I have been coming here for 3 years have my dog spayed here then she starts having incontinence issues at $50 a bottle I got it a lot cheaper online 3 years later she still having incontinence issues but they're worse I've been saving up to get this ultrasound done with contrast to see what's going on got her in here they did the ultrasound without contrast therefore they cannot diagnose her tell me how to take it to a specialist. While collecting my records waste of money and why did they do this to me I was told the doctor was busy she walked away to talk to someone else behind her then the next lady steps up to the desk looks right past me to the person behind me so technically I just got blown off they made their $420 off me knowing that they could not get the diagnosis that I needed and that I saved up being I'm on Social Security disability that's a lot of money that's half of my income a month but they don't care they made their money and my dog is still having incontinence issue. There's a vet in Lemon Grove where you can get shots a lot cheaper without a vet visit fee I believe it's the one that's behind Food 4 Less I would go there instead because there's no love here they're just about money not pets Read Less

I had my dog neutered today. I was told that i would be receiving a call from them when he was ready, but i didnt. After a worrisome day of waiting for my boy, it grew later and later. I realized that it was 5 pm at this point, and still not a call. I checked their closing hours and had saw they close at 5:30, so I decided to call them to ask on the status of my dog and if he was almost ready to be picked up, only to be greeted with an attitude by the woman who answered the phone. The woman said “We dont call. He has been ready since 4 pm, and we close in 20 minutes”. I live in Chula Vista.. It takes me about 25 minutes to get there, so i tried to hurry there as fast as possible. Around 5:30, i got a call from them with the audacity to ask how much longer i was going to be. I finally get there at about 5:35, and all of the staff are lounging around in the lobby waiting to go home, with an obvious irritation that they are there 5 minutes past closing because of me. Oh lord, did it take every bone in my body not to lose my mind on them. Well, MAYBE if i had received the call i have been waiting on ALL DAY for, you wouldn’t be leaving work 7 minutes late. Excuse the hell out of me for not getting a call when he was ready to go home. I am definitely switching his primary care after this experience. Read Less

I scheduled an appointment for my dog to receive a giardia test because she had been around a dog who was diagnosed with it while I was out of town. When I arrived 10 mins before my appointment it still took them about 40 mins just for my dog to be seen. After all that time the vet came and checked her vitals then AFTER told me to come back in two weeks for her to receive a giardia test because he didn't want a false reading. Fine I understand that, but I was still charged for a $50 exam and that's not what I scheduled her appointment for. Also they were faxed her exam results that was taken less than 24 hours ago from her visit to the emergency room for an unrelated cause. I don't see why I was charged for another exam within 24 hours nor was I asked permission to receive an exam although my pet would not be able to receive the test she was scheduled to receive. I could have been told over the phone to wait 2 weeks to schedule an appointment. Then the receptionist got an attitude and told me the vet can't diagnose the per over the phone. Obviously I know that he problem is she wasn't even seen for what she was scheduled and he didn't diagnose her with anything. Then she charged me without giving me my military discount and just walked off without letting me schedule her appointment in two weeks. I do not support businesses that don't realize without my business they have no income. I don't recommend this hospital. Read Less

