Please click on the image, this is my sweet little baby dog that was treated at VCA Animal Hospital Hotel Circle by Dr. Marisa DeAvilla and she was absolutely amazing. I am just in the city for a month for work and my dog was attacked by a husky. The staff immediately took her back and figured out it was much worse than we had originally thought!! They were so communicative and kept in touch with me the entire time before and after surgery and NEVER tried to UPSELL any products or unnecessary procedures like other vets I've been to in the past. Very caring and understanding staff and I would come back to this location anytime!!

My dog was throwing up and had blood in his stool. We were recommended to go here by VCA Angels. After check in, a random tech walked in, offered a glucose test for $100. They could not explain why it was offered, the Vet later said he did not need it either. The vet said she would not touch my dog or she would charge $100, after 30 minutes of me waiting. She offered a full CBC and Chem test for $500!!! I walked out. North Park Animal hospital did it $148. North Park did not charge me to touch my dog either.

Cat swallowed foxtail and was in lung ..Refered here by another VCA to bronchial scope and get foxtail out of airway..Instead of treating cat as an emergency and have it checked by there internal medicine specialist the emergency vet told me not to focus on the foxtail that I personally saw the cat eat and choke on?. Instead she went the asthma avenue..After running up $800 bill all they did was send me on my way with an appointment 20 days away?? Two days latter cat on death bed..Took her to VSHSD and they treated my cat.. Foxtail stuck in lung loob and ended up being surgically removed after scoping failed to retrieve at $10000 dollars. Had VCA treated my cat as an emergency maybe the foxtail wouldn't of been so deep in lung.I wouldn't give this VCA any stars!! I want to sue them and probably will for their inhumane treatment of my cat !! My advice to anyone needing medical emergency help for their pet..Go to VSHSD on Sorrento Valley Rd..Best place I've ever been too.Extremely genuine care of animals !

We are travel nurses and came to San Diego to work for a few months. Our 11 year old English Bulldog was due for a follow up cardiology appointment and we found Dr. Cole. Taters heart failure was progressing and he needed to be put on additional medications to help him get rid of fluid and he also required a procedure to drain fluid from his abdomen. Even though we are both nurses and are fully aware of what was happening it still absolutely sucked and was heart breaking. Dr. Cole not only made us feel comfortable but she gave us hope that we still had time with our Bullie! We began working in LA in February and have still traveled to San Diego to see Dr. Cole. We ended up having to see a vet up here and it was a horrible experience and ended up causing more problems and put Tater through more stress. We know Tater isn’t going to live forever and we know we are on borrowed time. We are determined to make the remainder of his life the best it can possibly be and with the help from Dr. Cole we are looking good to make it to 12! Since he saw her a few days ago and removed some fluid he’s been back to his stubborn Bullie self and is feeling fantastic! Dr. Cole, thank you from the bottom of our hearts! You are totally worth being stuck in traffic!

The kindest people and the best care. My wait was a while only because they were slammed but being one of the only 24 hour vets in the area I totally understood and they couldn’t have been nicer about it. Paid extra attention to the animals as well as their owners and everyone I encountered there was super nice and was so kind to my pup. Not surprising as the market st location is our usual vet, but it’s nice to have an emergency vet im so confident about. Thank you so much!

After not eating her dinner, our dog started shaking and panting heavily last night. We called VCA in a bit of a panic to ask if we should bring her in. The woman who answered the phone was kind and calm as she asked a number of questions. Based on what we were observing, she recommended that we keep a close eye on her and take her to our normal vet in the morning when the office opened. She offered some advice for things to try at home, and told us what additional symptoms to look out for that might help us determine if she needed emergency care at any point during the night. When we woke up today, we were grateful that our dog was back to her normal, spunky self. Like any pet owners, we'd do anything for her. If VCA told us to come in, we would have raced over there! I appreciated that they cared more about our dog than getting a couple hundred bucks out of us for an after-hours visit. We have four pets and won't hesitate to take them to VCA if we need to in the future.

