Met one other dr awhile ago and was not happy with her. Seemed like she had no idea what was going on with the puppy. Dr. Cooper knew straight away when I went to her for second opinion. Since then only see her for my dog.

We have taken our pets to them for over 20 years. I think they do a good job. The vets are excellent and they will discuss options for the treatment of your pet. My experience is that they don’t push unnecessary treatments or vaccinations but suggest the best course. All our pets have been cats, so I can’t say for dogs. They are usually open a few hours on weekends which is very convenient.

The veterinarians and staff truly care about your pet. Having three dogs, I am especially impressed with their efficiency and knowledge and experience. I used to go to another veterinarian closer to where I reside, however Rancho Mesa has won me over and I do not mind making the extra drive for better quality of care. Their rates are extremely fair, my local veterinarian charges double what Rancho Mesa charges on Medication/Visits and more than double on X-Rays and Surgeries.

Took my dog in because he was in obvious pain, would cry when anyone went near him. Luckily this place was open early on a Sunday morning. We didn't have an appointment but the staff was very friendly and helpful, especially when they heard our dog cry when we carried him in. The vet was great! Was calm, careful when examining our dog, very thorough but very caring. She asked a lot of questions and answered all of ours. Let us know what she believed it was, his back was hurt and how to care for him. We went ahead and got the xrays just to be sure and a pain medication. They also gave him a shot for the pain while we were there which helped him so much! We were expecting a pretty high bill considering the unscheduled visit, exam, xrays and meds, but nope, was a great price with amazing service! I believe we found a new vet! We'll be bringing our dogs in here from now on! Thank you everyone!

They seem to be a good group however, I chose them over my regular vet to save money. My regular vet said the teeth cleaning would be $400 including extractions and anything else needed. They quoted me $200 but then everything: extractions, blood screening pre anesthesia and pain meds for teeth after extraction was additional. The actual cost was $415.00 so I spent $15 more and waited 6 months for an appointment.

Yes, finally....a vet that I can trust. I know that being a vet is a really hard job, but some vets give me an icky feeling of always trying to upsell. These guys are great. They're a no BS, straightforward, and efficient group of vets and nurses who are extremely kind and show that they love their animals and respect their owners. I've always had a good experience, and they have a good supply of Comfortis which is a godsend for flea prevention. One time, they also took my dog in right before closing after he was injured in a fight at the dog park. I really appreciate that level of care.

Took a few days to get an appointment -but boy did he diagnose the problem fast, and even tried to talk me out of a service to save me money. So glad I waited and didn't run to another vet that could take us sooner. I've been to a lot of vets throughout the years with various pets, he's the only one that didn't try to up-sell me. I pushed to pay for the blood tests for peace of mind -so he conceded. Since he didn't try to up-sell me, I decided to get all their shots done too (instead of saving a few dollars at the local pet store). What a great place! Let's keep them in business!! A vet that cares about you & your pet(s). Will definitely come back and recommend them to everyone I know!

We took our almost 10 year old dog Emilie to this facility for a large cyst removal! Dr. Cooper took excellent care of our dog! The incision was 3 inches large. Dr. Cooper did an excellent job in removing the cyst and sutured it together like a plastic surgeon!! It healed beautifully, cyst is gone, did not need to make appointment to remove the stitches so it was extremely convenient and great communication in regards to timing how long it would take, what to expect after surgery etc....Dr. Cooper is very professional and knowledgeable . The staff is nice and facility is very clean! A plus! Thank you!

The staff just gave me a clipboard to fill out information without asking or offering any assistance with the dog. I was unable to fill out the paperwork due to the dog's behavior. They continued to laugh and converse amongst themselves like we weren't even there. It took everything I had to keep the dog inside the reception area.It was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had in a Vet's office. And I was the only customer in the reception area at the time!Then, upon leaving, I asked for a copy of the paperwork to bring back to the pet parent and again, was given attitude and no paperwork.Whether you work in reception, answer phones or are just hanging out as a Vet Tech in front, customer service to the pet parent, animal handler and the pet, should be your number 1 priority with people and their pets' situations.Because of your treatment, I will never utilize your Vet Hospital and will advise my clients the same.

