Do not take your pet here! I myself am a certified vet tech and have worked in multiple vet hospitals and ER here in California and other states. My family and I came here because our dog, chica, had gotten ran over by a car. There was no immediate attention from the front desk, vet techs or the doctors (there are 2 doctors on site). We have taken her to this hospital before for shots but yet they had no records of us ever being there, even though we get monthly notifications through the mail. We waited for 10 minutes to finally get checked by the doctor (Dr. Falsy) and he didn't even do basic protocol. He forced her to walk when it was clear that she couldn't even stand. When we asked him a question, he yelled at us and argued saying "Are you going to do my job or are you going to let me? If you don't like what I'm doing then leave and go to another place." They were totally unprofessional, uncaring, and to be quite frank, jerks. In the end, we walked out with them doing nothing to her but making it worse (our poor dog was in shock and crying in pain). I called San Fernando pet Hospital the girl that took my call but was very nice and helpful she told me that I did not need any appointment for vaccinations got there she helped me right away I had to fill out some papers since it was my first time taking my bully Barry Sanders they take me to the room then they gave Barry Sanders his vaccinations and he's all happy I will be taking him for his third set of hots. This vet sucks. The assistant spent more time telling me the cost of over $300 than the vet did looking at my dog. The vet didn't examine or diagnose my dog that has some pain somewhere in her body. I wound up taking some antibiotics to see if that would help, a waste of $80. I've never been here before, my vet is unavailable for a few weeks, and I'd never come back again. Read Less

I was optimistic going into this place, having read all of the wonderful reviews, but found my experience to be the exact opposite, unfortunately. The vet, himself, was extremely cold, as was his assistant. They hardly spoke a word to us and were quite rough with our very fragile and ill dog, even muzzling him even though he clearly couldn't move at all by himself. The assistant helping the vet was particularly rude, behaving as if it were a hassle for him to be there doing his job. It was a very tension-filled atmosphere and made for an even more uncomfortable visit. They had terrible bedside manner and made us feel unwelcomed right from the get. Came in here after my sister's dog was unfortunately hit by a car, they were very professional and calm. After his x-rays, the vet told me all the necessary things that needed to be done. The staff here is remarkable seriously they are so kind, I did not read the reviews before coming here, as I'm reading them now I don't understand why some yelpers gave the staff low stars. I came in here around 8 am right when they opened, extra points for that beacuse most places did not open until 10 am. Lastly, it's very inexpensive for the good service you get here. I drive all the way from Long Beach in traffic both ways just to go to this place I would highly recommend this veterinarian office. I have never had such an uncomfortable and rude experience with a veterinary hospital before. I took my dog in for an anesthetic dental cleaning.  I arrived at 7:30 am as was requested by the nurse. Upon my arrival, they simply weighed my dog and had me place him in a kennel and leave. They did not medical exam to ensure the dog was healthy and primed for the procedure. When I picked up my dog, I paid with care credit and was not informed that I would be charged a 5% fee for using care credit. On top of it, when I informed the receptionist that the 5% fee was not disclosed to me prior to the service, she said that they normally do and that there is nothing she can do for me now, leaving me with no option except to pay the 5% fee. Furthermore, my dog now has kennel cough and is extremely uncomfortable.  Even though his teeth are clean and they did a good job with that, I will never bring my dog here again, because if they're so rude to customers to their face, how rude are they to your pet when you are no longer present? I've been here a few times throughout the years and I've had great experiences. They always answer the phones and have been helpful with every question I've asked. I do suggest and have referred many people to this pet hospital because I like the employee and the doctors. Dr. Makkar and his assistants are absolutely the best team and I'm so happy I found them. I'm not sure about previous comments with the wait because every single time we've gone in with my fur baby Natasha- we've never had to wait- even when it was an emergency walk in. Natasha is a 2 and a half year old blue nosed pitbull. She's very shy and sweet, and she stays very calm at this pet hospital. Animals can sense the energy around them and she definitely is okay with Dr. Makkar and his staff handling her. The facility is extremely clean and sterile looking. I took a feral cat to The doctor and he did surgery, X-rays and stitches for a reasonable price due to the situation, All in the same day visit. Dr. Makkar is a wonderful, friendly vet doctor. The place is clean and comfortable. The wait was not bad despite the receptionist telling me over the phone that they were busy and the wait was 35-40 minutes. Over the phone the receptionist was not very friendly and I didn't feel like I was welcomed. I went anyways since my dog needed attention. Again the receptionist was not pleasant actually bit of an attitude. We waited 15 minutes. The vet was fast. We were in and out. Dog exam was $40.00 + antibiotics + pain killer= $109.00 Read Less