Called and got an appointment right away for my newly adopted cat.  I received great service from the staff and the Doctor.  They informed me of all the treatment options and then let me decide what I wanted with zero sales pressure!  The Doctor even waived the $48 exam fee since this was my first visit and I was adopting a local cat.  I'm happy I chose Pet Hospital of NP. I came here for my dog. She hasn't been feeling too well and we are new to the area so I wanted a vet that was affordable and great since bills do add up. We got bloodwork done and the doctor called the next day after the results came in and let me know what was going on and what medication he was going to prescribe my old girl. Medication was ready almost immediately and I can tell a great change in her behavior and how she's been feeling. I will continue to take her here. We brought in our new puppy to get checked.  The staff was very friendly.  From the front desk to the assistant and the vet.We were able to make a next day appointment and while there someone was able to walk in.They answered all of our questions and concerns and we didn't feel rushed at all.  Prices were reasonable and far less expensive than what we are used to paying for in Seattle.The waiting room is snug, but they have ample on site parking in a nice area close to shopping and restaurants.  Hoping we don't have to return and the rest of our vacation with our newest member will be uneventful, but if not and we have to come back I won't have a problem returning here.I was hesitant once I read some of the reviews, however did not find anyone short, or rude but very concerned and empathetic to those calling or checking in. We've been here twice for our husky, and both times were positive experiences. The first was when we got him neutered, and they had the lowest cost around as well as a clean facility that allowed him to have a safe surgery with a quick recovery. The second time was today, and we want to give a huge thank you to the lady at the front desk (never got her name, but it was around 4pm on Friday 6/23!) My boyfriend clipped one of our husky's nails too short and we were in full panic mode about the bleeding. She took care of us and was informative and overall we are just so happy to have found this facility in San Diego. Read Less

I'm new to the area, and so don't have a vet for my dogs here. My 6 month puppy got sick on a weekday and I decided to find a vet and take him in immediately. Stopped at VCA where the receptionist was rude and said there was no appointments for at least a week. So I saw this hospital and called to ask if they accepted walk ins. The receptionist was very nice! And said they did. She was so nice when we arrived, and we waited about 20 minutes to be seen. The doctor was also nice, and didn't try to rack up the bill. He said we would go one step at a time with testing. Not like other places where they try to have you test the most expensive things first! The nurse was also so lovely to our dog. Turned out he had a parasite and they gave him meds, he's all better now! This will be our new vet in north park. Read Less

I will never go back to this vet. They employees are very unprofessional, have lack of communication, and come off as they dont know what thier doing. i brought my puppy in for his 3 day check up cause he wasnt feeling well, he ended up having to stay over night for 2 nights, they didnt tell me anything that was going on. my dog ended up passing and they waited over a day to call and let me know. very disappointed, and i feel as if my puppy was not watched and taken care of properly. I'm out of town and tried to get my dog's blood pressure prescription filled here. My dog has a prescription from my licensed veterinarian and is on blood pressure medication for the rest of her life. They said I had to bring my dog in for an exam in order to get the prescription filled. My vet was furious when I told him this shady place wouldn't fill it with his signed prescription and without charging for an exam. They denied my dog her medication because I wouldn't pay them extra. I was able to get the prescription filled at CVS down the street, no exam required and no thanks to these greedy, insensitive, compassionless a-holes. This place is a scam. Read Less

