Vca Pacific Petcare Animal Hospital

San Diego, California
General Info
VCA Pacific Petcare Animal Hospital in San Diego develops examination structures that harmonize the pet’s comfort and physical preparedness for diagnostics across California. Note that the initiation of intake procedures does not begin as is always assumed by the majority. Staff members carefully observe the dog’s entrance and note whether the dog stops, circles, vocalizes, or anchors its weight toward the door. The clinic uses quiet staging or rapid triage based on the patients' stress behavior they observe. Physical tests include the evaluation of balance, ear tension, skin warmth and hydration, fur texture, oral response, breath pattern and resistance to handling. Medical diagnostics rely heavily on owner information, focusing primarily on sleeping positions, seasonal behavior changes, appetite shifts, and recent avoidance patterns. VCA Pacific Petcare Animal Hospital offers a wide range of services, including wellness exams, acute illness care, senior planning, weight management programs, and pain assessment. Additionally, the division of services into several visits helps pets that fare better with shorter activity periods. The full-day staggered session approach with breaks in between handles may suit some people. The model allows families to prevent additional trauma in animals recovering from surgery, noise sensitive and with previous fear experiences. Post-visit tools include body language guides and a scale to track dogs’ fear responses at home. It is advised that owners also adjust their schedules, daily habits, and ways they communicate with their pets. The timeframe for follow-up steps is not calendar-based but dependent on readiness. VCA Pacific Petcare Animal Hospital brings a veterinary rhythm to pet families in San Diego and surrounding California communities that balances emotional physical self-regulation with clinical precision. The team provides expert services in several areas, including: Clients consistently commend the practice for its commitment and the individualized attention it provides to pets’ needs. From routine check-ups to intricate procedures, the clinic ensures that your pet receives the finest care in a friendly and serene setting.

After Dr. Ball left last year, the replacement vet just isn't nearly as good. My cat had kidney failure, and the vet failed to send in the tests the same day which instead took 3 days. I asked her if I should bring my cat to the ER vet and she told me there was nothing they could do that she could. After waiting three days on the blood and urine tests, she finally recommended I take my cat to the ER clinic where the prognosis was she should have been treated sooner. Adding insult, she put an entire case of feline kidney care wet food at the front desk for me to purchase for my cat that died 5 days later. The front desk staff is amazing but can't make up for the worst vet service I have ever experienced. Read Less

Excellent pet care with this office. They always know me & my pet & greet me by name. All the vets are great & the team is very friendly. Their prices are fair for their services. My cat has had ongoing treatment for a year since adopting her as a very sick kitten for a problem that can only be managed but not cured. They have been warm, loving & helpful in a very difficult situation & they haven't ever pushed unwanted & expensive treatment or considered giving up on her. They helped me get her to a great & stable place with her health. I will always be grateful to Dr. Smith for the time & effort she put into my pet & keeping her not only alive, but happy & playful again. Dr. Smith has personally called me & kept me informed of her health & care every step & I never lost hope! I have recommended this office to others who are also happy with their services. Read Less

My family loves the care that our pets have gotten at Pacific Petcare! Dr.Geoff Ball is always warm and caring with our babies! The entire staff is extremely helpful and they have all treated both our pets and us with respect and kindness. We've had several bad experiences with Vets in Carmel Valley, so it is extremely comforting to find a local office that is right around the corner in case of an emergency or for day-to-day pet care. The first time my husband brought our dog to Pacific Petcare they were good enough and the reviews online were good. But, when I brought our cats in for inital shots the front desk had an attitude and seemed not to care about my animals. They also told me they had no record for my dog, even though the old vet had faxed them on his first visit. When I came in the next day for the appointment I had scheduled they took me right in. Everything seemed ok so far, but when they took my pets into the back it was weird because unless it was surgery my old vet did everything in the room with the owners. Then the next day I was looking at my flea treatment for all four of my pets and odly the one that Pacific Petcare had prescribed for the cats said for dogs and puppies over 7 weeks. This concerned me, so I called and the vet told me that it was their practice to prescribe puppy treatments for cats. However, with the disconnect between the front desk and the doctor the day before, I didn't feel like i could trust what the desk had to say. So I called my old vet in VA and they said it sounded like a problem because the brand they use is very different between dog and cat formulas. I then called advantage and they said that it was a problem and to tell the vet to switch them because the dosages are different. I called and told the desk again that I had talked to both my old vet and advantage and they both said that it was a problem. She put me on hold and said the doctor would call me later. They called back a couple hours later, and assured me that the medicines were the same, and that everything would be all right. Read Less
