Used to love this place. Brought my 4 cats here for years. One had an emergency this week and they were booked, which was what it was. I could get him into an emergency room nearby. I did not appreciate the lecture how his condition was potentially life threatening. I knew that which was why I wanted to bring him in. Called Morena the next day for a follow up dental for a suspected tooth abcess and was told it would be a 3 month wait. I tried to explain it was kind of urgent and was basically told I was out of luck by reception. They could not even suggest another place to take him. All this on top of a 2 hour wait last fall for a routine exam makes it clear this is not the place for me or my pets. It's a shame because the vets are very good. Read Less

Highly recommend for high quality knowledge, warm care, and communication of information and reasonable and accurate price estimates. My 9 yr old little dog was very sick and dehydrated, took her to previous vet who did xray, fluids, labwork and stuck me for an $800 bill saying it was from something she ate or pancreatitis! Next day I picked up records and went to Morena Pet Hospital for 2nd opinion and referral as new vet (from a retired vet). They fit me in, very careful visit and communication, and diagnosed as pancreatitis from over-vaccinating my dog the week before. The original vet said nothing about relationship to vaccines. My dog can be exempt from vaccines. Morena Pet Hospital is quality care, compassion, prices and communication. Read Less

I took my 2 dogs in, mainly for flea treatment, and wanted to get in as soon as I could. Marcie suggested I drop them off that same day and they would call me when the dogs were done. That worked for me.I picked them up later that day and had a nice chat with Dr. Steib. She had also called me earlier, after their exams, to tell me what was what. I had the option at that time to choose which treatments I thought were necessary. When I returned to pick them up, Dr. Steib let me know how everything went and if follow-up was necessary, which it was. All in all, I was very happy with the friendly service at Morena. I've been going there for many years with various cats and dogs and now Dr. Steib is carrying on the good service I have always received. They have a great team there! Read Less

This review is long over due, but with recent circumstances it was time to acknowledge this place. My kitty Byrin came to this Vet a handful of times. They have always taken the initiative to call me after his visits and make sure my love was feeling better. I would stop in for his food pick up and they would comment on how cute his profile picture was or ask how he was. This past Sunday, my beloved fur animal passed away suddenly. I called to ask if I could return the food since I was no longer in need and they of course said yes.With in 1 hour, Dr. Steib called giving her condolences and trying to ease some discomfort by stating sometimes silent heart disease gets the best of our beloved animals. I appreciated that fact she try to give an answer to a hole left in my heart.Than to top it off, I received a card once again from the Morena pet hospital, especially Dr. Steib. Laura (Tech) and Dr. Steib are great!! The first time I met Dr. Steib I was a crazy dog mom. I was upset his regular vet had left and I wasn't thrilled to be starting over with a new vet. I got my dog from a rescue when he was three (now almost 13.) He came from an abusive home and has his quirks. The drama comes out in full effect when he is at the vet or groomer. They are patient and so sweet but more importantly (to me anyway) they are knowledgeable and provide excellent care. Dr. Steib had to do a bowel obstruction surgery a few years ago and did a fabulous job. We are more "regulars" than I would like but I am glad I can rely on them and not worry they will work the heart stings to drive up unnecessary bills like other facilities sometimes do. I was happy to recently hear she is now the owner! Hopefully that means she is staying awhile. Review based on the med techs and veterinarians, not necessarily the front desk staff. They can be hit or miss- not always friendly or on top of it. Don't let it stop you from getting great care for your pet. Read Less

I was extremely pleased with the service I received at Morena Pet Hospital. I am new to town and I was nervous about finding a new vet. The front desk was able to get me scheduled quickly for an appointment which started things off great for me. Upon arrival the check in process was easy. When they called me back, the vet tech was thorough with her questioning and initial exam of Flash. She was also very careful and gentle with her. When Dr. Steib came in she talked directly with Flash helping her to feel happy and comfortable and then Dr. Steib spent a very lengthy time with us getting to know Flash's history, current problems, examining Flash and explaining options steps we should take. I was then given an extremely reasonable written estimate for testing required before any additional "work" was done. I really appreciated knowing the details of the cost before the testing was done. They took Flash to the back to complete the testing while I paid my bill. They brought Flash up to me and we went on our way. The following workday Morena Pet Hospital called to check on Flash and Dr. Steib called herself to give me Flash's test results. I am so pleased with my visit at Morena Pet Hospital and would recommend them to everyone!Read Less