My husband and I are new to San Diego and recently purchased a pup here. I searched for the nearest vet , I went by the reviews on google and most of the people spoke nicely about the pet hospital .I'm so glad I did not come to Yelp first , or else I wouldn't have gone. When I called the receptionist she was very knowledgeable and patient when it came to the questions I asked her . Once I arrived , the office was smaller than I expected but super clean . The staff was amazing, especially the vet tech Mrs. Lavana ( not sure if I spelled that correct ). They did a fecal test and they made sure to call both my husband and I at 9am this morning (I believe they open at 8:30) Needless to say , My girl Lilly will be a regular patient as long as we are stationed here and I'll be sure to suggest them to our military friends !! Avoid visiting this place. This pet hospital needs to be shut down. The staff is not professional, has a lack of communication skills, lack of ability to remove the ticks from the dog and has a lack of principles of veterinary medical ethics. I got a Siberian Husky puppy, the age of 9 weeks. The store where I got him from has recommended me this hospital. My first visit was intended to do the physical test and the poop analysis. My second and third visitation was for the dog's vaccination. At my third visit, when my dog received a 2nd vaccination, the vet assistant told me that in another month the last vaccination's due is coming and ONLY after that shot, I will be able to take my dog outside. The problem was a lack of communication from the doctor and his assistants to us. This is my first dog (Doctor was aware of this fact), and I was not warned by Dr. that I CAN NOT take the dog outside to play with other dogs, or to take the dog to the park BEFORE THE THIRD (FINAL) VACCINATION. Thankfully, the dog is healthy and did not get any illness. Another problem was also a lack of communication from the doctor and his assistants to us. When the doctor assistant could not even explain us the side effects of the medicine that we got, she just pointed out to the paper.Next problem occurred when my dog got some ticks after the hiking. Two days after the hiking my dog was not feeling well, had often urination and the low level of energy in the morning. While I was petting him I have discovered one big tick. I rushed to this hospital to seek for a help. I have explained to Dr. Contantino the issue and after few minutes of checking he returned and told me that, all ticks have been removed and I needed to come back in a week to do a blood analysis. I trusted the doctor since he has experience and knowledge. When I came back home I have discovered another tick while petting the dog. I had to drive back to the hospital again and I had to point out to the doctor's assistant where is the tick and ask them to accurately check the dog and remove any ticks. After their sec0nd investigation of ticks, I got my dog back and I decided to check him right on the spot before I go back home. AND I have found another tick AGAIN! I called an assistant to remove it. If I would just trust the Dr. Constantino and his assistants, who know what would happen to my dog after having a bunch of ticks on him for another two weeks. The ticks can be harmful to humans as well and can cause intense itching, secondary skin infections as well as some seriously fatal illnesses.My solution was a new hospital. At the new place, the doctor told me that the flea and tick preventions which were used for my dog (recommended by Pet Hospital of North Park) were only a FLEA prevention. The doctor recommended the product for internal use against ticks and fleas, which is a better alternative for the dogs with a long fur. Lastly, another problem that the staff has a lack of principles of veterinary medical ethics. Abode mentioned problems clearly indicating this fact. I would not be surprised if one of the vets will be sued for negligence, deceit, and unfair business practices.The only person who was professional and helpful in this hospital is Dawn. Very nice Vet Hospital. Great staff and the doctor and her assistants are very informative. Not pushy like some other vets. They give you options and break down the prices of everything. Vaccines and Pet medicine can get very expensive so it's nice to have a place understand and give you the pricing in advance. You can see that the whole staff really cared about my Lulu Valentine. If you check in online they offer a $10 off exam on Yelp. Also make sure to ask for any specials they may be offering. She does different offers every month. Read Less

I had been here several times, which were fine, especially the assistant Kevin, and I liked Dr. O.Four days ago I took my elderly cat in because I suspected a UTI.  After a 30-second exam, they drew blood and urine.  Next day, I got the lab report - bacteria in the urine and indications of beginnings of kidney failure.  Prescribed Clavamox (and kd), but have to wait for the culture to be sure it's the right med.  Supposed to get the results of the culture today (Tuesday).  Kitty is throwing up and has diarrhea, so I needed to get the results to maybe change the antibiotic and/or address the side effects.  I started calling in the morning and continued all day, with the promised callback never happening.  Called at 5 p.m., told the doc has the results and will call.  No call.  7 p.m. they are closed.  Looking for another vet. I was a little nervous to bring my puppy in after reading all of the reviews but my experience was the complete opposite of most of these reviews. I got my 9 month old husky neutered here. Dropped him off at 730. Front desk was polite and courteous. Made the process very easy and went through the cost of everything. Small waiting area but it was early and no one was in.I didn't expect him back til 4 or 430 but they called and let me know he was finished and I could come and get him which was great. Checkout was just as easy as the check in just a little busier. Called me the next day to check in on him. Overall really good experience. Read Less

I take all 3 of my animals in and they always make sure to take great care of them and are very easy to work with.My dog Ed had surgery and I was very worried given that he is 11. I went to other vets and never felt comfortable with it until I stopped here and spoke with Dr. Osawa. It also feels good to help out a local business. I have never had any issues with this place and I feel their customer service has gotten better with every visit. Dr Osawa has always made an effort to try the least expensive, minimally invasive options first before jumping to more extreme alternatives anytime we have brought our dog in with an issue. So far, the little things have done the trick and we haven't requires more serious measures. The staff is always very calm and accommodating to our dog that gets very nervous at the vet. We've never been treated like we were a problem or hardship on them. All in all, a great little vet we will be using for the lifetime of our dog. Read Less

