every other dog/cat that is brought in. McKenzie, Dr. Bigelow, and the rest of the Center Veterinary Clinic staff, thank you SO MUCH! My 1 year old cat got into a big fight and came home at 2am with scratches and puncture wounds all over his body. His ear was also bitten and had a piece missing. He acted ok but I felt it was the right choice to bring him to a vet the next morning. I woke up at 730am to call 6 different vets to see their availability. Center vet only had an opening at 12pm and offered drop off for pets which was a plus because I had work that day. The staff is really kind. Dr. Bigelow also did a great job. Apparently my cat had a fever from infection. I had them clip up his fur and clean his wounds and paid for antibiotics as well as a test for FIV. I threw many questions at Dr. Bigelow and for the most part he was able to answer them. The services were quite pricey but I didn't mind because my cat is a lot better now. Pets are family and nobody should pay less for sub par treatment. My only other complaint is that exam rooms are not sound proof. I could hear the staff outside talking about my pet and that I was waiting in the exam room. I'm sure everyone out in the waiting room could hear me talk to the doctor. Patient confidentiality is #1 in my book having worked in an optometry office. Although my cat was the patient, I did not feel as comfortable with everyone hearing my concerns about my cat as I discussed with the doctor. Read Less

I just brought my cat kenji in today to get fixed. I'm so happy I found center vet. The staff is wonderful! I was very well informed before and after surgery and even received a phone call to tell me how my fur baby was recovering. After I took kenji home I had a few questions so I called and the staff was very quick to help and reassure me everything was normal. On December 24, 2016 we had a tragic event.  We lost our sweet Sophia.  We rushed her to Center Veterinary Clinic.  Dr. Bigelow and his staff were wonderful.  They did what they could but it was too late.  They were so kind and even took her paw print and we have this wonderful wood box with her ashes with her name on it.  I can not say enough of how much I appreciate them all for giving my daughter the times she needed with her puppy.  After all of that we started bring out other two pets here.  They are so wonderful with Asteria and Pumpkin.  They all truly know that this are not animals, these are family members. Me and my boyfriend take both of our dogs here. They are the best at what they do and i can definitely tell. I have 2 dogs, a maltese (6 years old) and an english bull dog (9 months) they both go to Dr. Bigelow! Who is amazing at his profession We have been going to them for only a couple of months but they have helped us out so much. They give all information, and they will answer all of your questions without rushing you like other vets I've experiences. Norman got neutered today and we were taken care of by Natalie, who is super nice and sweet and answered all of my questions this morning on the procedure and recovery process. She made me feel so comfortable, and suddenly trusted her with my pup. I highly recommend this place. We love Dr. B and his staff. They are all great. I've been bringing my basset here for a little over a year now and even he loves it. We found center vet after searching through tons of vets when my dog ate a rock when he was 7 months old. 2 other vets told me my puppy was going to die if I didn't pay 7k for surgery, I was devastated. After running a few tests and xrays, Dr. B found that in fact my dog was already digesting the rock and he would be fine. Not only did he save me thousands of dollars but he saved my puppy from having an unnecessary surgery he may not have made it out of. Thanks again guys!! Read Less

My 5 month old puppy Winston got neutered today and I felt very comfortable with the staff as well as the dr! I was searching for a better vet after my previous vet didn't take very good care of my cat after her spade. I love that they follow protocol and explain everything with great detail! I found this little gem through Yelp. Definitely a great clinic for my pup (and all pups). They usually take their last appointments on Saturdays at 1pm, but they went the extra mile to make an exception for my little guy. He needed a trim really bad. They got him in and out in a quick five mins. It was amazing. And in that short 5mins, You can just tell that the staff really loves what they do and are passionate about animal care. Searched long and hard for a new Dr. and Staff after grieving the loss of two of my babies ages 16 and 19 of illness in 2012. Criteria: Had to interact with love, compassion and gentleness to the parents as well as our fuzzy child and be totally transparent and informative to any queries regarding the health and well being of my new Kitten DALEWOLF. Waited awhile to deal with serious illness and upon equalizing - got our sweet little boy from the Helen Woodward Foundation, and found this office to be exactly the perfect group to care deeply and lovingly with all of us. It is a relief and a positive experience whenever dalewolf has had to visit the office. We are so fortunate Dr. B noticed, upon careful exam - an exposed tooth root - which could have created uncomfortable issues for dalewolf in the future. He was spot on and we immediately scheduled to have the tooth removed. Dalewolf bounced back within a few days to a happy, carefree little spirit and all due to the love and attention by the most loving staff and brilliant Dr. B. As a fuzzy child parent with issues, hearing & tinnitus being one of them, Dr. B gives great one on one contact for me to understand what is needed, and Dalewolf never complains when he is there. That is a huge plus, when our babies have the greatest sense of who is safe and who is not in the human world. We consider this office and this Doctor to be of the highest caliber in knowledge, interaction and gentleness. Best yet, all questions from we, the lay people are answered to allay any concerns we - who love our babies are experiencing. I have informed many looking for a new office for their babies to check it out. I give this office a very high rating as I have had the worst in experiences and this is the finest thus far. Give it check out people - you will not be disappointed, and your fuzzy babies will get the greatest of love, attention and care. Dr. B and his staff are really thorough and descriptive when it comes to your pets. My cat, Mr. Kitty got attacked by another cat and had some pretty deep puncture wounds in his paw. We called 5mins before closing the day before to see if we can bring in Mr. Kitty since he was running a fever and lethargic. They were so accommodating and the lady stayed with us on the phone to tell us about their drop in hours the next day.The next morning, I was able to drop off Mr. Kitty and the staff was very helpful in taking him to the back and then informing me of the examination procedures, the cost and the next steps after the examination. They also called my fiancé to include him into the conversation about medical prices and payment. By noon they were complete with Mr. Kitty and gave us sound suggestions and recovery instructions. Dr. B also talked to me about what happened to Mr. Kitty, what he found and what they did to prevent further infection. Mr. Kitty was up and running around a day after coming home!