Unfortunately, I have to give this rating because our indoor cat got fleas after staying at this hospital for 2 nights. Aside from this, we enjoyed our experience at this hospital. The staff was friendly, informative, and seemed like they really cared about the well-being of our cat. Additionally, I received 2 calls per day noting the status of my cat, which was really nice. Finally, they offered visiting hours which was a nice surprise. However, the fleas are causing me to dock the rating by some stars.

It was horrible at this emergency care!!! Never take your dogs here. I took my dog here at around 11pm and left until 7 am in the morning and they still did not know what my dog had. They were not helpful at all. When I was about to pay. The women in the front who was named Heidi Mcgee the Client Service Representative was extremely rude!!! She began to yell at me and my cousin and even pulled the papers away from us. She even threw her pen and literally called us dumb for not knowing what a deposit was, when she never explained herself. I will never take my dogs here again!!!!!

This is a nice clean facility. I come here regularly for Specialty Care. Its one of the few veterinaries in San Diego that offer Cardiology. The staff is all knowledgeable and friendly. They make my dog as comfortable as possible every visit. I've also come here before for emergency care, where they found my dogs heart condition. I'm glad they caught it and are now regularly treating him. The prices are a bit steep, but kind of expected since they do run a 24-hour emergency care and Specialty Services. I wish they gave a military discount of some sort though

We took our fur baby Louie in last week as an emergency, he was attacked by a coyote. As soon as we got there they helped us right away, the vet assistant came and took Louie to get his vitals, look him over make sure he was doing good. We were there for about an hour. The Dr came and talked to us about his condition and what they were going to do. She was very confident that Louie was going to make a full recovery and she was going to do her best. After she left the treatment coordinator came in to discuss the fees and give an estimate on what was going to be done. Everyone was very professional, never did it seem like they were try to pull one over us. Yes, vets can be pricey but, they are there to help and try to save our pets. You can't put a price on a member of your family. It's been a week and Louie has been improving each day . I want to thank the whole staff for helping in our time of need. I highly recommend this vet hospital to everyone.

My 14year old maltipoo Luna who suffers from congestive heart failure was going into cardiac arrest after getting into our trash while I was at work. I rushed her to VCA mission valley and they saved my dogs life. Without their quick response and onsite cardiologist I would have lost my best friend. They were not only amazing to my dog but to me as well. I was a wreck and afraid to leave her alone. They let me hangout in the lobby as long as I wanted and stop in for visits with her in the back 3 times a day! I could tell they really cared about her and would do everything they could to keep her alive even at her old age! I can only imagine what another hospital would have told an owner with a 14 year old dog but not once did they say it was her time to go... Luna and I are forever grateful to the staff at vca mission valley.

I had an awesome experience at VCA Mission Valley, they treated Olive very well and sent her home well on her way to recovery. The next day she was almost 100% her goofball self. The staff and the vet were outstanding and very professional. I was a referral from Kennsington Vet (also outstanding), they took in Olive and went right to work to find out why she was so ill. The Vet gave me such an outstanding diagnosis and prognosis. I watched the staff interact with other patients and I could tell they all really cared. I highly recommend this hospital.

Dr. Sartor did an amazing job with our very crazy dog, Odin. We went there every week for about 5 weeks and each time she was extremely informative and compassionate. We are sad that we will be moving and won't be able to continue to his healing process (broken radius) with her.
Also, the nurse Yolanda was just awesome. Odin generally has bad anxiety, though whenever she would take him back he was calm and relaxed with her. He absolutely loved her!

I have had to visit this hospital twice. I am leaving a 5 star review because of so many negative ones. I think people need to understand when you animal is in a crisis and needs immediate medical attention is costs more money. I was very satisfied with the care my animals received. I even had to put one of them down and it was awful but the staff and Vet could not have been more professional and empathetic.

