Kensington Veterinary Hospital

San Diego, California
General Info
Kensington Veterinary Hospital in San Diego constructs each care encounter upon the pet's perception of space and reaction to vocal tones combined with stimulus integration which enables California households to follow with assuredness. Upon arrival animals undergo observational check-in processes that assess their responses to scent layers flooring textures eye contact and nearby movements instead of just medical evaluations. Clinicians modify examination procedures when posture signals and handling feedback indicate restlessness or breath changes, causing them to slow down or pause. Examinations entail intricate assessments of fur thickness along with bodily moisture levels and muscular structure while evaluating limb reaction, dental surfaces, oral temperature, and abdominal pliability. Owners receive invitations to discuss recent home behaviors—subtle shifts in daily rituals combined with vocal modulation and energy flow provide information for subsequent actions. Kensington Veterinary Hospital delivers structured diagnostics along with immunizations and pain tracking while providing aging wellness protocols and collaborative illness mapping. Flexible appointments enable either single-step visits or multi-day staging based on the emotional capacity of both animal and household. A range of visual communication tools including diagrams, tracking calendars, and photo logs are integrated to maintain communication across patient visits. The essence of follow-up care transforms from simple reminders into complex dialogues. Check-ins depend on behavioral settling instead of simple time measurements. Pet owners receive instruction on monitoring sensory regulation alongside activity re-entry following visits to ensure they can manage pets who either withdraw or externalize behaviors after stimulation-heavy experiences. Kensington Veterinary Hospital delivers veterinary services throughout San Diego and nearby California regions by initiating awareness-based care that respects home routines while maintaining physical and emotional limits from beginning to end.

I am a retired head vet tech, and I'm extremely picky of where I take my pets. I demand the same level of excellence from others that I demanded of myself. At Kensington, the quality of care (latest medical technology and practices, fantastic customer service, and genuine kindness and TLC shown each pet) is so hard to find all in one package. Top this off with some holistic services as well, and this is the very best place I can find in the San Diego area! Read Less

Came recommended by several friends with pets- very sweet and caring staff and doctors. This was my first dog so I was nervous about finding a good vet but they have been great! Not pushy about selling you products or services that aren’t necessary. Small establishment with a very nice staff and caring veterinarians but we found Kensington not too responsive when it comes to their website (data entry), and a bit costly. Neither "the new client form" or "make an appointment" worked when we entered our pets information online. Eventually, I called to book an appointment. When I arrived the vet was wonderful and the staff professional and polite so not a big deal however, since we both have a very busy schedule my wife and I have grown accustomed to using online services. Still their care was very good.It wasn't until our move to the La Jolla/PB area, which required another change in vets, that we noticed the prices of Kensington were a bit on the high-side.Overall: If you're a resident of the area and are looking for a good old fashioned veterinarian then Kensington would be probably be a good choice. My pets have never been patients of KVH, but when I was in a bind needing an OTC medication and our vet is in Oceanside, my neighbor who is a client of KVH, suggested I call. At first, the lady on the phone said my pet would have to be examined. When I said that what I needed was OTC, and I asked if perhaps I could just purchase a bottle, she put me on hold and asked someone. She returned, was very pleasant, asked my name and my pet's name and weight. Then she said I could pick it up in 30 min or so. What a wonderful place! I said that very day that if I ever lost our vet, whom we have followed for well over 10 years, this is the place I would come. I had recently a similar situation develop, and the staff were just as accommodating as they were a year and a half ago or so. Read Less

Took care of my lil' o' chili. I get concerned when a procedure involves full sedation. Dealing with removing teeth is a never ending situation with long term care of cats, so finding a reputable and competent vet is important. For reasons unknown to me, vets apparently have a weird multiple paged and initialed signoff on oral surgery where you agree to an open ended release to take care of additional work that may be needed. My previous vet of 10 years had a addled brained apprentice joke her way through it -- I packed my cat and never went back. Here it was done professionally, and in the end -- we all got through it with no drama.Read Less

The service here is wonderful. I never felt rushed at all; the vet and techs talked to and played with my cat, and made it seem like he was the only patient they had to see all day. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly, all my questions were answered, and even the cat had a (relatively) good time. I would recommend them in a heartbeat. Read Less

My kitties Dj Bunny and Foxy Nittles saw many of the vets at Kensington for our last 5 years in San Diego. They are by far the best vets I've ever experienced! I still miss their care after moving away 1.5 years ago. Kensington vets care and are compassionate on top of providing excellent and affordable care. They integrate a holistic approach into traditional medicine for a better quality of care.

I love KVH and Dr. Valdes. She is the best vet I have ever been to. She obviously cares, doesn't push services and is very knowledgeable. I'm so glad I left Bodhi and switched to KVH.
