Awesome Dr's and staff. Visited the office on this particular day to put my 17 year old boxer/pit bull to rest in heaven. The Dr and assistant were so patient with me. They allowed me to spend as much time before and after as I needed. So caring, patient , consoling and completely in dearing. If you have a chance to just visit this establishment, do so. I have been looking for a new vet since my favorite vet sold his practice 3 years ago. A friend recommended Dill Veterinary Hospital so I decided to take my dog there when he had an anal gland rupture. I noticed a bump near his anus in the morning and made and appointment for the next morning. It ruptured overnight. I have had small dogs all of my life (my last two dogs lived to be 16 and 17 years old) and have never had this happen! It was terrible and of course he needed care.The vet who saw me was Dr. Grewal. He was kind and did a good job with my dog. Everyone was friendly and professional. The vet techs were also very kind and friendly.My beef is with the charges. The office visit is reasonable $48 - but the prices they charge for meds/services is exorbitant.For example, I was sold a tube of antibiotic ointment (30ml) for $42. This is 2.5-3x the price it is available elsewhere (same exact brand/size).Same for the antibiotic tablets (twice the price as elsewhere).I was also charged $68 for two injections (one steroid and one antibiotic). I have read online that charges for these shots usually range from $12-20 each (so same markup 2-3x the price). I also needed a refill of immunosuppressant eye ointment for my dog who has an immune disorder. They wanted $67 per tube (I can buy this elsewhere for under $30) - I will get the prescription filled elsewhere.Takeaway - The whole thing cost me $250 which is at least $50-100 more than comparable services other people have listed online regarding the same experience. This is due to the drug prices being so inflated, as well as three different types of antibiotics being prescribed (oral, injectable, topical - excessive maybe?)  Hopefully I will never have an experience like this again and my dog will stay healthy and happy, but in the meantime I will be looking for a vet who is more reasonable. I have been to three or four vets and have never left one in Granada Hills for under $700., whether cat or dog. I recently got a new puppy, Daisy Rose. We have fast become good friends. My family used to take their farm animals to Dill's back in the day. So knowing that Dr. Tim Hare was the owner vet gave me much confidence especially after reading about the history of Dill Veterinary Hospital. The first thing I noticed about the place was that it was spic and span; extraordinarily clean. I used to sit behind Timoteo in Spanish class once upon a time. He was always very bright and industrious. He and his assistant Michael gave Daisy Rose a very good check up and answered my questions.  I am very confident I have chosen the right vet for my little best friend. My baby girl was born here and originally I had tried to find a vet closer to my home and unfortunately was completely ripped off. Just like healthcare, veterinarian care is also a place where you can be taken advantage of and being a nurse I know this all too well. When I took her here they gave me a walk in appointment even though their schedule was completely booked and I couldn't have been happier. From the moment I walked in I was instantly at ease from the professional... front desk staff, then the amazing techs, and then finally Dr. Johnson. They were informative, knowledgeable, and patient. They reassured me that everything was okay and that my baby was in the right place. I walked out of there confident that my dog was being taken care of as if she was their own. Now I feel like part of the Dr. Dill family. I would never go anywhere else. Thank you for being an outstanding veterinarian care provider. Let me begin by saying I live five hours away from this clinic. I was driving up through LA, on my way to use frozen semen I have stored at ICSB Grass Valley, when the specialist up there was skeptical that the progesterone results I had just had back from Yorba Regional Animal Hospital were not correct. To double check the validity of the progesterone machine at the other repro vet, I was told to find another repro vet along my drive north that could also pull a progesterone sample that same day to send out to IDEXX and compare. I had never been to Dill, but I know a good friend uses them, and I know Julie Jones works there, which means the place must be good ;) So, I called while stuck in Friday afternoon traffic and explained what I needed to do. The receptionist was very helpful and gave me directions to the clinic, since I don't live in the area.  So, I finally got through traffic at 5 pm, and they graciously did the progesterone test. Amber came in and even did a smear, at no additional charge.  I called the next morning at 8 am and was able to get the progesterone results back from IDEXX, which helped the repro team up at ICSB Grass Valley determine that the other testing done elsewhere was, indeed, off, as they suspected. Using this piece of the puzzle and doing two more progesterone tests up north, we were able to do the frozen semen breeding at the right time. This resulted in five dachshund pups born via frozen TCI breeding. I want to thank Dill for helping me that stressful Friday afternoon and graciously getting us in to do that progesterone test that saved the day. The only reason I don't give five stars is because Amber suggested doing the frozen breedings two days before my bitch was actually ready. I understand she had only the one progesterone test and the one smear to go on, but luckily the specialist up north had a different idea, and we didn't waste the frozen. I know the timing of frozen breedings is a difficult thing to get right. I do appreciate Amber's willingness to help. Read Less