Horrible experience. They need to tend to the whining dogs in the back. While this was happening there was about 5 employees joking and hanging around near the front desk. Fix the air conditioning. Yes it was a very hot day but I shouldn't be sweating inside the office, makes me wonder how comfortable the dogs were. Then while talking to the vet I felt like he was a salesman, he mentioned so much b.s. I needed I almost started to laugh. I took my dog Roxy there because there was some swelling in her eye. The clerk never greeted me and they seem to not want to be there. The doctor and the staff were very cold and did not seem to care about my dogs well being. After the first check up I end up paying nearly $250 which I did not mind because I love my dogFast forward a week and I go do a follow up and they tell me they don't know what's wrong with Roxy but still charge me a re check up fee. I find that ridiculous because I did not get any new information and was sent somewhere else where I'll have to pay a even pricier fee for a specialist. The staff was really rude the second time around. When I asked about a credit of some sort because I didn't learn anything new nor is my dog in better health but I have to pay because of what? I took 5 minutes of their time to tell me they don't know what's going on? The medicine that I received did not help my pup but they tell me that the medicine may be preventing it from getting worse which they absolutely cannot prove because I am in the same position I was in before, except I've already forked over $300!!! Because it's not getting worse or getting better then that must mean it's working?!?! What kind of logic is that. I took my Border Collie into this office because the breeder I bought him from had a 1 year health guarantee, so I told her I would take the dog to her vet and she would help pay for some of it. Well THANK GOD she did! If you care about your animal I suggest going somewhere else. I was told to show up almost half an hour earlier than any employee, I was not happy about this either, and when they did show up it was the least organized clinic I have EVER been too. People who showed up 45 minutes after me were getting seen first. LAST AND CERTAINLY NOT LEAST- when the vet went to remove the testicle from my dogs abdomen she cut into his lymph nodes because she "thought it was the testicle"- Are you freaking kidding me? You're a vet and you don't know where a dogs lymph nodes are? Ohh yeah and when they spayed him and stitched him up, they did it in a way so that my dogs dick is crooked and hangs to the left. This place is a SCAM. If you care about your animal as if it was your son like I do then you won't give this place a second of your time. I scheduled an appointment for a general check up so it wasn't like I NEEDED to be seen that same day. When I asked if I could come in she did tell me their afternoon appointments were booked, if I really wanted her to squeeze me in I would have to expect to wait awhile to be seen. Or.....I could take an open appointment the following day where my wait time would be very minimal if any. I chose the next day and wasn't even finished filling out the form when my dog's name was called. Now maybe I just happen to pick a day when business was slow but it's not too often that any kind of doctor's office scheduling is right on time. (I expect to wait at least 20 minutes at my own doctor appointments, who doesn't?) Anyway, the visit went well. The doctor is friendly, the staff are nice - and I could tell they all work together well. They handled the "emergency" quite well, especially for not being an actual E R. The doctor there was great, he has a positive attitude and was even willing to stay there after hours to do surgery on my dog. I was not "sent away" or referred to another hospital because it was near closing time. My dog stayed overnight and the next day when I picked him up he looked like a sewn up puppet - but he is ALIVE and I appreciate every one who works at this place who helped. Read Less

Dr. Osawa is an awesome vet! My dog has had a very bad stomach condition since birth and every time it flares up it is very painful for her...its kind of like puppy colitis. We have been to several different vets over the past 7 years to try and diagnose and prevent the flare ups, and they always prescribed harmful steroids and antibiotics. When we took her to Dr Osawa he took the time to thoroughly research the condition and prescribed a medicine called sulfasalazine which has been AMAZING! We haven't had a problem since!
