Colony Veterinary Hospital has taken such great care of my Golden Retriever. They are thorough and really take their time to listen to what is going on with your pet. Their prices are affordable and they work very hard to get your pet scheduled the same day if there is an issue and you want to be seen. The follow-up is amazing, they really, genuinely want to know how your pet is and that things, such as a medication, are working after your pet leaves. Dr. Vineyard and her staff are kind, professional and generally great to be around, making my dog much more comfy during a visit and for anything that needs to be done. I would not take my girl anywhere else, the trust I have with Colony Veterinary Hospital and their care of my dog can’t be matched. Read Less

deceptive, exceptionally expensive animal hospital. having worked nearly 10 years in a small animal hospital, i find this veterinary hospital practices very typical in the "art of being a veterinarian: charging clients for services their pets do not need" (to quote one of the senior vets whom i worked for). my friend had adopted two cats from a nearby animal shelter which had provided her referrals for 2 free feline exams at Colony Veterinary Hospital. both cats, respectively spayed and neutered, were given vaccinations to date and were healthy in all respects. Colony Veterinary Hospital should have been sufficiently grateful for a new animal owner as a new patron for prospectively 20 years. but.... it wasn't cue money greedy music.... $22 each for trimming feline nails! no, they did not ask if my friend would like that service done. the technician offered to do it during the free exams, without any mention of cost to which my friend agreed. the 6 month old felines did not need their nails trimmed although it did not hurt. so the vet comes into the exam room. she completes her examination of the felines and offers to trim their nails, to which my friend again agrees. then the vet, having taken up the nail trimmers and about to trim the feline's nails announces, "it's $22 to trim the nails"... ...my friend had already agreed that what was inferred as a complimentary and part of the free exam, trimming feline nails, could be done. but the veterinarian deceived her in typical "art of being a veterinarian" style and turned what was part of a free exam into a $44 charge. $22 to trim feline nails???? back in the 90s, the practice i worked at only charged $9, when the client requested it. their are respectable animal hospitals with honorable veterinarians. Colony Veterinary Hospital is not one of them. Read Less

Everyone is extremely nice, they acknowledge you and your pet by name, and everyone always seems to be in a pleasant mood when you walk in.Aside from the everyday experience, I had a not so typical experience. I received a devastating diagnosis for my fur baby tuna. He was found to have oral cancer and I was told that he would decline rapidly. Dr. Vineyard and her team were so kind to me after I got the news. Dr. Vineyard even call me when she was out of the office to check in to see how Tuna and I were doing. I asked a lot of questions and wanted to know as much as I could since putting down your loved pet is not a light decision. Dr. Vineyard and her staff made sure I was well informed (including costs for every option as well as what they would do if it were their pet), gave me a bunch of information on the diagnosis and alternative services for putting your pet to sleep outside of the clinic. I appreciate the patience and kindness I was showed during my most difficult time. When I decide to get another fur baby, I will definitely come here. Read Less

Our cat has developed a condition where she over-grooms herself to the point of causing sores. We have since learned from another vet that this was most likely because of iv fluids containing dextrose, which she received here.  When we originally brought her in to address the large back sore (where she received iv fluids), the vet suggested that she had to wear a cone for a couple months.  Our cat has a surgery before and a cone drastically affected her quality of life, and she became very depressed/skittish/nervous. The vet very callously scolded us at the idea of putting her in wound wear clothing instead. I don't see how we should not be concerned for her overall quality of life. She is a sensitive cat and can be somewhat anxious. When the wound healed completely (while in her wound wear, I might add), our cat was still trying to get at the same spot on her back, so we brought her back in again.  The vet here suggested we cut out the skin and biopsy it.  To us, this really felt like the wrong thing to do, because we felt that it was more of an anxiety or nervous disorder based on her behavior patterns. The vet didn't seem to be interested in the whole story, and as usual, dismissed our thoughts on it.  She always seems to be in a hurry to rush us in/out. In the time after we refused the surgical biopsy, our cat started finding new spots to pick at, her belly, legs, arms, etc. She over-grooms as a calming mechanism, after big spats of twitching/spasms. I've always compared it to a bird who plucks its feathers to release endorphins as a coping mechanism.  Since then, we've visited a new vet, who confirmed just what we had thought, but even further linked it to her iv fluids, containing dextrose, as it's a very common reaction, and the reason he doesn't fluids with it.