Be aware if you are euthanizing your pet here. The worst experience I had with putting down an animal and I have had put to sleep three cats in my life :( They did not put a catheter or numb the paw before injecting my cat with a thick needle. My cat bit my hand of the pain and horror and she was gone when she wanted to bite again. She went with so much pain and horror in her face. I cannot forget or forgive myself for having her go through that, but it was too late before I realized. I wish I asked them to at least numb with local anesthetic before putting that thick needle in. Only if I knew. I had to put down another cat by another vet recently. He went with a peaceful look on his face as the vet used a catheter and sedated him before. Such a big difference.I usually don't go around leaving people negative reviews, but I feel responsible so other pet owners know and ask for numbing before injection with that thick needle!

My family has come here since 1988. I no longer live close by but it is worth the drive. I have never been over charged. Sometimes even discounts or things for free in emergency situations. I have tried other vets in town who charge hundreds more for no reason. I always come back. Everyone who works here is compassionate and loving. My animals are never scared. The vet assistant Beth is especially kind. They are open 7 days a week as any real hospital that cares should be. I definitely recommend them.

Efficient, reasonably priced, and good care. This vet is located close to my house & since I saw the great reviews on Yelp, I decided to go with them. Moose comes here to do his checkups and get his regular shots. They charge about $55 to see the dr. The dr. Is good about looking moose over for his overall visit, comments on his weight, and asks questions in order to be sure he's getting what he needs. I also get flea/tick medication for moose here, and it is effective! I'd recommend this bet because they're reasonably priced, and they consistently deliver with their services.

I really thought this was a good place... I brought 2 sick pups here last week. One recovered- one that died at another vets office 2 days later.I brought my 3 year old pup in who had been vomiting. The dr seemed level headed and after tests she was sent home with a simple virus diagnosis. 2 days later my 8 week old puppy started to vomit with Diarrhea. I called the dr concerned- asking for a Parvo test. He said to watch her because the other dog was getting better and she probably just had what the other dog had. I took his advise... She went down hill rapidly. By morning I was in the ER with her leaking bloody diarrhea. I took her to a more capable vet and she was too far gone. She died that night- it was horrible and sad to see her die from Parvo. She was my sons birthday present.Had we hospitalized her the day before she would have made it. This place seems affordable but they didn't do the tests needed and my poor pup died. Pay for good care for your dogs!!

I was recommended by a petco groomer to come here for an anal gland expression because my dogs glands were much deeper than normal. I was also told that this place is very cost efficient. The cost to have an anal gland expression was $25. I called a different vet in mira Mesa to compare prices and I was looking at $30, so without hesitation I came here. I asked the vet tech how much a teeth cleaning would be, and she told me $200. She looked at my dogs teeth and said they aren't that bad and I should wait 6 more months. THAT IS AMAZING TO ME! Most vets would try to hustle me into getting his teeth cleaned asap! These people really do have your best intentions at heart when dealing with money. I have never came across technicians or vets who try to save you the most money they can, and because of that I trust them and I will be making this place my primary vet!

My daughter has a bulldog that her vet said just apply a gel to the bleeding area...after not working I suggested her take to my vet who immediately diagnosed the problem and sent her to a specialist who was specialized in the delicate surgery that was needed. She got the help and diagnosis that saved her dog.
All of our extended family goes to Dr Volk and Cooper and we have been going for years and have been very happy with the treatments. Even during those sad times when it was time to say goodbye to our furry loved ones.

Met one other dr awhile ago and was not happy with her. Seemed like she had no idea what was going on with the puppy. Dr. Cooper knew straight away when I went to her for second opinion. Since then only see her for my dog.