Avoid taking your pet here. I unfortunately didn't read reviews first because I was referred by our very honest and trust worthy vet. I made an appointment for our boxer who needed to have 2 tumors removed. Our vet originally quoted $650 but then didn't feel confident to do the surgery since by the time we could afford it the tumor had grown. When making the appointment I was very clear we didn't want a biopsy and no further treatment only removal of the tumors. $140 consult fee. Then after seeing the vet, $1700-$1900 estimate and we were then told they are required to do the biopsy???? Should inform personnel who make appointments of this rule or be honest when people book and clearly tell you NO BIOPSY ($295 for biopsy). We found a local vet in our area that was able to do the surgery same day as our consult and for $925!!! These VCA places are all about the money and see dollar signs when you bring your pet in for care. AVOID THEM PLEASE!!!!

18-yr-old cat was vomiting a LOT, and had a seriously high fever. $2600 and 3 days later, after I got kitty back, the main diagnosis is "she's old." They did one x-ray and one ultrasound. Secondarily, they thought maybe she had Inflammatory Bowel issues, and put her on over the counter 1/4 Pepcid tablet (which tablet is impossible to divide up into 4 pieces, by the way), also on anti-emitic (anti-vomiting) med, but she has vomited 3 times on that med so far. They thought she might have something like a hairball in part of her intestines (altho ultrasound did not show anything). So, today, I called them and told them she vomited & there is a piece of something in it that I can't see all that well because it's small-ish. Asked if they would they be interested in looking at it thru a microscope to find out what it is. They said no, not unless I bring kitty back. I know this hospital very well, and "see your animal" is usually a $2000 thing, minimum. There would undoubtedly be more tests, prodding, fear and discomfort for our kitty (who is resting comfortably, eating well, eliminating perfectly), undoubtedly an overnite or 2 or 3. Since the next thing they wanted to do was full-on surgical biopsy, and since she's 18 with a bad heart, this is seriously ridiculous. Especially since I already told them that we would not put her through any more strenuous procedures due to her age and heart condition. They LOVE to do surgeries here. I know this for a fact, with other animals I have known who have been here. And read the other reviews, for goodness sakes! There are other ER hospitals for your pets. Look around.

Please click on the image, this is my sweet little baby dog that was treated at VCA Animal Hospital Hotel Circle by Dr. Marisa DeAvilla and she was absolutely amazing. I am just in the city for a month for work and my dog was attacked by a husky. The staff immediately took her back and figured out it was much worse than we had originally thought!! They were so communicative and kept in touch with me the entire time before and after surgery and NEVER tried to UPSELL any products or unnecessary procedures like other vets I've been to in the past. Very caring and understanding staff and I would come back to this location anytime!!

My dog was throwing up and had blood in his stool. We were recommended to go here by VCA Angels. After check in, a random tech walked in, offered a glucose test for $100. They could not explain why it was offered, the Vet later said he did not need it either. The vet said she would not touch my dog or she would charge $100, after 30 minutes of me waiting. She offered a full CBC and Chem test for $500!!! I walked out. North Park Animal hospital did it $148. North Park did not charge me to touch my dog either.

Cat swallowed foxtail and was in lung ..Refered here by another VCA to bronchial scope and get foxtail out of airway..Instead of treating cat as an emergency and have it checked by there internal medicine specialist the emergency vet told me not to focus on the foxtail that I personally saw the cat eat and choke on?. Instead she went the asthma avenue..After running up $800 bill all they did was send me on my way with an appointment 20 days away?? Two days latter cat on death bed..Took her to VSHSD and they treated my cat.. Foxtail stuck in lung loob and ended up being surgically removed after scoping failed to retrieve at $10000 dollars. Had VCA treated my cat as an emergency maybe the foxtail wouldn't of been so deep in lung.I wouldn't give this VCA any stars!! I want to sue them and probably will for their inhumane treatment of my cat !! My advice to anyone needing medical emergency help for their pet..Go to VSHSD on Sorrento Valley Rd..Best place I've ever been too.Extremely genuine care of animals !