I just moved to the area and took my dog in, due to ongoing skin irritations that I knew would require a lot of tests and medications. However, I felt comfortable with the vet, Jeanne Potter. She was friendly, explained options thoroughly and I felt that she genuinely cared about my pet.  She and her staff followed up quickly with the test results, which were all good.  In the waiting room I noticed that one person was acting demanding and loud but I loved the way she handled it.  Instead of a tech dealing with the guy, she stepped in and calmed the situation down by addressing his concerns in a professional, calm and sincere way.  My first experience was great and I will be returning! I got my dog neutered here and Dr. Mahlberg was awesome. She was very thorough and even called to check in with me before the surgery. However, I will not be taking my dog back to this vet because I told them I needed a certain type of heart worm medicine that I could only order through 1-800-Pet-Meds. 1-800-Pet-Meds needs vet approval before they can ship any perscription. Morena informed me to bring my dog in for a $40 heart worm test and if his results came back negative they would give the approval to 1-800-Pet-Meds. They gave me the run-around for over a week and never ended up giving approval to 1-800-Pet-Meds. They told me they were unable to do so. When I told them that they were the ones that told me to bring my dog in for a heart worm test so that they could okay the prescription, they changed their story. Now they could write a written prescription but they couldn't fax it or email it to 1-800-Pet-Meds. I ended up having to make an additional trip to the vet to pick up the written prescription and mail it into 1-800-Pet-Meds myself. Then, come to find out, they didn't even write the correct prescription so now I have to start from the beginning. As a result of their poor customer service in this issue I will not be returning. We've been bringing our two cats to Morena Pet Hospital for a few years now and they are always so easy to deal with. One of our cats is prone to UTIs and they are SO good about comprehensive care! He gets the medications he needs in a timely manner and he is on a special diet that is incredibly helpful for preventing flare ups. I am from out of town and the service they gave me and my pet was outstanding. Dr Steib is an angel! Staff is wonderful. I had an emergency and they took us right away, stayed late, communicated all costs and options and possible outcomes for my dachsund with a ruptured disk. Dr. Steib's initial diagnosis was confirmed later by an MRI by a neuro vet. She was spot on without the MRI which is excellent vet care in my book! Read Less

My dog had licked her paws raw; I took her in to Morena PH when sores became evident and there was no way to prevent the causing behavior. I was very pleased with the facility and everyone I came in contact with. My only complaint is that although the cause of the excessive licking was most likely a contact allergy, I was talked into two tests to rule out other causes costing over $60. I declined a blood test that would have cost even more. The treatment for allergy and secondary infection has been very successful and I will use this pet hospital in the future; declining tests that don't affect the most probable cause of presenting signs and symptoms. Absolutely beside myself how to react to the event How can I say this without sounding disrespectful. We'll first and foremost I am grateful that my best friend is alive after almost having his leg torn off by a pit bull. I was able to break them apart and carry my dog away as the pit bull kept coming at us all the way to my front door as I lifted my 73 lbs Labrador retriever into safety. My first responder skills that I learned with the Volunteer Fire Dept. quickly came into play as I next wrapped a truncate around Rueger's mangled front right leg to stop the gushing blood. Rueger's 8th birthday was on 3/12/15. 5 days later on St. Patricks day we got lucky all right! No one died... Quickly I rushed Rueger a block away to the closest animal hospital for emergency care. I was desperate to have him treated but not at all emotionally or financially equipped for what came next. After carrying Rueger into the operation rm I asked the Dr. / Vet about different options to keep the cost down like getting stitches through humane society, they would not do that. I had no choice but to max out my brand new credit card that I just made my first payment on earlier that day. The estimate was outrageous and knew that when I made a suggestion to bring in my own bandages and cone to save on the bill the girls got snooty and snobby. They said to return in a week for a bandage change "no charge" they said. So i returned they changed bandage then Crystal Steib gave me the bill: $31.50 for 1 small bandage. "Oh no"i said "you said no charge". They said if i don't pay they will send to collections. These bandages cost around $2 at pet stores or tractor supply is where i got mine. I took 2 of the same unwrapped vet wrap bandages back to them on my third visit to replace the one they used. They still wanted to bill me for the bandage they said was going to be free. Please don't let Morena pet hospital get away with this highway robbery. I took the stitches out even tho they said that would be no charge either. Yeah right. I am so grateful that I have found such a wonderful vet to take care of my dogs. Dr. Steib is knowledgeable, thorough, caring and very compassionate. She took the time to explain everything and I know Bailey was in wonderful hands during his surgery. He is normally terrified and shakes the whole time when I take him to the vet but that's not the case at Morena Pet Hospital. I guess dogs just have a way of knowing. He seem very comfortable there and has recovered just like Dr. Steib said he would. He is much more confident with the bad teeth gone and the ones left behind clean and healthy! When I adopted my Bailey, I researched several local vets to get a feel. This is the one I went for. I found everyone friendly and very caring. Even their greeter dog! When I had to bring in Bailey for a bee sting, keeping in mind this was an emergency run, I was surprised how inexpensive it was. (Some vet offices care more about money than the care). An emergency visit, shot, observation and take home prescription. I was expecting a $400 or $500 bill. Not even close! Some of my neighbors have left the vets they were using and switched.