We have taken our pets to them for over 20 years. I think they do a good job. The vets are excellent and they will discuss options for the treatment of your pet. My experience is that they don’t push unnecessary treatments or vaccinations but suggest the best course. All our pets have been cats, so I can’t say for dogs. They are usually open a few hours on weekends which is very convenient.

The veterinarians and staff truly care about your pet. Having three dogs, I am especially impressed with their efficiency and knowledge and experience. I used to go to another veterinarian closer to where I reside, however Rancho Mesa has won me over and I do not mind making the extra drive for better quality of care. Their rates are extremely fair, my local veterinarian charges double what Rancho Mesa charges on Medication/Visits and more than double on X-Rays and Surgeries.

Took my dog in because he was in obvious pain, would cry when anyone went near him. Luckily this place was open early on a Sunday morning. We didn't have an appointment but the staff was very friendly and helpful, especially when they heard our dog cry when we carried him in. The vet was great! Was calm, careful when examining our dog, very thorough but very caring. She asked a lot of questions and answered all of ours. Let us know what she believed it was, his back was hurt and how to care for him. We went ahead and got the xrays just to be sure and a pain medication. They also gave him a shot for the pain while we were there which helped him so much! We were expecting a pretty high bill considering the unscheduled visit, exam, xrays and meds, but nope, was a great price with amazing service! I believe we found a new vet! We'll be bringing our dogs in here from now on! Thank you everyone!

They seem to be a good group however, I chose them over my regular vet to save money. My regular vet said the teeth cleaning would be $400 including extractions and anything else needed. They quoted me $200 but then everything: extractions, blood screening pre anesthesia and pain meds for teeth after extraction was additional. The actual cost was $415.00 so I spent $15 more and waited 6 months for an appointment.

Yes, finally....a vet that I can trust. I know that being a vet is a really hard job, but some vets give me an icky feeling of always trying to upsell. These guys are great. They're a no BS, straightforward, and efficient group of vets and nurses who are extremely kind and show that they love their animals and respect their owners. I've always had a good experience, and they have a good supply of Comfortis which is a godsend for flea prevention. One time, they also took my dog in right before closing after he was injured in a fight at the dog park. I really appreciate that level of care.

Took a few days to get an appointment -but boy did he diagnose the problem fast, and even tried to talk me out of a service to save me money. So glad I waited and didn't run to another vet that could take us sooner. I've been to a lot of vets throughout the years with various pets, he's the only one that didn't try to up-sell me. I pushed to pay for the blood tests for peace of mind -so he conceded. Since he didn't try to up-sell me, I decided to get all their shots done too (instead of saving a few dollars at the local pet store). What a great place! Let's keep them in business!! A vet that cares about you & your pet(s). Will definitely come back and recommend them to everyone I know!

We took our almost 10 year old dog Emilie to this facility for a large cyst removal! Dr. Cooper took excellent care of our dog! The incision was 3 inches large. Dr. Cooper did an excellent job in removing the cyst and sutured it together like a plastic surgeon!! It healed beautifully, cyst is gone, did not need to make appointment to remove the stitches so it was extremely convenient and great communication in regards to timing how long it would take, what to expect after surgery etc....Dr. Cooper is very professional and knowledgeable . The staff is nice and facility is very clean! A plus! Thank you!

I can't say I am impressed with their customer service though. Some of the staff are nice, the others don't really mind you any attention. It's a hit miss with customer service at this place.