Honestly, I couldn't be happier with this place. We tried different vets in the Sylmar area but we're always incredibly underwhelmed. I walked in here and the waiting room was clean and bright, and the staff is very friendly. The Doctor who examined my dog was very professional as well as attentive to all the questions I had.  I walked out with a bill around $200 but I felt like for all of that was done, it was very fair.I would definitely recommend this to people looking for a veterinarian! Dr Hare is an amazingly knowledgeable vet, he takes time to explain everything in detail and answers all questions you might have, he is great with animals too, they take to him right away which is unusual from my experience. His staff is the best, everyone there is professional and friendly and eager to help you with anything, they LOVE the animals and treat them very kindly which means a lot to a worried human. Dr Hare is our vet for life now, we are so glad we found him and his staff, I no longer worry about my cats needing a vet because we finally, for the first time in decades, have a place that we can trust with our animals health. Brought in a kitten I found, who was skinny and sick. I was worried they'd be super expensive or even worst tell me they'd have to put the cat down. They were SO GOOD! They helped out my kitten, gave her shots, and medicine. it's been about 2 weeks and she's fatter now and healthy. I will come here for sure next time and recommend them. A year ago, they assured me that my tortoise cat had anywhere from 2 to 3 months to live due to Feline Infectious Peritonitis  (FIP) and NOTHING could be done to save my little one.  While being examined, they were really not patient and didn't care for my cat with tender love and care and it seemed we were taking up their time; very cold.  About 2 months later I took her to Chatoak Veterinary in Granada Hills,  CA and they assured me that my baby was in perfect condition and DID NOT HAVE  (FIP).  I was so angry and still am because they made me go through a sad, emotional, heartbreaking time.  DON'T TAKE YOUR PETS THERE! We came home from vacation only to find that our little girl dog had gotten a boo-boo on her cheek. My daughter had taken her to an emergency veterinary clinic in Huntington Beach they diagnosed her with an abscess,  and wanted to $2000 to fix it. Uh..no can do.  We know Julie at Dill, and we were  able to get our little Pooch  into the clinic first thing Monday morning. I can't say enough good things about this clinic and the excellent care that my dog received.  I'm glad to say that she is well on the mend.   This clinic specializes in canine reproduction and the lobby was filled with many special breeds of dogs.  Dr.Hare is awesome,  really took the time to explain to me what he did .  They did this surgery for less than half of what the fancy Huntington Beach location wanted.  I'm a fan forever. First time here. I went here because of info I read about exocrine pancreas insufficiency and how Dr Terrie Johnson worked hard to identify and diagnose the disease. Ultimately a vet's office is only as good as the doctor's ability to diagnose and think big picture instead of just looking at the symptoms. I really liked Dr Johnson. Four months going there, starting by a frustrated attempting to breed my shibas (surgical insemination combined with transcervical). Although it didn't work (Dr. Johnson had prevented me the low count of spermatozoons could lead to unsuccess, so I was aware there was a solid chance all that work, time and fortune spent would be vain), I decided to keep going there for other issues my female shiba is going through. I chose that dr., not only 'cause she is nice to us, I was also afraid the problems my baby is going through now could be consequences of the useless surgery. She was ok, but then it goes their terrible mistake that forced me to, VERY SADLY, write this review to ALERT YOU ALL: DON'T GO THERE! FOR THE LOVE OF YOUR PETS AND CONSIDERATION TO YOUR HARD WORKED MONEY, DON'T! It's not about the vets that work there fault, BUT THE OWNER. Just like other reviews here, I had the same horrible impress of this AMBER, who's not even a vet doctor, but owns the establishment. My fiancés coworker recommended dill so I took my new mini  schnauzer here for his puppy shots first experience was great when I came down for the last shots and got ready to pay they told me I owe $71 so I only brought $45 thinking it was the same as last time because out last vet that's how it was  well long story short if they need to let there clients know what it's going to come out to like any other place I didn't like the fact they trying to say oh they need so many test well this was my last trip here thanks but no thanks Read Less

Went in to take my grandmother's kitten for a check up after my dachshund attacked it and I saw the kitten breathing very heavy. Dr. Dill was very nice and a seems to be a good doctor and gave me some hope on the kitten but also told me to put her down because he thought the kittens rib cage was crushed. Still i took a chance with the kitten  and didnt put her down since she look to me like a little fighter. However the blonde receptionist/vet assistant whomever she was, was extremely rude and kept telling me I should put the kitten down because she was suffering and that she "could bear to see animals suffer" and threatened me by saying shes going to call the animial shelter because i decided not to put the kitten down. Im a huge animal lover and I too don't like seeing animals suffer but if I see an animal fight for it's life y not give it a chance right? Well the kitten survived and is now happy playing and running around as if nothing happen and living a normal cat life :) Read Less

My cat was having trouble chewing his food.So I brought him in to Dr. Dill.Dr. Dill charged me $100 for the visit.And said my cat needed blood tests & IV fluids that costs $400. He told me that my cat would die if I did not do the blood tests the next day. I took my cat to another doctor the next day for a second opinion. The other doctor told me that my cat was healthy & only had a canker sore in his mouth - something very common & not serious in cats.  The other doctor charged me $30 for the visit.It's been over a year & my cat is very healthy today.Dr. Dill was trying to charge me for services my cat did not need.And that is why I will not be coming back. I took my dog here for the first time when he suffered seizure. (It was a one time thing, my chucho is fine now.) The staff at the hospital was actually much friendlier and easier to talk to than the actual doctor. He was courteous and all, but he seemed like he was really busy (there was only one other person that i saw that day in the waiting room.) While he did answer my questions, i did not feel that sense of comfort and actually for me or my dog,and therefore, i will not be returning.