We are travel nurses and came to San Diego to work for a few months. Our 11 year old English Bulldog was due for a follow up cardiology appointment and we found Dr. Cole. Taters heart failure was progressing and he needed to be put on additional medications to help him get rid of fluid and he also required a procedure to drain fluid from his abdomen. Even though we are both nurses and are fully aware of what was happening it still absolutely sucked and was heart breaking. Dr. Cole not only made us feel comfortable but she gave us hope that we still had time with our Bullie! We began working in LA in February and have still traveled to San Diego to see Dr. Cole. We ended up having to see a vet up here and it was a horrible experience and ended up causing more problems and put Tater through more stress. We know Tater isn’t going to live forever and we know we are on borrowed time. We are determined to make the remainder of his life the best it can possibly be and with the help from Dr. Cole we are looking good to make it to 12! Since he saw her a few days ago and removed some fluid he’s been back to his stubborn Bullie self and is feeling fantastic! Dr. Cole, thank you from the bottom of our hearts! You are totally worth being stuck in traffic!

The kindest people and the best care. My wait was a while only because they were slammed but being one of the only 24 hour vets in the area I totally understood and they couldn’t have been nicer about it. Paid extra attention to the animals as well as their owners and everyone I encountered there was super nice and was so kind to my pup. Not surprising as the market st location is our usual vet, but it’s nice to have an emergency vet im so confident about. Thank you so much!

After not eating her dinner, our dog started shaking and panting heavily last night. We called VCA in a bit of a panic to ask if we should bring her in. The woman who answered the phone was kind and calm as she asked a number of questions. Based on what we were observing, she recommended that we keep a close eye on her and take her to our normal vet in the morning when the office opened. She offered some advice for things to try at home, and told us what additional symptoms to look out for that might help us determine if she needed emergency care at any point during the night. When we woke up today, we were grateful that our dog was back to her normal, spunky self. Like any pet owners, we'd do anything for her. If VCA told us to come in, we would have raced over there! I appreciated that they cared more about our dog than getting a couple hundred bucks out of us for an after-hours visit. We have four pets and won't hesitate to take them to VCA if we need to in the future.

Unfortunately, I have to give this rating because our indoor cat got fleas after staying at this hospital for 2 nights. Aside from this, we enjoyed our experience at this hospital. The staff was friendly, informative, and seemed like they really cared about the well-being of our cat. Additionally, I received 2 calls per day noting the status of my cat, which was really nice. Finally, they offered visiting hours which was a nice surprise. However, the fleas are causing me to dock the rating by some stars.

It was horrible at this emergency care!!! Never take your dogs here. I took my dog here at around 11pm and left until 7 am in the morning and they still did not know what my dog had. They were not helpful at all. When I was about to pay. The women in the front who was named Heidi Mcgee the Client Service Representative was extremely rude!!! She began to yell at me and my cousin and even pulled the papers away from us. She even threw her pen and literally called us dumb for not knowing what a deposit was, when she never explained herself. I will never take my dogs here again!!!!!

This is a nice clean facility. I come here regularly for Specialty Care. Its one of the few veterinaries in San Diego that offer Cardiology. The staff is all knowledgeable and friendly. They make my dog as comfortable as possible every visit. I've also come here before for emergency care, where they found my dogs heart condition. I'm glad they caught it and are now regularly treating him. The prices are a bit steep, but kind of expected since they do run a 24-hour emergency care and Specialty Services. I wish they gave a military discount of some sort though

We took our fur baby Louie in last week as an emergency, he was attacked by a coyote. As soon as we got there they helped us right away, the vet assistant came and took Louie to get his vitals, look him over make sure he was doing good. We were there for about an hour. The Dr came and talked to us about his condition and what they were going to do. She was very confident that Louie was going to make a full recovery and she was going to do her best. After she left the treatment coordinator came in to discuss the fees and give an estimate on what was going to be done. Everyone was very professional, never did it seem like they were try to pull one over us. Yes, vets can be pricey but, they are there to help and try to save our pets. You can't put a price on a member of your family. It's been a week and Louie has been improving each day . I want to thank the whole staff for helping in our time of need. I highly recommend this vet hospital to everyone.