Keeping this short: The Vet was wonderful but his staff a very different story!I brought in a client's very anxious and panic stricken dog who hates to see the Vet. The staff just gave me a clipboard to fill out information without asking or offering any assistance with the dog. I was unable to fill out the paperwork due to the dog's behavior. They continued to laugh and converse amongst themselves like we weren't even there. It took everything I had to keep the dog inside the reception area.It was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had in a Vet's office. And I was the only customer in the reception area at the time!Then, upon leaving, I asked for a copy of the paperwork to bring back to the pet parent and again, was given attitude and no paperwork.Whether you work in reception, answer phones or are just hanging out as a Vet Tech in front, customer service to the pet parent, animal handler and the pet, should be your number 1 priority with people and their pets' situations.Because of your treatment, I will never utilize your Vet Hospital and will advise my clients the same.

Be aware if you are euthanizing your pet here. The worst experience I had with putting down an animal and I have had put to sleep three cats in my life :( They did not put a catheter or numb the paw before injecting my cat with a thick needle. My cat bit my hand of the pain and horror and she was gone when she wanted to bite again. She went with so much pain and horror in her face. I cannot forget or forgive myself for having her go through that, but it was too late before I realized. I wish I asked them to at least numb with local anesthetic before putting that thick needle in. Only if I knew. I had to put down another cat by another vet recently. He went with a peaceful look on his face as the vet used a catheter and sedated him before. Such a big difference.I usually don't go around leaving people negative reviews, but I feel responsible so other pet owners know and ask for numbing before injection with that thick needle!

My family has come here since 1988. I no longer live close by but it is worth the drive. I have never been over charged. Sometimes even discounts or things for free in emergency situations. I have tried other vets in town who charge hundreds more for no reason. I always come back. Everyone who works here is compassionate and loving. My animals are never scared. The vet assistant Beth is especially kind. They are open 7 days a week as any real hospital that cares should be. I definitely recommend them.

Efficient, reasonably priced, and good care. This vet is located close to my house & since I saw the great reviews on Yelp, I decided to go with them. Moose comes here to do his checkups and get his regular shots. They charge about $55 to see the dr. The dr. Is good about looking moose over for his overall visit, comments on his weight, and asks questions in order to be sure he's getting what he needs. I also get flea/tick medication for moose here, and it is effective! I'd recommend this bet because they're reasonably priced, and they consistently deliver with their services.

I really thought this was a good place... I brought 2 sick pups here last week. One recovered- one that died at another vets office 2 days later.I brought my 3 year old pup in who had been vomiting. The dr seemed level headed and after tests she was sent home with a simple virus diagnosis. 2 days later my 8 week old puppy started to vomit with Diarrhea. I called the dr concerned- asking for a Parvo test. He said to watch her because the other dog was getting better and she probably just had what the other dog had. I took his advise... She went down hill rapidly. By morning I was in the ER with her leaking bloody diarrhea. I took her to a more capable vet and she was too far gone. She died that night- it was horrible and sad to see her die from Parvo. She was my sons birthday present.Had we hospitalized her the day before she would have made it. This place seems affordable but they didn't do the tests needed and my poor pup died. Pay for good care for your dogs!!

I was recommended by a petco groomer to come here for an anal gland expression because my dogs glands were much deeper than normal. I was also told that this place is very cost efficient. The cost to have an anal gland expression was $25. I called a different vet in mira Mesa to compare prices and I was looking at $30, so without hesitation I came here. I asked the vet tech how much a teeth cleaning would be, and she told me $200. She looked at my dogs teeth and said they aren't that bad and I should wait 6 more months. THAT IS AMAZING TO ME! Most vets would try to hustle me into getting his teeth cleaned asap! These people really do have your best intentions at heart when dealing with money. I have never came across technicians or vets who try to save you the most money they can, and because of that I trust them and I will be making this place my primary vet!

My daughter has a bulldog that her vet said just apply a gel to the bleeding area...after not working I suggested her take to my vet who immediately diagnosed the problem and sent her to a specialist who was specialized in the delicate surgery that was needed. She got the help and diagnosis that saved her dog.
All of our extended family goes to Dr Volk and Cooper and we have been going for years and have been very happy with the treatments. Even during those sad times when it was time to say goodbye to our furry loved ones.