Dr Makkar and his assistants are wonderful! We have had four pets see him. Our beloved 19 yr old cat was shown great care when it was time for her to pass. Im so grateful and happy with the care shown to our dogs. Its affordable and Im so happy! Its no frills, so don't expect a fancy schmancy set up. But it also means that things will be priced fairly and your animal will get the care they deserve. Dr Makkar is great with giving honest opinions about care and when it is necessary to do certain procedures, or if things can wait. Its a 30-40 in drive for us, but for the usual and non emergency vet visits, we always see Dr Makkar. Not a fan of Dr Leon, just because of how he handled one of our dogs. Im sure he's lovely, but we go when either of the Makkars are there!! Read Less

Doctor is friendly and compassionate he loved our little pitbull. Gave us a free bottle of antibiotics too! Very fast in and out in less than 15mins. I see diffrent reviews here, i guess you cant please everyone. Anyways my experience is good :) the doctor and staff are very freindly. I brought my dog here because he got a bad stich job for his ears somewhere else the doctor told me what was wrong the price is not cheap but fair i have to say. Anyways my pitbulls ears turned out just fine they look great thanks to the stich job and they helped my wife alot with my dog and kids since she had her hands full......very helpful and freindly.  Came back for another visit and the doc was great. We have taken our dog here for quite a few years now. The doctor and his assistants have been very thorough and caring. It is less frills than many clinics nearer to us in Chatsworth/Northridge, but that is reflected in very affordable prices for quality services and treatments. Ive been going here for 6 years because I found the place when I just got my puppy. Ive only been here for shots and vaccinations. Hate the place though. Staff is unfriendly to you and your pet!! i took my sweet pea here since im broke, the price to see the vet isnt bad ($25) and it was one of the many places i called that i didnt need an appointment. the staff isnt super friendly but they werent rude either. the vet seems to care about your pet because he did take her temperature, check her ears, ask what was wrong and follow up questions like what i feed her and her bath time routine. what i really didnt like and the reason im not happy with our visit was the sanitation and there was a little bit of a communication issue. im hoping the counter was wiped down before and after we left but while we were there i didnt see the use of sanitary wipes, hand sanitizer, disinfectant of any kind or hand washing by the vet. as far as communication goes i asked questions about my dogs skin (since she has sensitive skin) and he said he would do a skin scrape and walked out looking for something. he didnt tell me whether or not he was going to charge for a skin scrape so i asked his assistant (who was there the whole time) and he proceeded to tell me i dont know ill ask. and as the vet was already doing to scrape, i had to jump in and ask if he was going to charge me extra and he turned and laughed and he was just like "this is on me." after he checked the slides from the scrape he said it was normal and went on to tell me what medicine my dog needed. he told me to use k9 or frontline, and i told him i already did and that part was so frustrating to me because that conversation took like 5 min but it was going in a circle and he didnt really answer my questions he just kept repeating his point over and over and i still didnt get my answer. he didnt say the price of the medicine and when i asked about side effects he said uhh just a bit of dehydration. i later checked online and theres some gnarly side effects to the stuff he gave us so im not giving her that. the pills were $25 so i could have just used that money to go to another place where i probably would have left happier. even though he did care about my dog he didnt seem to care about my concerns for her after care, he gave off this vibe of trust me i know what im doing and gave me some pills and thank you for coming. if ur in a tight spot and need vet care go here theyre not too bad for the prices i guess. but i dont know if id go back. im gunna keep checking around for a perfect fit and a vet where im comfortable taking my pet and comfortable leaving knowing all my questions (even dumb ones) were answered. I had been a client at San Fernando Pet Hospital for 15 years, taking all of my pets to Dr. Makkar. Everything had been very good until I had to have my beloved 18 year old cat put to sleep two weeks ago. I chose to have him cremated, and after having to wait two weeks to get his remains back, I was given the WRONG ones!!!!! I called them to tell them what happened and get the crematorium's phone number, and they refused to give it to me. Instead, he tried to convince me that the ashes were my cat's and that they just had the wrong name on them. Then he said he would give me a refund for the cremation. When I said that was not good enough and that I wanted them to find my cat, and that somewhere out there, there was another distraught pet owner missing his/her pet's remains, he had the nerve to offer me a $200.00 credit as well as the refund, and that there was nothing else that could be done. As if money can fix this egregious mistake! I will be finding a new Veterinarian stat! Read Less