My 14year old maltipoo Luna who suffers from congestive heart failure was going into cardiac arrest after getting into our trash while I was at work. I rushed her to VCA mission valley and they saved my dogs life. Without their quick response and onsite cardiologist I would have lost my best friend. They were not only amazing to my dog but to me as well. I was a wreck and afraid to leave her alone. They let me hangout in the lobby as long as I wanted and stop in for visits with her in the back 3 times a day! I could tell they really cared about her and would do everything they could to keep her alive even at her old age! I can only imagine what another hospital would have told an owner with a 14 year old dog but not once did they say it was her time to go... Luna and I are forever grateful to the staff at vca mission valley.

I had an awesome experience at VCA Mission Valley, they treated Olive very well and sent her home well on her way to recovery. The next day she was almost 100% her goofball self. The staff and the vet were outstanding and very professional. I was a referral from Kennsington Vet (also outstanding), they took in Olive and went right to work to find out why she was so ill. The Vet gave me such an outstanding diagnosis and prognosis. I watched the staff interact with other patients and I could tell they all really cared. I highly recommend this hospital.

Dr. Sartor did an amazing job with our very crazy dog, Odin. We went there every week for about 5 weeks and each time she was extremely informative and compassionate. We are sad that we will be moving and won't be able to continue to his healing process (broken radius) with her.
Also, the nurse Yolanda was just awesome. Odin generally has bad anxiety, though whenever she would take him back he was calm and relaxed with her. He absolutely loved her!

I have had to visit this hospital twice. I am leaving a 5 star review because of so many negative ones. I think people need to understand when you animal is in a crisis and needs immediate medical attention is costs more money. I was very satisfied with the care my animals received. I even had to put one of them down and it was awful but the staff and Vet could not have been more professional and empathetic.

Avoid taking your pet here. I unfortunately didn't read reviews first because I was referred by our very honest and trust worthy vet. I made an appointment for our boxer who needed to have 2 tumors removed. Our vet originally quoted $650 but then didn't feel confident to do the surgery since by the time we could afford it the tumor had grown. When making the appointment I was very clear we didn't want a biopsy and no further treatment only removal of the tumors. $140 consult fee. Then after seeing the vet, $1700-$1900 estimate and we were then told they are required to do the biopsy???? Should inform personnel who make appointments of this rule or be honest when people book and clearly tell you NO BIOPSY ($295 for biopsy). We found a local vet in our area that was able to do the surgery same day as our consult and for $925!!! These VCA places are all about the money and see dollar signs when you bring your pet in for care. AVOID THEM PLEASE!!!!

All the test came up negative, so I was glad. The prices were a little steep, but it was an emergency, so I expected it. My wait wasn't very lengthy. They referred a good vet near my area.

18-yr-old cat was vomiting a LOT, and had a seriously high fever. $2600 and 3 days later, after I got kitty back, the main diagnosis is "she's old." They did one x-ray and one ultrasound. Secondarily, they thought maybe she had Inflammatory Bowel issues, and put her on over the counter 1/4 Pepcid tablet (which tablet is impossible to divide up into 4 pieces, by the way), also on anti-emitic (anti-vomiting) med, but she has vomited 3 times on that med so far. They thought she might have something like a hairball in part of her intestines (altho ultrasound did not show anything). So, today, I called them and told them she vomited & there is a piece of something in it that I can't see all that well because it's small-ish. Asked if they would they be interested in looking at it thru a microscope to find out what it is. They said no, not unless I bring kitty back. I know this hospital very well, and "see your animal" is usually a $2000 thing, minimum. There would undoubtedly be more tests, prodding, fear and discomfort for our kitty (who is resting comfortably, eating well, eliminating perfectly), undoubtedly an overnite or 2 or 3. Since the next thing they wanted to do was full-on surgical biopsy, and since she's 18 with a bad heart, this is seriously ridiculous. Especially since I already told them that we would not put her through any more strenuous procedures due to her age and heart condition. They LOVE to do surgeries here. I know this for a fact, with other animals I have known who have been here. And read the other reviews, for goodness sakes! There are other ER hospitals for your pets. Look around.
